A nice small restaurant. This was the only place where we ate out during our stay in Iceland and we were happy with it. The lamb soup is really good and I recommend it. If possible, sit further away from the front door, otherwise you will have to endure cold air whenever someone is coming or leaving.

What a fabulous place for a late lunch! We had the cod, and the lamb. Both were delicious. Had the house white wine and a local lager. Rounded things out with their unique rye bread ice cream.

We had the priest coffee which was strong! I personally have never tried Brennivín and kind of regretted it since it was early in the day. We also tried the lamb soup and the Viking platter! The lamb soup was hearty and homemade vibes. The Viking platter honestly tastes just like it looks! Nothing amazing, just dried fish, rye bread, and the well-known fermented shark. The ammonia really hits you hard and an added double whammy with the Brennivín shot. Probably wouldn’t recommend this if you have stomach sensitivities! Haha, but a good experience nonetheless. My absolute favorite was the rye bread ice cream! I would totally recommend. I think hands-down best thing I tasted in Iceland.

The best on Iceland. Best lamb soup indeed and I have tried quite a few. Tasting plate was amazing combination of typical Icelandic dishes. Mashed fish set standards for many "high class" restaurants. Even the beer selection is above many other restaurants. The Bodi beer was a really good suggestion. Certainly, I want to commend highly the service. It was friendly without being patronising.

Conveniently right in front of the beautiful church. The food here are all really good and the rye bread ice cream ooffffttt. I’ve had a few different dishes here at this point and they have yet to disappoint. Will keep coming back here for good Icelandic dishes every time I visit Reykjavik!!

We wanted to try traditional Icelandic cuisine and this gem was only a minute walk from the famous Hallgrímskirkja Church (which you’ll want to see while in Reykjavik). What a culinary delight and experience! You’re paying not just Icelandic prices but also for tremendous quality as everything is made in house. Easily the best rye bread I’ve ever eaten with just enough sweetness and lightness accompanied by house made butter. They have RYE BREAD ICE CREAM. Yes, you read that correctly! In fact, they are the only restaurant on the island to make it.

Café Loki is a must-visit gem in Reykjavik for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Icelandic cuisine. The tasting platter was a standout, offering a bold and flavorful introduction to traditional dishes like mashed fish and fermented shark, alongside tender, well-seasoned lamb. The fermented shark was a daring but memorable experience, perfectly balanced by the milder, comforting mashed fish. The lamb soup was rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying, showcasing the quality of Icelandic ingredients. The lamb chops were equally impressive, cooked to perfection with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and robust flavor. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service only added to the charm, making Café Loki a fantastic spot to dive into Iceland’s culinary heritage. Highly recommend for food adventurers and lamb lovers alike!

Great food, quick and friendly stuff. Popular with the tourists, so you might need to wait at the entrance for some time - with us it took about 2-4 minutes, and then we were nicely seated and took our time to enjoy the meal. Nice place!
