The food was decent but not truly authentic Indian. Flavors were mild, and it lacked the richness I expected. Not bad overall, but not the best for those seeking real Indian taste.

I would have given 0 star if allowed, went with a bunch of mates, been to many Indian restaurants in Edinburgh but this one tips the list of the worst restaurants I ever been. The order was taken incorrectly 2 times the same evening, ordered full mixed grill they have a normal side, again order a full grill they missed the order. Asked for salad, they gave onion, cucumber. The dishes are priced premium but the portion size are kids menu size. Hated every dish we tried, I wish we had seen other reviews before going. Don't bother with this place, save the money or walk down to other places

Google
Lovely restaurant with a very tempting selection of dishes. Both the Indian dishes we chose were very tasty and well presented. Shame the curries didn't come on a hot plate under the dishes because they went cold before we had completely finished them. We did finish them but would have been even nicer if they had stayed hot. The Garlic naan bread was very nice, both in taste and texture.

Not sure what restaurant the other reviewers went to. This was great food and warm, friendly service. Haggis pakoras were AMAZING and the lamb curries were so good - the lamb so tender. Would come back in a heartbeat!

A nice cafe on the main street. Their kitchen is open until 10pm so it was a great find for us hungry tourists wandered into town after 9pm. It has a colorful and flowery decor and a nice ambiance. We ordered the mango lassi (highly recommend!), the chicken Tikka masala and tandoori chicken. Both of them really good but on the small side. The rice pilaf was ok. The garlic naan was delicious. For dessert we got the gujam and the mango cheesecake. The gujam was really good!!! The service was ok, just a suggestion to take away the dishes without piling them on the table in front of us. The table was sticky on my end but I did see the servers wiping the tables so it must be a missed spot. They were respectful but not very helpful with the menu, given that it was my friend's first time at an Indian restaurant. I would visit again.

Google
Its not worth it at all, they are overly priced , everything expensive , Quantity of food u get is a joke, taste was not good at all, seems like all chicken curry taste is same, its 100% not worth it at all for the price they charged, paid £47 for nothing, customer service for super low with a dead expression , feels like they force to work their so they don't like their job. I would not recommend 100%. For starter chicken tikka literally have 4 pieces of chicken for £5.50, curry portion too small for £12 , better no go there just to have halal or desi food.

This restaurant is not even worth for this 1 star. But I don't have option to give rating less than this. Don't waste your valuable money, Time,. Etc. Very very worst Food quality, Quantity and taste. Even you won't get free normal water. Staff behaviours is so weird and not respectful. Within 0.5 mile you can spot McD.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Frozen food. Rude owner. We were 2 adults and 1 kid. We ordered 3 chapatis and 1 curry. We were not very hungry. The waiter told us that 1 curry will not be enough as the portion size is small. We said, we will first get the curry and decide if we want to eat more. He then went and complained to the owner. The owner came in and told us that we must order 2 main dishes otherwise he wouldn't take the order. We also ordered plain papad. There was an option for chutneys for 3.20 but we didn't want it. He asked if we don't want chutneys. The portion sizes are so small for the money. Absolute waste of money and the rude owner does not make it any better. We had only regrets eating here.

Yelp
Beware of places that cater to two different cuisines. In this case, it was Indian and Thai. It just was not good at either. It is a cute little place towards the end of the main street you walk down through town. We could not find a place to eat and they had mostly open tables so we decided why not. I don't know. The food was just not impressive at all. Service was good though.

Yelp
Very poor customer service, we went in for just a quick bite, ordered an appetizer. Instantly they seemed annoyed, we said we would pay in cash to make it nice and easy. Somehow we ended up paying about £10 for 4 bite sized spring rolls that tasted like they were frozen and reheated, as well as a bottle of water (we didn't even want drinks, had just said we would do some tap water if that's okay). If you don't want to accept small food order I guess that's your prerogative but instead of telling us that, they just tried to squeeze as much money as possible out of us. When I asked why the spring rolls were almost twice the price listed on the menu, they said it was a bigger portion lunch special??? It was literally four bites of food. Left feeling robbed, cannot tell people to stay away from here enough. Ambience was also subpar and no one else in the restaurant seemed like they left happy. Really can't say a single nice thing abt them, and I'm not the sort of person to typically write reviews.

Yelp
The only reason we went to this place is because our kids wanted to eat Indian. They force you to order 2 curries when we don't want to and when you ask why he says it's either 2 curries or he won't serve us at all. WORST PLACE EVER TO GO. I can't stress it enough. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. And dont even get me started on the portion size. You can look at the portion size but dont plan on eating coz it won't be enough anyway. Rude owners do not get good customer reviews.

Yelp
Food was dynamic! Staff so helpful! Atmosphere perfect. It'd be a shame if you missed dining at Cafe Mango.

Diana J.

Yelp
Very Harsh behaviour. The food quantity is very less compared to the price. I would really not recommend if you want to taste authentic Indian food. Taste is also lower than average. Can prefer only if you don't get food anywhere and no other options.

Yelp
Started great but left feeling majorly scammed. I am gluten free and wasn't going to order an appetizer, but the owner offered to put in a popadom for me as it is GF. I thought that was nice and said sure, I'll have one! However, the receipt had 2 popadoms listed (which were brought out on one dish, so I thought one order included two) as well as .75 extra for the sauce (that I did not request) and also seemed to be included with the dish. The owner also through in the rice when we ordered the masalas, which again.... Appeared to be included with the meal, but were $5 extra each on the receipt. It was not at all made clear by our waiter or the menu that small items were an additional cost and often were thrown in by the owner. So even though the food was good, the bill was a bit more than expected, and now we've left feeling quite peeved. Prepare yourselves to be nickel and dimed and triple check your receipt and orders if you go here

Yelp
Cafe Mango was an unexpected choice for lunch in Fort William. Unfortunately, it was off hours and few places were open...and I couldn't do another fish and chips lunch, so I decided to go for Indian. The service was quite pleasant, contrary to other reviews and the food solid. I had the veg samosas to start and the Chicken Tikka Tandori. The chicken was nicely prepared as were the accompanying vegetables. The salad was nothing spectacular, but it was nice to have a small side salad. The garlic naan was hot and tasty, although the level of garlic could have been taken up a notch. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Cafe Mango.

Yelp
Food was delicious and was surprised their thai curry tasted amazing, I recommend the thai chicken curry to try if you're trying curry for the first time

Charlene B.

Yelp
Many of the eating establishments on High Street do not offer "takeaway" (take out). Cafe Mango saved us as we were tired after a very full day in Fort William and wanted to take good back to the hotel and relax. The lamb was amazing.... the rice was a true fragrant treat... and the naan was on point! Visit them when in FW!

Yelp
Oh my God, the attitude of the owner (roll my eyes) We stopped over for early dinner. So we ordered one paneer main dish and one Dal side dish. The owner stopped by and told us that we ordered a side dish and a main dish. I told him we will try and see if we want more. We aren't as hungry. He wasn't pleased at all from the looks. I wonder what was the issue. Can't two people share a dish?! Anyhow, the food was okay. Dal was watery and paneer gravy watery too.

Yelp
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE As a family who are very experienced and involved in the food industry, we found this place absolutely SHOCKING. The food was hit and miss, with dishes like the Chicken Dansak not too bad, but the thing dragging the whole atmosphere down was the HORRIBLE attitude of the owner. We had to complain twice due to the dishes being over seasoned, but instead of listening to our feedback and fixing his mistake, the owner WAS IN DENIAL and kept insisting that there is "no salt" and "no lemon" in their dishes??? I wish we'd read reviews before we went but unfortunately after a recommendation from the people at Taj Mahal, we expected the service and quality to be above what we received. As someone who never bothers to write these reviews, I think this review speaks volumes. To Paul at Cafe Mango, PLEASE change that attitude and maybe your business might not sink.

Yelp
Went for dinner thrown to the upstairs area which was like someone's attic, no music, no atmosphere, no staff! Left for over fifteen minutes with no staff coming near us to even take our drinks order. Another table was seated and had drinks and food order taken within 3 minutes and we were completely ignored! Seated next to the toilets even though there were available tables downstairs! Girl who seated us seemed pretty clueless then disappeared before we had even sat down and did this to another table also. Manager seemed very rude also. I would recommend you avoid this restaurant at all costs! Shocking lack of service and get rid or upgrade the upstairs! Seemed to be a few unhappy customers in!

Yelp
We're in the North Atlantic, we order seafood stir fry and get a few pieces of canned shrimp. #regret The samosa was cheap boxed frozen type. Not recommended.

Yelp
A welcome relief to pub fare, but overall bland. I've done 3 extended trips to India and I live by a large Indian population so I have easy access to great authentic Indian restaurants, as well as Thai. Mango was a welcome relief from all the pubfare over the last week, but overall bland. The food lacked the spice complexity - not just heat - I'm used to. Also the owner gave me the option of "mild or medium" - what about hot? I asked for whatever 4 out of 5 stars would be, or hot if they could only do 3 levels. Later on a couple from Asia sat next to me and he gave them the hot or medium option....I'm guessing the average white person only wants mild to medium so I see where he is coming from, but stereotyping always gets under my skin.

Yelp
Just had a recommendation from a cousin who ate in here last evening. She has asked me to post her opinion of this eaterie. Absolutely b****y marvellous. So impressed they're going back tonight. Though Fort William is niceI do like it over in Fort George/Inverness way. Well, like it all up there, really.

Kendra M.

Yelp
This place is pretty standard. If you've got an Indian restaurant in your town or country, then the selections are basically the same: tikka masalas, tandooris, naan, paneer, or biryani with the usual choice of chicken, lamb or fish. The samosas we ordered appear to be boxed, frozen samosas that you can buy in a supermarket. I had the lamb tikka masala and it was quite average. My table mates ordered the sag paneer and that dish was better tasting. The service was standard as well and the food came in a timely fashion. It's a good place for lunch/dinner, but it's no spectacular cuisine or service.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for a romantic evening. We had been walking down Fort Wiliam's High Street and were pleasantly surprised to find this Thai-Indian eatery. The food was very spicy and tasty and the staff was very attentive and welcoming. The only caveat is that it is somewhat pricey, but totally worth it.

Yelp
Great Indian and Thai food there. Friendly service and average price. If you like Indian and Thai food, you will love this restaurant! The cheese Nan bread was so delicious and the curry there was awesome!

Robert T.

Yelp
They have an Indian and Thai menu. Me and my friend decided to order from the Thai side. It was brilliant, the food anyway. There was a couple light bulbs out and a crack on the wall behind my friend. The restaurant was very quiet and somehow the waitress kept disappearing when I wanted to order another drink. Apart from that the restaurant is an amazing place to go for a meal. It was good value for money!

Yelp
Poor service and treating customers Harshly.. No personalised attention (not sure being the fact that I was from India). No food authenticity and doesnt represent any core food items ...all are localised ! Highly not recommended

Yelp
this restaurant does a mixture of thai and indian cuisine, on the main street of f william. its quite expensive, but the food is nice
