Cafe Melbourne

A lovely local family recommended this fancy restaurant to me ,and I’m so glad they did! The food was truly delicious. I especially loved the fish curry ,just a little bit spicy, but perfectly balanced and full of flavour. And the chai latte? Honestly the best I’ve ever had in my life. I think I’m starting to fall in love with chai now! The atmosphere is warm and relaxing, perfect for a casual meal or a quiet afternoon. I’ll definitely come back again!

Great atmosphere. Old bus depot converted to cafe with other interesting elements. The coffee and food were both enjoyable. If in Thames a must stopover for a bite. We sat outside which is lovely quad with trees.

Came here because of Google review. Did not disappoint. Delicious scrambled eggs, sourdough and bacon. Tomato dish also amaze

I had the pork salad- the most delicious flavors and great combination. Best lunch i have had in a long time. Beautiful setting with indoor plant shops and lots of lovely seating in a courtyard. Was a pleasure 😊

The best part was the layout with the outdoors. Coffee was ordinary. Ended up finding better coffee later down the road. The lady serving was running the place and giving orders to all the other staff and we had to repeat the order to her 3 times. Bit average..... need to focus and get order right.

the two ladies that served my boyfriend and i for breakfast were super kind & friendly, it made our visit even more welcoming :) !! i recommend ordering “sausage party” the meal was very tasty. i tried the porridge “goldilocks” as i wanted to try something new - i think it was a coconut sago? it was very filling. if i have to be honest, its not a favourite of mine but im glad i gave it a try! we are visiting from auckland, i highly recommend this place, 10/10 service 💘 thank you cafe melbourne xx

Great setting in this cute town of Thames. Fresh food, baked goods and pressed juice. We split the Turkish chicken sandwich, side salad and brownie - we felt plenty satisfied all for $25NZ. Friendly service with both indoor and outdoor seating. A perfect stop for a bite or drink while staying near by or on your way thru.

Delicious. Can be a bit of a wait when busy, and limited hours. Pastry items all tried have been excellent.

Thames is a bit of a funny place. I was here for work and on a Thursday night, the main drag (Pollen St) was like a ghost town. Watch out for tumble weeds! Finding Melbourne Cafe was like hitting the lotto in the morning. It felt like a really good cute city cafe. It has an urban warehouse feel with a splash of class. Great friendly service. I got my usual on the road brekkie - flat white and poached eggs on whole meal toast. Beautiful perfect coffee, excellent whole wheat bread and perfect bright orange runny eggs. Prices were reasonable for the quality. Highly recommend if you're heading up Coromandel way!

I really don't like giving bad reviews but I cannot believe this place is rated so highly. We've been in there passing through, it was overpriced and the staff were a bit snarky. I paid $5 for a dry scone and the coffees were average. Usually I don't might paying a bit more for something nice but we were all disappointed. Maybe we just got a bad day - but I would give this place a hard pass. I mentioned it to some of the locals we met up with and they all agreed, it is overpriced compared to the many other cafes and places to eat down the main road.

Great breakfast, really friendly staff. The salmon and avocado today was excellent. Our best meal in Thames.

Loved it! Great gluten free options. Rich coffee and fresh squeezed juices. I had the potatoes and eggs. The eggs had deep reddish yokes, the sign of truly organic cage free wild chicken!!! The apple carrot celery juice was cold and very flavorful. The out side patio was fun to sit at and people brought their pets. Staff was super friendly.

We stopped in on our way to Coromandel for a quick lunch. At first it looks like a coffee/pastry cafe but they are so much more. We ordered their tasting plate and loved everything on it. My husband loved the sliders and I was obsessed with the fish curry dish. In highly recommended to anyone passing through or staying nearby

Great fresh juice! Nice atmosphere, reminds me of Melbourne and is on a cute part of the Main Street with heritage buildings.

Having returned to the area after a 3 year stint in Perth, it's such a relief to find a slice of 'city' in the town of Thames. There is nothing not to like about Cafe Melbourne, food and coffee fantastic and well priced, super friendly staff, great atmosphere......it's a winning combination! Makes me excited for the future of Thames! Hooray for Cafe Melbourne.
