Café Modern

Nice idea but very bad execution, 4 hours to serve 6 courses, it took forever, it feels they do it to make you drink more, not to mention the very uncomfortable chairs for such a long dinner. It feels understaffed, also awful acoustic, you need to speak loud to communicate with the table.

Everything was perfect for this restaurant!!! The service is knowledgeable and friendly. Atmosphere was relaxed and comfy. Food - delicious and great to have the offer of wine pairings. Loved the flavour and freshness of each dish. Can’t wait to come back!

I've been to Amsterdam one to many times, but this was probably the best neighbourhood that I stayed in. Silent at the night,nice beautiful houses around and stores to get from breakfast to dinner. Walked around the noord at the night and enjoyed it so much. Pizza spot across the street, so you can easily treat yourself!

We truly enjoyed this restaurant; the staff was incredibly kind. The food was impeccable. We opted for the five dishes, and it's all chef's choice—what a delightful surprise it was! Each dish was well-balanced and delicious. Being French, it's challenging for us to dine without bread. This restaurant offered bread that had just come out of the oven, and it was exceptionally good too! Thanks a lot !

I visited Cafe Modern with a friend for dinner. It was my second time at the restaurant, after a very nice dinner towards the end of last year with a client. To start with two positive points, the sommelier was very attentive and knowledgeable and the bread is very good. Every course that was presented to us was substandard for a restaurant of this type. Flavours of garlic and chilli were overpowering. Prawns we're undercooked. Allergies that were brought to the staff's attention were not considered. Front of house staff were insufficiently informed of the menu. We ordered the 6 course menu and eventually asked for the meal to be cut short. This is very disappointing due to my prior experience as I had recommended your restaurant to numerous people after my first encounter. I will unfortunately not be returning to Cafe Modern.

We spent a pleasant moment at the café modern, a warm atmosphere in this pretty building, light background music, you feel good as soon as you step through the door. An excellent 7-course menu, cooked with seasonal produce, special mention for the cod with oyster cream and the delicious sourdough bread offered by the house, a delight for the taste buds. We had very good advice for the wine, and all the waiters were very pleasant and attentive. I'd recommend the café modern for a lovely evening out with friends or loved ones.

Very interesting venue, it seems to be some sort of old bank. There is a table downstairs in a very private and bank themed setting, suitable for groups of 10 to 12 people. The food was good, but not outstanding. Wide and good selection of wines. If you come during a cold day, make sure to bring warm clothes as quite chilly inside. Really great place to come visit and eat if you want modern elevated Danish food. Fine dining food without the fussy informal setting. I recommend the seven course tasting menu. Had a professional and courteous waitstaff (especially the lovely woman from Spain, unfortunately I did not catch her name) Rarely do I leave a review but I truly was smitten that evening. Keep up the good work even when the man tries to grind you down.

Well done. Casual atmosphere - upscale food for sure. Wine list was great. Overall we had a great experience with the coursed presentation of the night. Do this!

Had a excellent vegan dinner here on a Tuesday night! best service experience in Amsterdam. Great vin naturels and a chef and maitre that clearly know what they are doing! It was superb, with 50,- for a fixed menu its not cheap but WOW worth every penny. The menu changes quite often and can be adapted to your dietary needs. The only downside is the noise level, some soundspoofing would make this place heaven. PS its situated in a former bank and you can now visit the safe!

3 min ferry ride from central to north and then 3 min cycling to the restaurant. The building was a bank originally and they kept some design elements. Summer time you have a choice to sit outside. They serve 5 course and it's a fixed menu costs 40 euro. All dishes & service was the best in Ams so far.

Exquisite dining experience in Amsterdam Noord. This place alone is a good reason for taking the ferry across the Ij river.

Fantastic food with a welcoming service. The location is great as well. Might be a bit noisy but this also adds to the atmosphere. The only criticism is that extra fee you had to pay for the cheese platter was quite high (14,50) compared to the menu (42,50).

Worth the (free) ferry across the IJ to North Amsterdam. The restaurant only offers a 5-course menu at €40 but each course was delicious. The location, in an old bank building (check the old safes in the basement) is original, fifties design. Recommended. Make sure you call in advance as has become very popular.
