Meet the neighbours: Chinatown, Singapore - SilverKris

"A whimsical, design-forward café built around a black-and-white 2D comic-book aesthetic created by the owner and collaborators; the menu features crowd-pleasers like ragu pasta and an all-day breakfast served with a salted egg yolk croissant, and the concept attracts international visitors as well as locals." - Gwen Pew

This restaurant has a very unique theme, their restaurant looks like it was hand-drawn. Their Ragu Pasta tastes really good! The Monochrome’s Brunch was not bad, but I feel the waffles could be crispier. 😋 Their fries is crispy but abit hard but can taste the truffle 🍟 Overall, i think is okay. Worth a try if you are nearby 🤩 Would go back to try more pasta flavours if i am nearby! 😛

I don't find it to be special, and I don't believe it's worth it. The food was of poor quality. The chicken's strange tasting has caused me to believe that they need to change their oil. The matcha tastes like strawberry jam, the taro tastes like milk that doesn't have any taro taste, and the chocolate milk tastes like the cheap milk at the supermarket. There was no politeness or friendliness from the staff. If you are not feeling like working, please stay at home and use your phone. Don't spend your time going to the cafe and taking photos. Take a look at the staircase, there's a baby chair, and the cafe is extremely compact. If you're looking for a good matcha or food near you, September coffee is a great option and just near by. Hopefully the management can train the staffs well

Café Monochrome is everything you’d imagine from an amazing coffee shop. We had a delicious cappuccino and equally fantastic matcha drinks. The space is incredibly cute, the vibes are perfect, and everything tasted amazing. A must-visit spot!

The 2D paint is quite a novel concept that was executed beautifully - I’d recommend everyone should check out the cafe at least once. The lighting is very well thought out inside too - no harsh contrast or shadows. Every wall does look 2D. However, the matcha was really lacking. I’m sorry but putting (strawberry) fruit jams - instead of real strawberry purée - and bubbles (in the mango one) in matcha really took it out of the drinks. The latte on its own was decent. If the owner takes my feedback, I hope you use real fruit purées instead - your item will sell. Another thing - I empathize that the kitchen is small, and they serve food on top of other things. But it took way too long for 3 cups of matcha. Overall I would come back to introduce the place to a new friend.

The place was quite compact but indeed instragrammable. The crayfish pasta look like chilli crab sauce but taste average. The pizza was crunchy as it fill with fried paper rice skin, it tastes not too bad.

I ordered the rosti and rose pasta — both were disappointing. The rosti wasn’t even crispy; it was soggy and wet. I initially came in because the place looked nice, so I took a few photos before sitting down. But the waitress immediately told me to order first before taking pictures, and the tone was unnecessarily rude. It honestly made me feel unwelcome. The drinks didn’t help either. Both the strawberry matcha and uji matcha were extremely diluted. I even asked if the strawberry was homemade and was told yes, but the moment I tasted it, it was so sour and tasted exactly like bottled strawberry jam from RedMan. Overall, not a good experience. I won’t be coming back and I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Loved the overall vibe of this cafe — super aesthetic with a unique monochrome theme that makes it perfect for photos. They even have props around, which makes the experience more fun and IG-worthy. The food was pretty good too, with meals averaging around $20 — definitely worth it for both the taste and the ambiance. A great spot if you’re looking to chill, eat, and snap lots of pictures in a creative setting!

Really enjoyed my visits here! Had a lunch and an after dinner drink, and they were both wonderful visits. The concept is also super unique :)
