Against All Grain Benny was by far the best eggs benedict I’ve ever had. Got the spicy hollandaise and it was just the right mild spice. The Brussel sprouts were sweet, carmelized and pure perfection. Vegan and gluten free which was perfect. I will be back to try other vegan GF items.

A very cute cafe located on the Whyte Ave in Edmonton. Cozy vibe inside and the food was delicious. They are most vegetarian options but you can add sausage or eggs with your meal. I got the breakfast bowl along with a carrot cake cupcake to finish off the meal. Service was superb and I do recommend stopping here for a quick coffee or a meal

The food was fantastic. I got the mystery burger - which isn’t a mystery. It’s just a veggie burger, no worries lol. The potatoes that came along with it were nicely salted, and garnished with green onion - very delicious. The beer I had is “Irish red ale on tap”, which is brewed locally by sea change. It was cold, ok the darker smooth side. If you like that kind of beer, try it. Overall, I enjoyed the food. Now the bad part that made me knock off a star: it took forever for me to be served. The waitress was very nice but alas the wait to be served time plus forgetting my hot sauce I asked for left me feeling like there’s room for improvement. Others may not be as patient about this.

Perfection!! Visited twice in our short stay in Edmonton - everything was THAT good (and one of us isn't even vegan/vegetarian). Just wish the mustard was still available for sale as I would've brought 10 jars home 💛 Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

Google
Tasty vegetarian comfort food in a bright, airy atmosphere near the university campus. More than half of the menu is vegan. I especially enjoyed the donair and the pumpkin mac and cheese, both of which are on their "back from the vault" menu of old specials. The portion sizes are generous and the staff are friendly.

I have been to Cafe Mosaics before and loved the curry, but this time I came with two friends and we ordered a bunch of items off the menu that we had not had before. Nachos These were very underwhelming. Vegan nachos can be delicious and flavourful and these had regular chips (not an issue), and A LOT of refried beans that were quite bland. I loved that they added pickled onions, but overall, I have had WAY better vegan nachos. Quesadilla I did not have as I was the only vegan at the table and wanted my friends to have one thing that had whatever they wanted in it. They said it was the best of the dishes we ordered. Chicken wings We saw such great reviews on these and I have to say I was very disappointed. Perhaps years ago these would have been ok, but vegan food has come so far. The inside was mushy and the flavour was just ok. The only saving grace was the sauce unfortunately. There are so many amazing store bought options for chicken strips now and so many ways to make chicken strips or wings that have a chewy texture and much more flavourful experience. Secret Bi Bim Bap This was quite flavourful, but I wouldn't order again. I don't live in Edmonton anymore so I won't have much of an opportunity to come back and unsure I will give it another chance when I return.

This place is seriously so delicious. I have been here a dozen times and I have never been disappointed. I am more vegan and my partner is vegetarian and we love the options here. Pictures are of the hangover burger, Jackfruit taco & donair. They are creative and delicious!if you are a starting vegan and feeling like you’re missing out, eat here!

Google
This is a sneaky location. The signage is not very noticable. You'll drive by it easily but once your inside you won't forget the experience. As a person who eats chicken, beef and fish I didn't know what expect with a full vegetable menu. Everything I tried had so much flavor, great portions and I felt great after. If I have to pick one dish it's the curry bowl 💯. The service was spectacular as the space is allows for the staff to attend to the patrons easily. This is easily one of my favorite spots to eat. The vibe is really inviting and uplifting

Yelp
I didn't realize this till we got here but I've been a few times a while ago. Heads up for anyone wanting meat, this is a vegetarian restaurant with vegan options, so temper your expectations. But I digress. We went today because my wife was excited to tell me about a restaurant that her and her friend found the other day and thought it was a nice departure from the usual casual fast food we normally go for. She was craving the curry Bowl (I believe it's a Thai curry but I didn't read the description) after she got off work. So we went for a mid afternoon lunch, we went around 2 or so. It wasn't too busy but there were people in the restaurant. The atmosphere was that of a cafe where you can get coffee, teas, alcohol and everything in-between. The surprise here is that they also have a full menu of other things, appetizers, main courses and desserts. I wasn't terribly hungry and I had seen a plate of nachos that another table was enjoying as we walked in so my mind wandered to that. My wife ordered her curry bowl and we got a children's grilled cheese for our daughter. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised by all of the food. First the children's grilled cheese was a regular sized grilled cheese sandwich enough for an adult's lunch. The bread was crispy, cheese pull was good, it was as close to a perfect grilled cheese as one could expect. It can be ordered in regular cheddar or vegan friendly cheese. The nachos were just the right size to fill me up as I wasn't hungry. The "sour cream" dip (not sure if it was regular sour cream or something else) was flavoured and dare I say the star of the dish. It was a bean forward but it wasn't too much. I enjoyed it very much and as someone who is used to getting beef nachos, this was as tasty as you'd expect nachos to be. I had a bite of my wife's curry bowl and I could instantly see why she was craving it. It wasn't too spicy (she prefers not as spicy), and it reminded me exactly of a Thai curry (which is why I speculate that it is a Thai curry). Lots of coconut notes, but no complaints from me. Staff were pleasant, food came fast, it was tasty and it had a great atmosphere. At the end of the day I'd come back here, we spent around $60 after tip with no drinks purchased.

Yelp
I really enjoy coming here, and have been here many times. The service has usually been fast and they are always polite. They have plants hanging from the walls and nice art that creates a beautiful little atmosphere. The food here is amazing with a menu with mostly Vegan / vegetarian / plant based options. They have quiet a few options for gluten-free as well which is very helpful for those with dietary restrictions. The tacos are phenomenally delicious, I seriously love them. The breakfast skillets are also very tasty. The tea lattes are delicious; but the cups are a little awkward to hold, as they are short and wide with a tiny handle. (Last time we were there the waitress accidently spilled the tea when bringing it to us due to this). I am a little frightened of their water bottles they bring to the table; they look like they are impossible to clean, and due to that, they have dishwasher grit glued onto the inside of the bottles) ... but who is going to a vegan / vegetarian restaurant for water anyways!? Lol Even though the cups and water bottles do not impress me, the food makes up for it; it is always top notch fresh and full of flavor, delicious! I have come here many times for brunch because the food here is so good. Piece of advice if you plan to go... bring cash or they will bill you 3% higher just for using g a card.

Yelp
Parking is a nightmare in the area but 2 hour parking spots are available - just not sure if we were supposed to pay for the 2 hours! Restaurant was 50% full Thursday at 7:30PM. Service was fine. I got the PB + OJ burger with hash. Burger 10/10 delicious. Was not sure peanut butter would be great but it was delicious. Hash was super dissapointing and friend's French fries were 10x better. Hash was well cooked but under seasoned and really boring. Friend got the Say Cheese, Mr Bean Burger in a lettuce wrap (no gluten-free buns available). She was disappointed no gluten-free buns but understood it would be costly and hard to keep gluten-free buns on hand all the time. They were generous with the lettuce - it looked like she got a whole salad with her meal! Lettuce looked very green and crisp. She also got the fries and they were soooo good. I don't know what the seasoning is but it's really tasty. She also got a kombucha which was super carbonated and served in a mason jar. Too full for dessert but there are gluten free desserts available! Overall very happy with the food and service here.

Yelp
3 Braised Jackfruit taco - corn tortilla, cabbage, avocado chipotle aioli, pico de gallo (15.50$) I really enjoyed this meal. The different tangy sauces mixed with the savouriness of the jackfruit was amazing! Summer Donair - red and yellow peppers, onion, soy mutton, green cabbage, radish, mint cashew donair sauce ($16) It tasted mostly like vinegar and crunchy salad. It was alright The service and ambiance is really cute. I love the lights and this place is instaworthy

Yelp
After being in Edmonton for close to 13 years, I finally made it to Cafe Mosaics! When Allan G was alive, I tried getting him in here multiple times, but it was a really hard sell for a man who loved his meat and who saw 1 item with beets on it and vetoed the choice. Mz. Shawnna and I decided to do a little shopping on Whyte to see what was still open and what was more recent. We started off here, and had a lovely brunch. She had a Mushroom Mocha Peppermint and the Huevos Rancheros, and I had the Against All Grain Benny with a side of avocado and spicy Hollandaise and a Macadamia nut London Fog, which was sublime. The food was amazing. I'm not a vegetarian, but have dabbled, and I literally could not taste anything that differed from a usual Benedict I would order anywhere else. The spice on the Hollandaise was just right, and I polished off every bite. The price was reasonable, and our server was attentive and friendly without being too in our face. A delight, really. I officially love this place, and already want to come back!

Yelp
I got take out from Cafe Mosaics by ordering online and selecting the time I would come for pick up. The restaurant called me as I was a couple minutes late but told him I was just parking and would be there soon. He then told me he would steep my tea now so it's freshly brewed and still hot when I arrive. I ordered the XL Mosaic wings, unicorn burger with fries, and angel water tea. Everything was absolutely delicious!!! Love eating here and supporting local vegetarian / vegan friendly restaurant. My bill was just under $40 including tip. I highly recommend the XL Mosaic Wings which are super tasty and surprisingly filling. The dips it comes with are also vegan and delicious!!! It was my first time trying the Unicorn burger and wow was it tasty! The beet inside really gives an extra layer of flavour. Delicious!!

Yelp
Great spot to eat, converse or chill. Coffees and teas. Cosy country feel. Casual decor. Friendly staff. Bright windows to catch the sun. Food is great but is vegetarian. Real eggs and cheese tho. Eggs Benny is filling.

Yelp
My first time at Cafe Mosaics was a few years ago. I saw their restaurant lit up from outside and was intrigued by the beautiful interior. I thought it was a new restaurant, because they had no signage that could be seen from the street. My first experience at Cafe Mosaics was to just stop by for a drink. Their drink menu really caught my eye, I wanted to try everything, from their tea lattes to their tonics and elixirs. I remember walking into the cafe and being confused as to where to go. Do I just grab a seat like at a coffee shop? Then order at the counter? Or is there table service. It wasn't very clear based on the layout of the cafe. We eventually figured out when a waitress came to take our order. I recently stopped by Cafe Mosaics again to have dinner with a friend. She's vegan and loves this restaurant so I was willing to give it another try. I was really excited to try their Against All Grain Benny for $16 and a tea latte. Our food came first, and shortly after our lattes arrived. I thought this was weird as drinks usually come first. All in all my food was only okay. The vegan hollandaise was cold, while my eggs and shredded mash were warm. Is the hollandaise supposed to be cold? It doesn't make any sense served on top of a warm dish. My friend also kept commenting on how small my food portion looked. In addition to the food being medicore. I was surprised to see that this restaurant didn't accept credit cards. I felt like I went back in time a few decades. I wish that I could give Cafe Mosaics a better review as Edmonton desperately needs more plant based restaurants. Sadly, this one just doesn't hit the mark for me. Oh yeah, and they still don't have a sign on their store front.

Yelp
I've been going here for years. Back when it was smaller and had more of a hippie feel. Now it's it's grown up and is yuppie. I was longing for huevos rancheros and nowhere in the city does it as well as mosaics. Actually not that many places in the city seem to offer it. But if you have any leads let me know. Along with the decor one of the things I've noticed is the staff is considerably more friendly. The service is great. We also enjoyed watching a cute basset hound puppy sit on the patio. The patio is a few tables outside. My partner had the unicorn burger and it was delicious. There was beats, pineapple, and a chickpea Patty. They were other ingredients in there but I couldn't quite catch them but they all made one delicious sandwich My partner had the unicorn burger and it was delicious. Yelp
+.5 for service It's not everyday that I go into a vegetarian restaurant, but given the fact I was with two vegetarians for lunch, I gave them the power to choose a place that suits them. A google search for restaurants on Whyte Avenue brought up this place, so we decided to try it out for lunch. Everything in this place is locally sourced, grown, organic, and sustainably sourced, so you know you're getting excellent value for your food. I had the secret burrito cause the ingredients looked interesting, and I wanted to know what's so "secret" about it. The secret burrito came with the daily soup that closely resembled miso soup that day. I really liked the soup! I didn't had that much expectations in terms of the soup, but it was definitely comparable to the miso soups you get in Japanese restaurants. The secret burrito was also really delicious! The teriyaki sauce was not overpoweringly sweet, which I also liked. The burrito broke apart quite easily though, so I definitely suggest eating it with a fork and knife (as cheesy as it sounds). Service was very good as well, and I also liked the design of the restaurant...feels very down to earth. Definitely a place I'd recommend regardless of whether you're vegetarian or not.

Yelp
We had a terrible service by our waitress "Natalie" who was brushing our concerns up and was not an efficient or friendly server. We did not like our experience at all. I do not recommend this place for families.

Jennie L.

Yelp
I am really disappointed by how they are coping with COVID. First of all you have to download the menu on the phone. My phone wouldn't scan the barcode, and they didn't seem to have back up menus. Our server was short and unfriendly and not helpful at all. Luckily my friend arrived and she was able to download a much slimmer menu. Then, our "server" who actually didn't serve us anything, said we needed to go get our food and pay online. To pay online you need to open an account (?) and give out personal information. Neither of us was comfortable with that so the server rolled her eyes and said that if we insisted we could pay at the machine. And it was a tap. No idea why you would make your customers open an account to pay via phone when you have a tap machine. We asked for water which we got tiny glasses of with no refills. And after we got our food, there was no asking if we needed anything else, and we had to clean up our own dishes. I felt like I was paying for a friggin summer camp experience. We were both super disappointed. Why open your restaurant to the public when you have no intention of serving them. I have been to around 20 restaurants and I have never seen such mismanaged bad service and COVID protical. Both servers who really didn't do anything and looked like they hated being there. Both of us had the falafel bowl which was tasty but was completely ruined by the atmosphere. I haven't had such a bad experience in many years. I probably won't ever go back even when COVID is over. If you want a nice enjoyable experience stay clear of here.

Yelp
I love this place!! One of my favourite places to go to in Edmonton . For vegetarian friends and all their dishes feels genuine and fun. It has that casual cozy vibe I enjoy too done in their own way. Staff is nice too. They have some fun drink blends as well with beetroot or tumeric :D One thing though, they don't take credit cards. Only debit or cash. I come here for their food and have always been too full to eat their desserts but I've heard good things about the dessert as well.

Carol P.

Yelp
Happy that they are Vegan ! I'm a cook and figured out suboptimal quality for this order. Disappointment that the curry bowl was excessively greasy. The French fries looked and tasted like a batch was refried. I've eaten at Cafe Mosaic for more than a decade and am not happy to see the quality deteriorate.

Nicole A.

Yelp
This place is always so busy when I walk by Whyte Ave and now I know why! It is such good food!! Honestly while eating their laughing monkey hot pot I thought to myself "Maybe I could become a vegetarian!" Anyone who knows me will say that it is impossible that I even thought about it haha It was a really flavourful bowl of satay soup with vegetables, vermicelli, kale and peanuts. Try it! I would go during the day if you can though, it is very busy in the evenings especially on weekends.

Stephanie R.

Yelp
Inventive menu, eclectic but well thought out. I really appreciate the creativity in their selection of certain ingredients that really punch up dishes that are otherwise old standards. A sprig of rosemary on a seared grapefruit half. Egg benny not only served on hash, but hash with a mix of potatoes and yams. Flax in YEG's most ubiquitous dish, the G.O.C.! Unexpected twists like that really add excitement to any meal. I especially enjoy that sort of thing in their all day breakfast items... if I just wanted regular eggs and hashbrowns, I could go to any old dinner. Vegetarian restaurant with many vegan and gluten free options that you won't find elsewhere. Great atmosphere here, the renos were a brilliant choice, it took the décor from mediocre to something imaginative to be admired. Though they are unapologetic about their music selections, it suits me fine because it's way better than elevator music... worse still, one fine dinning establishment I once brunched at played commercial radio and it was really off putting... so Mosaics staff, rock on with your bad selves!

Pamela D.

Yelp
I had been to Cafe Mosaic in the summer time with friends and we shared a few light dishes. That was back when the sun was shining and the patio was the place to dine. This time I was solo and wanted heat and wifi. I came in all bundled up from the freezing cold and sat by the window to watch Whyte Ave bustling by. It was lovely and cosy inside. The decor is airy and bright and the vibes are relaxed and cool. It was no big deal to be alone, in fact there were quite a few people by themselves reading or working away so I felt quite comfortable. The waitress greeted me and brought me a bottle of chilled still water and a cool wee jar to drink from. I spent quite a bit of time perusing the menu. There is A LOT in there. It was so hard to choose. I ditched the lighter options my friends and I shared, as I needed hearty and hot. I was tempted by the broth but in the end couldn't resist the veggie burger. It came with a spinach salad that was sweet and flavourful, strawberries, blueberries and quinoa topped with a balsamic dressing. The burger was BIG. The patty itself seemed to be carrot and zucchini based and was very tasty on the bun, with a zing of mustard. I ate it all. Not even a leaf of spinach was left on my plate. It was the right amount of food. All the fresh ingredients, local produce and beautiful presentation that went into my meal, made it a wonderful late luncheon for one. I was carbed up and ready to face the cold again.

Yelp
This place has amazing, fresh, delicious dishes. You can come in for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have been here a few times and so far I have not been disappointed. The restaurant is small so do expect it to be a bit loud specially if they are playing music. Still it is a hip cool place to hang out with friends or a date!!! I would recommended specially if you have dietary restrictions.

Yelp
This is a nice vegetarian / vegan cafe on Whyte Ave in Edmonton that I've gone to a few times with friends. This time we came as a group of 4. It has quite a relaxed atmosphere and serves a variety of breakfast, hot meal, dessert options as well as an extensive drink menu - nice for relaxing alone or meeting up with others. Atmosphere: 3.5/5 The first time I came, it was difficult to find as there is no sign outside! But overall the cafe is pretty chill - if it is not too busy, most people come in and seat themselves. Overall clean and relaxed. It can be difficult to find parking on Whyte ave but there is usually some in the street behind. Food: 3.5/5 I tried a few menu items and most were pretty good. This time I had the happy cow stir fry which came with root vegetables, quinoa, and a fried egg. Good portion size and came out sizzling hot! I had wanted less sauce but at the end, there was still quite a bit of teriyaki sauce in the bottom. Overall a satisfying meal. We also shared the vegan chocolate cake. The cake itself tasted different but I like the chocolate icing! Service: 3/5 It did get quite busy so the servers could not get to everyone as quickly as anticipated and were a bit rushed, but overall nice. Price: 3/5 Reasonable but debit or cash only which was a bit inconvenient. Overall: 3.5/5 This is a nice place to meet up with friends or even for a quick snack in the middle of the day. It can get quite busy though. The food is good but does have a little too much sauce for me. I would like to try some of their drinks next and would come back.

Vicki M.

Yelp
Came here for an after-lunch dessert, specifically to introduce my friend to their vegan chocolate cake. I insisted we each order separate slices because it's normally so good you don't want to share. Unfortunately thist ime 'round, their chocolate cake was dry and not the usual moist chocolatey goodness I'm used to. The frosting was necessary and even then, it was a big effort to eat. I mentioned this to our server who had nothing to add. Disappointing service and disappointing cake. Not sure if I'll be back anytime soon.

Julie W.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times now and so far I've enjoyed both experiences. This restaurant has a rustic, casual interior which is perfect for brunch. It kind of reminds you of walking onto the porch of an old farmhouse with twinkling fairy lights on the ceiling. One of the things I like about the menu is that you don't really have to ask if things can be made vegan or gluten free. If there are options to alter vegetarian dishes to be made for an alternative diet restriction it's described right on the menu. This is the first place where I've seen macadamia nut milk and you really need to try it in a latte because it makes for the creamiest latte I've ever had. I had the vegan huevos rancheros on my most recent visit and really enjoyed the flavor. My only critique would be that the tortilla could have been a bit crisper. I know I've also had one of the bowls, which I enjoyed, but honestly can't remember which one because I remember it being difficult to figure out which one of the delicious options I wanted to choose in the first place. Just note that the restaurant accepts debit and cash only, so make sure to bring one of those options for payment.

Yelp
one of my favourite spots on whyte, & in general! the atmosphere is so cozy, and the food is fantastic! try the wings, and the mystery burger, non vegans should definitely throw an egg on the mystery burger. soooo good! staff is always fantastic as well. love love love this place. their mask mandate is VERY refreshing as well. if you don't want to wear a mask, you can eat elsewhere! cafe mosaics is doing a GREAT job keeping their staff & clientele safe. would give 10 stars if i could. great job guys.

Yelp
Amazing! We hadn't been back to check out this cafe since it was renovated and boy were we impressed. The vibe when you first walk in is charming and yet high energy. The local pottery art for sale on the walls gives it a uniqueness that feels like home; the cool feature walls give it an artistic modern feel; and the outdoor seating creates a welcoming presence. But enough to about the decor. The food totally blew us away! sitting down we took a look around and saw what other people were ordering and we ended up ordering the same dishes as the gals next to us. We had the pho with extra veggies- well worth it to get more veg. The lentil loaf with amazing mashed potatoes and apple chia sauce- this one was surprisingly a favourite and voted top at our table of all the things we tried. As well we ordered the raw zucchini pasta- it was super savoury and the only thing I'll make note of is to ask for a little less sauce. Drinks! We had a super delightful peppermint cocao latte- such a delight to the eyes and tastebuds. And the matcha latte one of the best we've ever had- we highly recommend it with cashew milk. All in all- well worth checking out- make sure you take some time to see their deserts they change everyday and are displayed in a case at the front.

Yelp
This is my first update since the virus. This places very good! I like the idea of the buying everything through the phone and what not and the food was great, but the menu on the phone needs a better system more pictures for people like me that don't know the menu or the food, overall it was a good time!

Diana S.

Yelp
Huge menu selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes!! Didn't even know where to begin... so went with the unicorn burger (can be made vegan by swapping Gouda for vegan cheese) and soup of the day. Wasn't super impressed by either. The burger was interesting, to say the least. Some may say the veggie patty is too dry and not well seasoned. It was kind of like eating a giant piece of tempura. Without the ketchup sauce it came with, it would've been very bland. The pineapple was interesting... Random and didn't add much to the harmony of the flavours though. And the bun was disappointingly store bought-like, I.e. soft and insubstantial. All the components of a good burger were not quite there. And all of this for $18. The soup that it came with was small and I'm not sure I understood the point of adding peanut butter to the broth that day. The broth was very watery and barely had any but butter flavour. I think the appeal of adding a nut butter to a liquid base is to increase the viscosity and make the texture more interesting. Unfortunately this was no different than big chunks of veggies swimming in peanut butter water. They do have coffee beverages, vegan desserts, and brunch options. If I ever come back, I think I'll stick with the breakfast options - vegan matcha pancakes, anyone? 5/5 for the service though! Great team here, so very sorry to leave a poor review for the food.

Yelp
On the Hunt for Vegan food since my sister decided on becoming full vegan, we decided to hit up Cafe Mosaics. We haven't been here since before the Renos so it would be a nice inviting change. The place looked sooo much better than before! The bright open space and big windows won me over. So we took a table by the windows of course :) Our server came with the menu and it says all day breakfast! I love breakfast but today I needed something a bit more hearty. We decided on the veggie chicken wings to start and I had the skinny cow bowl, my sister ordered the Pho. I made sure our server knew about my severe allergies to peanuts. The chicken wings came out first. It looked just like veggie chicken lol the dipping sauce was just yummy... There was a vegan ranch dressing which had a sort of grit to it but still very Delicious and a plum sauce which was also quite good. We finished it so fast. When our mains came I was so shocked at how big the Pho was but obviously my sister demolished the entire bowl and did not wait for me. When mine came you can still see the sizzling from the clay bowl which continued to sizzle throughout the entire meal. I'm going to be honest and say that it was difficult to eat because I kept on burning my tongue, lips and all the insides of my mouth. But ... Boy was it YUMMY! Ya who cares if the insides of my mouth was raw with pain, as long as the food was tasty it just didn't seem to matter until later that night... We were both so full after the meal but we kept looking at the desserts that were displayed in front of the counter, we just had to have a cupcake each. I had the Strawberry and my sister had the one with peanuts. I found the cupcakes dry and very cold but that's ok we had the last of the last. The only minor problem I had was that I had a small allergy reaction and I believe it was from the cupcake. And was probably because the cupcakes could have been cross contaminated with each other. It was a minor reaction thank goodness I didn't have to bring out that vicious epi pen. Overall it was a great experience, our server was awesome along side with our meal. Definitely heading back there soon.

Yelp
This is perhaps the hottest spot right now for vegetarians and vegans. The tremendous amounts of natural lighting, the unique mosaics on the walls, and the quaint lighting combines to create a very nice space to exist in. I chose the portobello quinoa risotto, which was essentially quinoa doused in coconut cream. It was very good and really quite spicy! My friend chose the laughing monkey hot pot. Upon receiving her meal, she remarked that the quality had fallen since her last visit only a few weeks ago (the aftertaste had changed). This lack of consistency was concerning but she still enjoyed her meal. As well, we mentioned that we were in a rush and the staff were very accommodating and served us our two dishes within 8 minutes. The peanut cupcake was beautiful and delicious. The icing was excellent (flaky on the outside and smooth and creamy on the inside) but the actual cake was a touch dry. For now, it's 4 stars due to the apparent lack of consistency and the dryness of the cupcake. I'll have to visit a few more times and then re-evaluate my review.

Recently delving into the world of vegetarian fare, I have come to a recommended spot, Cafe Mosaics. Located on Whyte ave, this health conscious restaurant has an atmosphere found in Southern California, much like Arizona. Spacious, wood trimmed, and bright, it's a good spot to try some food. Beginning with some positives about some of the dishes here was the Unicorn Burger. There's a veggie patty that might be pretty lame on it's on but the garnishes of a fried egg, beets, grilled pineapple, avocado aioli made this dish all gouda. Gouda is also on the burger. The curry bowl was decent that had seasonal vegetables, lentils, and a mix of brown  rice and quinoa. I felt like this dish was cheating as yellow coconut curry on top of anything would make it insanely delicious. There was also something slightly mushy, slightly sweet and fruit like thing in this bowl that I had no idea why it was in there and made it the most avoidable thing on the plate. The one dish i'd avoid here is the XL Mosaics Wings. Just avoid this heavily battered tofu and super deep fried mess. If i were to throw one of these at the window, it would most definitely shatter. Despite the dishes, Cafe Mosaics really shines with their drink options with vegan beer, vegan wines and many teas. Seeing as the owner is the same as Moth Cafe, the drinks will look similar and will tell you what symptoms they cure. Got inomnia? Boom there's a drink for that. Need to boost your defense? They got a drink for that. It honestly seems like a list you would see in a video game. Overall the drinks here are pretty great and seeing as the recommended dishes were adequate, I'd try other dishes if I desired to be a little healthier. Avoid those damn wings though. Sal says: Just Try It (3.7/5) Khadija says: Their burger was good! The portions are big

Yelp
I love coming here for The benny with the vegan hollandaise. A MUST...the benny is 4 stars but service is up and down.. FYI, they charge for lemon and take out containers. Do not be surprised...Everytime I go, they have NEVER told or reminded any of my friends or me.

Yelp
Great vegetarian and vegan food on Whyte Ave. You can grab something to go out sit and enjoy a meal. Every time I go, I have so much difficulty choosing because the menu is vast. Personal favorites include the vegan mac and cheese or curry dish. The place is always busy on weekends, so get there early for a table.

Yelp
This place is great! I recently tried it with my Aunt for lunch. I have to say I am impressed. I really enjoyed the decor of this restaurant. I always appreciate a unique decorating style. I loved the hanging ornaments and the artwork on the walls. Our orders were also served surprisingly quickly! That was a nice surprise I think they came out in about 10 minutes. I ordered the Lawrence Burger and thought it was delicious. I loved the toppings and the sauce. I also liked that I ordered it without sauteed mushrooms and it actually came without mushrooms! That has been a problem for me in the past! I would definitely return to this place and sample more of the menu. It was difficult to chose because all the items seemed so appetizing!

Yelp
It's happen to me before: go to a hyped-up whyte ave place and it is nothing special. I will be more skeptical next time I am lured that way again. I came on Saturday looking for a tasty veggie burger and some vegetarian food. We got the burger with the egg on it and the zucchini pasta dish. The burger was okay, nothing special though. Not sure how fried egg & pineapple mesh together. The zucchini pasta was not flavourful at all, I can whip up a similar dish at home in 10 minutes that is way tastier. And for $17??? I can't believe how expensive a raw, vegan zucchini dish with a few slices of mushroom could be. What a rip off!! Lamest $50 I ever spent on food. And I dine out often & eat a lot. 1 star for the look of the establishment Won't recommend or return.

Yelp
We've been going to Cafe Mosaics for years and overall they've got a great thing going. Pros: - The dishes are healthy and served quickly. I like that you can pick your sides on lots of dishes as well. - Great place to sit by the big open windows in the summer and people watch on Whyte Ave. - Comfortable to dine on your own or a small group. It is not really conducive to groups of 4+ - They're open really late for people who eat dinner at an odd hour like us. I think it is around 11pm or midnight but this is not posted on their website. Cons: - Service is generally good but if it's busy you can get overlooked as many times you kind of seat yourself. It's a bit confusing on your first visit on what you should do when you walk in. - The bench seating is not the most comfortable and the bathrooms are super cold! - The got rid of the falafel salad which was the best thing on the menu! - Signage is kind of non existent so if you haven't been here before, it is hard to find. - It appears the prices have changed again recently. Everything on the menu used to be $15 Cafe Mosaics is a lovely gem in the heart of Whyte Ave if you are looking for an eclectic place to grab a vegan/vegetarian bite to eat. Try the Laughing Monkey Hot Pot or Purple Cabbage Chickpea Falafel!

Yelp
Why must this place ruin my life. The food is so good. Like, think about it all day, know exactly what I'm gonna have when I get there good. Only problem, every time you get there it's closed!!! They seriously have the worst hours. I can't count the amount of times I've gone there and their closed. I've gone on a Sunday and it was closed. I've gone on a Monday and it was closed. Here I am on a Tuesday night all jacked up excited for their amazing nachos and ... Yep... CLOSED! I might boycott the place because their hours but the thought of never having the secret borrito with its amazing sauce makes me cry a little. There food is actually so good but I just can't deal with the emotional roller coaster of not getting it when I want it. Is that too much to ask?

Yelp
This was my first time at Cafe Mosaics! It was my friend's favourite spot in Edmonton, as as two vegans I love that we had so many options. The atmosphere is lovely! Bright and airy I loved the look of the place. While small, it didn't feel cramped and I love there is no sign on the door. It felt like a secret place. The waitress was nice although rarely checked on us, but recommended the veggie pho which was awesome! My friend is in love with their hummus salad (which is huge and hearty!) and we also ordered the salad rolls to start. Note: The salad rolls are not an appetizer, they come with a side and I was hoping they would be served with peanut sauce because I LOVE peanut sauce but no- hoisin instead. Really the filling was kinda gross but we got guacamole and corn chips as the side which were good. (I blend every cusine together I like) Overall I loved my pho dish and next time I want to try the spaghetti with tofu meat balls! Or a burger. :)

Yelp
Overall an amazing place. I've been coming here consistently for a couple years and have nothing but good things to say. Once in a while there is an item on the menu that may be a miss, but for the most part picking anything from the menu will leave you satisfied, and at quite a reasonable price at that. One of my favourite items are the wings. They come with a delicious ranch sauce and have an incredible taste and texture. The amazing flavors are something everyone should get the chance to experience at least once in their lifetimes. I cannot reccomend this place enough. Absolutely amazing.

Yelp
Always enjoy this location. Few issues with slow service or the establishment, but it usually resolves itself by the next visit.

Yelp
Cozy, cute, quaint, heck of a cool hipster Cafe. It is right at the beginning of Whyte, so there are a ton of other "cozy, cute, quaint" cafes around but Cafe Mosaics holds there own. And not just because it is vegan/vegetarian, the menu is good. The food is all quite good (not amazing, but it's a cafe, not upscale dinning). The guy that was our server was excellent: friendly, funny, quick and very accommodating to requests. They have a nice, if not excellent selection of teas, although a very unusual way of presenting them. And the Chai is made in house - I warn, it has got a kick! I highly suggest Mosaics for lunch. Maybe dinner. Tea/coffee, sure. Dessert, well, I'll be honest, all of you that say vegan chocolate is just as good: No, no no, you are crazy. It's not. So I did not have dessert, nor will I in the future ;p But I will definitely be back for lunch.

Yelp
Cafe Mosaics fuses vegetarian with super healthy and makes the most delicious dishes that you never thought possible. I've been here quite a few times, and I've never been disappointed. The atmosphere is very cool, boho, and earthy--very Whyte Ave! The servers are really nice, sometimes a little shy, but I find that kind of cute. The menu is pretty extensive, offering veggie and vegan dishes. The veggie burger is the best I've ever had, and the tofu stir fry is amazing. You can get this with brown or white rice, and the sauce is so good; I really want to know the recipe. I've had desert here too, including a dairy-free chocolate mousse and an apple and peach cobbler. The crumble on it was so good, and it was made with really healthy ingredients such as flax seed. Cafe Mosaics is also very good for catering to certain diets restrictions, so do not be afraid to tell them your concerns. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who isn't a fan of vegetarian food. I'm sure it will change your mind.

Yelp
Man brunch done right makes me happy! I love the concise weekend brunch menu, as when given a lot of choices.... I tend to flail a bit. I opted for the tofu scramble and my dining companions had pancakes and crepes (which were raved about) Tofu scramble is always a toss up, but this one did not disappoint. It was nicely spiced with some mixed veg, the hash browns were GOOD, the sausages were vegan, and so on. Shut up. Free parking on Whyte on the weekends - which is unheard of in Vancouver by the way, so it felt like a HUGE score. Our server was fantastic - helpful, friendly, and attentive. The cafe vibe makes it feel like you could be brunching at home, they play wicked music - loud, aaaaaand the dudes working in the kitchen sport the most ahdorable aprons! LOVE. I will definitely be back to try the dinner menu.

Yelp
The place has been renovated and has lost the hippy feel, but it is a lot more spacious and bright. The music is still loud - so loud that we could not hear each other at our table where we were trying to have a meeting. Cool artwork still adorns the walls and the menu still has all of my favourites plus a few new items.

Yelp
DELISH! Great space, love the unique menu, everything was seasoned perfectly. Will definitely be returning.

Yelp
I had the Open Secret rice bowl with vegan cream cheese instead of regular cheese and it was amazing. I recommend to anyone looking for a delicious healthy meal. The service was great and our food was out within 15 minutes.

Yelp
Cafe Mosaics is one of the restaurants that I knew I was going to miss when I moved away from Edmonton. I try to make an effort to go back as often as I can. This restaurant is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My personal favourite menu item would have to be the vegan wings but I'm also crazy about their onion cakes, tofu scrambles, and burgers. To be honest, there isn't a single item on the menu that I've been disappointed by. They have a great drink menu as well. Make sure to try one of their house-made juices! I love Mosaics' new post-renovation look. Yes, it isn't as cozy and eclectic as the restaurant used to be but instead it's open, bright, and airy. It's a great place to have an intimate meal or to drop by with a group. Service can be a little slow so go elsewhere if you're in a rush but if you aren't, it's definitely worth the wait!

Yelp
Pasta with jackfruit, basil, & sundried tomatoes was tasty. Service fast and attentive, yet relaxed. Marvellous and original vegan and vegetarian options.

Lindsay M.

Yelp
This place is great for every meal of the day! For starters, their tea menu is fantastic and there are plenty of flavours to try! Their menu is extremely accommodating of dietary restrictions, and the staff is always great about asking me questions to make sure that my meal won't hurt! Their portions are decently large, so I'm never hungry once I leave. My favourite dish is their tofu scramble with hashbrowns and fruit. The vibe of the place is also fantastic, so it is a great place to bring newcomers or visitors if you want to wow them with great atmosphere and delicious food!

Yelp
I'd love to have given Cafe Mosaics more than a 3 star review. It's a decent place that's a little dated in their idea of being modern. It's okay if they were old school, but they're not. The menu is filled with vegan friendly and vegetarian options along with a variety of interesting sounding dishes. The prices are quite good too. The quality of the food is okay. Nothing that really blows me out of my socks or makes me think - wow, what a gem of a place! I remember having the portobello mushroom salad here recently and found the dressing too be too strong in flavor - too much of balsamic vinegar. The mushroom pieces were tasty but the greens were just too hard to eat. They also have a simple house coffee that's reasonably strong and works for a morning jolt. The ambience is slightly hippie in feel and reflects the older culture of Whyte that seems to be getting lost nowadays. Lots of posters of music, comedy and theatre adverts on the wall. The staff is friendly and approachable and the service is pretty fast. I think it's a lovely little place but they need to work on their menu and make the tastes a wee bit more subtle.

Yelp
Every time I eat here I have an awesome experience! I find the food is always so fresh and flavorful I don't know what kind of unicorn magic they use in that kitchen but it is amazing! It can be a bit of a wait to get in sometimes but well worth it and they also have cute decor for sale that switches up from time to time so way to go Cafe Mosaic keeping it fresh and interesting. I would have to say their pumpkin mac and cheese with the kale side salad is one of my favorite comfort foods! Definitely one of my favorite hotspots and I'm not even a vegetarian ;)

Kayla S.

Yelp
I love going out for food that you wouldn't make at home normally. Everytime I eat here it's something I have never attempted myself and probably won't because I'm too cheap and lazy to source out all the ingredients/I'd never make it as tasty as they can. The menu was updated since the last time i was there which is fun because there's so much more to try! The pumpkin mac and cheese was delicious. I don't understand the crisp kale on top but it was allllll good. The caesar kale salad on the side was so generously big! Mmmmmm I love that dressing. Next for trying will be the falafel and pho. The service was great as well. It definitely got crowded by 7pm and multiple groups were standing waiting for tables. But that's what happens when you have high quality food and service. Worth the wait!
