This Cape Town Café has been in the same location, in the heart of Church Street, in the centre of Cape Town, for many decades. It is a firm favourite with locals and tourists alike. Being situated right next to the Association for the Visual Arts and a clutch of commercial and other non-commercial art galleries, it is a natural home for artists, curators, and art lovers. What makes it so special is their wide seated area outside nestled between the Church Street collectables stalls. Most other eateries in the city have to make do with one or two tables on the sidewalk, Mozart easily fits ten tables on their part of the pedestrianized part of Church Street. And you sit under trees.
They make the best iced coffee, almost like a coffee milkshake, in town, hands down. It is made with almond milk, which gives it a heavenly richness.
If you are having lunch, I recommend one of their comfort food dishes, like the chicken curry, Malay style, or their Bobotie, another Malay classic. It is served slightly deconstructed, so it is very fresh. It is hearty and delicious, especially after a long session of walking the city centre and visiting its galleries.
This Café is an institution and will not disappoint, visit Church Street, its collectables market, and the stellar galleries on this street and around the area and drop in for a coffee or lunch at this much-loved local spot.
