"Popular Coffee Spot This small, independent coffee shop offers excellent coffee (many say the best in the city), and also has an extensive food menu, including a set meal which changes daily. They roast their own coffee and make pastries on site too. There's free Wi-Fi, but no electrical outlets, so bring your devices fully charged if you plan to do some work. It's a popular spot, and often jam-packed, so sometimes the best option is to get your coffee to go."

Stopped by this place at the recommendation of my airbnb host- very happy we did. The food was absolutely delicious! The venue is hidden amongst a row of colorful buildings and is very inviting- the only downside is the inside is sort of small/cozy & there's no terrace seating. It's very clean inside, and the servers were very attentive- everything we ordered came quickly and was very delicious. They have wifi on site too, so you can sit and work if you need to. Definitely make this a stop on your food tour, you won't be disappointed.

Great options for a light lunch at this cheery cafe. Our server didn’t smile or welcome us, but food arrived hot and as ordered. :) The chicken sandwich is tasty with fresh vegetables and tender and flavorful chicken. An updated take on beans-on-toast can’t be beat—a great option for vegetarians. Try the tejate drink—sweet and refreshing!

I ordered the burrito breakfast and tejate. Both were good - I was a little surprised with the taste of tejate as I didn't really know what it was and what to expect but for me it was one of those drinks you appreciate more the more you drink it. I was pleased with the experience in general, the place was clean and had good service + wifi. The only thing is the setup is a little weird in my opinion and so it's not the best atmosphere.

They are just across from our apartment. What a fortune! Their coffee (espresso and cappuccino) is excellent, as well as their empenadas de mole, and cornices. We loved the huevos Zapotecos and the huevos Motuleños. Highly recommend!

This little cafe serves a hearty breakfast at a good price. The coffee was very good and so was the chocolate. The servers are very nice and helpful. We sat and hung out after our meal because I work remotely and had to get some things done prior to exploring the town and they were very nice about it. I would recommend this cafe to anyone looking for both a traditional American eggs, bacon, and toast as well as Mexican breakfast items. We are heading back tomorrow for round two.

Recommended to me by a few locals and it was truly good. Service was a tad slow as so many guests but was worth the wait. Also nice location - 5 minutes to zocalo and 2 minutes to museums.

If you love specialty coffee, this is not the place to go. Don't get fooled by photos, this is what you really get when you order cappuccino:

Clean, very attentive good service. However that’s kind of where it stops being above average. Ordered the Jamón Serrano baguette, limonada natural and a brownie to go. While the read was fresh it was chewy which while not great for the Serrano it was everything else that buried any hint of the barely there in quantity Jamón Serrano. The Tomato was oversized but again fresh, same for the red onion and lettuce. There also was simply a lopsided portion of cheese to Jamón Serrano ratio that caused this to fail. The chopped fried potatoes were heavy on the salt as well. Then come the brownie- it’s a cake like brownie which we’ve all had at some point but it was very dry and only came with a white dusting on top which made things worse. Something moist to top would be a much better choice for this block of cake. It’s too bad I seem to remote this place in a better light two years ago.

Yelp
First time here and it was a good experience. Environment: Small but home style seating. Food: I order the chilaquiles and they were good. However, the sauce was pretty watery and lacked in flavor. Drinks: I order just a plain coffee and it was decent. Staff: The staff here was GREAT! There were several servers walking around, and they were very attentive .

Yelp
One of the best spots in Oaxaca to get Chocolaté Oax! Would go at least 2-3 times a week here. On some days they would run out. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
From the look of the place, you'd say you were in heaven. A small little cafe in an old building serving gringo food and drinks. Yes please! I came to try the coffee which looked good in the photos on Yelp. And boy was I disappointed. A frothed up, pure white foam cappuccino with scalded milk. Is there anything worse? Barely. I knew before I drank this beastly drink that it would be bad and it was. It's almost as if it came from one of those $2 coffee machines you see at train stations. Just awful. So while I can't comment on the food, I can comment on the coffee. And it's bad.

Yelp
Great coffee great breakfast and great location. Prices are a little more than expected then again you are located in the heart of town. Great staff and great product overall. I went back and purchased 2 kilos of their medium roast.
