Perfect brunch spot after the Quarry Rock hike with my 9 year old. She got the chocolate banana waffles and I got the European breakfast. Such fresh, quality food, and their tea will please even the biggest snob. Very bright and open space with good decor.

After a morning of skiing at Mount Seymour, I somehow managed to find a parking spot near Café Orso, a minor miracle, really, given that Deep Cove’s parking situation often feels like an extreme sport of its own. Stepping inside, the café is instantly inviting. The high ceilings and warm decor make it the perfect place to unwind, defrost, and pretend I’m the kind of person who regularly enjoys peaceful mornings with a good book and an oat milk latte. The atmosphere is relaxed, the kind that makes you want to stay longer than you intended, assuming, of course, you don’t have to move your car in 30 minutes. There’s a solid selection of coffee and bites, all well-executed and satisfying. No complaints except perhaps that I didn’t order more. A great spot to refuel, reflect on the day’s ski runs, and enjoy the smug satisfaction of having found a parking space before the crowds descended.

Google
Lovely place in Deep Cove; we tried the iced caramel macchiato and wished that it was bigger because it was delicious. The place is gorgeous and it's definitely got a backcountry vibe; staff was also very attentive. The only thing that we didn't like very much was the brownies. They were a bit old and not crunchy or fresh. Other than that, fantastic experience.

Google
They messed up our drink, which was fine, but were really rude about it when giving back the new one. The workers here are all young teenagers with no customer service skills

Google
Cute cafe, heard about them on tik tok. Their food menu is kinda pricey, the drink menu is average going price. However, I wish the size of drinks were bigger. Their dirty chai latte is delicious. Would I recommend this place? Yes. Lots of seating. A great place to relax on a rainy day. I’d definitely choose this place over honeys.

Google
During a recent coffee break, I visited here and ordered their carrot cake along with a freshly brewed coffee and a lavender coffee. The experience was pleasant, albeit average in terms of taste. Let's start with the positives: the customer service was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure I had everything I needed promptly. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a comfortable spot to unwind or catch up with friends. As for the food and drinks, while they were decent, they didn't quite stand out. The carrot cake was moist but lacked the depth of flavor I expected. The freshly brewed coffee was good, though not particularly memorable. The lavender coffee had a subtle floral note, which was interesting but didn't wow me.

Google
Delicious food, good service and a nice atmosphere. Plenty of selection for tea and coffee and a good mix of sweet and savoury brunch options. Seating area and washrooms were clean and well maintained.

Google
Super cute but busy cafe! Especially busy after the other coffee shops in the neighborhood close. Chai latte was delicious:) super vibey and aesthetic interior. Might pick up a bite here next time! Parking is pretty challenging around this area. It’s free street parking for an hour, but usually it’s all full.

Yelp
One of the great joys of staying in Deep Cove, North Vancouver has been finding this wonderful restaurant! The service was friendly (which was not the case at a local donut shop...and I always consider this as a BIPOC), the coffee was on point and the food was amazing. We came back for seconds today and may have to come again before leaving this beautiful area! I also love supporting BIPOC businesses so that's a plus! I'm also excited about doing my first ever espresso flight! Wish me luck as my heart goes into overdrive. LOL

Yelp
They were so friendly behind the counter and blown away by the oatmeal raisin cookie and the chocolate chip one that were so chewy, crunchy, and perfectly sweetened. The modern interior was clean and the coffees were superb as well. If I lived in this neighborhood would be a much more frequent visitor.

Yelp
Excellent food! We had charcuterie board, tomato bisque, tomato melt, waffles and carrot bread. All were superb! I highly recommend!

Yelp
We wanted to try something local after doing the Quarry Rock hike. Food is yummy and coffee is okay. I would have given 4 stars but it seems the sandwiches were reversed for me & my husband. My meal was supposed to be the Sour Tuscan - open faced sandwich w/ roasted red peppers and Tuscan salami with cheese and arugula. I only got grilled cheese and it was mostly spinach. At least hubby shared some of his meat with me. He ordered the Ploughman Lunch which was supposed to be grilled cheese and meat on the side but his sandwich had salami and some red sauce with cheese on top plus the cold cuts & avocado. So my guess was the sandwiches were reversed. Only thought about this after going home when I reviewed the menu again.

Yelp
Great food, great selection, presentation and friendly service. The place is bright and fresh. Very comfortable to sit,eat and enjoy your surroundings.

Yelp
Hands down best waffle I ever had. Fruit was fresh and coffee was delightful! Nice aesthetic and friendly service.

Yelp
Small cafe in Deep Cove. It's the westernmost food option on Galiant St. Clean and bright interior, with a small bar, small tables on the sides, and a couch area in the middle. The serve coffee, light meals and also alcohol is on the menu. Went there on a weekday and there were plenty of visitors in Deep Cove, which meant pretty good business for this cafe as well. Ordered a few the food options. Got the breakfast platter which included some cured meats, avocados, and grilled cheese on sourdough bread. Also got the half tuna cheese sandwich with a bowl of the tomato soup, and an order of the waffles which was 3 small waffles with bananas and whipped cream. The food was alright, not bad, but nothing noteworthy either. They are light meal, so portions are not very substantial.
google avatar

Yelp
The place needs a good cleaning. There is stuff everywhere, walls are dirty, floors are gritty, and the fabric cushions on the chairs / couch look like they have never been washed. Needs a spruce up. Parallel 49 coffee on tap
google avatar

Yelp
Cute spot for a Hatfield white wine. Servers were lovely and the Adirondack chairs outside were relaxing and very easy to physically distance on a beautiful, sunny day.

Yelp
I used to live nearby so got to go here regularly when they first opened, and loved it. Since moving away, I've missed this place! These are new owners so I was curious if it would be just as good. Happy to report, nothing has changed and everything was great! We had liege waffles with strawberries and avocado toast. Everything was delicious and delivered with a smile. Also, for Deep Cove this place is very reasonable. There's no outdoor seating like the places closer to the water, which was fine with us... on a hot day, we enjoyed the AC. We were 3 people and light breakfast with coffee/teas was about $40 including tip. It's a relaxing space and you do not feel rushed. I look forward to coming here again on my next visit back to my old hood.

Yelp
I'm in love with a coffee shop! I had the hot chocolate and a liege waffle, and those two alone got me planning my next visit to deep cove, just so that I can get another cute cup of cocoa and nibble of my mochi textured liege waffle! Ambience is super chic, cute, and clean! Definitely coming back, and definitely highly recommended! Did I mention there's bears everywhere?!?!?! There's cute bear decor and motifs everywhere!!! Such a cute finishing touch!

Yelp
I really love how bright and beautifully designed this cafe is. They offer a variety of drinks (including beer), lunch options, and waffles. I ordered a Daily Soup (tomato bisque). The soup was tart, but quite delicious. The consistency was right and the addition of feta cheese made the soup less boring and more "meaty". The toasted bread on the side was crunchy, perfect for dunking into the soup. I think the dish was decent, but not worth $10 (after tax and tips). At the end of the day, it was tomato soup with a little cheese and a slice of toast. Service could be improved as well. I walked in, looked at the menu, and stood in front of the counter waiting for someone to help me. A few staff walked out from the back, but no one helped me or greeted me.

Yelp
Good pastry & coffee! When I go to Deep cove, I have my go to so last time I was in the area I made a mental not to ditch the go to and come here instead and I'm glad I did. Super cool, modern, very clean cafe. I gravitate to the pastries, no surprise there and they have my fave almond croissant. I also grab a latte. They also offer other things in their menu, which I cant wait to try on future visits. The friendly barista made my latte just the way I liked it. The carry 49 parallel coffee. The almond croissant was just divine, buttery, crunchy and soft middle.. yummy! Lots of seating indoors and a handful of outdoor as well. Im glad a came in and wont be the last.
google avatar

Cara T.

Yelp
The best coffee in Deep Cove and friendly staff. Comfortable seating. Cute decor. I go for their flat white. Their waffles and open-faced sandwiches are consistently really good. Also try the almond croissants! I do think they should have more outdoor seating, although I'm not sure how they would make that work given their location. Definitely a must try if you're in the area!

Yelp
I visited Deep Cove many times but it was the first time to try Cafe Orso. They told me the latte was very good, so I ordered it. Indeed the texture of the latte was very smooth and it tasted excellent. The environment was very comfortable. The staff was friendly. The cafe wouldn't rush you to leave. Their waffles are very special but I did not order any because I had already had lunch. They made the waffles at the cafe. Cafe Medina also sells their waffles. I tried their waffles before. It was great. I just didn't order them at Cafe Orso. If you never tried their waffles, you should definitely order them at Cafe Orso.

Yelp
it's worth heading away from the water and hitting up Cafe Orso for lunch while in Deep Cove. they were really friendly, the food was really good and the decor was clean, crisp and simple. had a grilled tomato and cheese with this blueberry balsamic (oh the balsamic!) as well as a local Deep Cove beer. it was a lot of food and it was quite tasty. no complaints. i would go back any time. i came home with a cute t-shirt as well. added bonus!

Yelp
I came here pretty hungry, which was perhaps a mistake. I was looking for a great breakfast, but unfortunately they were sold out of bread so options were limited. The portion sizes were pretty small - maybe a bit European but not great when you're really hungry! I liked that the food was fresh, but the strawberries didn't seem local even though it was strawberry season, so that was a bit disappointing. I really liked the t-shirts they had and wish I had bought one. I'd probably come back here for a hot drink but not a meal.
google avatar

Hossein J.

Yelp
So we tried the tomato soup was ok not my favorite. The tuna melt was nice. Nutella banana waffle and it was pretty good it could be a bit kore crispy . The food overall looks pretty good. The Biggest disappointment was the cappuccino. As you can see not much love was put into it. I love to explore coffee shops everywhere I go and I was looking forward to the espresso drink here as it looked good on the pictures. So the reason I give it a 3 is because the drink was a 2 and the food was a 4 which makes the over all experience a 3.
google avatar

Parastou A.

Yelp
I came here mainly for specialty coffee and it was a bit of disappointment. Either they were busy or didn't know better. I had their tomato soup was decent. The waffle looked really good. My kids liked it. Tuna melt was pretty decent. Their service was good. Their decor for this area was excellent. 3.5 to 4 star.
google avatar

Melody L.

Yelp
The hot cocoa with the marshmallow was a nice touch. I do wish the marshmallow was toasted since it's not "in" the drink but more of a garnish... it would have been nicer to eat toasted. OR I wish it was in the hot chocolate so it could melt a bit and be more apart of the drink itself. I loved the paintings and the bear theme but I didn't like how crowded the seating was but I get it... pack as many seats in as possible. It made it hard to have a convo with friends.

Yelp
Loved this place! It's hip, but friendly. Clean, fresh and relaxing. We stopped here early this morning to get a quick bite before our hike up Quarry Rock. It was so cute and the food is delicious! I had the avocado toast and Lovie had the Ploughman's breakfast. Both come with this really rich tasting curried apple coconut jam stuff that is so incredible. You wouldn't think it would be good with avo toast but the blend of flavors was heavenly. I can wait to go back!

Yelp
You're driving around Deep Cove looking for a parking spot, and are about to give up and go home. Don't! Drive around once more, find that spot, and eat at this amazing cafe. This old fashion modern style cafe is serving delicious food on the north shores hippest part of town. We actually just came for a t-shirt (sadly they didn't have the shirt I wanted ) and we stayed for lunch. I had the Tomato Melt and it's seriously TDF. My partner had the Ploughman's. We both loved our meals. I definitely will return as I want to try one (or two) of their waffles. They looked amazing! Love love loved this place!

Yelp
I was recently there after a quick hike at Quarry Rock and I wasn't all too impressed with the experience. The cafe itself is quite nice, I really like the interior and coziness of the place. I ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice which was $5 so I was expecting a decent sized glass. After everything else arrived, I had asked for my juice, which they forgot to bring over. And I was watching her pour the juice from a jug, I saw that the jug had very little left and assumed they will probably make more or let me know it's not enough. But instead she poured it into a glass (size of a stemless wine glass) and it looked barely full enough to be considered a glass-- although I can't speak for how much they would normally serve if they had more juice available. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with this and I can see that most of their menu is pretty pricey, such as $12 avocado toast. I don't see myself going back the next time I'm in deep cove, and if I do, I will surely avoid the OJ.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch while boating. The food is absolutely amazing! Bread is homemade and fresh. My son loved the waffles, daughter got plain grilled cheese, I had the avocado on toast and my husband had a tuna melt and tomato bisque. Only cost $46 for all 4 of us. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Cute little quaint place in Deep Cove. I've been stalking and drooling over their food pics on instagram. Made a special trip out here with m boyfriend. Specializing in locally sourced ingredients and eureopean inspired food. This place was quite amazing. Bright open space nice decor. They have deep cove ( I think it was deep cove) craft beer and blasted church on tap. The waffles were amazing and worth the $12 price tag. Waffles are baked in house, they were served warm. Fresh fruit, light on the sauces. It's a good thing! It didn't take away the flavour from the waffles themselves.
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
I wrote a fantastic review for this place because of their amazing coffee. They let go of one barista (Italian guy) who could make coffee properly. Now you get a half gallon of milk with your dry cappuccino or macchiato. Just disaster of drink. This cafe was one place I loved to drink coffee at, but no more. Sad to see the quality drop or collapse.
google avatar

Elizabeth K.

Yelp
This little place is very trendy and cute. The Belgian waffles are to die for. The ingredients are extremely high quality which results in higher prices, but that's how it usually goes! I'd definitely recommend the caramel sauce with the waffles and getting a coffee. Be sure to take a walk in the neighbourhood afterward, goes perfect with the coffee. ;)
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
The service, the food, the ambiance, are all top notch up in heeeeeere. Due to the UNBELIEVABLY UNREAL DELICIOUSNESS of the avocado toast.... it's possible that this place is playing a big role in that demise of us Millennials that Buzzfeed is always on about. Seriously folks. THE AVOCADO TOAST AVEC HOUSE MARMALADE OR PRESERVE OF SOME KIND. It's everything. It's amazing. It's a must have. Oh yeah, their coffee and waffles and blah blah blah are pretty good too. Ahem! Avocado Toast.
google avatar

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
I feel like they sell everything. Coffee. Waffles. Craft Beer. Fresh baked goods. And pepperoni sticks! I'm knocking off a star because they didn't have soy milk. And although I'm a fan of almond milk, sometimes it doesn't always work with my chai/latte. But other than that, it's a great new coffee space in Deep Cove and it's definitely worth visiting again whenever I'm in the area! PS. Great spot to grab a cold drink after hiking Quarry Rock!
google avatar

Chantal A.

Yelp
Cafe Orso is by far the best cafe in Deep Cove. Compared to honey's, the food, service, drinks, prices, and atmosphere is amazing!!!! Their coffee is really nice, and much of the food is local and incredibly delicious.
google avatar

Karen L.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and drinks. We ordered the European breakfast, lavender latte, and dirty chai. Was not super impress but was not bad either. The drinks were good but the European breakfast was slightly overpriced for what it is. I don't have too much to say about customer service. Was not amazing but not terrible either. Somewhere in the middle, haha. Overall, lovely space in a nice neighbourhood.
google avatar

Blair Y.

Yelp
My god we loved this place, and can't wait to return on our next visit to Deep Cove this October. The avocado toast is beyond amazing... and the curried apple coconut preserve they serve with it was delicious. I had a chai latte, Heather had a matcha latter, and we had a fabulous morning. Beautiful cafe, great staff in an awesome little town... what more can you ask for on a late Saturday morning?
google avatar

Kym J.

Yelp
I absolutely love this spot. I've been twice now and the servings are just the right amount of food before or after the Quarry Rock hike. The first time my boyfriend and I shared one of the Meat & Cheese boards which was wonderful. This time around I had the Plowman's Lunch and my boyfriend had the European Breakfast, which were both excellent. The atmosphere is nice; it's large, bright and open and has a casual feel to it. You order at the counter then seat yourself and the food is brought out to you.
google avatar

Doug R.

Yelp
I've been there only once in the past few weeks. What I really liked was the friendly girl at the counter who started asking me questions in an attempt to build a connection. I did like the drink I received as well, the ambiance is pretty good. I didn't order anything to eat, as I just came from an early lunch, just a iced mocha (which was really good) The only one thing I didn't like, and that I've seen in another review is the kind of 'in your face' tipping system. When I order a drink, the Barista / Cashier turns around her POS system and immediately I'm shoved into an anxiety filled position as the giant tip letters come up on the screen. I read the response, I know other companies do it, but they are not as in your face about it. Also, other companies do not ask you to tip first before processing the transaction. I feel that I want to be given the option to tip on the pin pad that I used, because then it wouldn't be so in my face. I have reluctantly decided not to come back because of the unease it made me feel. If I click 'no tip' will the baristas scowl at me the whole time I'm there, will I be judged on such a huge thing in the business? I would like to make that decision myself. A rethink is in order.
google avatar

Fred F.

Yelp
This is a nice little restaurant, but the prices are very expensive for what you get. Two lattes, waffles, and a avocado toast, $45!! I think $30 would be pushing it. They do bring your food to the table, but the rest is up to you, cutlery, water, drinks. Nice to see new food options in the village, but I feel these prices will kill this one. They have everything to make a great little dinner but with Honeys just down the street it's a tough sell.
google avatar

C L.

Yelp
Using 49th Parallel espresso and Rain or Shine vanilla icecream, the affogato is an amazing drink on a summer day. Still craving it 2 months later. Also, never knew something as simple as avocado toast could be so good. Service & decor was outstanding. Can I give this place more than five stars? Perfect to go before or after sitting at Panorama Park overlooking the water.
google avatar

EB C.

Yelp
Such a cute place and our brunch was delicious with clearly high-quality ingredients. We had to try a Belgian waffle with the caramel sauce. It was heavenly. Goes perfectly with a coffee. We also tried the avocado toast which was presented in a lovely way with slices of avocado and a luscious, albeit tiny, side of some sort of marmalade that took it to extraordinary. Finally, we split the European breakfast board which was very good but in my opinion, not substantial enough. Loved all the cheeses and jams and sweet blueberries but all that plus the few slices of salami were not very filling. We had a perfect brunch by splitting all 3 items. Highly recommend overall as the quality of everything was exceptional.

Yelp
I ordered a London fog after the lady made it she said she was out of vanilla syrup when asking questions the lady wasnt friendly asked her for the ingredients in the baked stuff it's like she didn't really care hopefully the owner sees these reviews otherwise he won't have any customers

Yelp
This is one of the cutest cafe's I've ever been too! Where I live, we aren't as blessed to have such cool places as Vancouver, and I'm so lucky to have come here! This cafe is located in Deep Cove, and it's a really cute modern looking cafe. The insider has such nice decor, and the employees are super welcoming! On this trip, I had the Watermelon Kombucha, which was recommended by one of the employees and it was super refreshing. It tasted a little more like grapefruit, but was still really good. We got the avocado toast, and my boyfriend tried the waffle float. The avocado toast was so good! The bread it was on was super crunchy, but also soft. So good and so filling. The float was also super good if you're in a sweet mood. I'd come here anytime I'm back in Vancouver for the awesome avocado toast and good vibes!
google avatar

Yelp
Hands-down the best almond croissant in Vancouver! I drive from Kits to Deep Cove for this weekly and do a hike up Quarry Rock to burn off the calories!

Yelp
Cafe Orso This is THE place for good coffee and a bite in Deep Cove. After a nearby hike hit this cafe for fresh tasty eats and a good cuppa. And if you're avoiding that thing called gluten, grab something from next door at Bluhouse. The folks at Orso don't mind if you bring it in, since all their GORGEOUS yummies are all gluten filled, like the ham & cheese croissant and the beautiful, made to order Avocado open faced sandwich made on an artisan, whole wheat sourdough... *oh drool* Coffee by 49th, served from the sweetest Dutch made custom espresso machine I've seen in a while, the Spirit. The space is beautimous inside Orso. Just go, trust me, you'll like it.
google avatar

Millie H.

Yelp
Hipster cool but left hungry. Nice decor and good quality but go elsewhere if you don't want to spend $$$ for a double order. One 3" waffle just isn't worth $9, nor does it count as breakfast, Deep Cove or no Deep Cove premium. Menu not varied enough, although it seems long, but they just write everything out two or three times and the specials are the same as the menu. No eggs at all, really just a snack/coffee place. I don't recommend for breakfast unless you have already seen the menu and don't need lots of coffee (no refills).
google avatar

Arnie A.

Yelp
I came here after a morning hike at Quarry Rock with a friend. The ambiance was nice-- the place was bright, open and quiet, and honestly couldn't have been placed in a more perfect place -- so close to the pier in Deep Cove. The servers were also patient and helpful when asked questions. My friend and I ordered the European breakfast, and I also got a cappuccino. The coffee was fragrant, and flavourful, so I was satisfied. The European breakfast was a surprise to me, even though I read the description. The portion was small, compared to other restaurants, but I still rate it a five-star just because the food itself was really good, and the ambiance was great also. The cheese paired really well with the meat and jam, as well as the waffles. If you look at the pictures I posted, you will see how small the portion is. The funny thing is, it actually filled us up (which I think could have been because of the generous chunk of cheese they put on our breakfast board).
google avatar

Mel C.

Yelp
The coffee is good, with refills of drip coffee on the house, and the food is lovely. The ploughmans lunch with the curried apple compote is delicious. I liked the compote so much I bought a jar of it on the spot. The owners seem really hard working and kind. Oh, the decor is gorgeous. I want that faux antler chandelier!
google avatar

Stephanie H.

Yelp
We got the fresh falafel bowl and the sour Tuscan sandwich. Both were super delicious. Huge servings, beautiful presentation as well. Got a drip coffee (not our favorite) and an iced mocha which was really yummy. Definitely would come back here for waffles and avo toast.

Yelp
Love this place!!! Excellent flat white (consistently made perfectly), great friendly staff, delicious fresh food!!! Definitely worth visiting, and it is beautiful inside. A great place to hang out with friends over coffee.

Yelp
They have the best waffles!! Must try !!!I can spend the whole day here. Staffs are kind and friendly. The best please to spend the weekend at the north van.

Yelp
Best coffee (49th Parallel, properly brewed) on the North Shore, delicious Belgian waffles, amazing avocado on toast, affogato with Rain or Shine ice cream, beautiful modern decor, friendly staff - I highly recommend this new gem in Deep Cove. Aside from the waffles and fresh baked croissants, I loved the cheese and charcuterie board. Craft beers available as well.

Yelp
Had a great experience this morning at Cafe Orso all due to the charismatic young man that was working the counter. We wish we caught his name so we could give him a shout out! This kid was awesome and showed such impressive customer service skills. Coffee was also delicious!
