Great Eh

Google
Always great music at this place! Service can be a bit slow and food wasn't good. The calamari was greasy and had tons of batter. The vegan sandwich was lacking of flavour, but they were nice enough to split it in both plates, fries were on the cold side. But music was fantastic, so I'll just stick to drinks next time.

Google
I love this place. It's been five years, but hasn't changed a bit. I had the best Avocado Toast!

Google
It's definitely not the best service I received in SMA. The host turned his back on me as I walked in and refused to acknowledge me. O had to get the bartender's attention to be seated. My waiter was excellent. My chicken enmolada was delicious. In the host's defense, I was early by local standards, AND it was Saturday morning after the festival honoring San Miguel had started the evening before.

We went for Valentine’s Day. Food was great and a wonderful value. Great live music. It’s also very clean comfortable and all of the staff is very attentive. Wender,Alex and Leti are GREAT servers and people in general ❤️😇 we will go back often 👍

Google
Such a charming local cafe. Fantastic food from the complimentary chips and salsa and beans to the entrees and cake. We ordered the Jamaican drink with Hibiscus and cinnamon. Large serving and very flavorful. The soup of the day was Chicken and their take on this local classic included al dente veggies, which was a nice touch and made the soup much heartier. It was also served with the usual red onions, fresh cilantro, lime wedges, and avocado. Very tasty soup with a really good broth, which is key. We also ordered the pork panini, which was large enough to share, and included a lightly dressed salad with black sesame seeds, and a German potato salad. The pork was flavorful and tender and the flavors were a great combo on very good bread. Since my husband chose this cafe based on the desert selections, he had to get the carrot cake, which was very moist, dense and not too sweet. All in all, a great meal in a charming setting. We dined outside, but there are two dining rooms inside. The one with a fireplace would be a cozy spot on cold nights. Highly recommend and we'll be back to enjoy their highly popular Chilaquiles for breakfast/brunch. 4.5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Google
The service was good and there was loud live music. Some of the beers on the menu were not available but rather they had an Indian Pale Ale which was good. We didn't see the mole enchiladas on the menu. We had chicken taquitos and a shrimp/asparagus dish. The taquitos had less taste than expected and are not recommended. The shrimp and asparagus were good.

Google
This place is a fantastic choice for brunch! Their menu features Mexican favorites such as enchiladas and huevos rancheros. The interior is charming, adorned with artwork by local artists, creating a welcoming atmosphere. We opted to sit outside and it was the perfect choice, allowing us to enjoy our meal in a more relaxed setting, away from the busyness and noise inside. The pricing is favorable, making it even more appealing. We make it a point to visit this cafe every time we're in SMDA, and we highly recommend it!

Google
Really love this place, especially because it has so much great live music. But the food and service are also fantastic. I've been twice during my recent trip to SMdA, once for brunch and live jazz and again for after dinner drinks and live jazz. I am sure I'll be back again before I leave.

Yelp
Live music, lattes, pup friendly and amazingly cute ambiance. Homemade jam and smooth live jazz as the morning sun glows through the opaque solarium. Start your day on the right foot. .

Yelp
This place was a hidden gem! I mean the food in San Miguel is literally top notch everywhere, but this was a fantastic breakfast stop! The coffee in this restaurant was one of the best I have ever had and I actually went back 2 more times over my visit to grab more! If you're looking for a fun breakfast stop downtown San Miguel search this place out!

Yelp
Ok! I travel worldwide 8 times per year. It is very rare to find such a comforting and unique setting as Cafe Rama. The staff is welcoming and smiling upon entry, the warm fireplace beckons, and the unusual stylish and regionally representative furnishings comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on two overstuffed armchairs by the fireplace sipping on tall delicious multilayered cappuccinos. There was no rush with the staff encouraging relaxation while listening to the live foot tapping trio playing jazz; and not too loud so conversation easily was heard. The food was excellent and beautifully presented in quite large portions. Our waiter, Israel, even though a large man with a graying beard, was a giant teddy bear of a man. Friendly, knowledgeable, kind, and patient. I noted Cafe Rama is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We only ate breakfast, but three mornings in a row! Great job Cafe Rama.

Mark R.

Yelp
This is always an enjoyable place to have good food and drinks. It is has a great location and a unique , eclectic atmosphere. The service is great!

Alejandra G.

Yelp
Delicious food, amazing ambiance This place is definitely a must! We love the food, enjoyed the music and loved the art. The whole place is full of art pieces.

Yelp
Cafe Rama is a very attractive place but I'm not sure who it's for. It's very expensive but the food is really not very good. If it's supposed to be for gringos, the food is weirdly done. If it's for locals I've never seen this style before. Out of the three things I've tried the burger was the only one that was decent. The chicken taquitos were inedible, drier than cardboard and unappetizing in every way. The breakfast I had which I thought was supposed to be bacon and eggs turned out to be flanken-style beef ribs with ok fried potato cubes, bizarre green peas and overly dry toasted bread with jam. The thin beef ribs for breakfast was super strange but if it had been good I would have been pleasantly surprised. However , the beef tasted funky as if it had been marinated in red wine vinegar which left an odd taste behind. And it is all quite expensive, American prices, really. Too bad because it's a beautiful spot. I would return for the burger though, if I was craving one in SMA as it was tasty, well put together and substantial.

Yelp
Great food, service and location. They go lots of live music. I always order salads because I love salads, and they are pristine clean

Sylvia W.

Yelp
Probably the best pot pie I've ive had in my life... i order the vegetarian option. Cool ambiance. The were getting ready for live musictonight. Cant wait to come back

Marilyn K.

Yelp
10 star lime meringue pie. And I'm from key lime pie country- Florida! but this is world class, unbeatable. As is the location by the parque, & the music. Start with dessert! You wont regret it.

Yelp
Café Rama was founded in 2009 by Cheryl Finnegan "Finn",an artist and entrepreneur who moved to San Miguel Allende in 1999. Rama is a space with a lot of heart that reflects our artist eclectic taste and a menu that is healthy and comforting. "Says Finn. She is the founder of Virgins Saints & Angels, an international jewelry company based at San Miguel Allende. Jaime Shelley is a collected pop artist from Mexico City. The two met in 2010 and got married shortly after. Café Rama became a fusion of his artistic and travel talents. Jaime uses the restaurant as his gallery space and Finn has a small jewelry store inside the restaurant. https://www.caferamasanmiguel.com/men-covi-19 Enmoladas con Pollo https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/caf%C3%A9-rama-san-miguel-de-allende-3?select=NJX2UxkSmd7H4-00YtDEzA Shredded Chicken stuffed inside house made corn tortillas, covered in Mole Negro topped with red onions and sesame seeds. I'm not one who cares much for ambiance, for me it's all about the food. But I must say this Café nailed it in every way a total 5-Star experience.

Yelp
Very cool place in SMA. Interior decoration is not typical - take a moment to examine it and glean the message being sent. I usually have the quiche and love it.

Cindy W.

Yelp
This was our favorite brunch meal during our 4 days in SMDA! The cafe itself was super charming with seatings in 3 different sections, each section has its own art work and decoration. I felt like we walked into Alice in wonderland. I got the Croque Monsieur à la Rama and a green juice. The juice was so good and refreshing! My meal was an open face sandwich with a perfectly cooked egg over a buttery bun. It was the best way to start my morning! My friend got the open fruit bar where she was able to sample various seasonal fruits such as papaya, melon, guava, and fig. Given it was all you can eat, you can easily fill up on that. My two other friends got the more traditional Mexican breakfast - Green chilaquiles and Green enchiladas that they also raved about. Definitely make this your stop while visiting SMDA!!

Rae S.

Yelp
They had live jazz performing in the bar area off to the right on Sunday morning. It was such a lovely atmosphere. Wish there was more ventilation like if they could open that back pull up door wall to create more fresh air. The decor was so entertaining all of the comical signs and artwork. I really enjoyed the experience and couldn't stop finding new funky things. The meal was good we did the chilaquiles half green and half red sauce which I recommend if you are indecisive like me. The green juice is to die for Definitely recommend!

Livi K.

Yelp
What a cute place! 4 of us had lunch here. 3 had burgers & I had cheese flautas. They have a diverse menu & mark vegetarian & vegan options. I am vegetarian & can't have gluten so that can be a problem at restaurants but their flautas were made with corn tortillas. There is a full bar there, & they have a dessert case. We all enjoyed our food & had great service.

Joshua G.

Yelp
Love this place. Delightful live music with delicious food and coffee. The croquets are bomb, the juice is fresh and the coffee is perfect. They have soy milk for vegans but not too many breakfast options. Free WiFi. Everything we had tasted very fresh.

Ale F.

Yelp
Beautiful space, great service and delicious food! They were out of breakfast items I wanted, and ended the breakfast/ brunch menu by the time we arrived around 1 pm ( and in all the other brunch restaurants in town, the menu went all day or at least until 2-3pm) so that's the only negative thing we experienced. Otherwise, we ordered other items instead, and the food was absolutely delicious and fresh! The Posole was one of the best if not best things I've had in Mexico. Please don't miss it!! We also had a vegetable panini that was just as delicious. The food is great and we will definitely be back on our next visit to SMA.

Mary C.

Yelp
Very cool & eclectic cafe restaurant. Great artsy vibe. Classic cartoons & oldies tv shows with American music. Perfect for a day out of the sun, grabbing a drink, bite or both. Had a late lunch of awesome pancakes & very good chicken enmolados. Also had a great Bloody Mary & screwdriver (vodka & OJ.) Love to re

Erica M.

Yelp
Ate here this morning for breakfast and enjoyed ourselves! It's a beautiful cafe- great atmosphere and was very easy to get to from our hotel in Centro. The wait staff was kind, food arrived quickly, coffee and chocolate were very great and was pretty reasonably priced. Would highly recommend!

Leslie B.

Yelp
I have been to Café Rama a few times in the last 3 years. There Chicken salad is pretty good. I've been told by friends that there breakfasts are good. When having lunch and dinner there, I was not impressed. My friends gave me a gift certificate to Cafe Rama and I went with my boyfriend. I had the grilled salmon and he had a chicken dish. My meal was nothing like what was on the menu and was basically tasteless and he did not like his dish either. I told the waiter that I wanted what was on the menu. He took my plate back and when he came back to our table, the plate was still not right. Oh well. I took the dry salmon to go and figured I could use in in an omelet. There was 300 peso remaining on the certificate. The waiter said they would not honor the remaining amount and that the manager was not in. The next day, the manager said the same thing... I will never eat there again, just saying

Alyson K.

Yelp
Great little find about a block away from the Rosewood. I ordered the bread & jam after seeing other reviews and it was pretty delicious! I also ordered a lox bagel which came on one of the most perfectly toasted bagels I've ever had. The salmon was great as well. I enjoyed the cute cafe atmosphere and the service was good. I also appreciated a menu in English because ordering off a Spanish menu takes me about 3 times longer haha.

Jan T.

Yelp
Husband had the Croque Madame - Rama style.... delicious! I for one was disappointed with the following: 1. No free refills on coffee 2. I ordered huevos revueltos championed y esparrahos and the eggs were over cooked and it was pretty bland 3. Not sure what to make of all the insulting messages on the plates

Peter H.

Yelp
Great breakfast and lunch spot on a charming block right off the mancha in San Antonio - wonderful baked goods and string coffee, friendly service :)

Dawn C.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Outside it's very unassuming. When you walk in, it's delightful. And the owner is so nice!! The food is outstanding. It is glorious.

Valeria G.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. It's situated between the rosewood and hustle and bustle of the central part of town. It is located across the street of a garden store and garden cafe. Super cute restaurant, I spent 3 hours there bc it was that relaxing and quaint. The coffee there was the best - a mix of Veracruz and Chiapas beans. You did not need anything to add! I ordered 2. The green juice there was also my favorite. Again, everything pretty much was... we ended up being there for 3 hours

Matthias H.

Yelp
One of the BEST PLACES IN TOWN Living in San miguel since 10 years, I am a frequent guest here, so am very happy to state, that Cafe Rama is just perfect for having a good meal, good cake, and spend a PERFECT time ! NEVER over the years I was disappointed about the food. I love the salmon bagel they serve, and the salmon is ALWAYS good. Yes, there are some times, the salmon is only GOOD, but MOST times it is EXCELLENT ;-) Their cakes are just awesome, and the service is EXCELLENT also. sometimes live piano music is played, and all the special art and the kind of "crazy" presentation of paintings etc. are helpng to make this palce outstanding. I used to work for hours on my laptop here, so i had breakfast, lunch and dinner here on the same day, and was able to see the service, guests, and performance over days - LOVE THIS PLACE !!!!! Is there something you could do better ? Well, I think it would be hard to find something - maybe to have chantily available more frequent, hihi ? THANK YOU - this is the way a place is run PERFECT !!!!! Very very happy !

Tina O.

Yelp
Yet another wonderful Cafe restaurant in San Miguel. We had a lovely brunch meal here a bacon spinach quiche and an eggs florentine as well as a fabulous beet and spinach juice licuado. The service is good it's a little bit outside of the Centro but if you are down by the Instituto this is a great place to have breakfast lunch or brunch.

Hande J.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time at Cafe Rama. Food was great, service was friendly and the place had a unique vibe. It was busy yet we did not have any hard time getting a table and receiving our order. Nice spot for meeting people.

R M.

Yelp
Okay, so fair warning - service here sucks. BUT do yourself a favor and come grab these chilaquiles - they are culinary perfection.

Eric B.

Yelp
4 of us enjoyed a leisurely lunch outside. One vegan, two vegetarians and one hungry omnivore were served. Slim on vegan offerings (none), but vegetarians were pleased. Good to start with fresh orange juice and guacamole with chips (extra asst of salsas inside too). We each got a version of tacos and had our fill. Bathrooms are clean. Nothing bad about this place - go!

Oliver S.

Yelp
But a stone's throw from the Rosewood Hotel sits Cafe Rama, an unassuming yellow building housing a unique and authentically Mexican eatery. The interior is decorated with all sorts of fanciful artwork, much as your eclectic / quirky Mexican uncle's house might look had he retired in the mountains of Mexico and set a lifetime's collection of colorful paintings and statuettes on display. Yet presumably unlike this house, the cafe contains an open-format kitchen at the back and many chairs and tables at which it's patrons might eat. The food is the real hero here, though, and at 20 pesos to the United States Dollar, it won't cost you an arm y a leg. The croque monsieur was great, as were the chiles rellenos. On the beverage side, you can't go wrong with one of their strong cappuccinos. You'll leave here wishing that you didn't.

Felicia B.

Yelp
Excellent service. The pancakes are a must. My 2 year old son loved them so much. We ate here 2 days in a row. The huevos Ranchero was my favorite dish. I'll include a picture of both and the inside decor.

Robert K.

Yelp
Authentic bistro atmosphere. Soups, pastries, sandwiches and more. I enjoyed a vegetarian panini which came with a small salad. Bread was scrumptious. Veggies very tasty. But for me the best was the latte with the most delicious crema you could ever want. The high-ceilinged bar room was delightful. Definitely coming back! Oh, did I mention good value?

Andrea M.

Yelp
Really nice place with interesting art decor. Not a huge good selection for breakfast and they were out of quiche when we went but the tea and bread service was great and we enjoyed our food!

Lorraine P.

Yelp
Loved this cozy cafe with its fireplaces and cute decor. We had huevos rancheros and coffee which were yummy. Service was good.

Robert G.

Yelp
Fun and eclectic place with wholesome food offerings we tried the chicken enchiladas verde and highly recommend it. They have a nicely stocked bar and offer healthy Hugo as well. A wonderful place that we were so happy to find. The service was good although the dirty dishes were tossed into a bin with somewhat annoying loudness

Nancy R.

Yelp
Cozy/funky spot very near where we stayed in SMA (and just down the street from the Rosewood Hotel). Had really good chilaquiles (had an egg and hollandaise sauce!). Great coffee. Pleasant staff.

Theresa N.

Yelp
Best chilaquiles I've ever had. They were crispy but moist, tangy and full of flavor. Also very wonderful were enchiladas with molé sauce and even though we were full, we could not pass up a great cappuccino and delectable banana cheesecake.

Valerie G.

Yelp
I have been to this little Jardin 3 times already, each time I enjoyed something different. The first was just coffee and carrot cake in the afternoon, both were great and the dessert size was huge (I really suggest sharing, although they will let you take it to go). The second time we had breakfast on the cafe side and I had the Benedicts which was also very satisfying, on the table they served a really good french baquette and some hibiscus jam that I just loved. I actually bought a baguette to go and will be back to get some jam soon too. Today was the 3rd visit and again, very good sandwich on baguette with turkey and avocado. The best thing about this is that it's not only good and affordable, but the space is really cute and bright and the staff is extremely attentive and friendly, I will definitely be back and I highly recommend.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
I like Cafe Rama a lot (though my heart belongs to Rustica). The space itself is lovely, quirky, and much larger than it looks from the outside. On a busy day, it can be hard to get someone to take your order so best not to go when you're starving. Also-- note that they stop serving breakfast (including juices) at 1PM. Everything we sampled though-- the croque monseiur, the pancakes, the lox bagel-- was delicious and fresh.

Colleen L.

Yelp
I've eaten here twice and hated it both times. The cream on my chilaquiles had gone bad & I barely ate any. The mole had a gritty texture. Overpriced for what you get. I'm not sure why everyone loves this place so much.

Jean F.

Yelp
This gringa was in the mood for a steak! But not in the mood for fancy and pricey. We ordered a ribeye med rare. Steak was thin, done perfectly, just big enough to satisfy. My husband ordered the grilled asparagus, which was amazing, and we shared. Informal place, arty, very reasonable, not crowded for dinner.

Cristiana M.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast and lunch. Everything is good. Fantastic ambiance!

Alejandro P.

Yelp
The most interesting and fun ambience I've found thus far in San Miguel. The art on the walls is original, contemporary, colorful, at times confusing and mostly thought-provoking. It is bright and delightful. Truly a unique location. The food is very good, and the service friendly, yet could improve a bit on speed. Fish and chips were very good, while perhaps a little on the heavy side on the braiding; hamburger was excellent, especially if you like some extra spices on it. Same can be said of the chicken panini, though I made it a point of asking for the mayo (with pickles) on the side--and I ended up not touching it. Do come and try this gorgeous place out. People rave about it for breakfast, and I can see why, with its home made bakery.

Jen W.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast and it was glorious. They had a great fusion of classic American dishes with Mexican flavors.

Leslie P.

Yelp
Our first time in SMDA and found this little cafe. Highly recommend it. Food was delicious, service was great and atmosphere was wonderful. A piano man playing some jazzy music.

Ria D.

Yelp
We have already visited several times since we moved here 2 weeks ago. Love the quirky atmosphere and all the artwork. A little pricey but good quality. Everything we have had has been tasty. Look like they have great cakes which may come in handy for a birthday party in July.

Christopher F.

Yelp
Brunch was overpriced and mediocre at best. Coffee was terrible. Grounds were likely burned, old, and spoiled. Quiche contained little to no egg inside, consisting largely of undercooked bacon and over-cooked onions. Freshly-squeezed OJ was sour and thin. Mole chicken...meh. The decor is a ridiculous thematic hodgepodge of anime, Marvel comics, and communist imagery in a poor attempt at Pop Art. Ironic that a business that relies on capitalism to survive would feature Mao so prominently. At least they have good mezcal, but, then again, in Guanajuato, who doesn't? Given the number of restaurants in the area with consistently excellent food, and although Café Rama came highly recommended, I suggest discerning diners look elsewhere. We certainly won't be returning.

Denise A.

Yelp
The food is unusual and amazing! Well worth a try. Eclectic and lovely decor, friendly staff and great location. Prices are very reasonable for the area. The baked goods look fantastic and gluten free is easy to do!
