Cafe Rian Cajun Cafe

First time and this place was highly recommended. We were pleasantly greeted and seated in 2 minutes. There was a live performer playing some good tunes on that horn. The place is not huge but cozy and spacious enough not to be uncomfortable. We ordered boudain balls, boudain egg rolls, The Big Easy, and Trio (seafood gumbo, red beans and rice, and shrimp etoufee. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS, hot and fresh and exceptionally good. The boudain balls were so different then most as they were not heavy but so tasty. My date is from Breaux Bridge La, and he is STILL talking about how delicious the food was, he ordered a Mardi Gras baked potato to go, and his review was the same. I can't wait to go back, I've shared on my social media apps and telling everyone I know about this hidden gem of a place. Lastly the staff was EXCEPTIONAL.

Decided to have lunch here this week. Our server was pleasant and did such a great job with taking care of us. I had red fish over spinach served with signature Cajun sauce and shrimp. The flavors were delicious and presentation beautiful. Also enjoyed the crawfish Mac and cheese spinach Parmesan oysters and beignets.

I decided to order the spicy crawfish Mac and cheese and it was good but it wasn’t spicy to me. I also ordered the lunch special which had different options but I chose the cup of gumbo and fried fish and grits. The gumbo was good to say it’s served in a restaurant and the fish and grits needed more seasoning for my liking. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant.

Wow. This place changed my life. I thought I was coming in for a casual bite, not a life altering revelation. I ordered the smothered boudain link with crawfish and a small Mac and cheese with crawfish. I cut into the link, get some on my fork, sauce it up nice and saucy and eat it... I saw the face of God. And she's beautiful. By the time I stopped crying because I truly understood the meaning of life, I looked down and realized I'D ONLY TAKEN ONE BITE!! I thought this had to be a mistake, so I took another bite. This time, I flew up in space among the stars. Surprised the heck out of some astronauts too. Then I looked to my left and my heart almost stopped. I FORGOT ABOUT THE MAC AND CHEESE!!! I tell you what, it was so good, I slapped my table so hard the neighbors thought I was knocking at the door! This place is 25 miles away and the only reason I found it is because the government shutdown got my dentist appt cancelled and I figured I might as well get some lunch. I have never been more thankful for the government wasting my time. This restaurant is my new favorite and I will absolutely be back. I have never recommended a place more than this spot

Me and my fiancé had the best experience this past Sunday we can’t stop talking/thinking about it. We went during a busy time but it was SO worth the wait. We started off with the boudin balls and they were so flavorful and moist! The sauce it comes with makes it even better! We didn’t get a picture because we basically inhaled them. Our mains were also full of flavor and perfectly cooked!! The drinks were well balanced and we can’t wait to try more of the drink menu! The beignets were so fresh and hot one of the best desserts we’ve had! We live in the area and kick ourselves for not coming sooner! If you’re interested GO! The food, service , ambiance! We even got to hear amazing live Jazz music.

The food is great but the service is super slow! Be prepared to wait but eat good. They are busy though. Thank you Sierra and crew. The crawfish etoufee, boudain, every dang thang pasta, and crawfish poboy with Cajun fries was delicious! We really enjoyed the live saxophone player too!

This place is very good. My first time going was on a Sunday and they do not serve the entire menu. So we went back yesterday and the food was amazing. I will return to this location. Our waitress was very nice and attentive to all our asks.

Too expensive!!!! Paid 30.00 for 1 piece of fish floating in a grease souse with spinach. A extra side would have been great or a side salad; or even a drink. The fish was GOOD. I was looking for a Cajun home to eat from being from Louisiana. Ordered the wings they are good as well. Overall experience I can do without; but if I was to try it again. I would dine in verse take out. My total was around 53.00.

Reading cafe Rian mouth watering menu would make you hungry!!!! My friends and I drove across the world to try this Sunday ladies lunch date. Friendly service, clean appearance, smells so amazing from the door, sounds of live music fills your soul. This place sets a family, fun, and amazing food tones in the best way. This could easily be a weekly spot for me if it was much closer to my area. My crawfish and shrimp étouffée was amazing. I also took my son a dish home a crawfish sausage pasta, which had the choice of two or three meats. He loved it a lot and down it quickly. My son didn't even heat it up, and I know it was room temp at best. Since we sat there and talked for about 60 minutes and it took 40 to make it back home. It is JUST THAT GOOD, it's AMAZING. Came here with some Yelp girlies for the first time on a Sunday. They open at noon and we came in about that time, with no resy. It really picked up an hour later, good amount of patrons, so I'm glad we got there early. Some even looked like regulars. Server told us they have been here since 2018. I was unfamiliar with tbis spot as its not on my side of town, but glad I went. It's a husband wife owned business, they are from Shreveport Louisiana. They owners didn't get a chance to come out and speak to us, but I think they were busy in the kitchen. Service- Diesha (sp) was our young server, and she took pretty good care of us. Answered our questions. An FYI and it's stated on the menu nearly all substitutions there's a charge. Food- I was torn between the Pontchartrain fish. But I decided on the fish & shrimp basket. You can get it fried regular price of $20 or blackened for $2 extra charge. I got it blackened, but really it's more seared or browned which I like over blackened, its healthier. And makes for more flavor. I like that I was able to sub out fries for a side salad, this was luckily no charge. They have some other sides you can sub out for an extra charge. My food was tasty, and no complaints from anyone else. The vibes were right. They have live music on Sundays. Perry the saxophonist played some instrumental music. He entertained the crowd well, and chatted with us after his set. My only true complaints was the music got too loud. We ended up having to go outside after our meal so we could talk in regular voices. Overall wishing this black owned business much success! Try the Pontchartrain fish if you go and tell me how it is, lol I have my eye on it for next time.

This was a nice Sunday treat. Located in a shopping center there was plenty of parking. They have a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating but arrive early bc it fills up quick. We arrived at noon. At first we were seated directly under a fan. They couldn't turn the fan off or down but the waitress did move us to a different table that was more comfortable. The food was well seasoned, fresh and they have a decent variety of seafood. It was very easy for me to sub things out to make my meal healthier. I had a fish basket and got my fish blackened instead of fried for $2 more, for $3 more I swapped out the fries for collard greens. You can also swap out the fries for a house salad at no charge, there are a few other items you can swap out your fries for at no charge. I had a taste for greens so was good with the $3 upcharge. The greens were delicious. Well seasoned, not at all overly seasoned and had a great texture. On Sundays, saxophonist, Perry Richard (pronounced Rih-shard) performs and he is a heck of a saxophonist. He was also really great at playing to the family-friendly crowd. He took a few requests and played directly to the young boy sitting next to us. He even let the child touch his sax and play with some of the keys. All without missing a beat. Cafe Rian is a bit of a hike from my neck of the woods but if I do return I'll be sure to try the Rian's Pontchartrain. The guy next to us had it. He raved about it and it looked amazing. If you're in the area, Cafe Rian's is definitely worth a try. They offer reasonable prices, delicious food and great vibes.

The food is always good. They have real potato salad and it's made perfect. The drinks are satisfying. The portion sizes are plentiful. Service is good. There is an outside patio for good weather days to soak in some sun. I always enjoy

Coming in hot , breaking news!!! I decided to do a food review right after eating my food and here's what I thought! Lemon pepper wings were decent but the ranch dressing was not the best. Bayou fries were a little salty and didn't compare to my last experience. Price during happy hour if you dine in is $10 each.

This restaurant was exceptional. I visited weekly when working in Kingwood years ago. I'm happy they're still open. There was catfish dish that my husband and I used to get - the Big Easy is magnificent. The owners were kind and engaging. I've visited the new location just once and it had a nice vibe. I'm looking forward to visiting when I have the chance to be in that area of Houston.

Crawfish Etoufee; taste was great, flavor was all there. Yet, has room for improvement. I would recommend splitting the plate half white rice & half Etoufee. When you pour the Etoufee on top, the white rice is drowned by the saucy components of the Etoufee. Speaking on the consistency of the Etoufee, it was too saucy. Even after the rice absorbing excess sauce from the dish, there was still too much. The roux was correct, as well as the portion of the food served; but your drowned in the sauce, this can be a common problem when the Etoufee is cooked in a large batch. Would consider straining some before serving. Service and Ambience, no complaints. For my first time here, I would consider returning with family.

The food here is delicious and presented well, they know how to cook that's for sure. It took me a while to be greeted, I had to look for someone, but when Star the bartender came she made you forget that. She was pleasant and professional. I had questions and she answered them by going to the kitchen to verify, she did t seem bothered either, that great. The feel is very Louisiana, the music sets the tone coupled with the artwork. They charge $4 for soda water though, that's a kill switch for me. The profit a restaurant makes from a BIB (bag in a box) of syrup for pop/sodas more than cover the cost for the CO² that you buy. Charging for soda water for me is being greedy, I know it's becoming a common practice and soon I will have such a long list of restaurant I don't patronize anymore, JOEY is one, that's a nice restaurant, but they charge for soda water, the Landry's chain doesn't though so they will always get my monies.

We randomly found this spot and let me tell you - it was well worth taking a chance on!! The catfish was great, the seasoned fries were fresh and crunchy, and the shrimp etoufee and gumbo are definitely something to write home about!

I was told this place was phenomenal, so we trecked an hour away to try it! As soon as we arrived we were greeted so warmly by the owner! She was so sweet. I loved the fact that this place had an outdoor seating as well, especially for crawsfish. We ended up sitting at the bar. The bartender was not really attentive but we ended up starting off with the boudin eggrolls. Which were so crispy and delicious! For entree's I ordered the Rian's Pontchartrain and my friend ordered the Big Easy. The portion sizes were humungous. The Rian's Pontchartrain was good, the dirty rice was so good! But the Big Easy was even better. The fish was so good and the etoufee was unforgettable! Highly recommend!

If I could give this place a 10/10, I would!! This place was so delicious!!! We were visiting for one day and this place was recommended and boy! I'm glad they did and I'm glad we listened!!! Everything from the location, entering the door, to table service, to the food was amazing!! It's a quaint place with adequate seating (in & out). But!!! The food!! Everything we had was delicious!! It made us want to try more! The creole sauce!!??? YUM!!!! I WISH I lived closer, this would absolutely be a regular spot for us!! I travel to Dallas, often. I'll definitely be taking a drive back to Houston for this experience [again]!

My family and I had a great dinner here! We didn't make any reservations prior, but thankfully they were able to seat our party of 14 all together. I tried their boudin balls, fish platter, red beans and rice, shrimp etouffe, and gumbo. The boudin balls had a nice crunchy outside and were soft on the inside. Their fried fish platter was a large portion and cooked to perfection. The red beans and rice were good, but my favorite was the shrimp etouffe! It was creamy and flavorful. We really enjoyed how everything came out piping hot. I also tried their Hennessy lemon drop cocktail, which had me all inspired to recreate it at home! It was a well balanced drink. Service was very attentive, and my family liked how they decorated for Mardi Gras. We'd definitely return when back in the area.

If you love Cajun food, this is the place to go. The menu you will be overwhelming because it so many good options. Unless you are in the mood for something specific. I'll just start by saying I loved everything I had accept the boudin egg rolls. This place is a win and I recommend you start with the trio - gumbo, red beans, ettoufee Kids meals catfish was so good I almost changed my order. It's fried fish with seasoned fries. Oysters on the half shell- Oyster brioche - surprisingly very tasty. Mardi Gras potato- I don't think I'd ever be able to finish one of these myself because it's so filling and rich in flavor. Wings - solid 4/5 If you can hold your liquor get the rajan Cajun. I tried ménage à trois, but it wasn't as strong. The service was fine. Nothing extraordinary, but she was nice. The restaurant is very chill. Nothing fancy.

Came here for happy hour. It seemed a little small, but they do have a patio and bar area to sit at. The happy hour menu was decently priced... the drinks were good. The food was good except the gumbo was a little lackluster. The service was ok... a little slow but mainly waiting for drinks from the bar. I would definitely go back to try other food on the menu.

I've had the gumbo at least three times. Initially it was ok, but the past two times it has been way too salty and taste more like chicken stew . There was no spice other than pepper from the sausage. Very few shrimp, mostly white chicken (breast) meat. Please add more trilogy spice and lift up the seafood taste.

So after church on Mother's Day 2025! I had the pleasure of dining out with a friend during a recent visit to Texas. The atmosphere is full with delicious aromas of Creole cuisine filled the restaurant from the moment we entered through the front door, seating areas for parties small and large, great for brunch, lunch and dinner, inside and outside seating area. The bar section was very well maintained with plenty of booze. The service was great too she was attentive and friendly. The food was good too Oysters was fresh and nicely seasoned burst of garlic and other Cajun flavors pleasing to my taste buds, the fried shrimp I ordered was fried too hard but the dipping sauce was delicious. I forgot the name of my favorite drink but was very tasty I had 2!im Feeling really good at this point I am about to get up out my seat to dance around with the live entertainment of a saxophone (player or blower) lol he was playing songs old and new a great addition to dinner! Come here expecting a good time !!

Simply delish! I suggested this place as a dining option after seeing all the positive reviews. My dining partner is a fan of Cajun food, so we ventured here on a busy Saturday. First things first, we were the only two patrons that were not of the dominant ethnicity represented here. It doesn't usually bother me, but I definitely felt like the whole restaurant stared at us the second we walked in. If you're sensitive to this type of thing, get your food to go. For the appetizer, we ordered the bam bam shrimp, and for my entree I ordered The Big Easy which consisted of smothered unspecified fish, etoufee, and corn choux. My dining partner ordered the Blackened Redfish Pontchartrain but substituted the rice out for fries for $7, which I thought was a bit hefty. The bam bam shrimp was fine, but the smothered fish in The Big Easy was remarkable! That sauce was so flavorful and amazing! The corn choux was pretty tasty even though the corn was on the dry and overcooked side. I ordered a Long Island ice tea but couldn't finish it, as I was pretty drunk after consuming half of it. Overall great place and worth a return visit.

Food was So tasty and came out fast! But I was sold by the staff being so attentive. There was almost a full house because it was lunchtime and they showed no signs of stress. I never had to search for our waitress, who was very accommodating for my child. They had a very talented musician playing all the hits. However, I'm giving 4 stars because it was way too loud for such a small area. We spent most of the time yelling in order to be heard. I left with a headache.

What a random find! Trying to find something relatively close to IAH given the monstrous size of Houston and I came upon this gem. It is in a nicer than average strip mall and there was plenty of parking in front. I arrived right before the dinner rush and I'm glad I did. While there was never a wait, every table got full. There is also a bar area where you can sit at the counter, have a drink, full service menu, and watch some TV. Service was excellent. The hostess, with very friendly and my waitress calls equally so, offering multiple recommendations on the extensive Cajun menu. I had one of the samplers. They had a cup of both the étouffée, gumbo, and red beans and rice. What a perfect variety if you're torn on what to order. I also had to start out on some Boudin, which was very fresh and you can tell made from scratch. If you've heard of this you sure; and if you're reading this review, take a chance. You won't be disappointed.

Cafe Rian's NEVER FAILS !!!! The food is ALWAYS BOMB whether you eat in or order to go. The portion and the flavor is going to satisfy. Chef's kiss every single time . I've had the boudin balls, egg rolls, spinach dip, crawfish "CA-SO", Bam Bam shrimp Red beans and rice, Mardi Gras Potato, and a couple of the pastas ! Let's not even start on the drinks Side note: There's also a Rian's Seafood Grill in the heights area

Really Cool Atmosphere! Loved The Live Music! Amazing Food! And Awesome Staff! Very Professional and Attentive! The food is so delicious! I Live In Lafayette, La and like to try different "Louisiana/Cajun" Restaurants as I travel... Rian DEFINITELY did not disappoint! I had the Crawfish Caso as an appetizer and the comfort trio as an Entree... All were crazy good!! Some different flavors I guess maybe more from the New Orleans area, but definitely delicious! Thank Y'll for the Excellent Experience!

Good service, sat at the bar for happy hour. Had a peach Bellini frozen and also a frozen hurricane. The gumbo and boudin egg rolls were really good as well, seasoned. Lemon pepper chicken good, don't like the fact they separate the wing part of the chicken and count that as one, kind of deceiving. The oyster Rockefeller was really different, had more of a spinach dip taste to it along with very spicy jalapeños, which I've never had on an oyster Rockefeller like that however, everything was pretty good and I would definitely come back when I'm in humble. The ambience was pretty good as well just a chill, everyday atmosphere.

I have been here a few times. I had the reddish with the seafood sauce! The sauce and spinach was all that the fish not so much. They had a saxophonist who was delightful to listen to-he had a good set! One bad choice of fish won't stop me coming. Once I get off keto, I am going back for the potato.

Wow! The meal was amazing; service was good; place was packed; atmosphere was pumped and exciting; super friendly wait staff. The Pontchartrain made me think I was I. lake Charles! Oysters were fried perfectly. If you like Cajun and seafood -PLEASE do yourself a favor and hit this spot. Wow! (Did I say that already?)

You know I'm from Louisiana and it's tough sometimes to find a restaurant here in Houston that has the Louisiana taste. Came across this hidden Gem this place met just about all my expectations as far as taste in food. I chose the shrimp and grits, and the sauce was so rich and tasteful. They gave you plenty to eat for the cost. My boyfriend did Louisiana shrimp Poboy and seafood was very fresh. This is a cozy little spot, with great music and good vibes. The only hangup was the alcohol, it was a little bit pricey. With the cost of everything going up I honestly understand. I had a Peach Bellini And it was great, but it was $14 nevertheless, I will definitely come back to this place, and recommend this place if you want some Louisiana taste

Walking in, it is smaller I than I thought, but they do have a large patio area. We were seated fairly quickly and was goven time to see the menu. Our waitress was nice and helpful. My friend and I wanted to order everything but ended up ordering the Crawfish Queso for an appetizer (and will come back just for that!). My friend ordered the shrimp poboy and she said it is delicious. I ordered the fish poboy and it was very tasty and crunchy. We tried the Happy Hour Margarita and Hurricane. My friend liked them, but I didn't. However, the Mardi Gras Punch was amazing and very delicious!!!!

First off the vibe here was unexpected for a little corner spot in Summerwood. I walked in around an hour before closing and it was pretty full. Music was a vibe. The space is quaint and cozy. Perfect for families or a hang out sesh with friends for drinks by the bar. I was served by a nice young woman as our waitress. She wasn't overly attentive but that's ok- to me. Especially since I arrived an hour before closing . I didn't feel rushed or anything For food : Crawfish dip with homemade tortilla chips.those chips were everythingg for me yum and dip was perfect Every dang thang pasta- flavor was very good. It was a bit light on the chicken bits but pasta is always a filling option. Comes with a buttery bread The frozen drink I had was ménage trios -- ok maybe I'm a light weight but that drink was hitttting lol and tasted so good. Yes don't skip that !

I wanted to try something from this restaurant so we started off with the Boudin balls and they were absolutely delicious and the sauce that they served it with. The customer service was superb and the Restaurant was clean, we cannot wait to return, to try more menu items. Plus they make fresh GUMBO daily!!!

Nice quaint little spot that was recommended to us by a friend. Food was delicious. Customers' service was good also. I had the Shrimp PoBoy with Cajun fries and a side of MacNCheese. My wife had the Every Dang Thang Pasta and it was delicious!!! We will definitely be back.. there's a full bar I need to check out next time.

Not your run of the mill Cajun spot that's a dime a dozen at all. I'd been hearing about them for quite some time and finally visited. I ate a sampler with gumbo 7/10, red beans and rice 8/10, and etoufee 9/10. I'll be back this week to try more of the menu but I was not disappointed!

Stopped in to grab a bite after my Grandson's football games with the family. There was a bit of confusion to get seated, due to them wanting all the party there before they could be seated. I could see this if we had reservations for a specific party size, but not for a group walking in. I have a mobility issue, which means I move very slowly. I didn't see the need for our whole party to wait until I got in the building. I want to think this was a training issue. We were finally seated. Everything after this was great. We ordered appetizers which were delicious! I had to share more than I wanted to. Our server was great! I was a bit disappointed to know all the seafood was fried together, as I'm allergic to shrimp. I would have liked to try the catfish. ‍ I totally enjoyed my French fries though. My party enjoyed their dishes. Especially, the macaroni and cheese with crawfish. While we were there the patio and bar area began to fill up. Not a bad spot to relax and chill. The atmosphere is relaxed, with music playing. I'm told they have live music also.

The service was great And the place was packed but in a good way. The greeter was helpful and the owner and manager came to assist and greet my husband. He went to place orders for us and I stayed on the phone. He even told me when the head chef came from the back to personally hand him our food. I laughed as he burnt his thigh in the car because our food was cooked to order and handed to him HOT and fresh just how we like it!

So I found this gem as I was heading back to Dallas after my vacation. If you haven't been, you are missing out!! The service was absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The manager walked around and spoke to everyone, which was very welcoming and warm. Let's talk about the FOOD!! We ordered the bondin balls, and they were amazing and piping hot! I ordered some to go because they were that good. I also ordered the fish and shrimp po boy, which was amazing as well. They didn't skimp on the fish or shrimp. Listen, I may have to drive back to Houston just to try some new items on their menu. They have a Hennessey drink that was screaming my name, but I had a 4 hour drive, so I definitely will try it next time.

Love a great local place that serves great food from across the state line. The ambiance is light and busy, but the bar and outside patio looks fresh and inviting. The haul: Boudin balls, spicy boudin link, comfort trio, Mardi Gras Potato, Mai Tai, Ménage A Trois, pound cake. Boudin balls and link was fresh to order. The comfort trio was interesting. The gumbo and red beans and rice was fire. The etoufee was a bit buttery, but not bad. Both bar drinks were stronger they I though they were going to be and that was alright by me. The pound cake was dry so should have had it heated up. If you're in Summerwood area you have to stop by and try this one out.

Good happy hour spot!! We were able to plug in devices and work after work. It is a little crowded and with food this good they should expand! The patio is present but it's way too humid this time of year to sit out there. The service was great, they checked on us often and kept the food and drinks coming out fast. Strong strong drinks and I will definitely be back and bringing family and friends! I love Cajun and Creole food and this place did not disappoint.

Sooooo good! I came here on Father's Day for brunch with my friends, and while crowded and hot inside that day, I thoroughly enjoyed it. If there was any low point it would be the frozen drinks that we ordered. They were terribly syrupy AND strong, but not in a good way. We left most of that there. The food was great however and my friends loved it! We ordered boudin balls, chicken wings,shrimp and grits, the Every Dang Thang Pasta and "The Big Easy" and we each were completely satisfied with our meals. Service was a-okay as well.
