This iconic placed opened in 1908 and has some attached Foreign Press Association drinking den. You can get Egyptian fare from a friendly blue-costumed waiter. Prices OK- mid-range 200-400 mains. Tasty chips. Inordered roast chicken and veg- tasty. The atmosphere is perfect if your love is 19th century timewarp cafes where you can even smoke at the table. Wunderbar!

Café Riche is probably a century-old iconic café, once a gathering spot for many literati and intellectuals. We ordered three kinds of pasta and roasted chicken. The pasta was affordable and came in generous portions. -9/1/25

Café Riche is a true gem in the heart of Cairo, blending history, charm, and culture in a way that few places can. From the moment you step inside, you’re transported back in time — the vintage decor and historic ambiance make it feel like a place where stories were made (and they were!). The service is warm and attentive, and the menu offers a solid mix of Egyptian and international dishes. I especially enjoyed the coffee — simple yet flavorful. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to read, chat with friends, or soak up some Cairo history, Café Riche delivers. Highly recommend for locals and tourists alike.🤎

We came to see a historic cafe but were surprised to see an unfriendly, super rude blonde woman managing the place. It is a shame honestly to have someone like her manage the cafe. She did not allow us to sit inside where the intellectuals and revolutionaries used to meet. She allowed only outside, on the renovated modern section. No greetings whatsoever. The staff is terrified by her and thus didn’t get our order right. I don’t recommend visiting the cafe, it’s not worth it.

Went there because it was supposed to be one of the old nice places in Cairo, just to discover the degradation of everything First the place is not well aerated, the smell of cigartes is so strong for an indoor place. There is only 1 very kind waiter taking orders, serving ...doing everything at the restaurant. We were 4 persons, they serve only 3 and they inform us that one of us will get his food later , as the chef just arrived and will start to grill the filet 🤔 we finish our main course and still they didn't serve the missing meal of the 4th person. This is where we decide to leave as no point to wait more time. When we ask for the bill we discover they don't take cards but only cash. The experience was not good, we do not recommend the place or if you decide to go don't have high expectation.

For whatever reason, you're not permitted in the interior part of the cafe, where all the old history is, but only in the outer portion. Yes, for a moment, I heard Umm Kulthum drifting in to those of us now confined to the outside and could imagine what this spot could have been like many years ago, but it's a pass for me. No real love or atmosphere there now.

Went to visit this historical café tucked away on a busy city street. Tried to order anise Tea and they told me they didn’t have any hot drinks available because their machine wasn’t working. Was able to get Turkish coffee… Confused?!?
