Great place that has been in business for a long time, tucked out of the way. The food is good, I've been there twice. Currently they have a "special" - $10.95 for 2 slices of pizza and a (fountain only) drink. But what they don't tell you is, if you're going to get that, you may as well get a whole large pizza for only $4.05 more. And spend about $17 for a proper drink and an entire pizza. The staff thought I wanted a non carbonated drink when I asked if I could substitute a refrigerator drink for a fountain drink with the special. But that's not it at all - I wanted something with no high fructose corn syrup in it. Felt like I was pushed into the special before I realized how bad of a deal I was getting, ended up wasting the drink & Spent $14.95 for 3 slices (that's basically $5 a slice!) - $0.05 under the price of the entire pizza. It would have been nice if they had given me a heads up that I'm spending essentially the same price as an entire pie. People should begin to realize how bad of a deal these "lunch specials" really are, especially health conscious people. The staff should educate themselves as well - if people request a different drink, it's not just because they don't want a soda. They want to live longer!

First and foremost yes it’s inside of what seems to be a dieing mall. But to get to the point there is basically more food spots in the mall then actual interesting stores in my opinion so I went there to eat because I hadn’t had food yet. With that being said I kept walking almost to the end of the mall by where sears was and there it was. I have to say the place is great from service to food everything was amazing! If I was more local I would definitely stop in often. Our server was super friendly and outgoing she had no issue getting us anything that was needed she even took a soup back that I didn’t like without any hesitation or attitude that most other places would not do. The food was great the place was clean bar options were great like I said I have not 1 complaint . Picture was from the complimentary bread they give , and a special of the lobster/crab and shrimp ravioli . We also got the chicken parm sandwich so cheesy and the special steak which was pretty loaded! Crinkle cut fries with cheese were also great! Unfortunately didn’t take pics of the other stuff but if you like Italian food do not hesistate to stop by!!!

I had the lunch special of soup and sandwich. The soup was delicious and made in their kitchen. The grilled ham and cheese sandwich was cooked perfectly and a generous portion. I've had a lot of their menu items and never had a bad meal. Anything you choose will be great. The waitresses are helpful and very nice. I always stop here when I am back in the area.

We got the New Yorker pizza 🍕 and mozzarella sticks. So very good! Very family oriented, I saw many families with children there. The wait staff was amazing. Prices were reasonable. Dessert, a piece of lemon ricotta cream cake. $9, I don't think was worth the price though. It was good, but not $9 good. We will go back and try other dishes on the menu. I did notice other people's dishes were very large and everyone was enjoying their meals.

Google
We ordered the Thanksgiving package for 4 to 6 people. It was fantastic! Enough for 10 at least. All of the food was excellent, nothing overcooked. Perfectly seasoned, crisp vegetables. The turkey (and additional slices) was perfect, moist. Clear instructions on how to heat (picked up the night before). This was a meal made by Italians--abundance! Will certainly do it again.

Tried the food here for the 1st time and it has been very good, well otherwise the mall where not much happens. It was a late lunch, The waiter greeted us well and took very good care of us. We did the veg and kids menu both turned out good. I recommend.

Today, I put in a delivery order via one of those food delivery services. As it turns out, the restaurant gave the wrong order to the delivery service, and couldn't get ahold of the driver. They called me right after the driver left to let me know that they were trying to get ahold of him, and then a couple minutes later to say that they couldn't reach him. They told me I could keep the incorrect order where it arrived, and also the manager headed over to deliver the correct order herself (arriving just moments after the original driver). I was very impressed with the customer service, especially considering we had actually ordered via a third party service. Best pizza around. Fantastic customer service. Definitely 5 stars.

Google
This place is in the concord mall and is fairly quiet. There is a counter for takeout as well a cooler for drinks and plastic utensils. I went on a Monday night and the place wasn’t super busy but they only had one waitress on the floor so there was a significant wait waiting to be seated as well as served. The food was average and they have specials each day, Mondays they have a pasta special. They have single person men and women separate bathrooms and high chairs available for use. I don’t know if I would say it’s the best Italian food but if you are out and shopping, it’s a solid option.

Yelp
I had Cafe Riviera delivery and was pleasantly greeted with food that reminded me of the old-fashioned Italian restaurants. The food was wrapped with care and special note was taken so the food would not spill. , The ingredients are fresh & the meal was made with care, like being in someone's Italian home. The very great pizza with the fresh cheese & tasty meat reminded me of the yummy pizza as a child along with a well-made & delicious layered lasagna with a good sauce, enough for two people. I was fortunate to enjoy the wedding soup, which was just warm and delicious, With a rich broth and plenty of spinach, with a wonderful large meatball. The soup was so good, I would not share it with anyone. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food received. I have found my happy place to order Italian food.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! It looks like something out of The Sopranos show, hehe! The food is delicious and the service is great!

Yelp
Great food. Great portions. Great value. Energetic staff and a wonderful location definitely recognized as a great restaurant in the wilmington area

Yelp
I love the pizza here! EVERY time I get pizza it's always delicious and prompt! I got a half white/half plain pie. Their white pies are so good you just have to close you eyes as you enjoy every bite! I highly recommend Cafe Riviera! The closest pizza you'll get to New York style in Delaware County. Two large 14 inchers for $37. Too some it might be a lot, but I know some comparative pizza places and they sell 2 pizzas for $40-$60. I used to buy pizza by the slice here growing up going to the Concord Mall. They're pizza is STILL delicious after 25 years of service! That says a lot! Thank you Cafe Riviera!!! Oh yeah and your bruschetta is excellent as well, very authentic. They use real baguette bread for the base, not that disgusting cracker melba toast you'll find in other establishments.

Brian S.

Yelp
Sausage Pizza was good, the pepperoni pizza was a greasy mess. Two slices and a drink for eight dollars, not a bad deal. Looked like a great selection for pasta so I will have to come back and try it.

Peter L.

Yelp
I had the Pepper and Egg Sub and it was delicious! I enjoyed it for two days. I also had the Hot Long Peppers, also excellent.

Blake F.

Yelp
A friend of mine was having a wedding and catered from Cafe Riviera. The cater came in a nice large truck with all their ingredients and supplies, while their staff came along in other cars. While we had some Hors d'oeuvre, the catering staff set up a kitchen underneath a tent. They then began to make all sorts of delicious concoctions including house salads, lamb chops, chicken, calamari and lobster ravioli. After the ceremony, we were able to get our food. I tried a bunch of different items including their salad, fried calamari and lobster ravioli. I started off with the salad, which was really good. The lettuce and tomatoes were both nice and fresh. However, it was the delicious dressing that improved everything! I than had the lobster ravioli, which was immaculate! The ravioli noodles were nice and tender while the lobster inside was full of flavor! Finally, I had some of the fried calamari! The calamari itself was great, though I wish that they didn't fry it as long, as it was a bit too crispy. The staff who made and served the food was also really kind and sweet! Altogether, the catering from Cafe Riviera was great!

Renee Nicole L.

Yelp
Great pizza great sandwiches and really good Italian dishes. Prices lil high but at least the food is good

Dan J.

Yelp
"Let's go to the mall for great Italian food!". You wouldn't think so, but you would be wrong. The best pizza in the state of Delaware, not because DE pizza is generally pretty bad, but because their pizza is legit. Very good entrees as well. I don't know if it's always the case, but during COVID you could pick up takeout by driving up to their backdoor and they'll bring it to your car. Big plus, not only because it's convenient, but because I would never go in to the mall to pick up dinner.

Yelp
Holy 'I can't believe there is still a reason to go to the concord mall' Batman! Hidden deep in the bowels of Concord Mall is this little gem, Cafe Riviera and my namesake bartender extraordinaire, Jimmy!! Everything was awesome (felt this way before the Mad Elf) EXCEPT there was virtually no meat in the cheesesteak. The roll, cheese, fried onions, mushrooms, tomato and Lettuce were plentiful and bursting with flavor and they completely overshadowed the meat. Look at the close up picture; everything looks great and you barely see the meat. My guest eater went rogue and had the pizza, He loved and got a 2nd slice. Shooters = Awesomeness. That is a picture of a picture of Blood Mary's, they look great! See you soon Jimmy!!

Yelp
Cafe Riviera provides a lunch buffet of hot items (with cold pasta or green salad along side) for our corporate cafe once a week and man, is it ever delicious. The meatballs, Italian sausage (with peppers and onions) and Chicken Cacciatore are classics and so well executed -even for a mass buffet. So pleased - and now I wanna go to the restaurant!

Bennett F.

Yelp
So I was so excited to eat here after the slices of pizza I had tried the week before. Service was mixed...although our waitress was very friendly and kind...things seemed to take forever... I only say this because once our "jumbo" 18" pizza arrived it was not very hot...we all know fresh pizza out of the oven is to hot to eat...not today! Because we had ordered the pizza in addition to other menu items the server suggested to bring it in a box...an 18" box for a Jumbo 18" pizza...this was my other problem the pizza was 16" at best...and much thicker then the slice I remembered...(seems like the pizza maker didn't stretch the dough enough) Anyway Veal parmigiana finally arrived...pasta had tomato sauce that looked like it sat under the heat lamp to long and the veal was Luke warm at best...not to mention the breading was falling off... Ordered an entree No bread...nothing!! Knowing how difficult it has been for restaurants didn't want to send anything back... but moving forward next time at the Cafe Riviera I'll think I just stick to a plain cheese slice to go.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza and curbside pick up experience! Really friendly woman answered the phone and recommended the veggie Sicilian when I was stuck deciding between that and the meats. I was not disappointed! Veggie pizza had roasted zucchini, eggplant, spinach, cheese and rye crust was perfect! The cheese pizza with half sausage was also phenomenal. We sat in the car and they brought the pizza to us. Really happy with the pizza and service!

Bernie T.

Yelp
When I heard they were closing the first thing I thought was I have to get some tomato pie. I ordered one today and it was nothing like the slices I get when I'm in the mall. The tomato was so thin you can see spots where there is no tomato. Not wanting to complain given their circumstances I really had to share my disappointment. Guess I'm too late for getting a last taste of the tomato pie I love.

Jimmy M.

Yelp
Best pizza in Wilmington hands down. Also, LMFAO at the reviewer who was complaining that the tomato pie wasn't crispy. You clearly don't know what tomato pie is.

Lisa S.

Yelp
I've ordered from them a long time. The last two orders through Menufy have been wrong. When I called this time, last time I didn't say anything, the lady was rude said it was Menufy's problem that there wasnt an option. Then verified the chef forgot a sandwich told me Menufy would have to credit me and hung up on me. Great to know their customer service is of importance.

Matthew G.

Yelp
Veggie pizza was 'ok' even if the crust was pre-made. Grilled veggies were tasty but the sauce was bland and the cardboard crust fell apart as soon as you picked up the pizza. This place had the worst service I've had in a while at a restaurant. Pizza came out from a separate server and had to wait for than 5 minutes for plates and never got the additional napkins or soda refills. Never got asked how the food was either. The only thing that came out fairly quickly was the check which I had to stop and ask the waitress to get. Other tables also had poor service too from the other waitress in our area. It wasn't even that busy with our waitress only waiting on 3-4 tables and finding plenty of time to disappear in the back. Maybe I would get a slice if I was at the mall again but there is no way I would sit down for a restaurant with such horrendous service. Basically is a mall food court restaurant masquerading as a sit down place since it has a bar and a liquor license. Even Grotto Pizza (unofficial pizza of Delaware) has better pizza.

Florence S.

Yelp
Kim is the beat. Food Delicious. My granddaughter loved her dinner as I did too. I had a great Eggplant Parm Sandwich.

Jeffrey D.

Yelp
Great family business and friendly service!!! Buffalo chicken pizza and square slice is my favorite but you can't go wrong with any of the options.

Mark L.

Yelp
Excellent food !! If you love seafood try the Shrimp in white wine sauce over fettuccine !!! It is AMAZING 6 STARS all the way !!

Teresa R.

Yelp
I had the crab and spaghetti and it was out of this world . I used to go there when I was younger the food was good then and it still good now

Richard F.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant. The noodles and tofu and chicken were wonderful. Great desserts too. My kids love it here, especially the linguine with red sauce and pizza. My wife loved the crab. Excellent service too. It is close to my house which is great, but it is worth a ride to get here for a special dinner. Can't say enough good things. The bathrooms were spotless and welcoming! Truly a special place!

Holly W.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place in search of a good Sunday Funday Afternoon Bloody Mary & we were impressed! Located inside the Concord Mall, at first glance the place looks like your typical mall pizza shop. Go inside, & walk past the booths, & it opens into a spacious Italian restaurant with a comfortable, 7-seat bar! But none of that matters because... The Bloodies were DELICIOUS.!!! So then you know we had to try the pizza. Yep - DELICIOUS. We were so pleasantly surprised with everything, walked away three Bloodies in, & a large pizza pie to go!! I think we found our new Sunday Funday spot. Dangerous, since were in the MALL.

Megan B.

Yelp
Awesome pizza slices. Great service. I wish I was in town longer because I would have really liked to try their entrees. Don't be fooled by the mall location this place is legit!

Jim W.

Yelp
Great food... great service... I always end up with pizza or chicken parm always a tough decision.... Only down side is the wait when it's crowded

Mark V.

Yelp
4 stars for the Roasted Pork and broccoli rabe sandwich! Delicious pork, nice and moist and broccoli rabe piled high. Soft roll makes this Sammy melt in your mouth.

Larry K.

Yelp
Can't beat this food! The best in the area. Eggplant dinner was the best. Big portion.

Sheila P.

Yelp
I was introduced to their pizza at a food truck event at Chaddsford winery. At the winery, my friend and I ordered the tomato pie; it was yummy! The sauce had minced garlic and basil, i believe. No cheese, but it was a tomato pie. The sauce itself, we agreed, was delicious. It was brick oven so the crust was thin and a small pie may not satisfy 1 person who is hungry. When i visit the location at Concord mall, i will request Motzerella cheese and update my review based on the location. The food truck rocked though.

Sandra V.

Yelp
Great place to eat at the mall. Friendly staff. Been going there for 27 years! Love it. Nice bar in the back.

Robin B.

Yelp
Excellent waitstaff, wrote down nothing and did not forget a thing!! Adult beverages are awesome, highly recommended after a crappy day at work! Garlic breadsticks with marinara.....to die for, and I don't even LIKE marinara! We had a thin crust pizza with bacon, delicious crust and sauce, not crazy about the bacon (my pizza go to choice). ;0)

Tim R.

Yelp
Friday night manager was rude and could not come to the counter to speak to me. She mistook me for an app delivery driver bc I use an app. They have a sign that says the drivers need to park out back. Nothing against the drivers at all but I corrected her that I'm a customer that uses an app to order - it's not the first time she's done this to me. What made me angry and now not wanting to return is that she relayed her 'message' through the nice woman working the counter and could not speak to me directly. I nicely asked the young woman why as a customer do I have to drive around back and the manager proceeded to speak louder to the young woman to 'tell him it's the cafe's policy on Friday nights to pickup out back.' There are no signs stating the out back policy except one that specifically asks delivery drivers to do so. I informed the young woman I would not be returning and we order there every Friday since August 2020. We really do like their pizza and fries but I am so put off by how this manager preferred to interact with a customer that I won't be going back again.

Fiona K.

Yelp
This is the best pizza and Italian food you will find in Delaware! (I've tried all the places around) Yum! A nice little hidden gem in the Concord Mall.

Carmen B.

Yelp
Their seafood plates are excellent and also their specials. Quick sit and get served with a smile.

Sarah M.

Yelp
They used to be great... unsure if it is a new owner manager or what but they changed their pizza recipe about a month ago and the new one is awful! The new "pepperoni" tastes like stale old salami. The pizza is greasy, sauce is terrible and dough is unappealing. Twice we were told by employees they were going back to their previous pizza but obviously that isn't happening. We have ordered from here about twice a month for our "treat meal" since we moved here a year ago and always been happy. Last night it took an hour and a half the food was cold and soggy and when we called they seemed annoyed and said they would send new fries!!! What about the rest of the food?!?! We asked just for a credit for next time but I can't see us ordering from there again. Hate to see good places gone bad...

Amanda R.

Yelp
I ordered delivery through DoorDash and left a 1 star review there as well for the food. I ordered the spinach & cheese ravioli, garlic bread sticks with sauce, bruschetta, broccoli rabe sautéed in garlic and EVOO, and a chicken parm sub with onion rings. It all was bland, watery, and terrible. The tomato cream sauce for the ravioli was watery and tasteless. I only got 4 raviolis and the chicken was over cooked and dry. The sandwich was not traditional because instead of actual chicken Parmigiana it was chicken fingers with barely any marinara and cheese. Overall, the food was terrible.

Heather B.

Yelp
This used to be my all-time favorite Italian in the Delaware valley, and their food was authentic Italian. This past year however, their service has dropped considerably and they have raised their prices. Yesterday was my last trip there. Cashier stayed at register so customers had to yell their order. She didn't know what gnocchi was, had to spell it three times, and then she asked, "What is it?" so she could find it on the screen. Tried for an "easier" order but she had trouble with all things Italian. We finally left to grab a server because no one else was in sight who could help. Plain red gravy was peppered, so hot we couldn't eat it. New buttered noodles nothing more than cooked pasta served al dente with a touch of butter - a child cooking at home could have done better. Even their pizza for which they are known was chewy, no gravy, cold and greasy. Cafe Riviera was the only reason we venture to Concord Mall anymore, and now will never go back.

Penni B.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. Excellent pizza, great atmosphere and friendly staff. So glad their lease was renewed and they continue to serve their loyal customers.

Samamtha K.

Yelp
AMAZING pizza, sadly they removed their small pizza due to something with the dough? But nonetheless getting the regular/large is worth it. The pepperoni forms the fabtasic pepperoni bowls once its served, its always hot, and tastes great. Really sad to see Cafe Rivera leave the concord mall but I really enjoyed it while it was around. I'll never forget their pizza. 100% one of the best out there

Valerie S.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch yesterday... The pizza was really good, although a little greasy so we had to blot it off... Also tried the bruschetta which was also good. Probably one of the better places to eat at the Concord Mall.

Krissy H.

Yelp
Best kept secret. This place looks like a pizza shop but in the back is a full fledge Italian Restaurant. The food is amazing and well priced, the wine is awesome and not expensive either. Prime Rib! Yes, in a mall, and yes you must go!

Marylouise B.

Yelp
I love the pizza, especially the tomato pie. There is a huge selection of pizza by the slice. There is also sit down section and bar inside. The restaurant also has good home made tasting Italian dishes. A hidden treasure inside of a mall.

Chris B.

Yelp
First time writing a review. Several weeks ago I ordered a Stromboli from their sister store ( metro deli ) thinking it would be similar to their café store, wrong what I got was basically a pizza folded in half. So I decided to order from café since I had ordered strombolis from them in the past and they were decent enough. Well the Stromboli that I ordered from café was worse than from metro. Again it was basically a pizza folded in half, the maker apparently just got a handful of meat and cheese and placed on the middle of the dough folded and cooked. I took several bites and threw the rest in the garbage. Unfortunately I will never patronize either of these places again. Do yourself a favor and google Stromboli to see what one should look like.

Yelp
For all the hours I spent shopping in this mall, I was stunned when I realized just how deep the restaurant actually went. And, to this day, despite living within comfortable shopping distance to Concord for 17 of my 24 years, I can only say I've been in that back section 2-3 times. I'm probably not the best person to talk to about that back area, but it's almost embarrassing how much I can tell you about the front area. I've probably tried about 8 different types of slices from Riviera, and have yet to be disappointed by a one. The California White and white with tomato and spinach are two favorites of my family, but I'll be honest, most of the time, I just pop in for a quick slice of plain or pepperoni. And, with those giant slices heated up in their massive ovens, served by some of the nicest folks in Wilmington, loaded up with crushed reds, oregano, and parm, I always leave smiling. The seating area at the front isn't too large, maybe enough space for 9-10 people total, but they have some seats out in the actual bulk of the mall, and you could always be an on-the-move muncher if you're continuing to shop (or window shop) while you eat. Sometimes, the pepperoni can be a little greasier than I like, but it's always crisp, with just the right thickness of crust (thin to normal). I just recently grabbed a jumbo pie to go for the family, and was shocked how it fed all 5 of us. That's value, as we normally have to nab a few between us all. Keep an eye out for specials. If you're fairly brave when it comes to germs, try some of the antipasto salad that's always sitting on the front counter while you wait to order your slice. Seriously, it's worth the potential flu you could get from someone else's fork. Just cross your fingers and hope no one double-dipped their fork.

Ben C.

Yelp
My two kids and I had a slice of pizza my daughter went back up for a bottle of water and they charged her $2.25 for a $0.10 bottle of water. The grab-and-go case where she took the water from conveniently has no prices on it whatsoever so by the time you sent it down and they tell you the price you're pretty much stuck paying the pizza was okay but we would never come back here clearly they are price gouging purposely

Ozzie F.

Yelp
I have eaten here a few times and it is generally a disaster. I ate there yesterday and received a double barrel of horrible service and bad food. I ordered the wedding soup. Not only was it room temperature, but it was ONLY broth and greens. No meatball, no pasta, nothing but broth and greens.......of course it took an act of god to get the waitress to return. She looked perplexed, and returned a minute later to say 'it has the other stuff but i just didnt mix it up before i poured your cup. do you want me to get you a new one?' Um, no. So my daughters ordered ravioli and meatball, and I had to cut the meatballs for them. Well, the centers were ice cold (and the exterior wasnt so hot either). All this combined with a waitress who never had her act together and was no where to be found. .....so I realize that I am eating in a shopping mall. The bar is set pretty low. But delivering the actual food you ordered at an appropriate temperature shouldn't be a problem. It was a problem, and the lethargic server didnt help.

Val W.

Yelp
My husband and I order a jumbo pizza and wings from here every week! We only eat out once a week and we always choose Cafe Riviera! The pizza is amazing and we ask for extra garlic and hot sauce on out wings! They always get it right!

Luke R.

Yelp
I went here with a couple co-workers one day. My friend picked it because it supposedly had the highest rating of any local restaurant on Trip Advisor.com. I found it to be fine, but nothing special. It's sort of a kitchy place with a family owned feel. But i don't really care about those sorts of things. "Was the food good?" That's what I care about. I got the fettucini alfredo, and my friends got the salmon and chicken parm, respectively. All three of us thought the food at Champps next door was better. My fettucini was a huge portion, but it tasted just like any ole fettucini alfredo in a jar you buy at the market. It wasn't bad, but I didn't understand why the great rating.

John W.

Yelp
Cafe Rivera is a nice little Italian restaurant. They feature a full restaurant behind their take out/sit-down area, which is a nice arrangement. Their pizza is quite thin and greasy; I am personally a fan, however, I have heard some of my friends complain. Their servers are always kind and attentive! One huge plus to the cafe is that they have a large menu selection. They have every type of pasta in the book, and it is always cooked well. My one critique is that they lack some extraneous Italian dishes, it seems to me that they only serve traditional dishes, such as spaghetti and meatballs. Overall, I definitely do recommend a visit. Their pricing is very reasonable, and they send out coupons in the mail constantly. I hope they expand their menu to feature some more "out there" dishes in the future, otherwise, great!
