To my surprise Cafe Romand was almost empty when visiting tonight. We had an excellent dinner - speedy, competent waiters, a tasty moitié-moitié fondue and excellent dried meat. Still after having been here many times over years a reliable, fairly priced place for the classics in an unbeatable location, and no-frills historic ambiance.

Stepping into this officially recognized historical restaurant in Lausanne is like stepping back in time. The dining room is absolutely charming, and the service was impeccable. The food was also good. For a classic brasserie meal, you can't go wrong and for vegetarians and vegans, their red lentil dish is a very tasty option!

The café offers traditional Swiss cuisine and has an old-world charm. The waiters were really nice and funny, although the service was extremely slow. I enjoyed the fondue and the meringue with Gruyère double cream; however, the Malakoff was just okay.

Review for Café Romand — Very Disappointing Experience Our visit to Café Romand was unfortunately very disappointing. We went specifically for the fondue, only to be told that they wouldn’t serve it to us unless two people ordered it. On top of that, the waiter was noticeably rude and made us wait far longer than necessary, insisting that other tables “had to pay first” before even speaking to us. ” To make things worse, the Chinese manager was confrontational and even came over to push us to leave the table. Such a terrible experience! There was no effort to offer an alternative, no flexibility, and the overall attitude felt dismissive and unwelcoming. For such a well-known and historic restaurant, we expected far better service and basic courtesy. We left without eating, and we certainly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone seeking a pleasant or professional dining experience.

A restaurant that has been around a very long time, and it shows. Excellent quality service, with impeccable food quality. I visited in the cold months when "Pot au feu" is available, and it is *incredible*....only 23CHF if you come at lunch time as well! For the price the meal is really fantastic.

The most outstanding place in Lausanne to experience the best regional gastronomy - from the authentic "papet vaudois" to the fondues, roestis & Co, in a classic and traditional ambiance that never gets out of style. Remarkable and an overall experience worth the visit when in town.

A very hostile, angry server ruined any chance for us to rave about this place. Language barrier did create some issues, but our waiter was not willing to be patient with our attempts at French speaking. Food was above average, but fairly limited menu. We had many better meals in Switzerland.

Very disappointing experience at Café Romand. We went for their fondue and were told they wouldn’t serve it unless two people ordered it. The waiter was rude, made us wait unnecessarily, and prioritized other tables “because they had to pay first.” The overall attitude felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. We left without eating and wouldn’t recommend this place at all.
