22 Free (Or Cheap) Things to Do in Reykjavik in 2025

"I often catch free live shows at Café Rosenberg (though sometimes there’s a cover charge), making it an easy spot to hear local musicians and soak up Reykjavík’s creative scene." - Matthew Kepnes

Jan25 Café Rosenberg has a cozy atmosphere with a charming English-style interior. We enjoyed a hot chocolate and a soft drink in peace, as we were the only ones there. However, the service was confusing—after waiting 10 minutes, we realized it was self-service. Later, staff informed us we needed to pay first before drinks were served. While the setting is lovely, the communication could be improved.

Everything about this place is so cozy, I love it! I asked if they had an iced latte and they said no but they could put ice in the latte, I ordered it and let me tell you IT'S BETTER THAN THE LATTE I HAVE AT MY LOCAL CAFE AT HOME!!

Very cute coffee place with a cozy atmosphere and really great decor! The coffee is delicious. Unfortunately, the staff was not very friendly and rather unwelcoming.

An atmospheric cafe in the old part in the center of Reykjavik, where we can drink not only coffee, but also eat a good cake or drink beer. Characteristic interior design with lots of wood. Comfortable couches where you can relax. At the tables you can play chess, for example. Very good location, but no parking. Staff without a smile, which leaves much to be desired.

Very cute cafe. Its the perfect place to meet with friends and catch up over a cup of coffee. On my last visit to this place it was packed as usual and it was nice to watch people play chess and listen in on conversations. Great location. I really enjoy the food here but I wish there was more attention at labeling what's in the food. My partner is vegetarian and was surprised to find meat on the mozzarella sandwich because it wasn't listed on the menu.

Fantastic ambiance and coffee! Wish we had this in Colorado! Update: back here after 3 years, thought of this little cafe a lot while in Denver over the years. It is exactly how I remembered, and it is still lovely! Worth a visit.

This might be my favorite coffee place anywhere. Great coffee. Quiet mood with moody strange music or old pop songs..folks sit and dream. I’ve had a chocolate muffin and an apple pie. Great whipped crème. Girls behind the counter are young mostly smiling and alittle..off beat. Some Unmatched tables and chairs and some velvet antiques. Nice display of pies and cakes.
