It must have been the second day Salsera was open, that I stopped in. The interior is very well done. I really love the upstairs patio, and I will have to check that out another night. The inside also features a raised stage, where bands can play, with a really pretty backdrop!
The seating is really nice as well. I dug the booths for two, because sometimes you just prefer a booth seat! The waitstaff is very pleasant - and high tech! All your orders are entered into a phone, as opposed to pad and paper.
The menu is not very large, but I expect it will grow as their business does. I ordered the Albóndigas with Diablo Sauce, which looked pretty appetizing. The band started up, and it was really entertaining. So much so, that I almost forgot that it took quite a while for our food to come out. Finally, though, it came out. Points for nice presentation...my meatballs were arranged attractively together and topped with the sauce, which was topped with fresh cilantro. The yucca fries were stacked neatly next to that, and there was a small dish with the jicama/carrot salad.
The Diablo Sauce was not as spicy as I was expecting it to be. If you want SUPER spicy sauce, this is not going to be for you. However, it was pretty damn tasty. The meatballs have rice in them, too, FYI. Super yum! The yucca fries were nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The only things I would change about my meal would be to put some seasoning on the yucca fries, and to pickle the carrot and jicama a little longer so they would be easier to eat. Otherwise, great meal!
I will be back. I love the ambiance and the concept of this place, and I would love to catch a salsa DJ or band here sometime!
