Google
Nice late night spot for some drinks and grubs. Really good selection of craft brews and ciders! Also so easy to browse menu, order drinks and pay via QR codes on tables.

Recommended! + The food is really fulfilling and has so much flavor to it. + The restaurant is decently clean. + big seating area Overall, the place is nice and food is great too.

Good food, bad service. Seating was unclear. You order through QR code which was nice. They didn’t have what I ordered and paid for. He brought out a different drink and I asked if it was gluten free, he said yes. I looked it up online and it has gluten in it. The other waitress came over and I told her I couldn’t have that (I didn’t drink anything) and he said it was gluten free even though it’s not. She said it was not gluten free. However, she brought me out a gluten free beer (I did not ask for this) and made me pay for it. I didn’t want beer because I do not like beer. I would’ve ordered something else if I knew I had to pay again. It was a frustrating situation handled poorly because the other waiter came back and claimed we didn’t talk about gluten free (even though we did and my friend heard me ask and him confirm). I will not be returning.

Food is good and the portions are large. We did have to wait a bit for our waitress, but once we got to order, the food arrived pretty quickly. The atmosphere is pretty dark and gives you more of a pub feel than a café. This explains why most people are seen drinking beer with the pub-grub-esque food on the side. For a pub round with food this place is great, but if you're primarily looking for a decent place to eat, there are tons of better options in Oslo.

Sad update. What used to be a great place is now run by a crowd that really don’t deserve your money. Extremely sad to see a place I once almost worshipped go down the toilet. Look around. There are way better ways to spend your time close by. For those interested in what it used to be I have saved my initial 5-star review(s) below. Ever since I first discovered Café Sara some five years ago it has a special place in my beer marinated Oslo heart. It was here I stayed way too long discussing the bustling Norwegian beer scene with fellow beer knurds. I was drawn to the eclectic approach to food and beer. Glad to see they haven’t changed.

Google
HORRIBLE. found garbage in our food and staff didn't care. EVEN CALLED SECURITY. there was no bloody manager working and no one seemed to care. We were 4 people which ALL WORKED IN RESTAURANTS. I am still sick to my stomach. I feel sorry for the customers. Please stay as far as you can... I feel like throwing up.

Best Burger in Oslo, and one of the few spots where you can grab food an a beer after 00. Strongly recommend it.

Yelp
Shhh, the fun is where you can't directly see! At the entrance the bar and bartender greets you with their beer and happy selections. In and outdoor seating. Or.... Go out to the courtyard where its happening! Surrounded by tropical murals and upbeat music, its a little lush get away with the moon up above.

Yelp
We live in a pandemic!! But I, one single person can't be that much of an inconvenience. I left work, and managed to get to the pub at 2230. I was presented a table right next to the main entrance. Every single time I left said table to go toilet etc I had drinks taken away or stolen? I left my headphones, phone and keys out on the table, but drinks were swiped. When I tried to confront the busy staff (which I know isn't there problem) I was shown back to my seat from a very disgruntled waiter and when I tried to explain myself and the situation he again brushed me off. As if I was to blame. I am a neighbour and I send guests your way all the time as its a pub I feel attached too. But everyone working need to take a breather and maybe control/manage your outside tables before you gun down 'nabo/sitte inne gjeste' in the future.

Yelp
A great place for dinner and a beer! It's a big menu (hamburgers, fish'n chips, steak, fish, tortillas,...). We asked the friendly waiter for a local beer and he suggested a good one :). It's quite dark and noisy in Café Sara, but it was part of the charm of the place. There were a lot of young locals there, which gave you the feeling of not being a tourist :).

Yelp
This place is an institution in Oslo and has been around for a long time. It used to be a dive bar with ok food back in the day. It still has some dive bar aspects but has a nice atmosphere and a pretty extensive selection of beer. Food is served all day until closing time and my party had omelet (very good), egg and bacon (very good) , burger (very good) and kebab pizza (just OK). The interior is dark and there are some flowers here and there . Also, it has some people watching spots by the window that if you like . What could improve? The food? The interior? Still - a large bar/cafe with all sorts of people, and it survives year after year while its neighbours close down one by one. So, it must have that little something that makes people return. PS the guard at night is very attentive and could perhaps be less cocky? I was once refused at night but was not at all drunk :/ kinda rude

Yelp
I actually ended up really liking Cafe Sara, even though prior to our first visit I had heard a couple of negative comments about it from a staff member at another bar. When we eventually got there I could not spot anything negative about the place at all. We were attempting to visit every craft beer bar in Oslo and we noticed this on Yelp. It was mobbed every time we visited (or passed) and that was even on a Monday night. Still we always managed to get a seat and got to choose from an impressive list of craft beer options. (They had war pigs on tap!) The place had very dark lighting and a good buzzy atmosphere about it. The staff were really friendly and chatted away and let us sample beers in advance of trying. The food looked good as it went by, but I never actually tried any so can't comment on taste. In conclusion if your looking for a busy modern bar doing craft beer you should check this place out.

Yelp
I like Cafe Sara, but I am not sure if I love it... The food is mediocre at best, but that being said it is one of the few spots in Oslo that serve food until they close the bar. The service is friendly, and their beer selection is pretty good, however only a few waiters know anything about their selection, which means unless you yourself knows something about beer you might have a difficult time ordering. Cafe Sara is however the perfect spot to meet up with a couple of friends. It has a relaxed and cozy vibe and an amazing backyard with heating lamps, so even on cold evenings you can sit outside!

Yelp
Got the pizza wrong and the service was lazy the menu didn't say what the food comes with and the price for a dish is to expensive

Yelp
The husband and I went to Cafe Sara on a recommendation from a local brewery as a spot to find their beer on tap. Well it wasn't on tap, but they did have many other choices, which I am totally in favor of, I love a good selection of beer. In true Oslo fashion the beer wasn't cheap, and the Schous Pils was the best deal. The food prices weren't horrible, but the food itself was just ok. We started with the Tzatziki dip and chose baguette as our dipping option. The baguette surprisingly wasn't great, I suspect it wasn't homemade but the frozen then heated up variety. The dip itself was ok, nothing amazing, and I like tzatziki. For dinner we decided to share the beef burrito. It can with some nice greens on the side and a very strange "mexican" type couscous/rice/I dunno know what. The burrito itself was ok, they weren't stingy on the filling and it was nicely spiced. Service here was spot on. The vibe of the place inside is cozy and kind of an old pub style. My three star rating I guess comes from it wasn't memorable, the food was just ok, and I am not sure I would vote to come back in the future.

Yelp
On the plus sides: lots of tables so large chance to get one, popular, central. Other than that this place in my opinion is a bit impersonal. It's popular as it is very available and has also an inner yard where people can smoke. The inner yard has no view or anything. It's just more space for tables. Generally I feel this place has nothing more to give than space. Have eaten here twice, both times I chose a burrito. It's not bad. Very cafe like food so it is very average quality wise. The service is ok fast. It's a good place to have a coffee with a friend sometimes, but would never become a favorite for me.

Yelp
Got to this place late in the evening after not finding anything open. They apparently serve food till 3 in the night here so no problems. Got the fish and chips, just had this in London so was excited to taste it norwegian style. Turned out the trout was well cooked, the fries not like the uk, but delicious and crisp and the sauce pretty good too. The prize was suprisingly low for Oslo.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of meeting both owners who were nothing but gentleman. Hip and trendy pub centrally located in Oslo. Fantastic date spot or great place to meet up with some friends or large groups. The beer selection is amazing! Local brews as well as rare beers on tap. The food is also on point. Try the burger or the kebab. Very tasty. They even have a dance club section in the back that gets poppin towards the late hours. Highly recommended, especially if you're looking for some of the best beer selection in Oslo.

Yelp
This one is a hidden gem, I should say. It's not a touristy place, which makes it better, yet you aren't frowned upon when you enter this place. A nice bar welcomes you when you enter. I figured it's self-service. The bar seating is something they can improve on, but otherwise it's a pretty big place with lots and lots of tables. It's very busy and packed on most evenings, crazy in weekends and I guess it's a very popular "hang-out-with-buddies" place for locals. I saw crowd even late in night on the weekend. Good Pizza, decent selection of food and great of drinks. Oslo is expensive and this place doesn't do anything to change my outlook. A point docked for that.

Yelp
One of my favorite places. The food isn't spectacular but it is consistent and good. None of my friends have ever complained or even disliked anything they've tasted there. The atmosphere is really friendly and cozy. The service is usually good as well.

Yelp
I went here on my birthday and totally loved how the atmosphere was. Everyone in there seemed very happy. My friend ordered the fajitas and they smelled so damn good. All I had was a beer but definitely will be back just to hangout with friends.

Yelp
What a great place to relax and have a drink. Fresh off the plane from NYC I found this place because it has a GREAT beer list. In fact it had some of Europe's very rare beers (Cantillon!). The staff was friendly and spoke great English (thank goodness for silly Americans) and had a beer poured for me quickly. The street scene and setting is nice and such a nice sunny Oslo day it was great just enjoying a beer.

Yelp
Café Sara is a great place if you're looking for dinner in the late evening, they are quite unique in the area with serving dinner until closing hours in the late night. Though, I must say, for anything else I rather go somewhere else. I know this is a favorite place for many, but personally I have always mainly experienced it as a loud and not very cozy. The food is OK, but I don't experience the menu as overly inspiring - you can get much better for the same prices (or less) at many budget pearls in Oslo.

Yelp
Love this place. Haven't had a chance yet to try their food but the atmosphere is awesome and the beer menu is always changing, what more could you want! I love coming here with friends, although; I would recommend getting here early or making a reservation because it fills up fast! Lovely people working here too!

Yelp
For drinks on a Friday night, yes! For food, oh god no! I really, really to like this place because it is so close. I just have never eaten anything here that was worth the calories or the price. I think I have tried just about everything on the menu and nothing is bad, it's just not good. I do like the atmosphere and I like the prices of the drinks, otherwise it would get 2 stars.

Yelp
Very nice place for a drink or/and get something to eat! The atmosphere is very nice and relaxed. Prices are below average, and the quality is good.

Yelp
PLEASE DON'T GO TO THIS TERRIBLE PLACE. I went here after a long day where I'd gone up at 5 AM for work and after I'd downed two pints with my friends, a bouncer threw me out for resting my eyes and looking sleepy! Apparently, they have a rule for how tired you can be in here and no matter how hard and soberly I tried to explain that I was just tired and not too drunk, I had to leave and had to WALK ALL THE WAY HOME AT MIDNIGHT before I could contact my friends online. It ruined my evening, to say the least, thanks a lot for a horrible experience, Café Sara! I would not recommend anyone to go here due to multiple reports of very rude staff and they obviously don't treat you very well here, as I've learned.

Yelp
Relaxing place. The food is cheap but good and the kitchen is open all night to 3am. Great service and nice staff
