This became, somewhat unexpectedly, our regular place in Vienna. It started out as a convenient location, right on the Ringstraß and close to our tourist destinations. But then it became so much more.

But really: not the usual artist cafe in Vienna, but an establishment with a long history, frequented by Hoffman the furniture designer. It's a Viennese cafe, for sure, and serves fairly reasonably priced breakfast options.
We went on the first day before beginning a day of museum visits. My sister and I both got the Viennese breakfast, which comes with a little jar of Stadt apricot jam (famous), croissant, homemade roll, butter, and a soft boiled egg in an egg holder (you eat it by cracking off the top bit of shell and then spooning it out). It also comes with coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.
The amount of food for €8,70 was good. Then, we each added a fresh juice. The Apple juice is awesome. I highly recommend it. I didn't try the orange juice but my sister enjoyed it. Our waiter was lovely.
The next morning, we tried going somewhere else but wound up back at Schwarzenberg because other places let us down by being closed or requiring reservations (this is a pattern). This time, we got the Schwarzenberg breakfast. Comes with roll (pre-buttered), two soft-boiled eggs (peeled for you and placed in a small glass bowl), and coffee/tea/HC. My sister added an order of muesli (basically, European granola, popular in Austria and Germany) and yogurt. The yogurt is so natural that it doesn't taste at all like added sugar which you don't know is there until it's not. It was too tangy for me, but again, she liked it. I got another Apple juice and happily drank it.
That evening, we returned after searching in vain for open cafes. Turns out, Epiphany is a big deal... so we came in from the freezing cold and ordered 2 hot chocolates an an apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce. It was amazing. Also, I used my bare bones German and felt good about it.
Love this place. Thankful it exists.
