Lovely cafe, delicious food & drinks, and wonderful service. I had the matcha pancakes that were perfectly cooked, and the flavor of the matcha was balanced- same with the dirty chai. The cafe itself had a great calm atmosphere with spaced out tables so even when there were people, it didn’t feel crowded. The service also is a great and all the staff is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. 10/10 would recommend checking out this place.

Google
pancakes were burnt but cold ? advertised to come with “freshly made whipped cream”, i got syrup and a container of lemon sauce? i didn’t take a good pic of the chicken and waffles but it was a thin piece of chicken that as my boyfriend described “tasted like eating chicken gizzard” and mid waffle. we ordered crispy red potatoes which said they were served with romanesco sauce and aioli? basically they gave us crispy potatoes with ranch, marinara sauce, pickled onions, jalapeños? and thick slices of parmesan for some reason. and the whole meal costed $70. i’ll say the coffee was delish tho. but disrespectfully disgusting and weird meal. we are going to tito’s tacos to try and make sense of this trauma

I have come here multiple times after having an out of body experience while eating their Tres Leches French Toast. It is by far the best french toast I have ever had in my life. I've since ordered other items and they are pretty good, but nothing beats that dish. Everything with bread is a good option because that's the secret to this place: they bake well. Service is top notch, food arrives quickly and the space has great trailing plants all over the walls. I like the comfy pillows on the bench seats as well.

My husband loves burgers and always says the best burger he has ever had is here! We also love their Shakshuka. The service is nice and the atmosphere is relaxed. Parking is also free which is really nice. Love it here and definitely recommend!

Restaurant Critic Guide

Google
Nestled just a few blocks from LAX, Café Solar strikes a balance between a fast-paced coffee shop atmosphere and a relaxed dining space. With ample seating, it’s an ideal spot for a quick coffee or a leisurely breakfast or lunch. The menu caters to various dietary needs, offering classic coffee drinks alongside a diverse selection of meals. I opted for the avocado toast with a fried egg on top. The thick country bread was an excellent choice, providing a sturdy and flavorful foundation. The avocado slices were perfectly ripe and well-seasoned with chili flakes, herbs, and radish slices. While the flavors were spot on, the avocado tended to slide off the bread while eating. A simple fix would be mashing it for a more even spread, improving both texture and ease of eating. Additionally, the radish slices were a bit too thick and slightly bland, making them a chewy contrast to the rest of the dish. Thinner, moon-shaped slices—or omitting them altogether—could enhance the overall balance. Service was excellent, with friendly staff and prompt food delivery. Overall, Café Solar is a great spot near LAX for both coffee and a satisfying meal. With a few minor tweaks, this could be the best avocado toast in LA.

Came here after a morning practice at Westchester Golf Course. It was a 3 min drive from the range and only 4 min walk from a handful of auto shops. Tip: Order at the counter and take the number with you before finding a table. I was at loss sitting for 10 min catching no attention. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Limited street parking. More than a dozen Latte flavors. I ordered a rose Latte and the beautiful barista made me an Akita Inu!! So cute and made my morning. I didn’t expect a real steak at a breakfast restaurant but here it is, huge portion and tasty french fries. I love the set up of this shop. Will come back later.

I've been coming here for years, for many reasons: the people are friendly, the atmosphere is inviting, and the food is perfection. My faves are the breakfast burrito and Spanish latte. The juices are great too and my son loves the croissants. It is a little pricey, but the portions are big. They have a big parking lot in the back, along with indoor and outdoor seating.

Google
Omg delicious!!!!! Cute little cafe with 5star meals and drinks. I totally forgot to take a photo of my avocado toast but omg it was beautiful and delicious 😋 the customer service is top notch. I don't know if the person at the register was the owner but she was so friendly with all her customers. Will definitely come back for more nommin ☕🍳🥞

Yelp
If you've ever flown into LAX on an early flight and wished you could grab a nice breakfast and some good coffee before hitting the madness of LA freeways to your final destination this is your answer. A really sweet little spot with plenty of seating both indoors and a little side courtyard outdoors. They do egg dishes, pastries, fruit, good coffee drinks and whole pots of brewed organic teas. All with really friendly service. Couldn't decide between the Shakshuka or and omelet. Went for the loaded veg omelet and potatoes. It was so delicious. Fortified after a 7am flight and we were ready to hit the road to Palm Springs!

Moonnica C.

Yelp
A nice brunch place to go before your flight at LAX! I love that there is a parking lot since that is a thing to look for when eating in LA. The cafe is comfy, has wonderful space between tables, and some of the best natural lighting! I got their peppermint mocha and it had a great coffee level, a little bit more peppermint would've been more to my liking. I tried my friend's dulce de leche latte and it was delicious! On to the food, I got the banana and nutella crepe to cure my sweet breakfast craving! The bananas were definitely fully yellow still and could have browned more before usage. Extremely generous with the nutella so sweet craving cured! It was a satisfactory crepe. I'm sure most places don't salt their dishes much to allow customers to choose their salt amount, but my friend's omelet and potatoes definitely has no salt or pepper. I understand allowing customers to adjust to their preference, but cooking with seasoning can help the end result because it is a little bland so the other flavors like the mushrooms aren't coming out.

Yelp
First Timer here!! The food was great but the coffee was even better!!! The service was pretty good, the ambiance was very pleasant and peaceful. There was an older Hispanic guy that would bring our food and clean up after we were done- he was so nice and very attentive! I wish I could've gotten his name! Overall it was great there- it was my first stop after my 6am flight.

Jiemei G.

Yelp
Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Easy street side parking. They have fresh cold pressed juices and typical breakfast options. Their cookie croissant is so good! Service was great too

Randy M.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast. If you want a nice fresh twist to the standard breakfast fare please stop here. Claudio took good care of us. We had the shakshouka and Nicks favorite omlette. Portions were plentiful. Coffee was great as well. If you are from out of town and live where you only have National chain breakfast places then challenge your palate and stop here to up your breakfast game!

Kelsie M.

Yelp
Everything was delicious and service was quick! We sat outside on their side patio that was really clean and had some shade. We ordered and ate in about 30 minutes total, and then hung out a bit just to enjoy the weather. Thank you, Café Solar staff!

Rene P.

Yelp
The cafe is aesthetically pleasing. They have a few vegan options. I ordered their avocado toast, which was ok, the bread was good, soft and thick. Avocado toast 3/5, it's just an avocado toast nothing too grand about it. I also ordered their vegan pasta which passed the smell test, it smelled incredible, but the taste was pretty bland, the pasta itself was good, but the mushrooms and broccoli were just bland. I also got their potatoes, but I wish it had a description of what it had because it is not vegan friendly. I expected it to be cubed potatoes but it was actually full boiled potatoes which was something new and I liked it. But as mentioned, it was not vegan friendly, it had a garlic aioli sauce, cheese, jalapeños, pickled red onions, and I believe it had a piece of ham if I'm not mistaken. Overall, I only at the potatoes that didn't have any meat or sauce on them, but wish I knew what it had so I can ask them if they can modify to a vegan friendly diet. Lastly I ordered chilaquiles for my girlfriend. She's vegetarian so it had egg and cheese. She said that they were ok, chilaquiles are meant to be spicy or have a kick, but she said it just tasted like tomato sauce. Their coffees can be accommodated for a vegan. Overall I'll give this place a 2/5 for a food for a Vegan, 3.5/5 for their coffee for a Vegan.

Yelp
Such a cute French inspired cafe (boulangerie and patisserie!) in Westchester. It's a little bit hidden away. I must've driven by so many times but never knew that such a cute place was hiding in this spot! I can't believe I haven't stopped by sooner. It is beautifully decorated and is such a nice space to work or study (no outlets though). It's pretty quiet with some background music and people chatting over brunch. You order at the counter and they'll bring it to your table. There are plenty of tables and it's a decent sized cafe so it's easy to find a seat even during busier times. There's also a patio area outside for even more seating! The food and drinks are pricey - but the quality is good and the food portions are worth the price. I tried the shakashuka and it was hot, spicy, and perfectly seasoned. Paired with gluten free bread and it was such a good lunch. I've also tried the grilled chicken sandwich. It's so filling, especially if you pair it with the yummy potatoes. The latte was nice and creamy. Nothing special but solid. Parking is easy since there's a huge plaza parking lot with tons of space.

Bianca C.

Yelp
Everything was really good! Will need to come back to taste their pastries. This was a great place to eat and work in a comfy place with great ambiance. Lots of plants, natural lighting, smells of a bakery, pillows for lumbar support, and easy listening music.

Angela R.

Yelp
Food was probably a 3, Coffee a 4.5, Service a 5. I came early in the morning, maybe like 7 or 8 on a holiday Monday. I was able to get a table, but the cafe filled up quickly- this is a popular spot! The staff was hustling and working hard, but was still so pleasant and efficient. I started with the dulce de leche latte which was fantastic, rich and sweet but not overly sugary, and ordered a phenomenal americano as a second round. I went with the matcha pancakes because I was in a sweet breakfast kind of mood. The pancakes were sweet and tasty, but I didn't get a lot of the matcha flavor coming through. A bit dry, and the strawberries on top weren't the ripest. Probably would try something else or maybe just stick to a pastry. Ambiance and decor were nice. Good WiFi. A good locale to come and hangout and get some work done while visiting LA, as long as you come early enough to get a spot and aren't overly distracted by boisterous, buzzing atmosphere (or have good earbuds if you are!)

Yelp
Me and my wife went to Cafe Solar and it's super cute. The interior feels very homey, and their drinks are unique. They only had a couple people working the whole place when we went, but they served us in a reasonable time for the amount of orders they had.

Isabel Y.

Yelp
Upon arrivial we where not greeted and just instructed to order first then sit . The drinks took about 20 mins to come out. Another drink took 30 beacuse the worker was not paying attention when he took the order. The food tasted very bad and was burned and had a weird taste to it . This cafe is very dirty from the tables not being wiped down to the bathroom . I 0/10 would recommend .

Jason T.

Yelp
I have been here a few times and every time I got there I just feel cold... I think the ambiance is a little flat and loud because of the cheap aluminum chairs. The food is overall an 8-9/10, but the ambiance is very cheap.

Steve C.

Yelp
Nice cafe if you want to get some work done. There is a lot of seating, some with cushions along the wall, and the wifi is fast. I came later in the day, so it wasn't busy at all and there was plenty of space. I ordered a cold brew and it was good, not the best I've had but a solid choice still. The employees were all super nice and welcoming and I would come back again. The food look pretty good, so I may have to come here more for lunch.

Patrick T.

Yelp
The service was good, but everything else was absolutely subpar in ever way possible. The latte was one of the worst lattes I've ever had. Foamy, mouth burning hot. Tasted like the shittiest burnt drip coffee you would find at a gas station. Whoever made that latte needs to be trained or fired. Breakfast potatoes were basically the frozen pre made kind that they I assume warm up. Even the sunny side up eggs were not sunny side up. I would never come to this place again and I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Claire P.

Yelp
I really like café solar. The food is delicious and it's a great little spot in Westchester for coffee breakfast or for lunch. It's dog friendly inside and outside, which is amazing.

Adam G.

Yelp
This place is such a waste of a good location. The food is very poor (I've been twice) and tastes like they don't really have a kitchen. The first time I went I ordered poached eggs and toast. The toast was fine. The poached eggs were soaked in vinegar. That's a sign of old eggs, implying low turnover and perhaps why the visit #2 problems happened last week. The second time I went with my wife because we wanted it to be good. A local place, nice decor, close to us - we wanted it to work. We ordered from a fairly extensive menu. My wife ordered a standard breakfast with 2 fired eggs. They ran out of eggs but didn't tell us until they brought the food. Instead of two fried eggs they brought one fried, one scrambled. How do they have scrambled eggs if they're out of eggs? Obviously, they are not using fresh eggs. I ordered scrambled eggs and they had no texture, again implying they're using pre-mixed eggs. For a breakfast place, fresh eggs have to be a bare minimum. The potatoes are not fresh either, just from a frozen bag. Overall the food is 1 star. The decor and location is 4 stars. The end result is 2 stars. Maybe you can grab a coffee and write here, but I wouldn't eat the food. It's bloody awful.

Yelp
Great breakfast burrito and French toast. Really cute cafe and nice staff. Would visit again

Yelp
So a another new place! My BFF suggested we try it out! Food was amazing ! And my matcha latte excellent! So no waiters you go up order and they bring it to you which was fine. Nice and cozy place . I suggest getting the matcha pancakes so delicious! And eggs light and fluffy and taste amazing ! There portions are so big! You might want to share. My BFF got oatmeal, with banana and strawberries and it looked like for 3-4 people ! Go try them out! All there food looks delicious! I'm going back for sure to try something else.

Mary B.

Yelp
Came back today. Dropped the rating to a 2, and I'm being nice, but this rating is solely due to the breakfast burrito. The omelet was a 3 and the location service ambience is a 4. I just spent $20 for a sack of potatoes, one flour tortilla, two slices of avocado, one slice of fat filled bacon and two eggs fried over medium in what they call a breakfast burrito. You can see in the photos that the food waste on this one is higher than the value of what you get for $20. Super disappointed. I normally would not put such a graphic type photo but it is important to deconstruct what's inside this burrito in order for you to know what exactly you're getting into. So if you're not into eating a handful of dry potatoes with some spicy salsa and a tinge of avocado bacon and egg, don't do it! If you are then more power to ya! This place is still way cute and fantastic for other things, just not the BB. I don't want to pay $20 for a sack of potatoes with spicy salsa that burns my mouth, soggy fatty bacon, hardly any avocado and minimal egg. No bueno.

Carolina T.

Yelp
Good coffee & the guava pastry is the yummiest I've had. I will definitely come back to try some of their hot food. The ambiance is very urban chill saw people with laptops. Cute spot. The service was great they guided me towards the pastry with some convo & they bring to your table.

Rob P.

Yelp
The food is always good and the service is very polite and usually prompt. They are not a fast food place though so bring your patience and enjoy the atmosphere. I recommend the breakfast burrito, it is one of the best I've had anywhere.

Karina C.

Yelp
If it was possible to work out of this place I would. Atmosphere is great, food is delicious, service is excellent and coffee is caffeinated. Weekends can get busy but if you're an early bird like me get there early.

PT M.

Yelp
It's a cool looking spot, with nice ambiance, but the $21 breakfast burrito I tried was just terrible. No taste whatsoever, very bland even with the included generic salsa. I had to throw half of it away! One and done for me.

Rolando S.

Yelp
Great little spot by LAX. I got the breakfast sandwich and a latte. The food came out super fast and tasted so good. The only down side is they have limited seating and its a popular spot so it gets busy. Overall the the service was great and i would definitely try it again

Maria N.

Yelp
Yuk! What is this place?! I can only do pastries and juices from here, the menu is atrocious! Every meal I've ordered has disappointed. It never looks the way it's described - weird!

Jay Brendan A.

Yelp
Amazing food, service, and ambiance. Great brunch place that's not too crowded. Truly one of the lesser known gems of the area. Lots of parking in the back too. Amazing coffee. Thank you for the amazing Easter brunch experience!

Lauren T.

Yelp
i had some extra time to myself and decided to meet up with a friend. she suggested cafe solar as i told her i was near the airport. i was thoroughly surprised to learn about the huge FREE parking lot they have in the back. i couldn't believe it! lol. the cafe is a great. we ordered at the counter and decided to sit in a little corner to chat. i decided on the chicken pesto panini and a hot chamomile tea. the presentation on both items were beautiful. my girlfriend got the avocado toast and a latte. last time she was at cafe solar they made a beautiful design on top of her drink; she was a little disappointed to find that her drink this time around didn't have the design she was looking forward. however, it didn't ruin her experience. the people who work here were very friendly and everything came out in a timely fashion. the only gripe i have with my chicken pesto panini was that my sandwich had a fishy smell to it. i couldn't understand why since the salmon toast my friend had was not cooked. besides that, i would definitely come back if i were in the area.

Wendy D.

Yelp
Food and drinks were meh all around. Average baked goods and breakfast dishes, the lavender latte doesn't come out as purple and tastes pretty artificial. It's a cute place though, near the airport, has street parking and pretty spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. An okay place to sit and chill!

Marybeth V.

Yelp
This cafe is such a cute neighborhood spot with great food and coffee/fresh juice options. I love the outside seating options and could definitely enjoy some remote work here for a change of scenery. It was very busy during my last visit, and the staff was attentive and completed all of their orders with care!

Mona A.

Yelp
I had a highly disappointing experience. While enjoying my eggs, I discovered a hair that was entangled in the dish. This was not only unappetizing but also a significant concern for food hygiene and quality. Although the ambiance and service were pleasant, the presence of a foreign object in my meal overshadowed the positive aspects of my visit. As a customer, I expect high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail, especially in the preparation of food.

Sara K.

Yelp
The atmosphere and vibe was awesome! Clean and airy with lots of natural light and cute decor. I ordered the Spanish latte with oat milk and the avocado toast. The latte was super yummy and not too sweet despite having condensed milk in it. The avocado toast however, was pretty lackluster... the bread was the perfect texture but it had a very thin layer of avocado on it which is disappointing. As far as the toppings they too weren't anything to ride home about- lightly sprinkled chili flakes and a few slices of radish. The dish also came with a side of greens that had a nice drizzle of olive oil and lemon.

Neelu Y.

Yelp
My boyfriend took me to Cafe Solar for breakfast yesterday and I still can't believe that I've never been to this place before. I ordered the Nic's Favorite Omelette with greens. Our food came out pretty quickly and when it did, I was absolutely shocked at the massive portion sizes. The omelette was huge and the greens that it came with were piled high on my plate. I really enjoyed my omelette. My favorite part about it was definitely the sun dried tomatoes. I was honestly a bit skeptical about the greens because it seemed like it was just a bunch of arugula, but it was surprisingly delicious. They toss the arugula in olive oil and lemon juice which definitely help with the bitterness. My boyfriend got the 405 Omelette with potatoes. He said that while it was good, he still preferred the Nic's Favorite. Parking was pretty easy in the parking lot in the back. Sections of it are closed for construction so there are less spots, but we still found one quickly. I wish I knew about this place when I needed places to study, because this seemed like the perfect environment for that. There are plenty of tables and, in my opinion, the noise level is great for working.

Adetoun O.

Yelp
Food and service was an A+. It's such a great place to start the morning with well prepared, delicious breakfast and coffee.

Chloe K.

Yelp
got the spanish latte, pretty good, service is nice and fast, overall a good spot for coffee and there's lots of seating, they play music so it's decently loud

Brittany A.

Yelp
Lovely ambiance and always quick with pick up orders I love their iced americano with rose syrup and their Greek salad is *chefs kiss* I usually ask for extra mint dressing because it's so delicious and everyone who has taken my order over the phone or in person has been super friendly

Omar R.

Yelp
Good food, but not customer centric. Waiter was passive aggressive by making a snarky remark about why he brought our coffee late in the first place. I simply asked if they can replace my coffee with a fresh "to go" cup (since we were almost done with our food by the time they brought our coffee).. After finally accepting my request, he comes out with a 10oz cup (not even filled near the top- so more like 9oz) and just sets it on the table without saying anything. Cmon guys, you can do better. You only get one chance to make a good first impression. This was not a good impression.

Michael H.

Yelp
After paying over $45 for pancakes, eggs, fruit and toast. I was highly disappointed in the pancakes which were cold and service was underwhelming. Won't be back.

Brenton B.

Yelp
Café Solar is an amazing café and restaurant in Westchester. On Manchester, near the Manchester/Sepulveda intersection, there is ample parking and access via small alley from parking lot in addition to main entrance from street parking at the front. There is an almost seamless transition from outdoor to indoor with comfortable seating and spacious tables. Their service is great. Very helpful with any questions. Usually pretty fast but a little slower as expected at brunch rush on Saturdays. Food is great. Lots of breakfast/brunch options that are tasty and span the healthier to the more savory/rich dishes. Huge menu for coffee including excellent standard drip to specialities like Spanish Lattes. Definitely a small business to try out and continue to support!!

Mark O.

Yelp
Here's a tip. If you're closed for a full film production on location, update your Yelp page!!

Jessica T.

Yelp
David provided the worst service I've ever encountered at a restaurant. He mistakenly charged us for items we didn't order. When we politely requested additional butter for the cold pancakes that were served, he rudely threw the butter on the table and made a sarcastic comment "7 butters for this one table." To top it off, the bakery display case had flies inside. His hostile and unprofessional behavior was completely uncalled for. I'm a frequent customer, but this experience was absolutely terrible. I strongly advise against dining here. THUMBS DOWN FOR DAVID! He's absolutely terrible at his job.

Nancy M.

Yelp
Discovered Cafe Solar recently. The ambience is upscale but relaxing. The coffee is great and the pastries are yummy. We plan to return for the full menu experience. The barista is friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our experience.

Aimes O.

Yelp
Ok... so I absolutely love this place and the owner, Milton! He makes the best Strawberry Smoothies for me. This cafe has been my go-to study place as I complete my dissertation writing. It's not too loud or busy for someone who needs backgrounds noise and a little busyness to get through a session. Prices are still on the high-end, but tasty for sure. All of the servers and employees who work here are super friendly. The ambiance and esthetics are very chill and just gives positive energy and vibes. Oh, and the restrooms are always clean, too. As I type this, I'm low key hoping everyone doesn't come running to take up space (lol jk)!

Fernando V.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Great community brunch spot. East street parking and nice indoor and outdoor seating. The food here is great and so is the service. Huge shoutout to Estefania she is amazing and always takes my order with a smile. She understands customer service! Overall this is THE place if you're looking for a breakfast or lunch spot! Cafe Solar is 5 stars all the way!

Nancy C.

Yelp
I'v been here twice. The first time I had a wonderful experience. The second time unfortunately the cashier was rude and annoyed that I came in close to closing time. I'm hoping that the times are now clearer so no one else has to experience this.

Blanca R.

Yelp
This is a place of 5 stars! The food is amazing I love the chilaquiles and the matcha latte. Try the lavender latte hot you won't regret it. It is the perfect amount of sweet and the lavender taste is not overpowering. The ambiance is super chill. They have outdoor patio and dogs are welcome. I love coming here for Sunday brunch with my family. However, I just had to take off one star because one of the servers is very rude. He looks mad all the time and he seems bothered when you ask him for anything. The usual response is we don't have it. He walks away in the middle of you speaking to him. I'm very understanding of the fast pace of the kitchen and the way that people have good days and bad days. Still this is the reaction and behavior we get every single time. It just gives a feeling of discomfort I receive that service when everyone else is super nice and welcoming. I bet when you visit you will know who I am taking about.

Michael D.

Yelp
This place has a solid local feel with an upscale European cafe vibe. I've been coming here since I first moved into the neighborhood. I definitely miss some of the staff that's worked there over the years that really brightened up the place like Kenya and Scott, but they really make an effort to make you feel comfortable and welcome. The food is really my favorite style of solid American meets Mediterranean/ French. I get the Nic's Omelette everyday but it's all good. The coffee too now is back on the level so I order that as well. They now put cute little sayings on the top in the foam (which I have no idea how they do it) but it's awesome. Solid spot!
