Café ‘t Sluisje

Great bars in the north of Amsterdam. Almost waterfront, with a terrace area in summer. The place is a typical Amsterdam brown bar. With a nice, cosy, friendly atmosphere. The food is very good but a little expensive. Wide choice of alcoholic beverages and board games. On certain evenings, events are organized, with a great atmosphere. What's more, it's interesting to stroll down this little street with its beautiful houses and views.

Hidden Gem! This Café serves fantastic apple pie and has great staff. For tourists staying in the Amsterdam city center, I recommend taking a bike tour via the free ferry to Amsterdam Noord to visit this very idyllically situated café. It's definitely worth it!

Best appletaart I’ve had! Wonderful patio and chill vibe off the beaten path. If you didn’t know to come here you would never stumble upon it. Some of my favorite types of places!

Just a delightful stop on a bike loop that we do regularly. Lovely terrace along the water, friendly staff, and huge umbrellas in case it rains.

A hidden gem in Amsterdam Noord, perfect for enjoying summer nights with its good atmosphere, friendly people, and fairly priced drinks. One of my favorite places to go.

We were sitting outside, we had our drinks and food, and when I asked to receive one more drink the owner (old boring lady) started complaining that we have been sitting there for 15 minutes without ordering (after we finished our food)... are we supposed to choke on food? And by the way there was nobody waiting for our table... Such a terrible mindset from that old lady...never coming back to this ugly place

Enjoying the sunset while the waitresses were quick and very nice to talk to. If that couldn't top it of, the quality of the burger was superb and made it all the better. Food: (Bruger) - The burger was made of quality meat, having the good amount of juiciness - The fries were crisp and salted just right - The side salad was fresh and gave a good contrast Waitresses and service: - Good, quick and very friendly. - if not to busy, they will definitely entertain a small conversation and make some jokes Overall I would definitely recommend going, the view over the water, the relatively quiet area, the good service and food create a nice ambiance and all in all good experience.

This place is a little gem tucked away to the north east of Amsterdam station. Hop on one of the many free ferries from behind the station (literally just walk on, there's no need for a ticket), and in 5 minutes you're across the water. With suitcases it took us about 40 minutes to trundle up to the cafe, but luggage free or on the bike it's a much shorter journey. The cafe is tucked away on Nieuwerdammerdijk, just up from the church, in the midst of some lovely houses which, unlike the central part of the city, are all quite low in height (single or two floors max) It's been there over 100 years, and you certainly tell why. The service and the food were lovely (that apple cake!) and on a nice day you can sit outside in the sunshine down by the waterside. I'd imagine it's a good place to hunker down in less clement weather too, although it doesn't take too many to fill it. One of the highlights of my last trip to Amsterdam.

Contrary to the yelp closed status, Cafe Sluisje is very open and a great Amsterdam experience. The picturesque outdoor seating on the water was very lovely, along with the weather. The staff is very friendly. We tried the bitterballen and a hummus plate. The bitterballen was very good-sort of like fried beef stew balls. It's quiet and frequented by locals...right in a residential area. I highly recommend it if ever visiting North Amsterdam.

This place is a gem. An olde favorite of mine for many years now. Wonderful hosts and regulars that become friends. Regardless of the season (sunny weather is always best), the setting is perfection. Nestled among centuries old homes, 'Sluisje is beautifully set. If you are on the North side, do stop by. I will see you there! Proost!

Certainly not a gastro pub. It is an old school pub, with old school pub food. At least the price goes with it and you can get a burger with fries for four euros. Service was friendly and quick. It was a cloudy, cold day though and we had a late lunch. I wonder how they would cope in a sunny day at lunch time. The location is lovely. All in all a decent place for a beer or a coffee.
