Do yourself a favor and visit Cafe Tacobar—a hidden gem that effortlessly blends exceptional drinks, authentic tacos, and unforgettable hospitality. We arrived around 3 PM (highly recommended for a relaxed vibe), and dove straight into an impressive lineup of cocktails. The star of the show was undoubtedly the Salmoncito, a brilliant concoction featuring Condesa local gin that perfectly balances botanical freshness with a subtle kick. But what truly sets this place apart is the adventurous spirit behind the bar.
Our bartender was none other than the owner himself, Chris, whose infectious laughter and witty banter had us chuckling so much I’m convinced I earned a new wrinkle that day. Chris is a true maestro of mixology, introducing us to flavors and spirits we never knew existed: from the mysterious Mexico root (if you know, you know), to pulque distilled, peaty whisky in a mezcal drink, sotol, Raicia, and Bacanora. I was furiously jotting notes just to keep up!
As if our experience wasn’t already special enough, Chris is about to be featured in Tales of the Coctales in New Orleans, Louisiana, just two weeks from now. The photographer’s presence added a hilarious twist—capturing the funniest moments and genuine joy that radiates from this place.
Tacos That Speak for Themselves
No visit to Cafe Tacobar would be complete without trying their tacos. We savored two unforgettable varieties: chilorio (a rich, savory pork taco) and chayote (a delicate, squash-like vegetable taco). Both were bursting with authentic flavors that perfectly complemented the drinks.
Why Cafe Tacobar is a Must-Visit
Whether you’re a local or a gringo, a seasoned traveler or a curious foodie, Cafe Tacobar is the perfect spot for a memorable afternoon or evening. The combination of expertly crafted drinks, mouthwatering tacos, and the warm, hilarious presence of Chris makes this more than just a bar—it’s an experience.
