Delicious! Fresh ingredients, good flavors, as good as any Indian restaurant we have tried. Nice to sit at a picnic table and have a big plate of ono curry and shrimp vindaloo after a long hike 🤍

Google
So glad I gave Cafe Turmeric a chance - this place is amazing! I tried the fish vindaloo and the flavors were wonderful and tasted so fresh. Price about what you would expect but just know that currently they only accept cash and Venmo. Will return if I am ever back on the island!

We stumbled upon Cafe Turmeric after our hike on the Kalalau Trail, and I’m so glad we did! The fish curry I had was absolutely incredible—honestly one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The flavors were rich, and the dish was perfectly balanced. A super tasty spot —definitely a must-visit if you’re in the area!

I still can’t stop thinking about the shrimp coconut curry at Cafe Turmeric — hands down the BEST I’ve ever had. The flavors were so rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced that I genuinely wanted to go back for one last bowl before leaving Kaua‘i… but sadly couldn’t make it happen. That dish alone made the visit unforgettable. If you’re on the island, do yourself a favor and don’t miss this hidden gem. I’ll be dreaming of that curry until I’m back!

We decided to try this food truck as it was one of the few open on a Sunday afternoon. We had never tried Indian food but it sounded good. I ordered the coconut shrimp curry, very mild in case it was too spicy, and it ended up being super delicious. It seemed reasonably priced for a food truck. Only thing is they only take cash or Venmo but we were lucky we had cash on us. I would definitely try this place again sometime if I'm ever in the area again. I liked that there was picnic tables available to sit at considering it started pouring rain while we were waiting.

Google
The food was super hot and super delicious!! We got the chana palak and veggie Jalfrezi, both were really good! Portion sizes were enough! All curries come with rice by default. Outdoor seating was casual.

Google
What a great place, the food was fresh and piping hot when it was served. Wonderful flavors, I had the coconut veggie curry. I enjoyed tasting the Dal and medium spicy is not too bad at all. The Nan was also served hot and went so well with the dishes. The staff was wonderfully polite and friendly. I will enjoy returning here, bon appetit.

Google
We dined on the outside benches for an early evening meal. We had the prawn, fish and vegetarian curries, and none of us left a single bit of the meal! Full of flavour and freshness with the option to adjust the spice level to taste (mild to extra-spicy). We had some drinks from the liquor store next to the trucks, which added to the overall experience. We will 100% be coming back for more during our trip! (Edit: we came back for a second visit, and it was as amazing as our first) Yum!

Yelp
fast service, good food, and it was vibessss. guava juice 5/5 hibiscus lemonade 5/5 naan 5/5 sweet naan (i didn't know what it is but it's like a reg naan with coconut flakes and almonds) 2/5 shrimp vindalu 4.5/5 chicken tikka masala 5/5 also their spice is spicy so beware..

Yelp
Truck food of the Highest Quality with large portions. We ordered togo and asked for a side of "extra spice," gotta get it! 1 order will feed two...TWICE! (I love the highly spiced but must consider those whom I share the meal!) Enjoy while they "fresh assemble" your orders, for the reward is in the eating.

Yelp
This place was great! I loved the shrimp curry. Food: I ordered the shrimp curry and I thought it was good flavor wise, but I feel like it was lacking a bit more flavor. I think it was due to the demographic that they usually service, if you get my point. Overall: If you want Indian food on Kauai, this is a great place to get some.

Yelp
A few blocks from the Chin Yung Village shopping center is a parking lot that houses a few food trucks. It's called Hanalei street eats, and this is where you'll find some of the best Indian fare at Cafe Tumeric. Parking can get tight, you may be better off parking in the shopping area and walking to this place. They only accept cash/Venmo, and there's an additional $2 charge if you're paying using Venmo. They have vegetarian and seafood options. I got the Ono fish Vindaloo w/ Rice which is served with rice and was delicious! You can customize the spice level to your liking, I enjoy spicy food and got the highest spice level, which hit the spot for me. The flavors were closest to what one may find in India, which is a win in my book! The food came out pretty quickly in about 10 minutes despite a long line of orders. They have a shaded setting area shared with the other food trucks in the lot and a porch area for bar-like seating. The service is friendly, with the person checking on us asking us what we thought about the food as well!

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place in Hanalei and I am SO impressed. This food was amazing. I thought about the Ono fish curry I ordered for days after eating this. So comforting and delicious. Also gluten free friendly!

Yelp
I really enjoy their food - it is delicious! It is very flavorful and the menu has a nice variety.

Yelp
This food was delicious! It had a perfect amount of spice and large servings of protein. would absolutely eat here again.

Vic R.

Yelp
Hands down, best Indian restaurant I've been to in awhile....best food truck by far...benches outside to sit and eat, but many take food to go Take cash or Venmo only

Yelp
Yay for the food trucks on Kaua'i. We have been sorely disappointed in the brick & mortar restaurants. We shared an order of Chicken Tiki Masala (mild) and it was DELISH! This had white meat whereas normally chicken thighs are used for this dish. Excellent flavor and tender chicken, served with white rice. We also tried the sweet naan and it was wonderful! I totally recommend this place.

Yelp
Grab your appetite and your cash (they have Venmo but do not accept CCs) and get over to Cafe Tumeric now! My dad and I shared the coconut veggie curry with regular naan and the Chana Palak with sweet naan (absolutely amazing!). We also got the mango lassi and guava nectar drinks. Everything and I mean everything was delicious! The line did get a bit long around 7p so hurry in early BUT it's only a 20 minute wait, so not a big deal. Nobody was battling to find seating since the other vendors were closed. Only the Brazilian place next door was open when we went (I'm not sure if this is the norm or not. Parking could potentially be hard because of the small lot. I would highly recommend the sweet naan bread - a dessert in itself. Sweetened by finely shredded coconut, honey and I believe I tasted cinnamon. The portion size was adequate, I left feeling satisfied. I think for the (island) price, it was fair and expected. About $18 dollars per plate plus the naan. The drinks were $8 each. That was a little shocking but they aren't allowed to serve water, so byow! ;) #protip Enjoy!

John J.

Yelp
Got the coconut curry. Was really good. Took it home. Pricey for what it was, but hey--land is expensive and the tariffs don't help.

Hunter N.

Yelp
A MUST EAT IF YOURE IN HANALEI!!!! This was truly ONO food, fast service, and such a fun local vibe! We honestly may come back.. even only being on a 4 day trip

Yelp
Were should i start? Nothing is bad, any time i go there! I think it is great especially the chicken tika masala; recommended it! Boy were they nice there and got my food out quickly and just amazing. The last part is the cute little truck they use; i love it.

Rachel M.

Yelp
Surprisingly delicious meal! We got shrimp curry and dal. Really quality meal that we all enjoyed!
google avatar

Manav K.

Yelp
Best fish curry I've had (been to goa), served hot and fast in 5 minutes. Worth every dollar.

Yelp
We drove 30 minutes north in the rain to taste this Indian master piece. We were not disappointed! The menu here does change from time to time, but the food options are always yummy and great for all types of eaters (even the vegans). We ordered: 1.) Fish curry with medium spiciness 2.) Saag Chana 3.) Naan Our order came with rice and everything was absolutely delicious. I recommend coming a little early or not during peak hours to avoid lines. But, the food truck chefs try to move everything along fast. All meals are made to order and you can watch as your meal is being prepared. Try not to drool! The prices here are on the higher side but you should be used to that if you are visiting Hawaii! Also, if you like fish, don't leave here without trying the fish curry. It tastes just like the Indian Goan fish curry my mom makes - very authentic!

Whitney H.

Yelp
We happened upon this place and it was absolutely delicious! The tikki masala was everything we hoped and the portions were generous! Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Love this place! We had the ono curry and ono vinndaloo but in a previous trip we tried the shrimp as well. It is all delicious! Mango lassi yessss. Very kind people, cute setup.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is phenomenal. The flavors are so rich and vibrant and you can really tell that a lot of TLC went into the food. I spoke to the chef briefly and he acknowledged that he does like to use local ingredients, which is always nice to hear. I came here two nights in a row, and had I stayed another night on the island I would've been back a third time.

Aparna N.

Yelp
We were surprised by how authentic(and delicious) the food turned out to be. The chicken tikka masala was not sweet, and perfectly spicy(I chose medium out of mild, medium and spicy). The naan was amazing! It was fluffy, soft, and cooked all the way through. The place was quite busy, so had to wait for ~25 mins but it was totally worth it! There are benches outside to sit and enjoy the food.
google avatar

Alex I.

Yelp
Incredible and authentic food. Got the coconut veg curry. Would eat here every night if I could!!
google avatar

Simpreet K.

Yelp
So we ended up at this food truck because of the rave reviews and also because this was the only Indian food we came across on the island so figured we would give it a try. The Coconut Shrimp Curry and the Chana Palak were really tasty. I have never had Chana Palak before and though I was skeptical, it made for a very wholesome dish. The Coconut Veg Curry though wasn't that great, it was a little tangy which was fun but somehow the texture and the flavor did not work out for me. Do check it out if you find yourself craving Indian food. You will need to grab water and drinks from the liquor store next door though.
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
2/3 of our group got the coconut curry and it was delicious! $20 for the plate I believe. It was a casual atmosphere, just sat and ate at the picnic table outside the truck.

Yelp
We got turned onto Cafe Turmeric by a few different YouTube vloggers, and while my initial thought was "really? Indian food in Hawaii?" -- it came up so many times we decided to check it out for lunch after a morning on the beach in Hanalei. We were VERY happy we did! Tucked just off the main road in a little food truck park, Turmeric is really more of an Indian-Hawaiian fusion. Our group got dishes such as an Ono Fish Vindaloo and a Garlic Shrimp Tikka Masala and a Sweet Naan. Everything we had was REALLY good and bursting with flavor, including the hibiscus lemonade we got to wash it down! It's definitely a bit pricey, but hey for something unique and local, I'm happy to make the spend on vacation.

Yelp
We came in off the Hanakapia trail looking for something to eat. Excited to see this Indian food truck. I ordered the Chicken Tiki Masala, spicy. It's not as spicy as some Indian restaurants but had good kick and a great flavor. The food was out quickly, which was appreciated. Naan was a little thick but still very good.

Yelp
Such a gem of an Indian food place in Kauai!! Absolutely loved the coconut shrimp curry which was doused in coconut milk and curry leaves. It had some vegetables too which was a nice twist! The Naan was very fresh and tasty! We also bought some food to-go which we can't wait to have! The chef here is incredibly talented! The young gentlemen at the counter who took our order was super kind and sweet. Looking forward to try out Cafe Turmeric on out next visit to Princeville!!

Crystal H.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic! Full of Indian flavor and spices. Took a star off because the person that took our order didn't seem happy to be there. But, I would go back regardless because the food is delicious!

Eric R.

Yelp
The food was delicious. I got the veggie coconut curry and the naan. The people who work there seemed really nice and there was a great vibe. Would definitely go back
google avatar

Jeneka S.

Yelp
This place is great! We got dinner here last night and my mom's Ono fish curry was the best! Dal, naan, chicken tikka masala all so good too. The service was so friendly and we had a great experience! You gotta check it out when in Hanalei!

Andrea S.

Yelp
Seriously good curry whatever you choose! We got the chickpeas, veg curry, shrimp vindaloo, ono curry- all is very good! I recommend medium spicy as the very spicy was uncomfortable next day...
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Some killer Indian food on the island. Coconut Shrip and Tiki masala were both incredible with good portions. Get it to go and enjoy down the road at Anini beach. We will be back!

Monica W.

Yelp
Hands down the best Indian food you will find on kauai, if not all of Hawaii. The food is consistently fresh, and good! Flavors on point, portions are good, fresh ingredients plus the mango Lassi is everything.

Surabhi B.

Yelp
Extremely amazing, loved the dal tadka, we have eaten here everyday during our stay and it's consistent and awesome. Food gets over early in the evening so try to plan in advance.

Subramanian S.

Yelp
Best Indian food in Kauai, hands down. Multiple Layers of flavour and they stay with you! They are a little pricey, but worth it.
google avatar

Pat L.

Yelp
This is a food truck so don't expect all the amenities. The Ono curry and Ono vindaloo were good. We like spice so we got the food medium hot. They do have some drinks but we chose to get beer from the liquor store right in front. Casual atmosphere and good food what more could you ask for.
google avatar

Todd S.

Yelp
Wonderful food and very friendly. Big portions will guarantee you're full. This place is a must visit for any vegetarian but they also have great meat options
google avatar

Leo G.

Yelp
I was looking for a gluten-free option on the north shore for lunch, and I was coming up empty for anything that wasn't a salad or a quinoa bowl. I came across Tumeric and I'm so glad I did! I had the Ono vindaloo and a mango lassi. I had been looking for somewhere to get Ono on the island that prepared the fish without a gluten based breading. The fish was perfect and the lassi was delightful. I would love to go back, but unfortunately didn't find this location until our last day on the north shore. I hope to get the chance to visit again.

Joy B.

Yelp
Was closed when we came here (was supposed to be open), but wanted to share a recent pic of the menu as I had trouble finding one.
google avatar

Raquel M.

Yelp
Coconut curry shrimp is super fresh, large portion and tasty. The hummus is REALLY good and honestly idk how that happens bc hummus can so often be so bland. We had some naan with avocado - good but I'd get hummus or sweet naan next time. The sweet naan was my fave - honey(?)/cinnamon & sugar. Went well WITH the heat of the curry but even better as dessert. Fun fact I just learned : they can't serve ice water due to proximity to the liquor store. Bummer, but I'd still come again and recommend it.
google avatar

Joe J.

Yelp
Said they were closed on Sunday on Yelp but they were open. Very tasty veggie curry. We also had a bam bread with avocado and micro greens. All was great. Nice service and excellent vibe !
google avatar

Nina P.

Yelp
Very good Indian food. The options are fish/shrimp, and vegetarian curries. Chana and dal were excellent as was the fish curry. The Chana was one of the better ones I have ever had. Definitely worth a stop!

Melissa B.

Yelp
We had dinner here and it was DELICIOUS! We had the coconut shrimp curry, Ono curry and Vegetable curry... and naan! It was all SO AMAZING! Will definitely return here next time we're on the island and pass the word on to our traveling friends. So good!
google avatar

Rahul D.

Yelp
Great food. We tried the chole palak with rice! The naan was great as well. Didn't have to wait long for the food.

James B.

Yelp
Legit outstanding Indian food. All fresh ingredients including fresh coconut and curry. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Niv B.

Yelp
Easily the best Indian food on the Island and we came from Maui before Kauai, so we feel confident saying that this was the best Indian food on both islands. Coming from an Indian who has high standards for Indian food, you can trust me on this! I ordered the Vegetable Coconut Curry spicy and my husband ordered the Shrimp Vindaloo medium spicy; both were with sides of rice. We felt that even though it was a bit pricey (I feel like that's most of the food options on the Hawaiian Islands), the portions were extremely generous. Both curries were so delicious that we had clean plates at the end. For the reviewer from a few months ago, who gave a 3-star review due to the veg coconut curry dish not tasting "authentic," I would probably say that Indian cuisine varies vastly from region to region. Even as an Indian it is hard to have sampled all the various cuisines India has to offer. However, after talking to the owner, who shared he was from Calcutta, India with a base in Goa, it's easy to see how that has influenced his food. Southern Indian food is also has several coconut based dishes. Chicken tikka Masala and the stereotypical Indian food found in Indian restaurants do not define the entire country's authentic cuisine as a whole. Highly highly recommend Cafe Turmeric to anyone who finds themselves in Hanalei!
google avatar

Shristy A.

Yelp
Vegan/veg reviewer: We ordered Chana Palak and jaal frezi. Jaal frezi was better than Chana Palak for us, coz we do not like sweetness in our curries. The coconut flavor in Chana Palak made it a tad bit sweet for us. Well, the food was good in quantity and nicely made. If you love Indian food and you're hungry after the hike you'll enjoy it! I am reducing one star coz we felt it could have been a little cheaper.
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
This place was great. It's a food truck and Youn eat on a paper plate on a picnic bench so I can't give it 5 stars but it is 5 star food on that paper plate. Really good Everything comes with rice . Liquor store around the corner so you get whatever drink you want. Love
google avatar

Anthony G.

Yelp
For the value and the quality of the food and service, this was probably our best overall meal of the trip. This is a food truck. They were super friendly and very attentive. To top it off, the food was fantastic. Everyone got a some type of variation of a curry dish. We also ordered regular naan and the sweet naan. The sweet naan had a very similar taste to Baaklava. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Oleg K.

Yelp
Can't believe how good this food was. The gentlemen working at the truck asked every single person how their food was as he was taking orders. The service and how good the food was is next level. We don't normally go to the same food place twice in vacation but we will definitely be eating here again.
