Cafe Wakakusa

the crepes here are delicious! I got the chocolate & berry & banana, the fruit sauce was not too sweet. my husband got the ham & cheese with the salad, the dressing was very light but full of flavor. we also got 2 matcha lattes that were good, not super sweet like back in the US. also when we were about to leave the owner let us know about an event happening today (Mt. Wakakusa Yamayaki) that only happens once a year! we followed his recommendation and it made our whole day better. definitely coming back to eat here the next time we're around and will recommend this place to friends that live in Osaka!! :)

We had an amazing experience at Cafe Wakakusa! The crepe with egg, avocado, and greens was a delightful surprise—fresh and flavorful. We also ordered the red bean crepe topped with matcha ice cream, and it was absolutely delicious. The owner was upfront about the wait since he runs the café alone, but it was worth every minute. Cozy atmosphere, great food, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended!

Best coffee we’ve had all holiday in Japan. We had 3 different sweet crepes which were all delicious. The owner was very thoughtful and gave us recommendations for our visit in Nara.

The food was delicious & service was excellent for being a one man show! Although he was closed , he was kind enough to serve us.

We saw very good reviews about the cafe so we decided to give it a try since we reached Nara early. Walked in at 8.40am, the cafe looked empty except for one couple downstairs. The guy manning the cafe completely ignored us when we walked in - unlike other shops whereby the Japanese will greet with the moment you enter. When we wanted to go upstairs for seating, he walked out from his counter immediately and started ranting about his poor and unhappy working conditions - he was one person manning the whole shop, upstairs was CLOSED, he cannot manage upstairs too, there was another couple waiting for their food (yes, ONE). He acted agitated and was gesticulating about us having to wait for the food of the couple to be done before he can start to work on ours. He was irritated and rude throughout the whole interaction, and we saw others getting chased out too. What a way to start the day.

Our family ordered the pizza crepe, ham and egg crepe, cinnamon banana crepe w/matcha ice cream, iced matcha lattes, and the Japanese matcha parfait. All of the items were very delicious and reasonably priced. Covid took a toll on Hiro's cafe and he's still trying to recover. Please come and support this wonderful small business.

Went during off season for Nara. Talked to owner (perfect English from his year spent in the US) as he prepared my meal. Great care taken for the crepes and coffee. He had wonderful recommendations that most tourist would not have flocked to. The majority of Nara's economy is base on tourism alone, so this western-flare cafe fits the bill, but the crepes can not be beat!

Awesome crepes! The owner was so nice and conversed in English very well. I also loved how the cafe was decorated - so cool to see all the visitor notes on the wall. I got the mushroom and cheese crepe with a strawberry latte. The dish was so tasty and I liked how there was a little salad on top too. The crepe even alone had great flavor - a nice thin and soft texture. The latte was good but not what I was expecting - I'm not sure if there was any coffee in it because it mostly tasted like really good strawberry milk. Overall a great spot for tourists if you're craving some non-Japanese fare!

Adorable little cafe by the Kintetsu-Nara station on the way to Nara Park. Quiet, relaxing atmosphere and makes a bomb latte. Their latte art is the prettiest I've seen yet, and as a hardly-ever coffee drinker, I only drink lattes with cute art in SF. But here, the drink is good AND the art is beautiful.

Amazing cafe with crepes that satisfied our difficult to please group. Everything very fresh and high in quality, made to order. The owner speaks English, was very friendly and happily shared places to visit and restaurants to try in Nara along with some local customs.

Came on a Monday evening. Small, cute place with no wait. The woman working was extremely nice. They had English in the menu. We ordered two sweet crepes - both were amazing and the fresh fruit was really good. Also had two fruit sodas which were also really good. Really nice place to have a quiet bite to eat after checking out Nara.

Great lunch deal of soup, salad, crepe and mini dessert for 1000 yen. Really friendly staff too. The crepe wasn't the best ever, but made fresh and still really tasty! I would recommend.
