Café Weimar

I absolutely loved this place!!! The food was excellent and the atmosphere cozy, but what truly made the experience unforgettable was the staff. Servers, 2 gentlemen, were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and polite — you could really feel they cared about making guests comfortable. Thanks to them, the whole evening felt special. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Classic Viennese place that is usually full of the third generation. Nonetheless classy, good service and good food. We took a table for two people around 2 pm on Wednesday, 21st January without reservation. We just got in and sat at a table with benches. At the beginning it seemed a bit loud, but due to the cushion of the benches it didn´t feel loud once we were seated and it felt cozy. We had each one Frittatensuppe which cost almost as much as a tea. The soup was a big portion, with lots of "Fritaten" in it (slices of pancakes), salty and hot, perfect for these extremely cold days and it was a good deal for the buck. I didn´t intend to take dessert but I saw something looking very appetizing at a different table and I had to have it. I asked the waiter what it was and I ordered it. It was a delicious Topfenstrudel, warm and served with a lot of Vaniliensauce. Huge portion and delicious. They also have a daily lunch menu. This whole time I was admiring the huge chandeliers hanging from the high ceilings: A true classic, traditional and classy Viennese institution.

A very beautiful restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. The food is delicious and nicely presented. Excellent service — fast, friendly, and attentive. Definitely a place I’d love to come back to!

Great experience. Very local place, not touristic. The staff was super nice, the cakes looked amazing and the environment is very cozy. We had cheeseburgers for dinner and they were fine. Not the cheapest place for such dishes, but overall experience was fine. And great forcoffee and cake culture. On a Monday afternoon/evening was totally full, so I recommend reserving. Will definitely come back.

Even though they were fully booked, they made space for me because I just wanted to try out their lemon pie. Can highly recommend. Cozy atmosphere, and finally some kind German service, not easily found in Vienna. They Lemon Pie and the raspberry cheesecake looks amazing - will be back again during my visit here🤩

Classic Viennese restaurant with a diverse menu and very good pastry selections. May be the best place to stop for a bit or meal before going to the Volksoper. The gulasch was excellent. The sausage and fries only so-so. The cakes looked great but the one I wanted was gone before I was ready for dessert 😢just means I’ll have to back back for that blueberry streusel cake.

We came here on Sunday morning, luckily we reserved a table beforehand. Food was nice, bagel was not too soft, the perfect cooked boiled egg was an additional delight. The waiter had a good sense of humor especially when he worked under high demand from customers.

This was a find. Recommended by hotel staff. Great food, large portions, reasonable prices. We tried the Tafelspitz, real (veal) Wiener Schnitzel, Chicken schnitzel, and sauerkraut. All really good. Desserts were nice too and a good selection from tortes to Kuchen to strudel. Very pleasant atmosphere.

Cafe Weimar has long (more than 100 years) opened its doors on the Währingerstraße from morning till late in the evening. But this past year it has been taken over by the family who owns Cafe Diglas in the old quarter of Vienna. They have done a good job - keeping what is traditional here - e.g. the live piano music at cocktail hour - while brightening the décor and bringing in a more relaxed serving staff. Of course Weimar is a pleasing stop when the piano is being expertly played .... but there is another time when I (and many others) turn to Cafe Weimar. That is after a performance at the nearby Volksoper. They have a late-night menu which is perfect for a post-opera treat and chat with friends. After a recent performance of the musical 'Cabaret' at the Volksoper, I enjoyed a tasty Frittatensuppe followed by a Schinkenkäse Toast (grilled ham & cheese for non-Austrians). It was just right!

My family and I really enjoyed this restaurant and would highly recommend it! We're traveling through Vienna (from the US) for a short time and wanted to try some Austrian food. They had an English menu, tons of great options, and very fast & efficient service. All the wait staff were very nice and helped us navigate the local dishes. I'm the lone vegetarian (in a family of carnivores) and I found several delicious options--I went with the Eiernockerl which was great! My family enjoyed all their meat dishes as well. Excellent food and fast, gracious service.

Ate here twice on our trip in 2012. Great food and service was not bad. Cold beer!! Awesome hot tea too. Loved our time in Vienna and can't wait to go back. Vienna in general was a smidge on the expensive side (compared to Prague, where we also visited that trip) but I certainly do love the city and plan to go back soon. Get some Schnitzel!!

Traditional, typical Viennese coffee house (with the service to match!) These coffee houses all look the same inside; the decor looks like it hasn't been touched since they were built which was probably when Franz Josef was still Emperor and they are never warm, cosy and welcoming. So I really don't understand the fascination with them to be honest. Anyway, Weimar gets 4 stars because the food was really good. The menu is great, some really good choices of some Viennese/Austrian classics. Quite pricey though. Smoking and non smoking sections (although they are not separated by a door...so if your table borders the smoking section I doubt your experience will be very enjoyable!)

Very Austrian, and beautiful surroundings. The food was good and authentic (I think). Had the bacon-wrapped cheese-infused sausage... yum! Only drawback was the waiter was a bit... per-snickety, I think because I spoke English. On the other hand, I think that lended the joint only more authenticity.

A nice place to drop in after Theatre or visit to AKH. We dropped in after AKH, lovely coffee and cake selection my wife had a lovely breakfast

Used to be a great place for breakfast, some Austrian snacks/food etc... Since the owner was caught embezzling 250.000 EUR from a charity Organisation, things are going down. Mediocre food quality and bad service. The waiter seems not to have changed his tuxedo for weeks and smells like a homeless guy ... disgusting ... and sad

a very typical and traditional "Kaffeehaus". It's located near the Volksoper and therefore pretty crowded in the evenings. People come to enjoy a coffee, delicius cakes (Mozarttorte) or just for reading newspapers but also warm dishes are served.

This restaurant is looping beautiful, they are flyering at The entrance of The volksoper, but there is where the good things stopped. We came in with a family at 9pm it took us 10 minutes before we were attended, then it took them 15 minutes to bring the drinks and when we ordered 3 Wiener schnitzel (not something really unknown in Vienna and very easy to cook) it took them 45+ minutes to serve. Stupid waiters as well, because when we appealed they did as if they where from 'Barcelona'. Go to some of the other restaurants nearby, because this restaurant is spoiling your evening

Extremely rude service. The sign at the entrance says to seat yourself at any table without a reserved sign. While I was eating, the waiter dropped a reserved sign on my table with a time written on it. I asked him what that was for and he said I had to move because a customer just made a reservation for that table at 9:30. The place was virtually empty so I was puzzled why I had to move. Couldn't he sit at another table? They said he wants that table. I tried complaining to the manager but they didn't give a damn. Apparently this was one of their favorite customers.
