BEWARE DISHONEST PRICING. Unfortunately, the manager tried to scam us. We ordered (and enjoyed!) iced coffees and baked goods. I saw they sold coffee beans. I asked how much for a bag and the waitress checked with the manager, who replied C$230. So we said okay, give us a bag. They are ~ 1 lb bags on display, so even though we were told "almost 1 kg" for the weight, I felt confident I was fine with the price and knew the weight was much less. Asked for the bill after enjoying our coffees and the waitress and manager confer at the screen for 5 whole minutes--bad sign. There is no need to discuss the prices if they are already set in the POS system, right? The bill arrives and the coffee beans are listed as $300 (400g). I expected under 500 g for the weight but I asked what happened to $230? The manager gaslights me, saying he told me $430 is the price. So how did he get $300? No explanation. I was not rude, but politely said I no longer wanted the coffee and please remove it from my bill. They did. I also pointed out my mocha frappé was $70 on the menu I ordered from, not $90 as listed on my bill. Manager said the price is listed wrong on that menu. I said, "Then you shouldnt give the menu with false prices to the customers, right?" And he agreed. It was an uncomfortable conversation for all of us. I paid my extra $20 and left. I did leave a tip because I was unsure if the waitress was involved in the scam or just following directions. I will never understand why a business engages in dishonest pricing for an extra $20 or $70 when the bad reputation can negatively affect all their future income. I speak fluent Spanish so I was able to communicate directly about the inflated pricing, but tourists cannot expect an honest bill. I would avoid their next door restaurant as well, which was dead empty all afternoon. What a shame for this pretty spot. (See my photos for the different prices listed on each menu for my mocha frappe.)
