The coffee was good, and the barista is great at latte art. They seemed very professional. The croissant was nicely warmed up, and the sandwich was generous in size—perfect for sharing between two people. The staff were extremely busy but very focused and worked hard. Every employee had a great service mindset.

The one cafe you should go this summer should be Cafe 23! It is so peaceful and relaxing to have their tasty Strawberry Matcha Latte and sit for an hour or two or enjoy conversations with your friends. It's spacious it's unique it has a big tree and a patio itself. Loved spending time there and will be my go to cafe now!!!

Google
Went on a date with my partner in the fall to this Cafe with our trusty loaf at our side since they are pet friendly! The ambiance was great and the place was so cozy. Had some lattes, sandwiches and pastries on the patio which is upstairs in the back. The area was so cute and made for an adorable selfie with my partner and our doggo. The lattes were great! The pistachio pastry was to die for. The sandwiches were decent. Gets a bit busy, so I recommend you check peak times and avoid those!

Google
One of the best matcha lattes I’ve had in Toronto and such a beautiful and relaxing place to hang out! The music, books and vibes inside are so chill and it’s even better outside on the two story backyard patio! The backyard patio smells so good to because it’s surrounded by rosemary, lavender and mint! Can’t wait to come back! This is now one of my favourite cafes

Sally N

Google
Beautifully decorated cafe!! There is tons of seating too, and a patio out back. Got the cold brew - it was nice and strong and I really enjoyed the flavour of the roast. This cafe is also dog-friendly 😍

Good food and coffee in a nice environment. Love the vintage style. The rooftop is perfect. Staff are professional even in busy environments 👍 Chocolate croissant worth a try

Google
This is my favorite café, the vibe is unique, and the coffee is so good. I have really good memories here. I came here for the first time a little more than 3 years ago with my dog and a man whom I had met 2 weeks ago at that moment (who today is my fiancé). So, I loved this place.

Google
10/10! Seriously swoon-worthy decor inside, but the real magic happens in their backyard oasis. And the coffee? Forget your usual drip – they're slinging some seriously delicious and interesting concoctions. Prepare for a caffeine adventure in a pretty package! ✨☕🌿

Yelp
Cafe23 has the cutest patio! It was a bit crowded on a weekend but I didn't wait too long for a seat. Food and drinks were okay.

Doris L.

Yelp
I guess I would come back for the back patio and that's it? My Americano was $4.50 + tax It's a lighter roast than I'm used to (closer to a NEO, I prefer the darker ones like SUD, Manic, Pilot, etc) probably won't come back for coffee. cinnamon roll $7.5+ tax, the most I've ever paid for ever in NYC, SF or here .... This is a dense dough, is it a sourdough? It's a good one if you prefer dense ones. I did enjoy this. Not too sweet like some other ones out there. Looking at the croissant I'm just not interested. I rather go to Emmer, Larry's for croissant. You can tell it's not the good butter in the dough. The communal table vibe at noon today were all brunettes mostly with dark rimmed plastic glasses and their laptop. Don't think they were one study group, they just look all similar and mostly long hair.

Yelp
If you want to escape the urbane landscape of Toronto and sip amazing coffee amongst cute little sparrows, this is the cafe to go to. We felt like we were in a remote garden drinking our worries away. The ambience was so beautiful, clean and chic. The service was a bit slow though, given the rush and the big line waiting outside. We were still able to find a table and had cute little sparrows chirping and waiting for us to drop food crumbs. The garden upstairs is especially very beautiful. They even have a makeshift swing to add to the aesthetic. We ordered a Cortado, a vanilla latte and a pistachio croissant. The croissant was out of this world. It came filled with pistachio cream and topped with white chocolate and pistachio chocolate. Soooo good! I would totally visit this place the next time I am in Toronto.

Leanne R.

Yelp
I have gone there a couple times and I can't wait to go back. It's really nice to feel a sense of escapism. The decor and the magical garden at the back are both beautiful and inspiring. The customer service has been top notch, very warm and attentive. Love the sweet treats and it's always so adorable when the sparrows come around to pick up crumbs. It's a soulful place.

Francie M.

Yelp
If this cafe was a person it would be that effortlessly cool and stylish friend that hosts dinner parties in their maximalist artsy loft with artisinal coffee and bread. Decor? Instagram worthy. Seasonal coffee flavors? Unique and actually flavorful. Garden two tiered back patio? Novel worthy. Shoutout to the lavender, honey, and smoked rosemary latte- best seasonal coffee flavor I've had it ages - get it hot. The cardamom rose was a great runner up with actually bold spice. (I went here twice in one day). The food I ordered - bagel with nut butter and frittata sandwich - was only ok, so focus on the coffee here. Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating (in the back) - limited street parking nearby but transit accessible

Eileen L.

Yelp
Definitely one of the more aesthetic cafes in the city. There are lots of plants, candles and vintage artwork and decorations. There is a no laptop policy on weekends in the front room which is a nice touch. Unfortunately the coffee and the baked goods are more expensive than most of the other cafes I've been to. They have a pretty good selection of pastries and bagels as well as decaf versions of all their coffee drinks. Wi-Fi is a little bit spotty and there is no service on the upstairs patio. The cafe can get extremely busy on weekends. There is only one washroom on the ground floor. Lots of opportunities to take nice photos here but I wouldn't work here unless it's a quieter weekday.

Danielle S.

Yelp
This is a lovely cafe with great ambiance and decor and a special back garden patio. I visited on a hot day and the inside of the cafe wasn't much cooler than the outdoors due to the garden patio being open, so if you're looking for a place to relax in central air, this isn't it. However, there is plenty of seating (broken into two rooms), plus the back patio. It's very beautiful and "Instagram-worthy." I visited on a Saturday, and no laptops/working are allowed in the front room or patio on the weekends, but you can work at a larger table in the second room. I had an iced Vietnamese coffee and danish with fresh fruit. Both were delicious. The flavors on the danish were so pronounced. The Viet coffee could have been stronger, but overall it tasted authentic. Service was great and I could see this being a fun place to meet up with friends to relax.

Cindy D.

Yelp
One of my favourite café in this city, especially during the summer/fall season. The garden in the backyard is gorgeous. The service is always on point anf the coffee as well as the snacks are always tasty and fresh. The cherry on the cake for me is the artsy vibe to that place with all the different pieces of art that you will find inside.

Ritwika B.

Yelp
This is a must visit cafe downtown located on the strip of Queen street west. I love their new coffee flavours and recently tried the rosemary lavender iced coffee and the butterscotch iced coffee and both were so good! Their backyard patio is always so busy but if you're here, you must sit outside to enjoy the true essence of this place.

Reston S.

Yelp
Visited Cafe23 based on a friend's recommendation and it didn't disappoint. The cozy, antique-inspired interior sets the mood, while the backyard patio promises a great experience. Service was excellent, and we enjoyed a variety of treats like cinnamon rolls, chocolate crookies, and matcha lattes. Overall, a delightful spot in West Toronto.

Yelp
Cafe 3/50 - Cafe23 Looking for a cafe that serves fab coffee with gorgeous interiors & the dreamiest patio - then you HAVE to visit Cafe23! Let me just start by saying that Cafe23 has my heart. Lavender Rosemary Iced Latte! 100/100. Super unique flavours but yet so yummy, still dreaming about this drink as I pen down my review. You have to visit this place to experience this cafe yourself! Last but not the least, I would like to thank me for visiting this gem of a place & starting a series of sharing the "Best Cafes Toronto has to Offer!"

Komal R.

Yelp
One of the prettiest cafes I have been to. The indoor is beautiful decorated with artistic pieces and ornate mirrors but the outdoor patio area beats it by a mile! There are huge rattan lanterns and a cute swing hanging from a giant tree, plants everywhere, so many birds especially in the morning. Go early to skip the long lines and have the patio to yourself. Got the mocha which was good, the savory scones were not warm enough.

Mahoosive M.

Yelp
I always HAVE to come here when I visit Toronto. The staff are kind and knowledgeable about their products and also give the best recommendations. They switch up their seasonal menu to mix things up with the seasons and they nail it every time. My favourite fall/winter drink was their log cabin latte and I've tried to recreate it at home, but they do it best. The ambiance is one of the coolest I've ever seen in a cafe and their outdoor patio is stunning! I love to be surrounded by plants and they have a little swing for when you want to be an Instagram baddie. I will always recommend this place and all my friends who have tagged along with me say it's one of the best cafes they've been to. Cheers Cafe23

Rea H.

Yelp
The atmosphere was very nice here, very busy place and I loved the vibe of the cafe. But it's also the only reason it's getting a high review. Coffee was mediocre at best and the bagel I ordered was so small, as you can see the hole was bigger than the bagel . I would return here for the vibes but probably won't order a coffee next time.

Madison P.

Yelp
I visited Cafe23 yesterday with a friend and it was overall a great experience! They have some unique menu items such as an orange espresso tonic, white chocolate matcha and strawberry matcha. I ordered the strawberry matcha and it was refreshing! The matcha was about $9 after tax and tip so it was a bit on the expensive end. The staff was very friendly and their patio in the back was a great place to sit and chat. The patio has a lush garden feeling to it - it doesn't feel like you're in the city when you are sitting there! Would definitely pop in again if next time I'm in the area.

Yoland E.

Yelp
This is an adorable cafe in Trinity Bellwoods offering a range of delicious hot and cold cafe drinks, including the interesting Iced Orange Espresso Tonic which I got to try! They also have a lot of artist inspired decor and puzzles, including a Yayoi Kusama puzzle which I attempted to do.

Vicky C.

Yelp
4.5 STARS Adorable coffeeshop with a patio and charm! They have a variety of different types of seating options including a long table for people who want to get some work done. Tried a latte and I saw that they do seasonal drinks which is nice. Had a raspberry scone and it was ONE OF THE BEST I've ever had because it was not dry-- yayy! Pricing is pretty average but I felt that the alternative milk prices were a bit high... so -0.5 stars for that

Abby K.

Yelp
So pretty inside, super welcoming, friendly baristas. You can sit inside at cute little tables or couches and have your food brought to you. They have smoothies, bagels, pasteries, coffees of all sorts. I will say it's fairly pricey and the wait time is long as it's always usually busy. Nonetheless a great cafe! My bagel and smoothie were delish‼

Ada L.

Yelp
Cafe 23 located along Queen St. W. serves great coffee and has a super cute backyard patio to enjoy your purchased items. I've been here several times where the staff are consistently friendly and the coffee is made well. It can get quite busy on the weekends where there might be a bit of a wait to order and receive your drink. The backyard patio is definitely a popular spot as it transports you to lush, garden filled oasis where you can escape the hustle and bustle of Queen St. Overall, great coffee and staff. Will return if I'm in the area!

Dalia E.

Yelp
This is probably my favourite coffee shop in Toronto. The coffee and pastries are so delicious, and they have so many cool things on their menu. We tried the pistachio maple latte and the orange blossom latte from their summer drink menu, and they did not disappoint. They also had so many more cool drinks on their seasonal menu, which I will have to try when I'm in the city again. I definitely recommend trying the pain au chocolat and the cinnamon bun because they are one of the best I've ever tried.

Layla A.

Yelp
The fact that they have seasonal drinks including Rose, lavender, and a whole bunch of other drinks I can't remember off the top of my head is phenomenal. My friends and I came here to sample some of their drinks and also because coffee is everything. I got the lavender white mocha and I regret nothing. Smooth and rich and definitely be able to taste the lavender without it being strong. There's quite a number is sitting spaces and if you're a social butterfly, this is probably the place for you. They have a no computer/laptop sorta rule which is nice for those looking to mix and mingle with others.

Anna V.

Yelp
Fast and pleasant service There are tables indoors, and a very nice courtyard with an additional floor And very good coffee I will definitely come back here for breakfast

Victor P.

Yelp
It is so goddamn crowded in here you can barely fit 4 people in a line. I don't think anyone thought out the whole ordering process The coffee is really poor as well, one of those bitter poorly made roasts. The patio is cool though, lots of space out the in the summer

Carmen G.

Yelp
Came here for a quick coffee and boy was it HOT! And I mean temperature hot inside the cafe. There's no AC, and with the hot summer it was a little dreadful in there. The line was long on a weekend afternoon and didn't move quickly unfortunately. However, the coffee - was soo good! I had my regular vanilla soy latte and it was the perfect sweetness, smooth and so delicious. It could have used a little more ice though to make it colder. The main reason I came to this cafe was for the cute backyard patio they have. Lots of greenery and is two stories. However, being such a popular spot on a weekend, there were no options for a table outside. Lots of table space inside was available though. I'd be back, probably for another take out coffee. Perhaps try to enjoy the cute backyard patio on a weekday when they're not as busy.

Aditi M.

Yelp
I highly recommend this cute spot in the city - be it a date, a catch-up with a friend or colleague, you'll find yourself admiring the coffee flavors this place serves and the ambiance it has. They also have a patio in the back with two floor seating - both are gorgeous during summertime. I ordered the iced raspberry mocha and it was delicious - extremely refreshing with a beautiful hint of raspberry in the coffee. The rose iced cappuccino my friend ordered was delicious as well - I loved the subtle flavors of fruits infused with the coffee flavor - it makes it unique and wanna go back to. I wish it was something I could pack and take home and enjoy every single day.

Aleyda B.

Yelp
Cafe 23 is a refreshing gem on Toronto's West End, a secret garden-like tucked away oasis that offers great coffee and pastries. I am a big fan of their butter tarts, oatmeal, sandwiches and iced Americanos. The baristas are knowledgeable and friendly, the atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. I absolutely love stopping by for coffee or organizing a meet up with friends there! Very enjoyable spot.

Jiaqi Z.

Yelp
One of the best cafe I have ever been to. They have two floors of patio outside with Japanese maple tree and bunch of other really nice plants. There are birds near your feet and entire vibe of the cafe are so nice. A lot of good looking young people here great place for a date

Riley D.

Yelp
A little bit of a self admitted mocha snob here, and this place delivers a good one. Defintley worth it would go again.

CC W.

Yelp
Really nice coffee shop with garden courtyard on two levels makes for a tranquil spot to relax over coffee. Great pastries: butter tarts, cinnamon rolls, almond croissants, biscotti, brownies, etc. Strict policy of no laptops on weekends is enforced.

Courtney C.

Yelp
I've been on a latte/coffee shop hunt lately and heard a lot of hype around this shop. Decided to give it a shot and I was not disappointed! I got their latte, a matcha latte and a butter tart. Their latte was tasty and the latte art was on point too. But I actually think the butter tart stole the star of the show! It was so buttery and yummy. The sweetness of the tart paired perfectly with my latte. Too bad the patio wasn't open when I went, will definitely need to go back to check out their patio and to get more of those yummy butter tarts! I highly recommend this place!

Hannah M.

Yelp
This must be one of the cutest and coziest cafes in Toronto! I find that a lot of cafes in DT Toronto tend to feel really modern and sleek, which is totally fine. But I think what sets Cafe 23 apart from other cafes in Toronto is the decor--I absolutely love how warm and inviting the atmosphere of the store is. I truly feel like I'm able to relax and feel at ease here while drinking delicious coffee! I tried the Iced Lavender Vanilla Latte, which is one of their seasonal drinks. I generally love floral flavors so this was AMAZING!!! The espresso itself is carefully brewed and tastes really rich and smooth. I'd say the only downside was that it's on the pricier side, however I think it's 1000% worth it, especially if you also take advantage of the pretty garden patio, which has upstairs patio portion as well! I can't wait to come back here, I'll be recommending it to everyone I know :)

Lily M.

Yelp
Cute and cozy ambience. Went there to study midday weekday and was busy but there was space indoors. Outdoor patio was packed and lots of people with tables close to each other. Outlets didn't work :( Pistachio croissant was alright.

Annaliese K.

Yelp
What a cute little place! Found this cafe when i was walking past queen street and realized there was a garden patio in behind it. Simply such a great surprise. Food: Ordered a bagel and black coffee. Simple but it tasted good. It wasn't anything special but i liked the simplicity of it and it cured my hunger and tasted good. The highlight of my visit was definitely the garden patio in the back. As you go through the cafe, it leads you up a flight of stairs that brings you towards the outdoors patio. It is extremely cute with seatings underneath the tree, next to plants, you name it. It's definitely something different and unique from anything I've seen in Toronto. What a great little place to study or read a book to escape the busy busy world. Customer service: The baristas were super nice and energetic and i love the vibe they give off. Overall: Would definitely come again and try their matcha drinks and butter tarts!

Tom L.

Yelp
This place is easily a 5 star spot if it weren't for the rude service of one staff/barista. Let's just get that out of the way. She was visibly annoyed that we weren't ready to order immediately and that we asked to see what the cup sizes looked like since they were not displayed. It was early in the morning on a beautiful sunny day and there were no customers waiting behind, so I can not understand her reason for being annoyed and rude. That being said, the coffee and atmosphere is incredible. Really good cold brew and hot brew. The butter tart was on excellent. Caramelly filling inside a flaky crust. The real gem of this cafe is its back patio, which has 2 levels. It's very spacious and decorated with plants, mirrors, interesting furniture, and other random things. Despite the poor experience with the staff member, we will likely be back to hang out, which is saying a lot. Maybe she was having a bad day? Maybe she knows how good the cafe is and thinks she can afford to be impolite? Who knows..

Katie T.

Yelp
I love that you can get a vegan biscotti and cardamom-infused chai latte AND a new houseplant in one stop here! They also sell great coffee (according to my partner) in very artistic packaging. There is always a lineup on the weekend!

Alethea Y.

Yelp
Café 23 is a great cozy spot to chat with friends or study. They have a wide selection of drinks, baked goods, and food items to choose from. We got the iced matcha latte with vanilla and oat milk, oat milk latte, and a cinnamon bun. There's a decent amount of seating but it does get packed here so be early if planning to meet up or study. The decorations are lovely and give off that aesthetic old feel. The staff is also super friendly!! Cinnamon bun was DELICIOUS. The cashier offered to warm it up for us and that was the best decision ever! The bun was soft and the cream cheese frosting wasn't overly sweet. My iced matcha latte with vanilla didn't have any bitterness or graininess to it. The size was pretty small for the price paid but I still enjoyed it. Overall, I would come back here and try out new things!

Sanger Y.

Yelp
Cafe 23 is a very cozy cafe on Queen West, just a few blocks east of Trinity Bellwoods Park. The menu has all of the standard fare, as well as a decent selection of baked goods if you want to pair your coffee with something sweet. From the multiple cold brews that I've had, it's very good! Cold brew isn't something you can easily screw up, but I'm just going to assume that the rest of their coffee menu is executed equally well. Where Cafe 23 really stands out is in its incredible outdoor patio. Located at the rear of the cafe is a very quaint and inviting outdoor space. There's ample seating (there's an upstairs portion to the patio that's easy to miss!) and plenty of tables in case you want to get your work done. The patio space is so nice that I was inundated with younger folks being loud with their Instagram photoshoot, but that can't be helped. In the warmer days of spring and summer, I'll be coming here quite often. By "quite often", I mean like twice a week to get some work done in some nice surroundings.

Maria B.

Yelp
Super cute place to get coffee, love the garden patio!! The coffee was great, and their sweets, like their cookies and butter tart were amazing!

Bristol B.

Yelp
amazing espresso and croissants. Definetly recommend. Not overpriced either.

Swaran S.

Yelp
I love cafe 23. Awesome coffee, food and the atmosphere is awesome. Also excellent services.

Tina H.

Yelp
Delicious coffee and really friendly staff. Love the illustration art on the cups, made by one of the staff. They sell and use De Mello Palheta beans, which are the new, tasty hotness in Toronto (and for good reason). A nice space indoors and out.

R J.

Yelp
Extremely rude and terrible service. Followed us a block down the street to harrass our group over our concerns over the wait time. Definite avoid

Layla Z.

Yelp
The lavender matcha latte slaps!!!

Holly W.

Yelp
I hate leaving a bad review since I have had good experiences here before, but recently the customer service has been horrid. I guess it's my fault for ordering bagels, but it took 20 minutes for the employees to make them. It took five minutes after my order before the bagels were put into toaster, another ten minutes of staring at the finished bagels sitting there before I finally asked about them, and then they finally took the liberty to spend another five minutes applying the cream cheese. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because they were really busy inside, but one employee was occupied toasting marshmallows for an order far behind mine. $8 bagels -- I've had better service in New York for the price. 10/10 for decor though.

Charlotte S.

Yelp
Adorable! All the plants and art give it a great vibe. Went here with my boyfriend for some coffee and food, and sat on the upstairs patio. After the coffee, we ended up ordering some tea since we wanted to stay even longer! Great spot for a date or hanging out with friends, we'll definitely be coming back

Daniel R.

Yelp
The drinks are fine, but the place is overhyped, constantly packed with people wanting to post on Instagram, there is no AC and the staff are quite rude. Ruder than I've ever experienced here and extremely unprofessional. The roasted nut is a better option if all you're hoping to do is get a cold drink on a hot day.

Ying W.

Yelp
Ample seating, good coffee, and good service. Not the best sound-proofing -- it can get quite loud if you are trying to hold a conversation while the space is busy.

Salisha S.

Yelp
Love love LOVE this cafe! It's such a pleasant atmosphere, I love the fact there's two communal work tables and some tucked away. I enjoy going here to get some work done over a tea latte (made with Sloane tea so it's obviously delicious) and a tasty croissant. The staff has never been anything but pleasant and helpful and it's my definite go to as far as cafes near me. :)

O G.

Yelp
Great coffee, tea and vibe. Super friendly staff, my new favorite spot :D
