I used to love this place. Every visit to CDMX I made sure to stop by, browse the bookstore, and grab dinner and a drink. Granted, that was pre pandemic. My most recent visit was nothing like those I had before. The food was bad, the service was slow, and there is nothing that resembles the great service we had during those past visits.
My partner and I decided to meet a friend there, we arrived about 15 minutes early to browse the menu and order some drinks. I told the server that we were meeting a friend and that we would order food then, and she felt the need to tell us that we must order food because the rule is that if you order a cocktail we need to also order food. I repeated that yes, we would be ordering food once my friend arrived.
Once my friend arrived we order more drinks and food, and let me tell you, no one liked the food at all. My sandwich (a turkey sandwich) was tasteless and chewy, and the only reason I ate half of it is because I was hungry. My partner's mojito was super sweet and tasted like syrup. It was so bad, that although at that moment there was a happy hour (2 for 1), he decided he didn't the second one.
Oh, and they can't make a margarita with mezcal because "the computer doesn't let them switch ingredients" (what???).
Yeah, so sad to see this place go from excellent to mediocre in just a couple of years.
