"This casual Cuban spot attached to a busy hostel is great if you want to grab something quick before seeing a show at the Auditorium Theatre. Cafecito is right next door and the best things on the menu are the sandwiches. We like rotating between the classic Cubano and the Guava with tender roasted pork or chicken, covered in a tangy guava BBQ sauce. They serve wine and beer, but the cafe con leche is a good option if you need to stay awake through the first act of Atlas Shrugged: The Musical." - adrian kane, john ringor
"Cafecito has multiple locations and is one of our favorite casual Cuban restaurants in the city. Though their original, larger spot is also in the Loop, this smaller one will save you a few extra steps since it’s only about four blocks away from the tower. Head here to grab a ham, egg, and cheese and a namesake cafecito if you scheduled an early Skydeck trip to beat the midday rush, or try a cubano or saucy ropa vieja for lunch. Seating is a bit limited, but if you’re here in the summer, there’s more space to sit and rest on their patio." - john ringor
"A Latin coffee shop and counter-service spot with multiple Chicago locations offering pressed sandwiches (fan-favorite Cuban, lechon, choripan), breakfast egg sandwiches, and quick breakfast or lunch options for festival-goers on the move." - Lisa Shames
"Before catching a performance at the Auditorium Theatre, make sure to grab a quick dinner at Cafecito next door. This casual Cuban spot has platters with rice and beans, but the best things here are the sandwiches served on crispy bread. Our current sandwich rotation includes the classic Cubano, the saucy ropa vieja with sweet plantains, and the Guava Q: tender roasted pork or chicken, covered in a tangy guava BBQ sauce. Their cortaditos and cafe con leche also come in handy as a pick-me-up to help you survive the first act of Shrek: The Musical." - adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru
"As tempting as a cellophane-wrapped sandwich from one of the many nearby Starbucks might be, try a cubano at Cafecito instead. It’s the best thing here, which is saying something since their other sandwiches, like the ropa vieja, are also very good. Get a cafe con leche too. Cafecito has a few other locations in the city, but the one in the Loop is the best since it’s probably the one within walking distance of your office." - adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru
