"Ciampini has all the required three P s (that's a thing, right?): People-watching, prime piazza location, and perfect cappuccini to make it the most coveted caffè bar in Rome. From 8 a.m. to after dark, Rome's best-dressed flock to Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina for a caffè and cornetto, a light pasta lunch, or the evening's aperitivo . Counters are crowded, and tables are in demand(with a slightly higher fee for service) but well worth it to have your own oasis in the middle of the hubbub. A few minutes at the gelato bar is also worth your time—ice cream genius Sergio spends every morning making all the ice cream and granita flavors from scratch."

Nice location with a pleasant terrace, but the experience was disappointing. It was very hot with only two small fans, making it uncomfortable. I asked for my food well done, but it came undercooked and had to be sent back. The chef clearly didn’t follow instructions. Needs improvement in both comfort and kitchen service.

Beautiful restaurant, exceptional service but very expensive. You pay for the views and the fabric tablecloths and towels. Good option only if you are very tired and hungry.

Stopped here and had a delicious lunch! The chick pea croquettes were a hit and the spaghetti and gnocchi were out of this world! It’s a really nice spot above and near the Spanish Steps.

I loved it here! Beautiful view and great outdoor sitting. Great for dinner or aperitivos. Our waiter Fabrizio was so amazing. We will come back one day!

My mother and I were very lucky to come here on their last day for the season 2024. Our waiter, Romano, was extremely professional and pleasant, and the food was delish. Such a treat - and with a fab view!

Unpleasant and stressful experience — would not recommend. During my trip to Rome, I stopped at this restaurant for a quick lunch, drawn by its convenient location near the Spanish Steps. Initially, the setting seemed charming, and I was hoping for a relaxing meal. However, the experience turned out to be anything but relaxing. After I sat down and ordered a small pizza and a drink, the staff immediately insisted that I must order a full meal. I explained that I wasn't very hungry and just needed a small portion, but they kept pressuring me, saying that it was a "restaurant policy." It became quite uncomfortable when a second staff member came over and repeated the demand. I was told, rather firmly, that if I didn't order a main course, I might have issues with the service. Instead of enjoying my time, I felt rushed and unwelcome. In all my travels across Italy, I have never encountered a place where guests are made to feel like an inconvenience simply because they aren't ordering enough. Most Italian restaurants are known for their warmth and hospitality — this was the complete opposite. I ended up leaving before even receiving my order because the atmosphere became too unpleasant. It’s a pity because the location is great, but the way guests are treated is simply not acceptable.

Great experience. In a good location and the service is excellent as well. We ordered mixed seafood salad, house pizza, beef fillet, and house pasta. All of them are excellent in taste. We also tried Tiramisu. Though not a fan on dessert, this one is also brilliant, particularly not that sweet. This is a good experience to end our family trip in Rome.

Was just stopping for drinks. I could immediately tell the draft line wasn’t clean after getting my beer by the taste. Was given chips which were very stale, at least they were complimentary. If you need anything from a server good luck. There were only 6 other people here at 6pm and had trouble receiving any service from the 5 servers. You’re paying for the view but it’s not worth the headache in my opinion. Please read some of the other bad reviews and how the owner responds. Save yourself the trouble and walk 5 mins to somewhere that you’re getting your moneys worth.
