Today, while waiting for our flight, my wife and I stopped by your café to have a coffee and a quick bite. We ordered a focaccia, an Americano, and a latte.
The older gentleman working behind the counter handed us the sandwich after heating it for less than 10 seconds, then walked away. When I asked about the coffee, he checked a few previously brewed filter coffees, picked one, and simply added hot water. After I mentioned it was still cold, he finally prepared a proper one.
However, he then proceeded to serve the next customer without making the latte. After handing over their coffee, I reminded him I was still waiting for mine. Instead of using a fresh shot, he reused the old one without cleaning the portafilter and added milk that had clearly been reheated some time ago. Unsurprisingly, the latte was both cold and unpleasant, but I chose not to complain further to avoid conflict.
Later, I politely asked another staff member if they could properly heat the focaccia. Just five seconds later, the same older man came and removed it from the toaster. When I pointed out that it was still cold, he put it back and started muttering inappropriate words in Italian. His colleague began to laugh. I may be a tourist, but that doesn’t mean I can’t understand disrespectful behavior.
It was extremely disappointing to encounter such rude and unprofessional service at the end of what had otherwise been a lovely holiday in Rome. Please remember: the quality of your staff reflects the quality of your establishment.
I am attaching the receipt with the order details in case you would like to verify my account. I also hope that you have security cameras covering the area behind the counter.
