"Here's the Deal I still owe my best friend millions for introducing me to Wellington's Cafe L'Affare while I was working in New Zealand . Founded in 1990, this quintessential cafe is cozy, delicious and gourmet ground breaking. What are your food choices, you ask? All-day breakfast, a delicious à la carte lunch menu, daily changing soup and pasta options and a comprehensive selection of café style counter food. There's not only the famed espresso and coffee bar, but also a license for beer and wine, as well as freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. This is the perfect place to start the day off right, or recharge at lunch during a big visit to Wellington, New Zealand. If you're not going through Wellington, fear not. Local cafes all throughout the country serve their delicious coffee. L'affare in Italian means 'the deal'."

Had a wonderful breakfast date experience here :) Had amazing service the moment we stepped in the door with staff being so attentive and kind. The seating was so spacious. The atmosphere wasn't loud either, which was nice as someone who struggles a bit with loud noises. I had the iced mocha, and my partner had the peach cold brew, which was such an interesting flavor and was so amazing to try out. My partner described it as smooth, and I can't agree more. My iced mocha was topped with marshmallows, ice cream, and cream! The coffee was not bitter at all and smoothly accompanied the chocolate 😋 I was not expecting it to be as big as it was but will be coming back to have more!! For food, my partner had their eggs bene with salmon. Eggs were cooked to perfection, and the hollandaise was especially delicious. I opted for the savory muffin and was not disappointed with how soft this muffin was, perfectly accompanied by butter. Thank you so much for our breakfast, and it won't be the last time coming :) <3

We had breakfast for four of us on Sunday morning, service was friendly and efficient. Meals were delicious and coffee was fantastic. A cool setting and displays were very funky. Will be back next time we visit Wellington.

They forgot our order! We hadn't been to the cafe in a long time and were keen to give it a try on a Sunday morning. We were seated quickly and ordered coffee. A different wait person took our food order (bacon & eggs so pretty straightforward) and then we waited. The coffee came in a reasonable time (and it was very good) and then we kept waiting. The cafe was busy so we were patient, but people who'd come in after us were getting food. None of the staff checked on us, no-one asked if we wanted more coffee. I went up to the counter in the finish to ask about our order - it hadn't been entered in! They offered to put a rush order through but we didn't have time after already waiting 40 minutes. We weren't charged for our coffees but this didn't make up for a very disappointing experience.

I got the bubble and chorizo bubble and squeak, it sounded great from the menu, but I was surprised at both how tasty and how well presented this was. Such a well balanced meal, not too creamy, not too salty, just right.

This is a quite large place, lots of seating. First I'd like to praise the chef. I had the waffles - the waffle itself was perfect with a rich flavor, not bland. The 2 compotes with it were also perfect, the banana was tasty and the chocolate / coffee mousse just right. My only criticism - the above was perfect - and then they added half a cup of chopped dried banana pieces. They were also a few chocolate coated coffee beans. That didn't add anything and in fact detracted from what the chef prepared. Too many flavors / textures. It became muddled. I took them off, but they were mixed in a bit. The latte was also a bit small. However - I would come back and just tell them no dried banana pieces. I would eat the waffle plain ....lol. It's was that good.

A large cafe with more private table options. Great selection of cabinet food that's home made. Good menu options for both breakfast and lunch. I had eggs Benedict on one visit and Vietnamese salad on another and both very tasty. Coffee tends to be a little bit more bitter here but very popular with locals. Love that mochas come with a whitakers chocolate square!

The peach twist coffee is well worth a visit. Sweet enough that I didn't feel the need to add any sugar, but not so sweet that it didn't feel like a coffee, with some lovely fruity notes. Eggs Benedict also really good, the burnt butter hollandaise gives it that tad extra savoury flavour. Staff were lovely and very happy to explain menu items, which led me to try the peach twist coffee in the first place. Will definitely be back when I'm in the vicinity!

Yelp
This cafe is a real Wellington institution. They roast their own coffee and it is excellent. In fact many other cafes around the country use L'Affarie coffee. Always a buzzy vibrant hip atmosphere. Great generous portions of food and efficient friendly staff. There are many reasons why this place remains constantly a favourite.

Yelp
Having had the L'Affare coffee in our hotel and loving it we made a special the trip to the Caffe. It was 2:45 and they were closing at 3pm- they had put away the menus, the coffee fixings, they were vacuuming and the employees were all focused on cleaning up and seemed annoyed we were ordering. They had us move out of the way so they could stack the signs at the counter where we were waiting for our coffees (at 2:50) Our coffees were fine, nothing special, as were our pastries. But the whole experience was not worth the trip. Maybe close at 2:30 and clean until 3pm? Or clean after you close? Probably nice if you come earlier...

Yelp
I've always loved this room -- visually noisy and eclectic, not the stark minimalism of so many Welly restaurants. Professional and accommodating. We asked for something that had been long removed from the menu; and they created it for us -- a really nice variant

Yelp
LOVE L'AFFARE. One of my favorite coffee shops. It's got a deep ambiance. A bit of dark lighting inside, but also busy and full of life. Their execution is incredible and you can see into most of the kitchen. You can't go wrong. Order anything on the menu. I also love their cabinet food! However, they close at 4:00, which is a bummer.

Yelp
14/12 - Thought I'd give it another chance, overpriced for average food and horrible service. Was told to go back to our table while we were looking at the cabinet food as it wasn't on the menu, staff member was very rude and if I were alone I would have left straight away. Most of us only ate 1/2 of what we ordered. Cafe is overrated and a little pretentious! 13/12 - Menu food is ok but it takes quite a while to get it and that's after you find a table, dodging the staff who are happy to walk in front of you. What I find ridiculous is their cabinet food. The ham and cheese baguettes are nice but can you get a ham and cheese baguette wrong? What I don't understand is why they never make enough? At 11:45 they had run out and wasn't making anymore, I was offered a ham and cheese tasted sandwich from the kids menu. If you can make that can't you put the same ingredients in a bread roll? And if you know you always sell out, especially before lunch, why not make more. Common business sense! Or are you too good to make more??

Yelp
I love this place. Great service accompanied by great food. The food is consistent. Great place for brunch and is good for groups as they have some large tables. There is also a children's play area with toys etc to keep the kids busy. Only downside is it can be quite loud.

Yelp
Yet another great breakfast in Wellington! I got fried eggs and bacon with an Americano. It was wonderful! Again, the eggs again were delicious and the bacon was delicious. It had a smokey taste, almost an applewood smoked bacon. The americano was strong.. just how I like it! I could definitely see myself as a regular here. Very friendly

Yelp
Cute little cafe with delicious food. Porridge is outstanding! Friendly servers and great atmosphere. There's even a little kid area for your children.

Yelp
The 5th star will come when they start making trim flat whites ;)

Yelp
Walked in 5mins before it opened which I didn't know. The entire staff were sitting around eating and drinking talking about how drunk they got last night. Didn't get swerved or even acknowledged until after opening time. God I wish Pre Fab would open on Sunday's
