First Orient Express Hotel to Open in Rome Near Pantheon - AFAR

"Located in the historic Piazza della Minerva adjacent to the Pantheon, this recently renovated hotel occupies a palatial residence originally built in 1620 and later transformed into Palazzo Fonseca. The comprehensive restoration blends art-deco grandeur with restored historical features such as original marble statues by sculptor Rinaldo Rinaldi; the project was overseen by French architect and designer Hugo Toro, who added signature interior touches like shell-shaped bathroom sinks in guest rooms. Reopening reservations begin April 1, 2025, and the property will offer 93 rooms, including 36 suites and some rooms with Pantheon views. Accommodation types range from 270-square-foot Classic Rooms with king bed, marble bathroom, and complimentary soft drinks/coffee/tea in the minibar, up to a 2,530-square-foot top suite with separate living and dining spaces, vanity desk, and a bathroom with double sink, walk-in shower, and soaking tub. Rates for a Classic Room including breakfast start from €1,000 per night. Food-and-beverage options include a lobby lounge serving afternoon tea and a rooftop restaurant and bar called Voliera offering Mediterranean cuisine, craft cocktails, and panoramic views; additional amenities include a spa inspired by traditional Roman baths." - Bailey Berg

Shame on this place! The “medium” is like an extra extra small. The cup is deceiving. You barely get 4 tablespoons. €4 for nothing!

Not friendly at all, you can’t sit outside at their tables unless you want to be served because they charge you more. Purchased a coffee and water and tried sitting outside, was told if I wanted to sit down “the price is different”. I’m staying very close to this shop and definitely won’t be returning.

This is a great cafe with really delicious sandwiches and ice cream. Prices are very reasonable for so close to tourist sites.

When in Rome you have gelato. Found this bar just around the corner from the pantheon and when I got there a family was ordering ice cream and then anithe rguy was paying at the till with his ice cream. Anyway there was not sign or anything, but though since the other guy was busy with getting the gelato, the guy would surely asssit me .. I guess when your so close to a sight and there are tons of tourist that goes inn and out, you get a bit cranky. Not much of a service if you don't speak the langues i guess but the only thing I liked about it ..was the gelato. Loved the tiramisu gelato.

Didn’t say anything about paying only by cash, just at the end when you already bite your ice cream, also if you want to use their seats you have to buy a drink or something else, the stuff was very rude ! try to skip this place !

The taste of gelato is good or obviously pistachio is really taste good. But hey, for €2.50 other ice cream shops will give you 2 flavours and here just plain 1 and I keep insisting to have 2 flavours. 😅 NOT MY GO-TO-GELATO shop anymore. Gelato 4 | Service 1 | Price 1

The staff were impolite. They had a table charge if you wanted to sit at the table and for you to be able to use the bathroom you would need to have a minimum spend. The only reason why this place is still open is because people are using it for toilet. Affogato was not good and it was overpriced.

Never have I ever in my years of travelling had a worse experience with a place. When I went to use the bathroom(no one was in line)the man behind the counter was extremely rude, and yelled angrily across the entire cafe for me to stand in line behind two women standing next to him far away from the toilet. I apologized for the misunderstanding because I would never jump the queue with purpose, and there was no way for me to see that they actually were in line 10 meters from the toilet. This was a minor incident, but while I stood there in line the man behind the counter clearly started talking shit about me loudly in Italian making the five other italian people in there including a servant stare at me and laughing, not in a good way. This made me very uncomfortable. Further on after I had used the bathroom, I said thank you so much for letting me use the toilet, but the man behind the counter snapped. He started raising his voice even more, continuing to yell angrily at me first in english then italian. It felt like as he was waiting to attack me(with words) when i got out of the toilet. When I continously tried to apologise for the previos misunderstanding his voice got even louder, and I ended up walking out of the cafe with him still yelling at me. The amount of disrespect. Avoid coming here if you don’t want to be attacked by an angry man who can’t take an apology for an innocent misunderstanding, and has no problem shittalking you loudly in front of the entire cafe.

Yelp
You're walking around Rome right now, you've googled "restaurants near me" and this bad boy pops up, some reviews... but you look past. 'Stop it right now, comm'er comm'er, lemme tell yuuu somting. Getta your butta' over 'er.' The food is cheap. The food is good. The waitstaff is friendly. The place is clean. There are few tourists. The toilet, it has no seat, so you stand ‍... or hover. Either way, is not comfortable. For lunch, I had a panini, some sorbet, a cappuccino, and water. €12. I was fed, I was happy, I had cafè. All of the courses, and I left stress free, and happy. Come, sit, relax, and maybe this one isn't fit the gram. But eat up!

Yelp
My family loved this little place. Great gelato and sandwiches. Super nice staff and prices were super reasonable. Perfect lunch spot for a family.

Yelp
He charged 1 EU extra per gelato than displayed price. Gelato was also quite bland in flavor.

Yelp
Nice place to pop in for a gelato, drink and a quick rest while walking around Rome.

Yelp
One of the best places for gelato and coffee! Staff are nice. It costs a bit more to eat in but the staff are good at informing you about that. It's a quirky, authentic place!
