"Caffè Nero is a popular, vintage-style Italian coffee house attached to the surprisingly trendy Residence Inn. This outpost is run by a friendly team who know how to prepare a mean cappuccino. Pair your coffee drink with one of many crispy, savory sandwiches on offer. While there’s ample seating, the warm ambience and home-styled wooden decor make this spot feel like a cozy library." - Branding Iron @ Stantec

Caffeine Nero is a beautiful coffee shop / lounge located in the seaport area of Boston. Both the coffee and tea were great tonight after dinner. So were the cookies and biscotti!

The Caffe happened to be next to my hotel when I visited to Boston! A pleasant surprise to see a café that provides a great atmosphere to sit and enjoy a good cup of coffee, and also a relatively quiet place to work. The variety of savoury sandwiches and sweets were very good and tasty. It’s a great place to grab a coffee and sit for a quick meeting or enjoy a cup of coffee.

The vibes in this coffee shop are 100% the reason to go. The Gothic library theme of sorts makes for a very relaxing place to read, chat with friends, work, or just relax. The food, while fine, includes pre-prepared sandwiches and baked goods similar to Starbucks. These are possibly prepared on site, but the packaged and reheated nature of the sandwich (I got the turkey caprese) seems similar in quality to me. The coffee was good (I got a dirty chai latte with oat milk). The service was ok, but I observed a defensive/subpar interaction between the customer ahead of me and the barista on duty, resulting in her saying "well, I know how to make it" and walking away. Nevertheless, I would go back for the atmosphere.

Checked out this place due to numerous positive reviews. I tried to order an iced vanilla latte with oat milk, but I was given some variation of cold brew within vanilla syrup and some milk. The cafe itself has a cute aesthetic, but I did not enjoy my coffee here.

It’s a cozy environment with warm tones, cozy leather sofas, wood, and black accents. The location where I visited had a lot of seating space, which would make for a nice meeting area for interviews or even a nice space to get some work done. The exposed beams juxtaposed with lighter woods makes the space feel comfortable, warm, and yet stylish at the same time. It’s definitely a coffee shop I would recommend trying if you’re ever in the area and looking for something good to drink. I am looking forward to going back here again the next time I am able to visit the area.

This was a rather pleasant experience! I'm typically not a fan of "chain" establishments, but the Caffe Nero was different. Pretty knowledgeable and SUPER friendly staff that was an absolute pleasure to engage! The weather outside was abysmal, so any reprieve from that was a welcome experience. Add in some delightful coffee, great snack offerings, and a super cozy vibe = recipe for relaxation! Swing by and give them a shot if you're in the area! Or should I say ask them to give you a shot... lol

Google
Loved this place. The vibe was perfect - a little dark and broody but balanced with great natural light. Coffee was great, and the cinnamon kougin-amann was one of the best pastries I've had. 10/10 recommend!!

Google
Matcha Latte was alright, not the best I've had. The lunch sandwiches were pretty good (Italian and Chicken Pesto). Cute interior design. The staff was friendly.

Yelp
We were directed to this location to get cinnamon buns. At the counter, friendly Lee told us they weren't quite ready yet. We wanted them. We waited. They were so worth it--hot, fresh and super yummy. Our coffees--a mocha latte and a cafe au lait, were also wonderful. Maybe it's because this place is also a roaster. The best part--we downloaded the app--and both coffees and rolls were on them. We are signed up, will be loyal whenever near a Cafe Nero (like we also got Cafe Nero coffees at Amtrak South Station). The pastry selection was amazing and we loved the coffees. What's more to like!

Kim S.

Yelp
No pictures. I ordered a plain iced latte. The server was nice. The coffee was well made. The honey needed to be refilled, and I should have been a good citizen and brought it to the counter. The sandwiches and pastries looked good but we had already eaten a fantastic donut. It's probably a good place to relax and get some work done

Angelina Z.

Yelp
I ordered the pistachio mocha latte online and it was perfect--not too sweet, but there was a strong taste of pistachio and chocolate. I'm definitely coming back next time to sit inside, the cafe has a super cozy feel.

Yelp
Incredible customer service and barista skills by Marc and Andy today at my first Nero experience.

Matt W.

Yelp
This place is cute. They have ample seating inside, outside, and inside outside? The complex they are in has a set of seating in a courtyard that works out nice. The menu offerings are straight forward and it works. I did an iced vanilla latte which had a nice flavor both of the vanilla itself but also a pronounced coffee flavor. Some shops don't get this right, especially in this day in age of over sweetened and flavored coffee beverages. It was bold, slightly bitter, almost spiced. I thought it was great and well worth checking out. Really good pricing as well.

Tim L.

Yelp
In addition to the decor the layout of this shop has a bit of a directed flow to it which is what differs from other more open concept coffee shops. This is what creates a greater feeling of coziness and warmth along with the expected wood materials etc. The coffee is good and the staff were friendly first thing in the morning. A definite plus when you're the grumpy one in the morning without the coffee!

Jon T.

Yelp
Wow, has Caffe Nero always had so many great vegan options? Everytime I come here there seems to be something more. Some of the items I've seen and/or have had here: -Vegan berry muffin -Vegan breakfast roll -Vegan breakfast croissant -Vegan croissant -Vegan tart Additionally, the beverages here are very well made. On my last visit, I had a matcha latte with oat milk and it was surprisingly flavourful and one of the better matcha's I've had recently. Finally, they have a very cool inner courtyard that is a fun spot to hang out. Highly recommend a stop if you need a drink or treat.

Brianna D.

Yelp
Incredible quality, decor, music, and ambiance! Perfect place for catching up with a friend, working, or enjoying some alone time. I like the variety of seating options.

Bobby S.

Yelp
We tried several different drinks. Cappuccino, regular, latte, chai tea. All very weak. Tasted like a glass of milk with a hint of coffee. We asked the girl behind the counter to add extra shot and she seemed very upset by this and started slamming bottles as she grudgingly made another drink. Which still tasted watered down. I will never go back there again.

Yelp
Cute little coffee chain all over Boston- love the location of this specific cafe though! Very basic coffee flavors, however you do have your choice of several types of milk (the staff are more than happy to accommodate you with whatever you want). Breakfast sandwiches aren't bad either, usually pretty fresh, just a little overpriced for what they are. It is very cozy inside, with plenty of couches and a fireplace to sit around. Tip: make sure you download the app. Makes for easy to-go or pick up orders, AND you get a free coffee after 10 coffees!!

Yelp
Chain or not when good espresso is in Q, trust anything Italian ;) Americano was excellent and vegan muffin to get us through the next 2 miles of tourist trekking Boston pavement, a whole wheat packed fruity nutty moist wonder mound. Restrooms are teeny size, maybe original ironworks bldg?, subway tiles and well weathered doors that kinda need a scrub -1* Hubby said he went straight to lobby hotel restrooms which were spic and span and period iron works and bricks mixed with modern build but @$599/night ouch, Espresso a far better deal haha Great walking pit stop to fire up your furnace!

Yelp
First time visiting this cafe and had the pleasure of meeting "Mr. G". What a genuine and pleasant barista! I am a coffee lover and being transparent, a coffee snob at times. I just don't believe in bad cups of coffee! Mr. G has a spirit of excellence in him, he's courteous and friendly and more importantly he knows what he's doing, and I even complimented him on his technique, as I observed him with the two lattes I bought. I got the pumpkin spice latte today and my sister got the white chocolate mocha--both were PERFECTLY made, tasted great, and were the perfect temperature. Hence the 5 stars. I was so impressed I had to go back into the cafe to get his name. I appreciate great cup of coffee made by great people who know how to make a good cup with love, and treat customers very well. Bravo on first impressions. Will definitely revisit while in the Bean!

Kristy S.

Yelp
Super cute place. Smells like a library bc of the books. So many places to sit and relax or study. There are lunch sandwiches and coffee and smoothie options. I got a pistachio latte coffee cold. Soooo good. You can really taste that hint of pistachio. Friendly folks at the counter. You can't go wrong coming here.

Yelp
The WORST cafe experience I've ever had. We waited on line for 15 minutes to be greeted by the rudest most condescending barista who just looked at us and said "what do you want". We ordered our drinks and tried to order a cheesecake in the case to which she said "you don't want that". We asked why and she said "well it's broken" we said we didn't mind and asked if it was still for sale but she continued to say "you don't want that". So we just let it go and paid for our coffees. When our order was ready our lattes were barely warmed, just over room temperature. It was a cold day so I waited to ask if she could heat it up or to remake it and she was SO incredibly rude and patronizing when I was nothing but nice and understanding to her, knowing that they were busy I told her it was no rush but she still was so mean. She finally remade it and it was barely warmer than before but I just took it and left. Horrible customer service and disappointing drinks. The owner or manager who was there was very nice but he should get some better baristas.

Velnette J.

Yelp
We ran into this place in a downpour, we were hoping for the best and we were very pleasantly surprised! What a cozy spot! We had some delicious coffee and treats. We didn't want to leave here it was warm and the chairs were cozy and it was just wonderful.

Yelp
- good service - great frappe - I did not like the tomato pesto sandwich - ham and cheese croissant was tasty - empty at 7am on a wednesday

Todd P.

Yelp
Been here a few times and the quality and service has been great each time. Great chill vibe, love the books and the staff is super friendly and not pretentious.

Jamie G.

Yelp
This is my go to for coffee when in Boston! Love their roasts and and fresh pastries. The staff is always friendly and seem genuinely happy to see me. Wish I had one near home in Detroit!

Thea H.

Yelp
I personally love the location of this cafe, it is close to the waterfront for when you want to take a walk after grabbing your morning sandwich and coffee, or you can dine in and enjoy the Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi here is great because it is a three hour connection which is great for casual business meetings, or studying for class. I ordered a latte, and I was very happy about how much foam there was when I received my latte, because for it me it makes or breaks my drink. The atmosphere in Caffe Nero is very inviting, which makes it a perfect place to study, read or chit chat. Realizing the morning hours ticking by you can see how busy this place can get in the morning, it is not too shabby of an idea to get there a little early around nine o'clock. I'm excited to be back soon to enjoy another good cappuccino with extra foam on a early morning in Boston.

Nicole H.

Yelp
Long time fan of Cafe Nero BUT being that you are located in a hotel, your staff should really learn some patience with tourists/customers who's first language isn't English! I heard one of your long time workers yell "DO YOU WANT ANYTHING ELSE!" (through my noise canceling headphones) three times when the customer didn't understand, instead of just asking a different way. He spoke to both groups of non-English dominent speaking customers that came through while I was there in the most impatient and arrogant tones. Other customers in the store were visibly uncomfortable by his behavior, turning their heads to stare. So rude and a truly embarassing representation!

Munib L.

Yelp
Nice cafe which has quite space to sit in Friendly staff and fast service Prices are fair Parking is right across street but good luck trying to get a spot on weekend

Soo H.

Yelp
Beautiful, calming atmosphere with an antique feel that any bookworm would absolutely love. Plenty of comfortable seating, albeit with small tables not big enough for students, and wifi that doesn't require a password. I ordered a regular matcha latte, which was surprisingly very good - not overly sweet and had the right amount of matcha taste. It was around $4. There were plenty of sweet pastries on display. All in all, I will definitely be back if I need a place conducive for concentration and a delicious drink.

N S.

Yelp
Excellent cappuccino ! Excellent space and seating inside with everyone social distancing. Great Caprese sandwich.

Russ S.

Yelp
No condiments. "Enjoyed" my dry ham and cheese croissant. I am sure it must be a tremendous logistical challenge stocking up on some mayo for your patrons in this central Boston location.

Jane M.

Yelp
Had to come back for the apple coffee cake and hot chocolate but the customer service is very bad.. they got the order messed up and did not even care to applogize.. also they were in a hurry to wrap up orders so they can go out for a break.. very nice atmosphere in here.. would recommend changing the staff..

Damien S.

Yelp
This Caffe Nero is my top choice. The layout is perfect, there's a Coffee School conference room you can use with a batted eyelash and a flashy smile (assuming there's no training going down), and best of all: the 3p rush is all grab & go. Sooooo, young padawan, the ample seating is still somewhat occupied by stake-claimers who decide they're going to take a four-top booth to watch Hulu from their phone, but at least other options open up rather quickly. Plus, patio tables! I do love me some Barrington down the way, but seating is ultra limited. When in a pinch, this Nero fits the bill. As always, cold brew on tap, baked goods, salads and sandwiches (that are all better than decent), and free three hour blocks of fairly fast wifi. Which explains why people are streaming Hulu from their phones. Ugh.

Filipp N.

Yelp
It's a great place with very professional staff. My favorite drink is a cappuccino with extra foam and less milk. Usually, I tell the barista how I would like to make it, but in this Nero, they asked me do I want to make it stronger or more milky; with an extra shot or just a regular? Morning coffee is a very important part of the day, and when it is done correctly it makes my day. So, today my barista is awesome and I very thankful for him.

Justin T.

Yelp
Not the most inviting barista experience. Was laughed at when I simply asked to enjoy my coffee in house and in a real cup.

Park G.

Yelp
Caffè Nero is expanding! With another store less than ten minutes away on Congress Street, this chain is blowing up in the Greater Boston area. The decor generally features books and shelves and probably what some would call a hipster vibe. Interior aside, they have a very solid cold brew! Not to mention that they have it on tap, something I've seen done way before Starbucks started doing the same. The food options are also very solid with great sandwiches and baked goods. This particular location is in the new building that houses Luke's Lobster, Sweetgreen, Bank of America, and more. Great addition to the growing neighborhood!

Melissa L.

Yelp
For starters this is the type of place to attract any coffee lover. They must have this bookmarked as their go-to. It goes above and beyond your typical coffee shop as far as the interior is set up giving it a cozy feel. You might even begin to think you're in a library. But, if you're anything like me and coffee isn't really your thing, its still the type of place to make you want to order one just to be able to sit here and enjoy the ambiance. They have lots of seating to choose from, booths, tables, couches and outdoor seating for the summer. It is fairly quite which is great for reading, working or using the 3 hour wifi. Who doesn't love free wifi? If you're hungry they have all day breakfast as well as sandwiches, soups, salads, pastries and snacks. (gluten-free options available and my favorite, vegan muffins!) Can't forget about the coffee, hot chocolate, teas and drinks. Would recommend if you're looking for a coffee shop beyond the norm. (Sorry Starbucks, still love your refreshers though).

Debbie D.

Yelp
Such a cool place for coffee and breakfast. And the coffee was food was excellent! Staff super nice!

Zach C.

Yelp
Cute little cafe along the harbor. The shop is clean and tidy and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The barista, was quick to take my order and helped make a breakfast suggestion. I enjoyed a nice latte and muffin while watching the morning foot traffic. Weather you need a quick fix or a place to answer emails cafe Nero has you covered.

Becca R.

Yelp
A neat coffee shop with a cool vibe and multiple locations around Boston. Try the pistachio muffin!!

Mary Babb V.

Yelp
This place is very trendy and super comfortable. I've yet to try something I didn't like. So far my recommendations include: Hot tea (simple I know, but this place gives you the actual mugs if you're staying and I really appreciate that) White chocolate mocha (go for the grande...it's not as big as you'd expect and it's really good) Chocolate croissant (not too rich but not really big enough to share) The vibe is really chill and it's got books scattered all around which really lends to the comforting vibe. It can be a little hard to find a good quality coffee place that has chairs/tables for those wanting to relax for a bit. It's about on the same price level as Starbucks but a little less pretentious. It's a perfect place to hang out and wait for an open table at Neptune Oyster...

Melissa W.

Yelp
This cozy café is what coffee lovers dream of. The décor is industrial yet warmly inviting with rows of books and comfy booths. If I was a local, I'd be here constantly to work or read a book. Great affordable coffee and the pastries looked appetizing.

Laurie V.

Yelp
My travel companion and I were looking for another coffee shop, but instead we found this place. Good cup of coffee and nice ambiance. Very friendly staff. Butter croissant could have been a little more buttery, but other than that, pretty cool spot.

Paige N.

Yelp
I've been here many times since they are super close to my office. It is a cold drizzly spring day and I decided I HAD to have a GINORMOUS hot chocolate - with whipped cream, of course. After ordering Steve told me they didn't have any whipped cream as their can had run out of air for the thingy (yah I have no idea what that part is called). So, super bummed I take my cream-less hot chocolate to the fireplace for a relaxing sip and about 10 minutes later - much to my suprise and delight - Steve brings me a brand new hot chocolate with the biggest, creamiest, dollop of whipped cream I've ever seen! Thanks Steve, you win dude.

Robert L.

Yelp
My wife and I were looking for a coffee shop while doing some sight seeing. I found this on yelp with great reviews.I agree with these reviews.Great ambiance and a great cup of cappuccino. It's really nice to sit inside or out, luckily Boston hit 70* today and we were able to sit outside. I would highly recommend this coffee shop to anyone... looking to relax, wifi, or just enjoying the day with my wife :)

Tanya V.

Yelp
Came here today and the like was out the door. Waited a long time only to not order any of the food because it was pre-made. Only saving Grace was a super awesome worker who was taking care of customers, pleasant in the midst of managing an impossibly long line by herself, and training the cashier who was obviously new at the same time! She was amazing. Caffe Nero, not so much.

Angela L.

Yelp
I'm a slight latte snob - sorry, not sorry. I had immediately asked if they make latte art, and thy usually don't... but they made an exception for me. Super nice people and decent lattes.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
Great coffee and ambiance! There's an outdoor patio and cozy seating on the inside. Went on a Sunday afternoon and got a cortado with a veggie quiché. Both were good! Recommendation for the store to staff more members as the one cashier was also the barista and handled food prep so the line quickly grew after I ordered my items.

Arinne B.

Yelp
I came here with my son because of its proximity to the Children's museum. I ordered food and a beverage for him and when we were seated at our 2-top table took a self-contained, non-stinky food item out of my bag. They have no dairy free baked goods, unlike Flour and Bees Knees nearby. I was promptly scolded by the management and told I would have to put it away. That leaves me writing this review as I wait for my child to eat so that I can eat lunch as I walk back to the Children's museum. There is no sign saying no outside food. Half of the tables are empty and the others are filled with families with kids. For their sake I hope nobody needs Cheerios or a bottle of milk. I don't usually bring outside food into establishments... But they have a limited menu--an informal coffee shop with a large family w/small children customer base so I didn't think it would be a problem. I was wrong. There are many coffee shops in the area. Next time we'll visit one of them instead. The food was good, the customer service and signage was not.

Mercedes F.

Yelp
Wow this was my first time here, I have never heard about this place or even seen it and I sure wish I knew about this place earlier. My friend recommended we go so we walked over from faniuel hall which isn't a bad walk it was a great day out. The second I walked in I loved the place already, such a great vibe for a coffee shop. Made me want to sit and stay for a long period of time. The menu drives you right in its so big and they present it very clean cause it looks handwritten. For a coffee shop they have a huge menu. Behind the counter looked very clean, all the espresso machines looked brand new and shiny. The only thing I would say turned me off is the people behind the counter could of been a little bit happier, I dont think I saw either of them smile. I am still giving them 5 stars because I loved it here. Just a little tip. The coffee itself we got it for there. The mugs are cool, easy to hold. I ordered a large cappuccino and it came in a huge cup I was nervous at first but managed to finish the whole thing. It was delicious, tasted very fresh was the perfect temperature as well. I even got it with an almond milk( not really sure) and that was my first time trying that because my friend told me to try it and was very tasty! You will see me here more often :)

Brendan B.

Yelp
Maybe give them a few weeks to work out their kinks. My croissant was dry and latte was a little tart. Just opened last week though. Interior is large and perfect for studying/ hanging out. It has the vintage Italian coffee house style similar to Downtown Crossing location. I'll update my rating as quality picks up. Update: the service and quality of the drinks has much improved since when they first opened. Because of this it has become a go-to spot for me. Tons of seating and a great ambiance.

Danielle G.

Yelp
Another great location for the Caffè Nero chain! When visiting Europe last summer, I came across many Caffè Nero shops, but they were all so, so tiny. I think Europe and the States differ in their coffee shop philosophies, but that's a post for somewhere else. If you like the first location in Boston, you'll like this one too. Tons of cozy seating, same menu, a shortcut coffee-only line for peak hours, and a separate conference space. The whole place is a bit below street-level, though I wouldn't call it garden-level, giving it an extra air of vintage book, flat white, exposed brick coolness.

David S.

Yelp
When I'm in Boston Caffe Nero is my go to place and when I'm not in Boston I miss it dearly. For starters the coffee is right up my alley: smooth, not fruity, and quite caffeinated for a fair price. The atmosphere is inviting from the comfy seats, cozy family room / home library feel with a fire place to the very nice people that work there. All around a perfect café that got it right all around. Thanks!

Olivia T.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops in Boston! Lots of seating and outlets to pull out a laptop and do work, such kind employees, large windows with cozy brick vibes, an absolutely essential for getting work done around seaport.

Shanice O.

Yelp
Super cute local coffee shop! Delicious brew and amazing buttered croissants cozy and warm with a rustic vibe.

Christopher D.

Yelp
} Young, hip attractive crowd (being honest here) } Plenty of seating } Neon green Pistachio Muffin that is absolutely necessary } Italian Espresso that will make your black hair happy The customer base at the Southie location seems younger, 21-29 kinda crowd. Just throwing it out there.
