The ambiance and location is great but the food is just okay. It is still quite good and the serving size is just enough for a single person. It did take a while for our orders to be taken and for the food to arrive but it was during peak lunch time. The chicken is moist and flavorful but on the small side. Ensalata Verde is really just iceberg lettuce with olive oil. Would've liked to try their desserts.

A stunning café that feels like stepping back in time. Every detail in the decor is thoughtfully arranged, blending old-world charm with elegant style. Sweeping views of the Tuscan countryside can be enjoyed from the window seats and the balcony — absolutely breathtaking. The service was warm and welcoming, and everything was served in beautiful, period-appropriate tableware. The pasta all’Amatriciana was exceptional — rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. A true gem, perfect for taking a break from wandering the charming streets and hills of Montepulciano!

A stunning cafe which takes you on a step back in time. At every turn the decor is artfully arranged and furnished with old world style and taste. Sweeping views of the countryside are available from the window seats and balcony. The service was lovely and the food and drinks were set forth in period appropriate tableware. A gem of a place to take a break from window shopping and walking the hills of Montepulciano!

In my two weeks in Italy, this was by far the worst meal I had. The omelette I ordered was clearly microwaved... It was burnt on top but cold in the centre and absolutely oozed oil. The accompanying slice of bread was stale and hard. The slice of cake I had was nothing to write home about either. I would not recommend ordering any of the hot food here. But some of the pastries looked okay. The coffee was alright. I will concede that the view in this place gorgeous and decor was nice, but that wasn't able to make up for the poor food quality.

Google
This is a must visit place when you are in the town. It was originally a cinema and converted in to this beautiful coffee and pastry shop in the 90’s. The decor is timeless along with a unique collection of illy cups. We had Vin Santo, coffees and pastries and it was all served by the most attentive staff. This place is a real gem.

Was on a tour through Montepulciano and was told about this great coffee place. Went and tried the cream coffee suggestion and it didn’t disappoint. Great treat on a hot day. Wish had time to go enjoy the views of Tuscany.

Phenomenal views of the rolling hills of the wineries and countryside. Very relaxing place to enjoy a perfect cappuccino, espresso, and amazing croissants. Highly recommend!

Caffè Polizano in Montepulciano is a remarkable café that truly stands out for its exceptional food and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is incredibly accommodating, making every guest feel at home. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the pasta with mushrooms, which was simply out of this world. My son, who rarely enjoys dining out, was pleasantly surprised to find himself enamored with a dish recommended by our waiter. He declared it the best pasta he has ever eaten, which speaks volumes about the quality and flavor of the food. Additionally, the bruschetta was crafted with excellence, showcasing fresh ingredients and perfect seasoning. The café also boasts a great selection of beers, and their Negroni is a must-try, being outstanding in taste and presentation. With a stellar Google rating of 4.9 stars, Caffè Polizano is a top-rated destination in the area. If you find yourself in Tuscany, this café is an absolute must-visit. Overall, it’s an unforgettable dining experience that combines delicious food with a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Yelp
While on vacation, we were in the city for a few days and on the morning of day two I found this spot. This was a perfect place, it wasn't too busy early in the morning, but walking later in the day there was a crowd. You have a few options either taking your coffee at the bar, sitting inside or taking it with you. My go to coffee on this trip was a cappuccino along with a fresh croissant. I sat near the balcony in a comfortable bench seat with a table. The service is typical and timely. Not fast, but good. There are plenty of shops on this street and a cool leather directly across from the store. This is a must stop place and I recommend you give them a try. Enjoy!

Yelp
Food (5 of 5) -- best coffee and pastries in Montepulciano. Service (5) -- excellent Atmosphere (5) -- the interior is beautiful and warrants a 5 on its own. With the exceptional views make it all the more a wonderful place for any occasion.

Yelp
We enjoyed breakfast at Caffe Poliziano. The Tuscan Omlette was good, if a bit plain. The cornetti were VG. Try any of 3 varieties: Crema, Marmelatta, Pistachio or, all of them, as we did. Coffee was also VG. We had Caffe Latte and Cappuccino. Both were well-prepared and arrived hot. Service was efficient. Our waiter arrived relatively soon after we were seated. He returned promptly to take our order. Both food & beverages were served promptly. We asked for water but it never arrived. All in all, service was good, on a busy morning, by a short-handed staff. The Caffe itself, offers a pleasant atmosphere, with its high ceilings, wood wainscot and old world charm. There is a well-stocked bar and a wide array of "dolci" with more than enough variety, something to appeal to everyone.

Yelp
Food was excellent and the atmosphere be better. Wonderful view of the Tuscan landscape. Great wine of course

Yelp
I hate being stuck in a bad table when eating out. As a solo traveler, I know I will not get the best table in the house. First, the maitre d insisted that I needed to make a reservation for dinner when I stopped by earlier at 5:30pm. Service starts at 7pm. When I arrive. I am not placed in the dining room. Instead, i seated in the area just for people having cocktails (aka the bar/café). A family with two screaming children arrived and made a ton of noise while having drinks. Couples walked in to sit in this area for a cup of coffee or a cocktail. No reservations needed. I had the standard tagliatelle with wild boar ragu. It was okay. The staff at least asked me how was my dish. But this was the Second WORST dining experience I've had in Italy. Not a place to go unless just to sit in the historic café and be overcharged.

Yelp
One of the best places in Montepulciano to dine in an elegant Italian atmosphere. The pastries and coffee are amazing, However, the dinners were hit and miss with us. We stayed in Montepulciano for a month and dined here 3 times. We stopped for coffee and pastries maybe 10 times. I love the ambience of Cafe Poliziano and miss it very much.

Yelp
Atmosphere, location, scenic views. Hot or cold bevs for all pallets and seasons. Whether you're looking for a light snack, lunch, dinner or a sweet treat, Cafe Poliziano is on point. Grazie

Yelp
This was a great place for espresso and dessert. The view is amazing if you can get a seat. We lucked out and did.

Yelp
Food wasn't great. Ordered steaks and given the wrong price They were triple the price quoted. Half the party waited over twenty minutes after the other half was served. Ambiance stale and outdated. Would not recommend

Yelp
The view from the downstairs restaurant is INCREDIBLE (five star) but the service and food is a one star! Hence the two star rating. We went for lunch and it took over two hours! Many other patrons were ignored and experiencing the same lack of service. There were five in our party - four finally got their food but one member of our party didn't get their food till everyone had finished their food, plus it was the beef and was hardly cooked - it was basically raw even though the request was for medium well done. Don't order the chicken and potatoes it was very dry! My daughter ordered the spaghetti and it was honestly the best we've had in all of Italy! So just order the spaghetti and leave as soon as you're done with that! Would definitely go again but will order very differently.

Yelp
J and I stopped by here for his birthday lunch! After reading other Yelpers' reviews and tips, we decided to stay away from the pasta. When we first got there, it was foggy so we couldn't see any of the much-acclaimed view. It started clearing up near the end of our meal, though, so I could see how the view would be really great on a clear and sunny day. Here's what we ate: Beef stew: J really liked this. Lots of meat. He devoured the whole thing. Vegetable soup: really delicious and filling. Lots of vegetables, flavored perfectly, not too salty either! Salad with egg, Pecorino, almonds, capers, chickpeas: fresh ingredients. A solid salad. Service was good. The waitress also was running the coffee & pastry bar (it was a slow day... drizzly and cold in the low season). Their pastries/desserts - the ones pictured were really good!

Yelp
In Montepulciano for study abroad from America. They are so kind and speak English! We got good, fast service. The food was great! Even ate here two times in one day for lunch and dinner! :)

Brian N.

Yelp
Food was expensive. Service was mediocre at best. Half of the dinners were served 20 mins later than others. Too expensive for the quality. Nice ambiance.

Yelp
Great coffee and an even better view. What a wonderful way to soend a lazy afternoon.

Sam S.

Yelp
Food is OK and yes the view is quite nice but the staff is extremely rude especially to Americans. We went here for coffee and croissants two mornings during our visit and the man in charge behind the counter ignored us and waited on locals, then when he did finally acknowledged us we order croissants and a couple cappuccino's, he got our croissants and then continued waiting on locals again, then got around to making our cappuccino's- then when we paid he threw our change on the counter. This happened both mornings. Despite the treatment we continued to be cheerful. A local told us later that they did not like Americans in their establishment.

Yelp
Wow what a view. Stopped in for a cafe latte and a croissant. Service was fabulous as the views were to die for. Excellent place to start your day of Tuscan adventures. Reasonably priced and great people.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! Best views of Tuscany from Montepulciano. The actual area is Valdichiana. Fellini visited here if that matters. Anyway back to the food and wine...wonderful handmade pastas and a wine selection from the area. Anything you order will be fantastic.

Yelp
Best Pasta In Italy! Amazing experience! My wife and I agreed that we did actually have our best pasta meal in Italy here. For a starter we had the pecorino souffle. It was amazing, thick and rich pecoino cake, almost like a cheese cake, but on the savory side, with a great bechamel. She had the ravioli and it was amazing. They served three huge ones that were well flavored and soft. I had hand made pasta in a cheese and pepper, it was divine.

Yelp
Good restaurant with a very, very nice view that raises it to 4 stars. The food was somewhere between a 3 & 4. The waiter was attentive and helped us with his recommendations, all which were very good.

Yelp
The restaurant has a fine view of the valley below from the weather-protected patio. We arrived right at closing time on a weeknight, but were invited inside with great gusto. ("Prego, Prego!") Our party of four ordered Pici with Ragù, and also with cheese and pepper, as well as the Chef's special small lasagna, and various wines. The pasta was ok, but the lasagna was very grey and not particularly tasty. Service was attentive, until it was time for the check, which seems to be cultural. The following day, I returned to retrieve a lost item while others in the party were grocery shopping, and had a nice macchiato at the coffee bar. Later, The Lovely Bride and I sat for a good while munching tasty pastries and taking in the valley view from the sunny seats by the terrace window. April is still a bit cool here. This event made up for the first experience with what has become known as the "grey lasagna." Heartily recommended for coffee and pastries, not so much for the food.

Yelp
The food is mediocre at best, but the views are simply amazing. Come here for breakfast, order a coffee, and stare out at the beautiful views from their balcony. Do not come for lunch, the food isn't worth your time.

Yelp
This restaurant came highly recommended. It has a lovely setting in the heart of Montepulciano,. The food was good, not exceptional . Our waiter spoke English, but acted as though we were bothering him. We went over our order about five times. The service was horrendous. We waited almost an hour between our first and second course. Our waiter would not look at us as he walked past. Finally I got his attention and he said they were preparing our food. Twenty minutes later I got his attention again and told him that we would just take our check because we had waited too long. Suddenly, In very good English he said that there was a wedding downstairs and that the kitchen had gotten backed up. I told him it was ok, we were tired of waiting and we would leave. He turned away and within minutes, had our meals on the table. When I received the check, the tip was already included.

Frank P.

Yelp
The waiters are the worst!!! Do not let them know you are American (good morning). Would not aknowledge us and when we were able to ask for coffee, it came 30 min after we arrived. Was not too crowded at all. The restaurant is very nice, food ok and prices fair but will never revisit this establishment!

Yelp
We were in a rush so my wife and I had cappuccinos (delicious) and very good and fresh brioche at the bar, and it came out to be just 4 € and some change! It was the only place open before 8 am near our hotel, so we were grateful for that since most places in the area are B & B. Didn't have a chance to have lunch or dinner there

Yelp
The view of the valley below Montepulciano was the most remarkable feature of this restaurant. The service was the most disheartening aspect despite the fact that our wait person was one of the managers. My spouse ordered a mixed salad which turned out to be absolutely nothing other than lettuce. My spinach flan was tasty laced with a delicious rich creamy sauce. Michelle's Tuscan soup was disappointing in part because there was more greens in the soup than in her salad. I did like my risotto with sausage although the sausage was not discernible. Our biggest disappointment was the failure of our waiter to ever return to offer us desserts, a rather surprising ending after hearing him recite the dessert options to all 3 tables around us and watching them enjoy their sweet treats. So we left for dessert and cappuccino elsewhere.

Yelp
Poliziano is a fantastic coffee shop and restaurant. The feeling of it is reminiscent of an Austrian coffee shop. Impeccable service is the priority here and everything you consume will be delicious.

Vee V.

Yelp
Mamma Mia ! This has to be the best coffee house on planet earth and not just because the coffee itself is magnificent but also because of the magical views, the history, beautiful interior and many other details which you just have to be there to appreciate. You can either come in for a quick espresso and stand at the bar or go for the sit down service at the back of the shop which comes with a view of Tuscan country side. Either way you won't be disappointed. As always in Italy, be prepared for Italian slow service.
google avatar

Yelp
Four of us ate here on a whim and we're not disappointed. We were led to a downstairs, large dining room as well as an outdoor dining area with a spectacular view of The Tuscan hillside. We were surprised to see only a couple of other guests given a Saturday evening in June with a town full of tourists and had initial questions about our choice. These proved to be unfounded, however. Service and quality of the food were exquisite and delicious with a fantastic wine selection and a knowledgable server. Really great, unhurried 3 hour evening of fine food, atmosphere and company.
google avatar

Leon W.

Yelp
The restaurant downstairs has an amazing view. The wine is really good and the staff is friendly. As primi I had the lasagne and as secondi a platter with salami. I enjoyed the food and the restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Just finished a terrific lunch! We had the Pici pasta (hand rolled, large spaghetti) I had the garlic n tomato sauce n my fiancé had the pecorino cheese n pepper. Both were "super tasty" according to my fiancé n I believe it was our best lunch in Italia since we arrived 12 days ago. The view over the balcony is also beautiful. If we ever make it back to Tuscany we will most certainly come back here. Ciao!!

Yelp
Great view, very ordinary and overpriced food. I violated the cardinal view of cuisine while traveling in touristy areas: if they have a great view or great location near a large tourist attraction, the food is like ordinary or bad.

Rod H.

Yelp
Great view, okay service, wine and rare steak was fine but the fresh tomatoes served on the plate were the worst tomatoes I have ever beef served in Italy. A good restaurant should be ashamed to served worst quality Mercato tomatoes!
google avatar

Ralph K.

Yelp
Beautiful, classic, quiet, relaxed, elegant spot to grab a coffee or wine. It's like an old world library. Had some killer montepulciano here.

Jane S.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant in historic district of Montepulciano. Great decor and atmosphere. Great cappuccino and pastries at breakfast. Friendly service. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jonas B.

Yelp
We stopped by here for an afternoon treat and while the ice cream and the coffee satisfied, the hot chocolate (with amaretto flavor) really rocked and the grappa of Nobile wine was excellent. The view from the balcony was hard to beat, too, though service was on the slow side.
google avatar

H David K.

Yelp
A great place to grab a very good cappuccino in the morning. They open early (7:00) and there's always room at the sizable bar. Grab one of the incredible croissants or one of the other fresh baked goods!

Alexander P.

Yelp
Beautiful place - looking like an old café from 18th century, lovely decoration and amazing balcony. Food is nice as well, although quite pricey (which is kind of expected in such a location).

G M.

Yelp
Nice view and friendly waitress. Prices were slightly high. Cannoli was a bit heavy and crust deep fried. Coffees were good but Viennese was all foam. Smokers sat down next to us on balcony with no separation. It was an ok experience though

Yelp
Great place to drink and to have breakfast. Great view especially from the (small) balcony. Good value for money and nice people.

Susasn v.

Yelp
Beautiful view but so so food. Gnocchi was tasteless and house wine thin. Salad was good however and well as the mixed bruschetta. I think they rely on the tourist traffic for business so the food doesn't have to be exemplary.

Kathleen P.

Yelp
I recently spent a week in Montepulciano attending an Italian school. I couldn't have been happier to discover Caffe Poliziano on my way to school. Had breakfast there every morning, lunch one day and late night dessert and drinks one night. Beautiful location, beautiful decoration, great food. A must if you are in town.
