Caffènation Amsterdam

Cozy place to get a nice coffee, pastries are ok bu some better than others. The blueberries bun was great but the poppy seed cake you could tell was there for few days. Waiters very kind!

Ehhh… the coffee is okay, but everything else feels off. The space is almost welcoming, but the setup feels a bit strange, and the baristas have an oddly detached vibe. The baked goods are unfortunately the weakest point (please, reconsider the baker?). I keep wanting this to be a place where I can relax, get cozy, and come back often but something about the overall atmosphere just doesn’t land. I hope it finds its groove, because it has potential.

This place is very close to our home, basically our neighborhood café. Their lattes are great – the milk taste isn’t overwhelming, you can really taste the coffee. As for the prices, they are average for Amsterdam.

This place is a gem! Always craving their chocolate vegan bars + one of the few spots in this city you can always be sure to drink a great filter coffee that matches the varietal / country. They have baristas who genuinely like coffee, I come here on a daily basis and bring my family members here. A family friendly place always packed with dogs and babies, a spot with beautiful energy!

Super kids friendly, great coffee, good atmosphere. Recently I found out they added decaf coffee(extre fee needed, except for iced black coffee)

I liked the coffee and the banana bread was really nice, but the problem was that the atmosphere was not that nice as i read in the comments that it’s very quite and suitable to study, work or even just set there with your laptop and i was not able to concentrate as the music was a bit annoying and the study/work area was filled with people that were laughing when it was only an area for that specific thing. But all in all it’s very spacious and nice

Really nice neighborhood cafe and you can spend a nice afternoon no matter the weather. Friendly service. Cute and peaceful interior.

Went on a late Sunday afternoon to do some reading for class and enjoyed the small two level ambiance. It was quite crowded when I arrived but I was still able to find a seat in the lower level for my laptop and I. The music was a little loud for my taste, but I popped in my headphones which helped. I first ordered an iced cappuccino, which tasted great, but the serving glass was very small, so I ended up ordering another drink, the cappuccino caramel crumble, which came with a lot of sweet cream and chocolate chips on top! Friendly service and free wifi, but I don't think I would come back to study. Note: they do not accept Visa!

I really loved the casual atmosphere of this cafe. The one man show who was running it the morning I arrived with my family was so friendly, and so patient with us. We asked if they serve food and he said no, but he "doesn't mind picnics" He sincerely meant it. There were five of us in the group, so my sister went up and ordered all five drinks, which he remembered perfectly. Then two of us ran to a market for fruit and croissants, and as we were leaving he asked which drinks were ours so he could make those last, so they wouldn't get cold. Then when we brought back two croissants, he brought us two plates AND jam with a knife. Talk about exemplary and attentive service. Such a casual place, clean, EXCELLENT coffee, and great service. I highly recommend, just don't go there looking for food!

L o v e! This place is rapidly going up to my 5 top coffee places in Amsterdam. Because it has everything a good coffee place should have. First of all, the service/the owner was up his game in a very attentive and polite way, at the same time very laid back chill kinda way. Love that about a place as much as I love my good cappuccino. We ordered one cappuccino and one latte, 2 sweets: pear chocolate cake and fruit passion pastry. The cappuccino is really good, so they have my blessing from now on. Also the sweets were good, I didn't enjoyed that much my pear chocolate cake and I went and took another fruit passion pastry and the guy was sorry I didn't like it, so nice :) And this is one big coffee place, very chill sfeer, not your usual small crowded hipster coffee place. And it's pretty close from Vondel Park :) You will be seeing more of me and my friends there, I always take my friends in the places I love.

Caffènation is your new place to be in Amsterdam if you are in need of a good flat white or any other cup of coffee. The cafe recently opened near the Hoofddorplein and is already getting very popular with the locals. I totally get why, since Bert makes a delicious coffee and is also a very cool guy who is in for a little chat. The good reputation of their Antwerp location also does not hurt at all. Antwerp location? Well yes, Caffènation is a much loved coffeeshop in Antwerp. We are very lucky that Bert fell in serious love with a Dutch girl because that is what brought him here! And now he owns the Caffènation location here in Ansterdam. Cool stuff right? Coffee lovers will really enjoy the big drinks menu at this place which offers a lot of different choices like cappuccino and espresso but also more adventurous drinks like a 'Ginger Spice' or a 'Bitter Moon'. Last few times I went with a flat white (like usual, they are my favorite!) and that tasted great. The space is quite big and has a lot of cosy spots to sit. You can even come over with a group of friends since in the downstairs area are a lot of seats. Great right?! Not so crowded like most city center spots and a way nicer and more personal vibe. I can imagine this place would do great for working or studying as well. Just go soon because i'm sure this place be discovered by the big crowds soon!

Lovely specialty cafe, clean nice design. Space is divided on two levels, like a loft, tables, sofas and chairs, very relaxing. Friendly service. Had a cappucino and it was good, will have to go back try the other ones and different coffees available.

We came here yesterday because the good reviews from Yelp but it was closed so we came again today. So worthy! The cappuccino is the best we ever have! Order cappuccino and the ginger & spice. We will definitely come back again!

Best coffee in Amsterdam :) very friendly staff, and if you want something refreshing, try the Italian Soda, it's amazing. Coffee here is brewed in Antwerp, they have some seats outside which is nice on a sunny day. Beware they might close earlier on summer or not open on heat wave days.

Being such a big fan of Antwerp's Caffènation, I almost cried of joy when I read there was a second location coming up in Amsterdam. And while we were already tired of minimalistic cafes that look like libraries, this place is probably the most charismatic bar in town. Bright, colourful, with a different menu, TOP coffee and the atmosphere is great. So bad that I live on the other side of the city and therefore I can't go as often as I'd want.

Coolste koffieplek. Koffie is zoals ie al jaren in hippe kringen wordt gedronken; beetje zuur, beetje bloemig, licht gebrande bonen. Niet helemaal mijn ding. Maar wel echt goede koffie. De bitter moon (espresso met beetje bittere chocolade) vind ik wel te gek en de melk varianten zijn ook echt heel goed. Filterkoffie moet ik nog eens proberen...

I would say, by far, this is my favorite coffee spot in Amsterdam. The fact there is a 'help yourself' filter coffee is AMAZING! And they will make you a RED EYE!!!! If you are a caffeine junkie... this is your place. Not to mention the barista really knows his stuff. On a second note, the atmosphere is fun, chill and always inviting. Also, there is always good music at this place... Always! Seriously, it is a must go.

If you're looking for a low key relaxed vibe while drinking great coffee then Caffeination is your spot. Bert is the coolest dude, super friendly and had the best recommendations. Can't wait to go back for the atmosphere, coffee and to try their cakes- they looks scrumptious but sadly sold out by the time I got around to order. Next time then!

I misjudged this place which at first seemed decent but not great. This has been my lifeline here in Amsterdam for two months. The staff is incredibly friendly. The coffee is consistently great.

We stopped here randomly while on a long walk, and without doing our research beforehand. We had no idea we'd stumbled into a really special cafe! The coffee selection and quality was excellent. I had a Ginger Spice (a cappuccino with honey and ginger powder artfully arranged on top), my mom had a Bitter Moon (espresso with bitter chocolate and cinnamon) - both delicious. The location is close to the Rembrandtpark and to the bridge over the Schinkel that leads to the Vondelpark. Good spot for people watching. Also noticed the downstairs area is kid-friendly. There's a special play nook, so looks like families are welcome.

I had a really nice latte on the sidewalk here a few weekends ago. The staff are attentive but the atmosphere is very chill. Lots of cozy places to sit inside.

There's some great filtered coffee for those of you craving that here in Europe, but all great coffee drinks all around. The Chaser is great combo for those who want a fantastic cappuccino but also want a bit of espresso. Very friendly staff always answering questions of visitors.

Awesome environment to have a cup of coffee, nice outdoor seating and downstairs set up. I had an iced latte and it was great, the staff are really friendly and there are even jars of cookies on the tables that you can have for free!
