Caffenation

Fine coffee, used for coworking, can be pretty loud. Reply to the owner, 07.07.2025: it IS used as coworking by many and so produces lots of noise. It WAS NOT used as coworking by me, but as a cafe.

Love the quick service...by the time you have ordered and paid the people behind present your coffee, its amazing. Just please renovate and clean the bathrooms, have also maybe some healthier or sugar free/gluten free treats...then you will be perfect. Love the drinks though

Lovely coffee and very nice interiors! I've enjoyed staying inside since the outside is very close to the street. The coffee was great and loved it when they had little biscuits available.

One of the best coffee I had. It has outside area next to the street and large inside with comfortable sittings. You need to order and pay at the entrance and there is no table service. But one of the only places that offers water in Antwerp for free. The only one actually that I know. Also at the exit there is jar of cookies to grab for free. The service is extremely nice, professionally trained and fast. There have pastries at the counter. Lovely place for a coffee. Definitely will go to my coffee places list.

Among Antwerp’s rich coffee scene, Caffènation is definitely one of the leading spots as it’s roasting business supply’s many other cafes in town. This coffee shop is located right at the end of the Sunday market in town, a stone throw away from the main square car park as well. Easy access but away from tourists. When we arrived it’s pretty busy but we were still pretty lucky to get a table overlooking the lower floors. It’s full of happy young to mid age customers enjoying coffee and chat in a colourful relaxing atmosphere. As a roaster, their coffee menu is fairly extensive with nice quality. One of the best tastes offered in town. What I liked most is how their interpretation of the traditional European way of serving coffee. Instead of having biscuits coming with coffee cups, they provide a big jar of yummy biscuits at the water station so when taking water, customers are welcomed to grab a few if they like. I simply couldn’t stop eating the biscuits. This is definitely a spot I’d like to come back to more.

I loved cappuccino in Caffènation they have very good bland of arabica. During the corona they didn’t make any food like sandwiches, they had only some pastry like croissant and pan-chocolate. But I enjoyed this breakfast time anyway! Highly recommend this place if you love coffee ☕️

Excellent coffee! Also the sort of croissant but with the shape of a pain au chocolates (??) was really good. It’s a very big place so you will always find a table and seems a really nice place to work a few hours from. Managed to buy some really nice beans from Kenya. Nice selection of coffee to bring home.

Amazing Atmosphere. very good coffee. Rob has been a Coffee pioneer for a long time in Antwerp. Come in drink some nice Doppio espresso or filter coffee & enjoy the local atmosphere. You can find me at the bar very regularly. Golden Tip : Ask for a Dorica (Double Ristretto Cappuccino. All barista's are eager to help you out with all your coffee questions. Awesome place...these guys really know their coffee...they guided to select the type of coffee beans for a friend of mine. Their customer service and coffee quality are equally exceptional...highly recommending this place!

Caffènation will always be my favorite coffee café in Antwerp. It was the first one I discovered when I moved and although I like exploring other coffees thoughout the city, I always come back to Caffènation. When I first started visiting, they were located in small cozy building on Hopland. You had to have a bit of luck if you wanted to enjoy your coffee inside and even more luck to find space in the garden. But now, on the Mechelsesteenweg, there is a lot more space! And a variety of spaces. On the first floor you can sit close to the baristas or choose to sit in the back room filled with comfy chairs and couches. And on the second floor you have an open area with tables and can work on a project, enjoy the view, or chat with a friend. In addition to enjoying your cup of coffee, you can also buy beans roasted by Caffènation to enjoy at home. They offer espresso, filter, and decaf blends. For 32 euros you can buy a sampler of 6 to try out what they have to offer!

One of the best coffee shops I have been to In Europe. Relaxing and inviting even for this 50+ Solo traveler. Staff helpful and friendly. Coffee treated with the respect it deserves.

Incredible coffee! I would give the coffee a ten, the service a three, and the food choices a 1. If you are a coffee connoisseur do go!! Brought some beans home with me and really enjoying the coffee!

Didn't I post a review about my coffee temple of worship yet???? Ok sit down and listen. Caffènation is the absolute not-to-miss slap-me-silly-call-me-daisy BEST address for coffee. Forget about everything you know about coffee and forget about the coffee you drink at Starbucks, okay? This kind of coffee changes the rules entirely. It may take some getting used to but you can always start with a simple sugared latte to taste the difference and change to filters later, when you're ready ;-) With their own brand of coffee which they also sell to a selection of coffee serving places that appreciate quality, they are Antwerp's founding fathers of the slow coffee trend. Let's call it movement, even. Antwerp has seen a sudden 'rise of the slow coffee places' following the success of Caffènation: like Normo, Broer Bretel, Kolonel, Kornel, and more. I can't say I know enough about coffee to fully grasp how great these guys are but I LOVE their coffee. Something else that makes it so much fun to be here is the total craziness of barista Bert and the loveliness of barista Joke. Without their magical sense of humor, the place would be completely different.

Great Coffee place. Doppio expresso is amazing and has wonderful taste. Just a bit noisy and long wait times other than that amazing atmosphere.

Great chill out spot! Their coffees are supernice as well as their ice teas and chai lattes. When you have nothing to do and want to hang out or work with a perfect stream of coffee coming your way: this is the place to be. Locationwise it's right next to the nationale bank, where you can catch many buses or trams, so a great way to start or end your trip.

Since my bofriend is italian, I just know how a good coffee is supposed to taste ;o) . Ask him, he will tell you the same : in Antwerp, Caffènation has the best coffee !! Voilà, that's all that matters...

Caffènation is a nice coffee place in Antwerp with speciality coffee. I went for a strong espresso roast with a pepper chocolate served on the side. The combination was really good, a concept other coffee places should get inspired by. It's a wait-on coffee place, but if you want to be waited-on quickly, you may want to order at the bar.

Five things I learned at the coffee workshop at Caffènation: 1. Slow coffee is good coffee 2. Making a good espresso at home is not worth the hassle, get it at a (good) coffee place 3. Stir your espresso before you drink it 4. Ask for arabica beans, not robusto 5. The staff at Caffènation is very knowledgeable and helpful

Caffènation is my favourite cafe on Earth for already 6 years. I loved the old location with its garden and their laid back interior but I recently went to the "new" one and even though it is completely different, you could see they got more "mature" and it wasn't disappointing at all. With 3 floors and plenty of seating space, I would highly recommend grabbing a seat on the third floor very early in the morning. This is a specialty coffee place, so don't expect a wide variety of sweets or things to eat, just enjoy the coffee. These guys really know their shit.

Excellent coffee. Ample seating (choice of stools, bistro-style chairs and couches) relaxed atmosphere. Good place to do some light work, read a magazine or just take a coffee break by yourself or with some friends. It takes a while before my order was taken, but it fits the relaxed atmosphere.

I'd been to, and loved, their Amsterdam location, which is fairly tiny but incredibly un-crowded by AMS standards, and so I was amazed to make it to their flagship in Antwerp and discover that it's massive! But also offers the same peerless espresso and pourover, and aeropress and all other manner of coffee laboratory goodies. It manages to be charming despite the scale and I had a great time there, and loved the coffee.

Love this place! Starting with the athmosphere, you immediately feel welcome here by the super friendly staff. A nice chill place where you just want to hang out. Adding to that the best coffee I've had in Belgium, it's a must whenever in Antwerp, including some of their iwn roasted beans to take home.

Simply the best in Antwerp. Very smooth roast so no bitter aftertaste. The location features outdoor seating and a great indoor seating selection. Lovely cakes as well. Great coffee in a great setting. Cute baristas too!

Excellent, excellent coffee, friendly staff, free wifi. What a great place! There are a ton of tables for working on your laptop, seats outside for soaking up the sun, or comfy couches to curl up with a good book.

For my husband and I this is the best coffee shop in the world. Eclectic would be an understatement. Wonderful cappuccino's with hand made designs on top of animals. Free wifi. Not trendy furniture, just comfy. Full of interesting people enjoying their day. The coffee is great. Not burned like S-bucks back home.
