The food was absolutely unreal! So delicious and inventive I thought it was very cool that they incorporated traditional bush tucker and it was so tasty and had great presenty. Nice place and great service!

Google
Very good coffee and western fusion cafe food in this cafe. Filter coffee is really good. Very good quality coffee beans. Kimchi fried rice is very tasty. Big breakfast is huge, perfect for meat lover. Perfectly fried potatoes. Avocado toast also very nice. Seating are very comfortable. Staff are friendly. No card surcharge, which is huge bonus. Plenty of parking nearby. Public transport available

The breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and well-mannered. The prices were reasonable, making it an all-around great experience in Cairns. Highly recommended!

Google
I tried the truffle mushroom with poached egg, and it was absolutely marvelous. The toast was perfectly crisp at the edges, providing a delightful contrast to the creamy, well-seasoned mushrooms infused with the rich aroma of truffle oil. The combination was simply excellent, making for a thoroughly enjoyable breakfast.

Loved our meals we had the morning glory's and it was delicious. Our waiter was absolutely amazing he was friendly, quick and so nice. We had 2 people doing business work opposite us and we really enjoyed listening to them about some cool experiences and it added to the urban vibe. We will definetly be coming back. Well done x

Google
visited this coffee and bfast spot after seeing a rec on reddit, and what a treat! my first time in australia and so far the food has been underwhelming, so i wasn’t sure what to expect. and omg, what an amazing meal!!! the flat white was delicious and the french toast was by far the most delicious thing i’ve had on my trip to australia. and the service was excellent and attentive. i wish i could stay longer because id probably be here daily!

Jamie Sanglay

Google
Service was topnotch, food was even better. I love how friendly and attentive the crew were. If you want a good brunch, this is the place to be.

It’s so hard to find a good coffee in Carins, but here have the best coffee and gorgeous baristas!!!!🥹👏🏼

Yelp
Had a chance to try a Fresh and fun brunch with the husband while in Cairns and this was a great spot and find! Once we sat down, thankfully we were seated pretty much immediately. This is a cute spot that we were lucky to find - and would definitely call it pretty instagram friendly. For food we ended up ordering: * coconut latte - this was really yummy and I loved the light coconut-y taste * Breakfast plate - this was big plate that came with half an avocado, bacon, bread, eggs, sweet potato, pumpkin purée and a salady goodness. I really enjoyed every bite as it was very fresh and all the different flavors came really well together. Overall, fantastic experience! I would definitely recommend this spot to others!

Yelp
Over our five-day stay in Cairns, we came to Caffiend for breakfast/brunch for three of those days! That's how good it was to us. Love the name too! As the name suggests, the espresso drinks here were really good. Solid, tasty drinks. We had both latte and cappuccino across our three visits; we also tried their home-made house-made coconut syrup also, which was good. While all were good, my favorite was still what the young man recommended to us on our first day there: a simple ice latte w/oat milk. We came here for sit-down brunch for two of the days, and grabbed a quick pastry to-go on one of the days (which we ended up enjoying there also since tables were available). We enjoyed the dine-in food much more. Both the avocado toast and the morning glory were absolutely delicious. Fair warning: the morning glory is a lot of food; on our 3rd visit, the two of us shared that for brunch, and we were plenty full. The vibe here is neighborhood friendly. Definitely a popular spot, especially on the weekends, but over the three times we were there, we managed to grab a table without needing to wait. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the excellent service: all three times we were there, service was lovely; folks were lovely, super friendly, and ensured we were well taken care of. Thank you!

Yelp
Visiting Cairns during our honeymoon. Enjoyed graffiti alley while sipping on our coffees. Ordered a coconut caramel latte and coconut caramel milkshake.

Tiffany G.

Yelp
My friends really enjoyed their morning glories. It looked like an English breakfast without the baked beans. I tried the slice of grilled pumpkin that came with it and it was super good. For myself, I just ordered their chili jam toast. It was okay. Morning glory was definitely better...but much heavier. They also have free WiFi! How nice!

Hansel B.

Yelp
Good spot for brunch. The location is cool, down a small alley with a graffiti wall. The menu is great. I would recommend the salmon brekky or the chili eggs. I tasted the miso scramble, but the mix of flavors didn't do it for me. They have a wide selection of coffee and some natural beverages. the staff is pretty friendly and attentive, they have some nice background music and art on display (I assume they rotate the art since its for sale). If you are visiting Cairns, I would def. recommend this place for breakfast. Keep in mind the menu changes after lunch.

Danielle G.

Yelp
This place is awesome! It's very busy and we were lucky to walk right in. The coffee is brewed by a place called tattooed sailor and omg it's so good! We almost bought some to bring back to the states. I had a cold brew and ended up buying another one because it was so great. My hubby had a long black and liked his as well. The food was sooooo good and filling. My husband got the breakfast burger and it was delicious. I got the smoked salmon beetroot and it was amazing. Think eggs Benedict on a piece of sourdough with a cream sauce instead of hollandaise and add beets. So darn good. I would eat it for breakfast everyday if I could!! Really great staff and help. Fast service and nice! Prices are okay. A bit expensive for breakfast but it's worth it!

Jon P.

Yelp
The coffee is quite decent, the tap water comes in a wine bottle filled to the top, and the pastry is served with a VERY fancy silver fork. I can even take real slices of fresh banana in the banana bread. That's a first! Plus, I LOVE the name. All in a relaxed contemporary atmosphere, with pleasant, personable staff. I'll come back here. Hopefully. The last time I was in Cairns was 18 years ago. Maybe this place will be here 18 years from now.

Al L.

Yelp
I was in Cairns for a few days and this place had the best coffee and brunch food. The place doesn't seem to fit into the vibe of tropical Cairns. Its got a clean, modern, and even hipstery feel to it. Too bad we came here on our last day, otherwise we would've probably have come here every day. I had the brekkie burger and it was delicious. I typically expect breakfast burgers to be very heavy but this was fresh but still very satisfying. Customer service was pretty good and I was able to do split bills, which isn't always the case in Australia.

Mel T.

Yelp
Caffiend has got some pretty impressive graffiti art going on outside. Even if you don't go for the food, you should make your way around there just to check it out. But I really think you should go for the food. I mean you did just trek all the way over there right? Might as well go an enjoy a cup of coffee too while you're at it! I chose a 'build-a-brekky', which is 2 poached eggs on 2 pieces of sourdough toast ($8.90) and added on some bacon ($5.50) because come on...what's breakfast without some bacon? Plus, they give you a pretty hefty portion. So hefty that, dare I even say it - it was TOO much bacon? Just kidding! Let's not be silly. There's no such thing as too much bacon! But it did get a bit much at one point. So I stole the house-made chili jam from my friend's dish (since it was too spicy for her anyway) and it helped negate some of the greasiness and complemented my food perfectly. To wash it all down, I ordered the caramel coconut latter ($4.40) that everyone seems to be raving about. I'm not normally a fan of caramel or sweet drinks but it sounded unique, so I wanted to try it. It was definitely too sweet for me but I'm still glad I tried it. I liked the coconut flavor in it. One thing I thought they could have changed was the AC situation. As in get one, or if there is one, turn it on! If you've ever been to Cairns in February, you would know exactly what I'm talking about. But the food was so good that it almost made up for the fact that I was sweating my face off. So Caffiend, I would sit in humid 93 degree weather for you any day. (but no seriously, please turn on the AC next time)

Nancy L.

Yelp
Got a chance to check out this place on our visit to Cairns, and glad we went w/ the recommendation! Great place for brunch! Coffee was good, but standout was the food. I got the salmon & beetroot which was smoked salmon on a smashed avocado toast with 2 poached eggs and beetroot relish - it was one of the best avocado toast salmon combos I have eaten! The beet relish with it went together so well and egg was perfectly runny. The whole thing was delicious! Too bad we didn't have another chance to get it a second time! If you're in Cairns, be sure to try this out - definitely recommend!

Pritika C.

Yelp
Good service and delicious food. Haven't eaten out a lot in Cairns but as far as I'm concerned this is the best breakfast spot in town. Delicious menu with plenty of options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. I ordered the avo and feta toast with halloumi and chili jam on the side. Best thing ever. And very filling. The drinks are equally delicious - I ordered a pot of soy chai and was tempted to order a second but managed to restrain. I hope to make it back again before I leave Cairns.

Yelp
Slow service but very good. Loved the Lemon Meringue pancakes

Yelp
This was a great find as it reminded me of Melbourne as I made my way down the alleyway along the street art and into the cute cafe. 8am was a bit early for loud hip hop music but I dug the cool vibe. Coffee came in a glass which I still don't understand when it's piping hot but it looked good and needed a little sugar to go down smooth. Then came the eclectic menu. I was impressed and decided to try the miso scramble. Somehow the flavour profile fit the bill, the bonito pairing well with miso and added smoked salmon on the side. The slaw I could have done without and just pile on more seaweed salad to go with the avocado. Overall a respectable dish and quite a large serve. This place stays busy and is easy to see why. Service is quick and friendly. I like how there are these cool things about an otherwise touristy city to really add an Aussie touch.

Mira S.

Yelp
Very good flat white, with a strong coffee flavor but not bitter. It wasn't too foamy like some I've had. The breakfast menu has about 10 choices and they're decently varied. I didn't want a big breakfast, so I just got sourdough toast with their housemate preserves, which were strawberry. The toast was good and crunchy, although it could have used a bit less butter to keep the crunch, and I'm used to butter in the side. The preserves were a bit runny, so they were hard o get into a knife, but there were easy to spread. I like the openness of the space, and the fact that one side opens in an alley full of cool graffiti. The fact that it's down an alley means it's much quieter than places fronting on a Main Street. You may not stumble upon it, but maps apps have it. They play calming music loud enough to keep you out of other tables' conversations, but not obnoxiously loud.

Greg P.

Yelp
Wow! Fantastic food and service! Being from the States, I asked my Uber driver for local recommendations. He recommended this place for the coffee. One of the reviews suggested trying the coconut latte. I paired that with the day's special, Eggs Benedict with Spinach. First sip and bite put me in paradise!

Tai W.

Yelp
Great brunch spot in the backpacker area, BUT situated in a quiet alley way with tons of graffiti. Reliable wifi, good service and decent food - the ideal cafe. Morning glory - this is the ultimate hungry man meal and boy was I not ready for this. Below are the items this platter consists of: -tons of bacon -garlic bread -salad -2 poached eggs -sweet potato -another potato -tomatoes -happiness and food coma

Matt M.

Yelp
Eating here was a remarkable experience! The service is impeccable and the food deliciously spectacular. I will be back.

Karen Y.

Yelp
One of the most popular coffee places in town, Caffiend lives up to its reputation. Its location is down an alleyway, connected to other stores on the inside, but it makes it feel like you're looking for treasure. The cafe has a nice vibe, there's plants, the decor fits well together and the tables and chairs are so adorable. Service is great and everyone was really friendly! I would definitely go again.

Florence L.

Yelp
This place is located in an alleyway but it's a cute hidden place. I didn't want a heavy breakfast so I ordered the avocado and feta toast, which was pretty decent. I'm not sure if it's because I'm from America and my experience of waitstaff being very attentive, but the service here was pretty laid-back to me. The great thing about their laid-back attitude was that we never felt rushed to leave even after finishing our meal. I'd come back if I was in the area!

Patricia K.

Yelp
For coffee, get the coconut latte. Delicious!! The cappuccino was okay. The food is so delicious. Tasted the Salmon Brekkie, Miso Scrambled with smoked salmon, and Morning Glory. All good. The Miso Scrambled was impressive. All the meat, veggies, and eggs were perfectly done. Highly recommend this place. In an alley with cool graffiti and comfy seating

Rebekka K.

Yelp
Haven't been to many brunch places in cairns yet, but this is definitely going to be one of my favourites. Perfect location close to the esplanade, but hidden away from the tourists. Relaxed atmosphere with cool people. The menu consists of several healthy choices of breakfast/brunch, and you can choose among dishes with salad, muesli, egg, bacon, pumpkin+++. I recommend "morning glory", perfect if you want big brunch, and muesli if you want a light and healthy breakfast. I am definitely coming back here!

Brittany C.

Yelp
This place is in an alleyway, which is a little bit unexpected for a coffee shop. To be a bit more accurate, it's actually accessible via two separate alleyways on two different streets. Once you find one of the correct alleyways and walk in, you're greeted with colorful graffiti and a relaxed, hipster vibe. The drink menu and brunch menu are both fairly extensive, perfect for the large group of friends I was with: there were seven of us and we each enjoyed a different caffeinated beverage. The brunch options are mostly some variation of cooked eggs, meat, carbs, and (possibly) vegetables. I ordered the Morning Glory, mostly because I really wanted the roasted pumpkin, which did not disappoint! The rest of the dish was a nice balance of flavors and textures: poached eggs, bacon (really more like ham), and roasted vegetables. Several of my friends ordered the Miso Scrambled Eggs and Salmon, which was a savory and hearty dish... Never imagined miso would go well with scrambled eggs! The prices are a bit on the high side for brunch items, but you're in Cairns so loosen up -- you're probably on vacation anyway! Great place to enjoy a relaxed and delicious brunch in this tropical resort town.

Yelp
Coming from the states I am use to various brew methods... Cold brew, aeropress, Chemex, etc... While most coffee joints in Australia make espresso based drinks (lattes, cappuccino, etc.,). This place has them all!! This makes Caffiend suitable for people from all around the world who make their coffee differently. Yesterday I had a cold drip (aka iced toddy, or cold brew) and it was fantastic. This was brewed with a Yama, or Japanese cold brew setup (impressive), which is out on their table for you to look at. After my meal I had a shot of espresso (short black), and it was delightful. My fiancé enjoyed the coconut latte with her meal. The food was awesome! We had the chilli eggs (add avocado and bacon) and the morning glory. We will probably be coming back before leaving Cairns.

Jean B.

Yelp
Oh lovely little cafe, hidden down an alleyway. Still my beating Melbourne girl heart. A little piece of Melbourne has move into this spot in Cairns. Good coffee matched with a good brunch menu. Rough up cycled decor there's not much else to say. Like most tourist hot spots in town it's an order and pay at the counter and no bathroom inside the venue. Understandable if not a little bit frustrating at times.

Brydon W.

Yelp
Fantastic customer service. Kitchen still under construction so can't comment on food but the coffee was great. Couple of young baristas in training and what I presume was the owner providing guidance. Will definately visit again when in Cairns. Overall the town has a great coffee scene, will be a hard choice from now on with this place and blackbird only a couple of doors away! Might have to double up on the coffee intake!

Yugeindran N.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee and breakfast. Key points: coconut caramel coffee and design your own breaky

Kiran K.

Yelp
Serving up unique breakfast plates with a focus on quality of ingredients, as well as a stellar coffee lineup and barista staff, Caffiened is a fantastic spot for breakfast in Cairns. Plates are well portioned and I feel the food is certainly worth is value. This place is a real gem in a city with a lot of touristy offerings so I'm really happy to have found this restaurant. I prefer my coffee black and I was really pleased with the Americano (i.e. Long Black) I got. Nice dark roast and strong flavors but was still smooth and easy to drink. The pastry selection was vast and you could really taste the freshness in some of the cakes, meaning you could tell they're not pastries that sit around for more than a day. To top it off, the staff was all super enthusiastic and devoted appropriate attention to the customer. Come here while in Cairns.

Mitchell L.

Yelp
Caffiend is an excellent breakfast spot. I ordered the coconut latte (which I saw mentioned on reviews but not on the main menu) and the miso scramble breakfast the first time I went. The coconut flavour in the latte was subtle which was perfect as I was concerned it would be overpowering given the aromas. The miso scramble was new to me as they were able to mix japanese miso flavor into their scrambed eggs. While this was an interesting choice, I do have to admit the miso tastes gets a bit overwhelming (salty) near the end of the dish. The second time I went, I once again ordered the coconut latte and the kid's bacon and eggs since I wasn't too hungry. The kid's portion was surprisingly larger than expected and the poached egg was cooked to perfection as it was still all liquid inside! Service was great and they also have a few seats outside which I'd recommend if the weather was nice. Overall great breakfast spot!

Victoria C.

Yelp
Tucked away in a little alleyway, with a breezy verandah & a seriously great selection of breakfast dishes, Caffeind did not disappoint. The cafe itself is pretty small & was quite busy even for a Tuesday morning when I arrived so I could envisage it being flat out on the weekend. They only had one waitress who was running around frantically but did a great job getting to everyone in a relatively timely manner. The menu is excellent- heaps of creative spins on breakfast classics to choose - from chilli eggs or pancakes to granola or a full of greens brekky which I had & thought was delicious!! The coffee while not amazing was still very good. Price wise, Caffeind is on the higher end of the spectrum (but this could be normal for Cairns- I'm going off Melbourne cafes) but the food did not disappoint so it was well worth it for me!

Julie L.

Yelp
Thanks Yelp, you've saved this foodie/vego/coffee snob yet again! After wandering aimlessly last night searching for something pretty enough for my palate (Yelp was frustratingly not giving any results for the search terms I was a attempting. This is why our work is SO important- we are pioneers! Forging ahead and suffering through small country town coffees, white vinegar salad dressings and thick based pizzas for the benefit of all of humankind...) Where was I... so Yelp sent me here. Imagine my delight when I saw that caffeind is located in a " graff alley" (called... "Graff Alley). Dodgy street art adorns the laneways and people sit on milk crates. Just the way I like it. Today's crate-sitters were lycra clad (horrible clothing aside, bicyclists do always seem to be where the good coffee is at) My coffee was good! (soy pic, always a good challenge) I had the mixed mushrooms, wilted spinch & balsamic reduction with goat's cheese. The presentation was immaculate. Extra points for not making me ask for butter or have to mix things around myself- it was all ON the toast & ready to aim straight at my gaping maw. I asked for fresh chilli & they gave me beautiful slices of fresh chilli on top just like I asked for! (This should not be surprising but you'd be surprised how many cooks don't "get" fresh chilli add ons!). The chilli wasn't hot but that's not their fault, no points deducted. I'll probably try somewhere else tomorrow (spotted somewhere last night that does a veg breakie with fallafel!) but come here for my coffee.

Nick B.

Yelp
Nice spot with a few good options for breakfast. Not overly busy at 8am and mostly locals

Roberto L.

Yelp
Absolutely spectacular!! Great coffee, delicious food, and friendly service! By far, best customer service we've received here in Australia by any restaurant / food vendor.

Robert T.

Yelp
Awesome coffee and nice menu. Poached eggs with chili jam... Awesome. "French toast" is toasted banana walnut bread with bananas and ice cream on top. Decaf is a bit bland. Flat white very nicely done with creamy steamed milk. They also offer Aeropress.

Shahadat H.

Yelp
Great brunch. Huge portions and lots of choice. As others have mentioned, a little pricey, but you are on holiday and want some good food so it's definitely worth it. Had the poached eggs and added the mushrooms and salmon (both of which were great). They warned me that it would be a big meal but that's exactly what I needed. Could probably be shared between two. Only thing missing was some fresh juice, but they only have that on weekends. Nevertheless, you should definitely check this place out. FYI I walked past it twice. It's down an alley where the spot on google maps says it is.

Zach T.

Yelp
The awesomeness of somewhat alternative themed Caffiend is hard to measure. Needless to say I've lived in cairns for nearly 10years and this has become our standard breaky hangout. Good coffee. Great service. Can't fault it!

Kristy C.

Yelp
Great food, great services, the food is so fresh and tastes so yum. I hope I can be in cairns again next time and try it again

Ted M.

Yelp
Great food and great atmosphere. We had a long black, Morning Glory and Avocado with Feta. Table service was quick and efficient. Fueled up for a full day of hiking ahead

Xia Z.

Yelp
Not a good breakfast. My wife and I shared a Morning Glory. The potato taste ok but was a bit cold, pumpkin's good, bread toasted terrible, and bacon is just soso. The waitress is bit cold.m Overall, not so good.

Alan B.

Yelp
Food was good but the price did not justify the quality not to mention they charged an extra $3.00 to fry my eggs!!

habu w.

Yelp
Very good food. Service ok. Had avocado toast and muesli. A bit expensive taking the size of servings into account. Anyway, 5 stars, because location, atmosphere and great music.

Justin C.

Yelp
everything ordered was delicious. banana espresso shake (add a shot), BLT, coffee Tacos. BLT: rarely does aus actually make the 'bacon' crispy such like the states. this joint does it well. I am more impressed, however, that I looked forward to biting into the thick grilled tomato. mmmm. compliments to the chief. Tacos: lightly coffee flavor; just right really, because one is typically drinking a coffee along side the meal. meat was slow roasted and delicious. paired perfectly with the arugula. it's a legit joint I'd come back for sure! I'm actually going to tell the concierge at my hotel, not to recommend it to out of towners, but for him and his homies.

Chelsea C.

Yelp
This place is absolutely perfect. It exceeded my expectations! For our brief trip in Cairns, I was craving brunch-y food hard. We came across this place on Yelp and I came across it on Trip Advisor a few nights before. We arrived and found the beautiful graffiti and realized the restaurant was in an alley way! How cool! This place 100% instagrammable which is A+ in my book. Our server even complemented the photo I took of our meals. Food was mouth watering. And they let us split the bill, which is a plus. I wish there were more Caffiends around and that they had one in The States! Probably my favorite brunch place I've had in Australia so far :)

Peter P.

Yelp
OMG this place is the tits. The avocado and feta must have been created when the Lord himself came down from his throne and blessed creation with this masterpiece.

Gosia Z.

Yelp
If your lucky, you'll get a spot at one of the makeshift tables outside (sitting on a crate of course); otherwise, inside is a bit dark and pretty crowded. That said - there's a reason for that!! This place is pretty darn good - they take a creative and healthier spin on traditional brunch meals. Try: - Miso scrambled eggs (definitely splurg for the salmon and avocado additions). I didn't taste much miso, but the combination of flavours (including some nori on top as garnish - nice touch!) was stellar! - Green brekky. Likely my favourite way of preparing kale (don't be scared off if it's not usually your thing, it's subtle in this dish). Lots of fresh flavours in the dish - mixing eggs, quinoa, zucchini, corn, pomegranate... Who'd of thought?!?

Brooke S.

Yelp
Loved this place. My boyfriend and I stopped in for brekkie. The restaurant is small, but trendy. I liked the seating furniture and decorations. I had a unique coconut latte, and my bf had an iced coffee. Both delicious!! My bf ate the avocado feta with poached eggs on bread. FABULOUS. I ordered the French toast but preferred my bfs.

Matt K.

Yelp
Second time here, wish I found It earlier Great feel, cool atmosphere and great food, truffle scramble yes..

Tristan M. W. S.

Yelp
Caffiend is a very good and individual small breakfast location. If you want to have something special and a very delicate breakfast combined with one of the best coffees you can get - this is your place to be! The whole crew knows how to start the day in a perfect way. We had the french toast and the truffled scramble egg with each a bowl of cappuccino which was absolutely made by a high skilled barista! Everything was great so we thought about having a second breakfast here on our tour ... The Caffiend is definitely worth a visit!

Demi M.

Yelp
First of all, the funky atmosphere... Why hello, yes, I think I'll take a seat and stay for a while! Now, I don't drink coffee and this apparently is the coffee hub of Cairns so I ordered my hot chocolate and can you guess what next? You probably can... The avo toast. You're right I know... White girl central over here. Hear me out ok!? As you've guessed it, this girl has had quite a bit of avo toast in her time but I can honestly say this avo toast shortlisted its way to the top of the list! Not only were my tastebuds in heaven, you actually got value for your money with 3 slices of brioche toast, poached eggs to top, as well as buffalo feta. This truly was the work of the avo gods.

Shane P.

Yelp
Best coffee in Cairns. Solid cafe style breakfast / lunch fare with a continually changing menu
