We spent two nights here and really enjoyed our stay. Our cabana was beautiful and had a cute little room attached with a hammock, which made the space feel extra cozy. For an additional $29, the staff decorated the room for my daughter’s 18th birthday, and it turned out absolutely gorgeous. It was such a sweet surprise for her. The hotel bar outside also had plenty of cocktail options, which was nice to have on-site.
The staff members were all very friendly and helpful. At one point I wanted dessert, but since it was Thanksgiving they weren’t offering the regular menu. They did offer a slice of pie from the buffet for $7, which felt steep for San Ignacio, so I passed.
They also call taxis for guests heading into town, which is a nice touch. It’s a very steep hill, so not ideal for walking the mile down. Taxis can cost between $5-$7 (which they don’t take one dollar bills so round up to $10 if you don’t have BZ on you, which is crazy). Overall everyone we interacted with was kind and welcoming.
A few things to note: the cabana only had a sheet instead of a comforter, though that seems pretty standard for the area. The bathroom door didn’t lock, the water pressure was low, and the warm water didn’t last long for showers.
Overall, it was a good stay with thoughtful touches, but some of the prices and room details felt a bit high for the location.
