It's a wonderful place, partly because so few people go there. Fine views from this interesting archaeological relic and you can stand and speculate what it might have been like to live there 1,400 years ago with the cliff face and the heavy stone walls to protect you from raiders. Having said that, I feel the need to discourage too many people from going, because too many people would spoil the place - so look out for steep tracks and hidden rounded rocks in the path ...

A magnificent and magical place, well worth a visit. Remarkably intact and a great insight into the period, a good path in though uneven in spots and some parking on the road at the entrance.

Great site, 20 minute walk from parking...

Quite an impressive ancient ring fort at the edge of a cliff. You can really imagine how difficult if not impossible it must have been to overtake this fortress. I guess it would have required an extensive siege.

A remote setting in the central Burren. Cahercommaun Triple Stone Fort is dramatically situated on the edge of a cliff, all three of its concentric walls abutting the cliff edge. It's not completely intact but it's all about the majestic historical setting on display here.

You park at someone's house then hike over to this old fort on the side of a cliff. It's a really nice hike through the country side.

Fascinating archeological site. There is a good model at the Burren Center in Kilfenora

If you want to go off the beaten track this is for you. You'll need transport to get to the trail head. The walk in is about 15 mins. There is not much left of the structure but enough to make the journey worthwhile. The real value here is the cliff top views and the journey. My advice... Go to Killmacduagh and from there to Cahercommaun as that road has some spectacular views. Outside of public holidays there is a good chance you'll be there on your own.
