My husband and I stayed at this beautiful property during our stay in Killarney.||At first glance, the hotel is picturesque. A long driveway lined with trees, cast iron tables and chairs placed in the garden, ivy growing along the front right side. Bicycles lined up available to rent.||Parking - about 6-7 spots directly in front, a small lot to the left with room for 8-10 cars, and more parking to the right under the trees. ||Reception Area and Grounds - right after you walk into the hotel, there’s a small reception desk. There’s a large ornate wooden staircase right behind that leads to rooms above. The dining room (Herbert’s) is where breakfast is held, and they have a restaurant as well.||There’s a sitting room with fireplace and large comfy chairs, the drawing room with overflow seating from the dining room, a library with a door leading outside to the front, and another small room with a door leading out to the back of the hotel. Going out the back into the garden, they have stone steps leading down, with several wooden tables and chairs if you choose to sit or eat outside. Sometimes there is morning dew so just be careful when walking on the grass, as you’ll end up with soggy shoes.||Dining - there is breakfast included with some rooms, so take advantage. Trust me, it’s one of the most delicious breakfasts you’ll ever have. I got a full Irish breakfast one day, and eggs royale the next. Eggs royale is an eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and spinach, it’s like heaven on earth. They also have pastries, yogurt, juice, and other items a la carte.||Herbert’s also serves dinner, although we chose to eat elsewhere in town. There is also the Cellar Bar, which is housed in the old wine cellar of the house, and they do have a small menu. We had a drink here late at night, the bartender was friendly. Quiet unless you have a rowdy group nearby.||The room - our room was on the bottom floor (there are two floors of rooms), down a long hallway. The room key is attached to an old paperweight, so imagine carrying that in your pocket. ||The room was perfect. There was a roomy closet with shelving, a safe, iron and hairdryer for your convenience.||Right next to that was a Nespresso machine and an electric kettle, with supplies to make your own tea or coffee. Also some prepackaged biscuits.||A small desk with mirror, Small bureau with TV, a small table with two chairs, and a big sliding door leading to the small patio outside with a cast iron table and chairs.||There’s a large guest book which includes everything about the room and hotel, as well as local attractions and instructions on using the Nespresso machine.||Bed was super comfy, with a couple of woolen blankets lining the bottom.||Bathroom was nice, small but almost perfectly sized for two. Shower is a walk-in (no tub) with a half door, although the water never seemed to venture past the edge. Shower head is not angled, one knob to turn on/off, another knob to adjust temp. There’s also a removable handheld you can use. ||** the towel bar in the bathroom is heated - great for a warm towel after a shower - NOT great to grab onto.||This place was probably the nicest/fanciest places I’ve stayed, but it’s also one of the most beautiful. Perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day in town. 10 minutes to Ross Castle, Muckross estate, downtown shops. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Killarney.
