I am writing to say a huge thank you to Mountain Sports Aviemore and the wonderful young woman who could not have been kinder or more helpful. I was going off for the weekend and catching a connecting coach in Aviemore when I realised early in my journey that my holdall was just too uncomfortable to carry. I am currently on a walking stick with quite severe mobility impairment right now. This young woman, from the moment she engaged with me was superb. She helped me get into the shop in the first place, as the door was too heavy for me to push open. She confirmed that the doors are unusually heavy. I said I had come to see if a rucksack might work better for carrying my things. She sent me to a seat then proceeded to show me a few that may meet my capacity criteria. We quickly established my price range and ten minutes later I walked out of the shop with a wonderful new rucksack on my back, that not only met my capacity and cost criteria but that aligned with my recycling values also. In addition it was co-packed by me and this young woman, and my holdall labelled with my name and held to one side for me to collect on my return. I also got a discount. The whole experience was so inspiring, so emotionally and practically literate, it was a complete experience of having my needs met without compromise and with no sense of personal diminishment either. I don't know what awareness training Cairngorm Mountain Sports give their staff, but this young woman was a credit to herself and the organisation. She knew her products, was discerning and accurate about assessing my needs as an elderly and currently disabled customer and went about meeting them in a totally parallel, efficient and emotionally literate way. So well done and a deep thank you from me.
