We had a great stay at Cairns Colonial Club, it was perfect for our little family of 3 including a toddler. We had a small kitchenette and a second room. The staff were friendly and really helpful, even going above and beyond to replace our voucher that was stolen. The restaurants on the property are good for quick meals and we enjoyed the food. The pools are awesome, our toddler loved playing in the sand on the side of the main pool. The room was a little dark, but that’s the only thing we could fault! It was clean and tidy and the newly renovated bathroom and shower were great. Would stay again!

Great place for families. The staff are super friendly and the pools are incredible. The building infrastructure is getting on a bit but the superior rooms have been renovated well. The restaurants are good, a bit pricey but you pay for the convenience of not having to drive anywhere.

Stayed here with some friends for a night and found it to be very nice for the pricing. Rooms had a nice layout decent size tv. Good amenities in the kitchenette, shower had good pressure and went hot quickly. I also found Karen at reception to be very friendly and helpful in helping me to rebook next month for another trip. Although they are completely booked up she was able to help me find a room at the resorts sister hotel. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place with a pool or if you have kids. The putt putt, coin laundry and hair salon is cool to have all in one place, great to come back to after adventuring around Cairns.

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. I was told by the front desk that I could check in at 8 AM, but when I showed up at that time, two young Asian men at the desk claimed they had no knowledge of this arrangement. They insisted that they don't train their staff to make such promises, but that's simply not true. I was given clear confirmation of this check-in time, so it was frustrating and misleading to be told otherwise. To make matters worse, the staff’s behavior seemed completely vindictive. My room was clearly ready, but for some reason, they refused to let me in. If the room is available, why not let me check in? This felt like an intentional act of poor service, and I can’t help but feel like I was being treated unfairly. Additionally, I witnessed other customers from my same flight being checked in at 5 AM without any issues, but I was told I had to wait until 3 PM to check in. Coincidentally, these customers were also Asian, which only adds to the uncomfortable feeling that there may have been some discriminatory practices at play. I would never recommend this hotel. The lack of professionalism and fairness here is appalling, and I will make sure to share this experience with others.

Prime location and a solid accommodation spot on a budget. Was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the rooms and facilities. 24/7 reception, plenty of free parking and very prompt housekeeping services perfectly summarise this exotic resort!

The Colonial is closer to the airport than to the town. Which was fine, as driving in Cairns is very easy and relaxed. |The hotel, poop area, restaurants, and rooms are pretty basic and could do with some upgrades. But then again, this hotel is pretty cheap for Australia. |The beds are a bit too soft, and the shower pressure in the bathroom is great!|Staff was always friendly. |The hotel is full of kids, so it can be noisy. Again, this wasn't a big deal as we were out all day.|However, there were 2 schools staying as well, and the teenagers made such a racket all night that getting any sleep was hard.|Overall, it is a basic, lower budget option. Don't expect too much.

Great place to take children away on holidays. Plenty space to eat and play. swimming was a big hit with our family. Cheap & Beautiful place with views of the mountains. Was a little expensive for food, but good quick service made it worthwhile for us as a family of 2 adults and 4 children. Recommended as a cheap & fun place for family vacation.

The standard rooms are far too basic - no wine glasses, no bedside/ambient lighting (only bright white downlighting), and some of the equipment e.g the kettle we received was not working. Also it should be noted that there are often large groups of children e.g school trips - that can be very noisy and disturbing. However the superior rooms, which we upgraded to, were really nice. The pools are great. Though the main pool is often a little bit too noisy in the day with loads of kids playing. Some of the other pools however are way more relaxing (with a nice little waterfall and cave with jacuzzi in). The staff service we received was really good in general. It's close to the Botanical Gardens which is convenient, and an uber/Didi into Cairns is only $12-$25. I wouldn't personally stay in a standard room if travelling as a couple - they are far too basic - but would recommend the superior rooms. The bar is also quite a good price and lively, but shuts a bit early.

Yelp
They let locals take over and the locals stand over the people who book in they steal the tables that booked in people have n the staff do nothing about it locals are more important to room bookings charge people for rooms n treat them like they are crap n they kiss the locals ass do not book in there as you will be treated like crap over the locals stop the locals using the pools n carports won't get my 700 dollars anymore will be going somewhere that's respects there bookings

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE. It doesn't look like the pics. It's super basic. My room had no decor and stains everywhere. The carpet had rips, and the free WiFi didn't work. It takes A LOT to get me to complain too. The staff were lovely though.

Yelp
I stayed here after purchasing a deal found on hotels.com. I have been very displeased with this "resort". First, the pictures on the property are drastically misleading...the singular item that didn't disappoint was the pool/beach area. My deal advertised in-room cable (only 5 channels were available), breakfast buffet (this was a joke: old fruit, runny scrambled eggs, bacon not cooked, miso soup!!!), available wi-fi (they wanted $5 per hour, no flare rates available), a fitness center (was closed my entire stay because "I'm not sure, it's just closed"...this is seriously what I was told) and several dining options (included a pool side bar and restaurant, neither great or keeping hours thought the day). I'm not giving it 1-star for two reasons: the majority of the staff was super helpful and nice and the rooms, although shabby and dated, were clean.

Yelp
Wifi is not free.It need 10dollars one day.Boss is so poor that need 10dollars to keep his life.I suggest that travelers don't book this resort. It's far away from the city centre and many insects in your room. This resort must be close down in the future.
