Cairns Plaza Hotel

Booked the hotel thinking it would be nice for almost 300 for 1 night but upon arriving to the room it definitely wasn't worth 300 a night plus 100 securitydeposit, the description said Mountain view but looking out the window to the balcony all u see if the hotel next to u. Tried cooling off with a swim but the pool water felt more like bath water, plus purchased the room mainly so I could have a smoke without leaving the room only to find out u cannot smoke on the property at all. Wasn't sure in the fridge in the room actually worked, ac didn't feel very cool even tho I had it on 16 degrees as soon as I arrived. Fair walk from the city, all in all I did not have a good experience with

Good location and staff were welcoming. Clean rooms and adequate space for two. Lovely toiletries. Good shower pressure but the floor got quite wet with the half screen. Didn’t use the pool as it was very hot and there was no shade. Breakfast at Muddy’s was yummy and you get a 10% discount as a hotel guest.

The location of the hotel is very good. It is located on the Esplanade, where many restaurants and shops are operating there. The room is clean and with a reasonable space for 2 people. The tiles in the toilet and bathroom are not so clean. I think it may be a little bit common for aged hotels. The bedroom is very clean.

The rooms are ok but the hotel itself is old. The bathroom door is broken. The air-conditioning remote needs replacing. There is no vent in the toilet. We booked a room with a view but we did not get that. The room cleaners are lazy and do not clean properly. The shower curtain is brownish yellow and dirty. It is noisy especially in the afternoon with some drilling in the other room. The sugar provided are old and clumpy. Location wise, it is a bit far from the centre. Better stay in a closer hotel. Pool is small with no toilet around the area.

This is obviously not a luxury hotel stay; my husband and I opted for a mid-range hotel as we would be out and about for the majority of our time in Cairns. However, this was a comfortable, spacious, centrally located hotel with free parking and quiet enough that we were well rested for our adventures in the Frankland Islands and Kuranda the following days. Location was also excellent - right on the esplanade, so it had gorgeous sunrise views and was perfect for morning and evening strolls. This hotel also has the added benefit of giving a small discount at and being close to Muddys-- best breakfasts and coffees!! Thanks to Adrian at the front desk for the warm welcome and recommendations for what to do in Cairns!

This hotel was the best place to stay. As long as the rooms are spacious with a nice view and a nice customer services that’s what’s makes us happy. Had a happy stay . Nice view and nearby markets in a walkable distance. Receptionist were all friendly and welcoming . Highly recommend this hotel.

I escaped north to Cairns for a few days off and to escape winter for some sunshine and warmth. The Cairns Plaza Hotel is across the street from the ocean (so great views) and a great cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is within walking distance of the Cairns shopping precinct and a myriad of great restaurants. The staff are lovely and helpful. The rooms were really clean and the decor is lovely and welcoming. I had a great view of the pool from my room - it's new and looks fantastic and inviting. The owners (who were on site during my stay) are engaging and could not do enough to make sure my stay was comfortable and memorable. I would definitely recommend the Cairns Plaza Hotel and absolutely visit again.

We had a 10 min drive from the airport, a quick check in as room was ready for us ,room 407 overlooks the bay absolutely perfect, very spacious room with its own kitchen area , fridge , microwave, sink area for up to 4 people, air con very nice , big smart tv , leading onto the balcony with great views , day and night , separate bedroom area with another balcony, walk in shower bathroom with plenty of stuff to shower with , 1st floor has a laundry room with a dryer , this leads onto the pool area again very nicely done , very clean and comfortable, room was cleaned daily and staff were very very welcoming from 1st minute, there’s Muddy Cafe right in front of the hotel 10% off as staying at the Plaza , then just turn right and this is a straight 10 min walk to all the bars and shops , food areas , Marine area to book boat tours , Fitzroy Island was our day trip it was awesome a great 4 days in Cairns loved it

I was only here for a few nights during a multi-city tour and this was the hotel the tour company choose. All about the location, close to the airport, close to many restaurants, shops and about a 15 min walk to downtown. Parking lot on site, easy for bus to pick up/drop off. Small lobby area but it was never busy. No issues checking in. My room had a nice size balcony with views of the ocean and other hotels. Two queen sized beds and a small bathroom. Everything was clean just a bit outdated. Housekeeping starts very early and can be loud. I opted for no housekeeping services during my stay and kept the do not disturb sign out at all times. Plenty of towels in the room so no need. Good sized refrigerator in the room, just need to adjust the coolness. I never ate at the onsite dining room or swam in the outside pool. I walked to nearby restaurants and bars. Best part was directly across the street you are on the pier and ocean.

The Cairns Plaza is an extremely well priced place in a pretty central location. It's about 15 minutes walk to downtown so if you're planning to spend a lot of time there, you'd be better off with one of the hotels over there. Since we were in town todo tours and go out on a boat, this was a great central place to be (even if it's just a bit dated) with just a short walk down to the docks, out to restaurants, bottle shops and a pharmacy, and easy for cans and tour buses to pick up. There's a breakfast (not included with most reservations) so we just sorted ourselves. The pool is very cute and a nice reprieve from the heat. The staff were nice enough to let us leave our bags since we arrived before checkin, but they left them in a room that was supposedly locked (where the breakfast was) but it's also the location of the bathrooms so it didn't feel very secure (besides the feeling of uneasiness, we didn't have any issues). The room was well stocked, cleaned nicely and spacious enough for four of us to share it comfortably without feeling like we were on top of each other. There were nice ocean views and a big balcony, and a fridge in the room. If I head back to Cairns, I would stay here again.

Cairns Plaza Hotel is located in a calm part of the Esplanade. It means some walking to the downtown, but no more than 15 mins. If you are lucky and you stay in the refurbished part of the hotel (I did), it is really spacious and well-equipped. There are more than enough towels, coffee packets replenished daily, even cookies. The staff were polite and quite helpful. The only drawback was lack of in-room Wifi. This meant for me spending hours in the lobby. However, given the fact that the internet is a luxurious good in Australia, I wasnot very disappointed by this fact. All in all, I would recommend staying here.
