I stay here regularly. I am always greeted with a smiling face and professional service. Some staff even greet me by name as I walk through the door. The rooms are clean and have everything I need. Breakfast packs are available from reception or a stroll across the road leads you to Muddies Cafe, where you get 10% discount as a Plaza guest. I suggest you book.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Plaza Hotel. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and always happy to help with anything we needed. Our room was spacious, spotless, and cleaned daily, with fresh towels provided each morning, a nice touch that made our stay feel well looked after. The only small downside was the lack of an extractor fan in the bathroom, which would’ve helped with steam after showers or any lingering smells. The hotel’s location is excellent , just a 5-minute walk to restaurants and bars, 2 minutes to the Esplanade, and about 10 minutes to the marina. Do keep in mind that, like most hotels near the Esplanade, there can be some street and airplane noise, so earplugs might come in handy. That said, it’s not the hotel’s fault, just part of being in such a central spot. Overall, a great stay and we’d happily come back!

Can’t thank this hotel enough for saving us from our predicament with the hotel we were staying at. The reception staff were so friendly, having a room ready for us earlier than expected. Rooms was large, beds were extremely comfortable and I was able to fit my 6ft frame in this one. Everything was fresh and clean

I came in a few days early and couldn’t get a room at the hotel where the group was meeting, so I booked a room at the Cairns Plaza. I was so impressed with how friendly and helpful the staff was and how lovely my room was. The location was perfect. My balcony looked out with a view of the ocean. Right across the street was the Esplanade Pathway where I spent a lot of time walking and enjoying all the activities. There is also an ocean front restaurant called Muddy’s. The vibe and the food is good. You can’t go wrong with this hotel.

Fantastic value for money. Great location. Clean and well appointed. A non-lux hotel offering suites at a sensible price. Will stay here again.

First impressions of the old fashioned, flashing signs were squashed as soon as we entered the building. Staff superb, especially Liv. Room spacious and very clean with a balcony and small sea view. Air Conditioning worked well. Bed very comfortable. Pool open till 9pm - would be great to have more lighting for the dark evenings. Very clean pool.||Felt very comfortable there and it is only a very short distance from the promenade with lots of places to eat and drink. 20 minutes walk to the marina for trips to the barrier reef.||If you believe in keeping your money local, privately owned, like we do, this is the place for you. Book direct!

We recently spent 8 nights at the Cairns Plaza and we would happily give it a score of 5 out of 5. We found our room, which was on the 6th floor facing the ocean to be excellent. We liked the balcony, the kitchenette, the resort pool, and especially the location -close to restaurants, the esplanade pools and opposite Muddy's. The staff were always friendly and helpful (an extra shout out to Liv). We look forward to staying there again next time we are in Cairns.

This is a fantastic hotel. Its right on the Esplanade and within walking distance of many restaurants. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the facilities are terrific. We had a suite and the bed was extremely comfortable. There was also a lounge area and small kitchenette, all very clean and overlooking the sea. Parking is free and undercover. There is also a great restaurant for breakfast (lunch and dinner) right across the road called Muddys which has a great reputation. I highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
I was only here for a few nights during a multi-city tour and this was the hotel the tour company choose. All about the location, close to the airport, close to many restaurants, shops and about a 15 min walk to downtown. Parking lot on site, easy for bus to pick up/drop off. Small lobby area but it was never busy. No issues checking in. My room had a nice size balcony with views of the ocean and other hotels. Two queen sized beds and a small bathroom. Everything was clean just a bit outdated. Housekeeping starts very early and can be loud. I opted for no housekeeping services during my stay and kept the do not disturb sign out at all times. Plenty of towels in the room so no need. Good sized refrigerator in the room, just need to adjust the coolness. I never ate at the onsite dining room or swam in the outside pool. I walked to nearby restaurants and bars. Best part was directly across the street you are on the pier and ocean.

Yelp
The Cairns Plaza is an extremely well priced place in a pretty central location. It's about 15 minutes walk to downtown so if you're planning to spend a lot of time there, you'd be better off with one of the hotels over there. Since we were in town todo tours and go out on a boat, this was a great central place to be (even if it's just a bit dated) with just a short walk down to the docks, out to restaurants, bottle shops and a pharmacy, and easy for cans and tour buses to pick up. There's a breakfast (not included with most reservations) so we just sorted ourselves. The pool is very cute and a nice reprieve from the heat. The staff were nice enough to let us leave our bags since we arrived before checkin, but they left them in a room that was supposedly locked (where the breakfast was) but it's also the location of the bathrooms so it didn't feel very secure (besides the feeling of uneasiness, we didn't have any issues). The room was well stocked, cleaned nicely and spacious enough for four of us to share it comfortably without feeling like we were on top of each other. There were nice ocean views and a big balcony, and a fridge in the room. If I head back to Cairns, I would stay here again.

Yelp
Cairns Plaza Hotel is located in a calm part of the Esplanade. It means some walking to the downtown, but no more than 15 mins. If you are lucky and you stay in the refurbished part of the hotel (I did), it is really spacious and well-equipped. There are more than enough towels, coffee packets replenished daily, even cookies. The staff were polite and quite helpful. The only drawback was lack of in-room Wifi. This meant for me spending hours in the lobby. However, given the fact that the internet is a luxurious good in Australia, I wasnot very disappointed by this fact. All in all, I would recommend staying here.
