We ate here twice during our trip to Rio de Janeiro, as this restaurant was recommended by a friend. It turned out to be our favourite restaurant in Brazil. The space is big and a bit like a greenhouse, there’s plenty of staff and service is speedy. The food was amazing. The only downside is that there’s very few toilets, so when it’s busy you might have to wait a bit. On our last day in Brazil, after a time consuming mishap with a taxi, we hopped in for a quick drink before heading to the airport. Our server, Antono Carlos, was really fast and attentive as we only had limited time there. We were even able to eat something.

Lovely restaurant and great steak. Speaking as an Aussie, I needed a good steak and this place delivered. Prices are reasonable (maybe because I’m a foreigner). The place seems too quiet for how good they are.

Very friendly waiters and staff. Attended a lunch with colleagues. Service was exceptional. Food was exceptional and the place had a calm atmosphere. Very enjoyable.

Ordered the octopus risotto 3 times, and it tasted different every time. The first time tastes the best. A little bit too much oil in the risotto but delicious. The second time, the octopus has crazy amount of sand in it. The third time (because I thought I was just unlucky the second time), put way too much salt in the risotto and the octopus. And the risotto is undercooked. The rice tastes too hard. Completely uneatable for me. The only food that was consistent and good is Bacalhau. 4 stars for the service because the waiter at the first time was rude. No smile and throw the bill on the table.

Great place for a meal. Populate with the locals for business lunch or family gatherings, the place is a converted old warehouse. And now apparently with tourists as well. We were a group of 13 and ordered from their set lunch menu. For me, the pumpkin soup was excellent. Beef with rice was grilled to perfection (medium) and the tapioca ice cream dessert was quite the unique taste, not quite vanilla but smooth enough. Special mention for the mojitos kombucha cocktails. Surprisingly refreshing and fruity.

This is such a cool restaurant. The location is right next to CCBB, which makes it very convenient for those visiting the downtown area. The food is good, and prices are reasonable. The space looks wonderful, and the service was attentive. My one recommendation would be that they change the toilet seats. The ones they currently have need an upgrade, in my opinion. I would recommend this place: good food, good service, good prices, and it looks great!

Had lovely food and were quickly served. The dishes were really tasty and the place had a cool atmosphere to it. It seemed like there were performances or live music usually taking place, although when we were there unfortunately there was none.

Yelp
We had one of the best meals of our trip here! Came here the night before New Years Eve, around 6 pm. The place was empty but we had a lovely experience. We loved our appetizers (fejoada was not a soup but black bean cakes and the heart of palm salad) and our entrees (grilled chicken, spaghetti, lamb chops, and the vegetarian risotto. Dessert (brownies, ice cream, tri-mousse, and creme brulee) were also delicious! The staff was very helpful and patient with us (we do not know Portuguese but they were able to communicate with us in English). Thank you, Cais do Oriente for a memorable experience!

Yelp
Went to lunch with colleagues, tried this place base on local recommendation. Beautiful decor, exquisite atmosphere, disappointing experience. Took almost two hours for simple special of the day menu, nothing customized. They must have forgotten or messed up on my dish because when it finally came out, the others food was cold and dry. I ordered medium rare picanha. When it came out, the meet was butterfly but folded back to serve and cut for quicker cooking. We were the first table in the room sat, there were many tables that came, ate and left before we had our food delivered. There was no attempt by any staff leadership to explain what has happened or why the delay. Things just went about as if everything was good. We opened the room it filled up and half emptied by the time we started eating. What a terrible disappointment. Such a classy and beautiful atmosphere but no attempt to rectify the situation. Would I come back for the view, yes and will take pictures. Will I try to attempt to order and eat, NOT LIKELY. I can get similar or better quality food at a churascuria.
