This was such a relaxing, wonderful, beautiful, and a tiny bit frightening place to stay!
Frightening, you ask? Yes. I am from a city. You stay here, and you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. The people who say the stars at night are big and bright deep in the heart of Texas have clearly never stayed here. There is only a cacophony of crickets and frogs, not a single police siren to be heard. Coming from a city, even a small-ish one like Tucson, I was not used to this at all. The first night, my husband said I reminded him of a dog. Every noise, be it the fridge or the AC, I picked my head up in panic. While we were sleeping, my husband would just sleepily say "fridge" every time I popped up. I think maybe it was because we arrived late and didn't get to look around too much, because the next night I had one of the best nights sleep I have ever had.
The staff here are welcoming, and bring you breakfast every morning in a picnic basket! With a mason jar full of OJ! It was, hands down no question, the cutest breakfast of all time! It was delicious, too! I was a big fan of this adorable breakfast.
Our cabin was WAY bigger than I thought it would be! It had a full kitchen, living room, the bathroom had a real shower head (unlike pretty much every other hotel ever)...all hardwood floors. It was a modernized, yet still very rustic cottage on a beautiful lake! There was a dock we had drinks on, canoes we could borrow, a lake we could fish in, and while it did feel like staying in an isolated area, it was close enough to anything we could need.
Absolutely incredible place to be. After the first night, I was so relaxed. Staying here is like stepping back in time, into a delightful, beautiful scene.
