Cake and Art did our daughter’s college graduation party cake five years ago, and their work remains exceptional. They enjoy significant popularity among celebrities and regular customers alike in Hollywood, California. They’re perfect for special events such as graduations, family milestones, and weddings. We had so much confidence in their abilities that we picked up the cake for our son’s 30th birthday party in Santa Monica and drove it 100 miles to San Diego. We decided on Red Velvet cake for our son’s cake flavor. The cake is decorated with our son’s name, “Timothy,” in its Greek form, “Timotheus”. The party, costumes and cake were all a major success.

Super delicious. Super perfect Bakery. From cupcakes to $10,000 custom wedding cakes. They do it all and have done it all for every celebrity in Hollywood. The owner Tom is a gem. If he cannot bake it for you do not need it or you aren't describing it very well. ---Super delicious and always fabulous

This place doesn't even deserve 1star for the cake I received, it was the most unappealing cake I have ever seen and ordered. I traveled to LA for my boyfriend bday and wanted to surprise him with an awesome custom Versace cake but unfortunately, that didn't happen!!!!!!!!!!! I sent my order on 8/4/17 and they said they would take care of it A small circle cake balck and gold w/ the medusa head on top and with gold rope around the rim- no one reached out to me letting me know they were unable to customize the Versace cake I wanted, instead they proceeded to put together a busted looking cake (will upload the black and gold and silver (I never even requested that color on the cake) - it was the worst custom cake I have ever seen. smh. I will give them credit for having the medusa head printed nicely but overall the cake was hideous and looked like they just threw together whatever, smh I was so disappointed when I received my cake because I was so excited to order a cake that had great reviews and even had celebrities eat their cake. The cake taste wasn't bad but it wasn't that great either. Thanks Cake & Art for manipulating me into ordering the cake with the pictures they posted I expected way more from y'all. I will never order a cake again from you guys when I return to Cali. Smh smh I ordered the cake in 2017 and I know I am about a year late, I was busy traveling so I was unable to write a review and 8/4 is coming and the horrible pictures appeared in my memories.

I've been a customer of Cake and Art since Glen von Kickle opened it and designed his first cake in 1976. He did alot of cakes for Warner Bros. I've had many cakes designed by Glen for Birthdays. Always a hit and always delicious. Still miss him.

My wife surprised me with a birthday cake from cake and art- it was a work of creative and humorous art. A Halloween cake / birthday cake with such attention to detail it looked almost too good to eat- but of course we dove in and it was a tremendously delicious cake- moist , tender and great icing- a cake truly made with love and absolutely delicious!!

Easy and efficient ordering experience. Communicated well regarding pickup given there were road closures in the area. And the cake was truly amazing! Multiple people said that the cake was the best they have seen. The quality and flavor of the cake was also outstanding. Will be ordering from here for any very special occasion.

This is the second cake I've ordered from Cake and Art, and once again, they absolutely nailed it. What I love most is how easy it is to trust them with just a vision or general idea - they somehow always come back with a stunning, creative cake that looks even better than I imagined. The cake tastes just as amazing as it looks, which is such a rare combo! Their work always adds such a special, memorable touch to any occasion. I'm officially a forever fan.

I would give a six star if they let me. Tom is fantastic and delivered a golden 50 cake from heaven for my 50th birthday. One digit was chocolate and the other digit was carrot cake. No lie it was sweet but the guest loved it at least the chocolate lol. I happen to love carrot cake almost as much as my wife but I realize that's not for everyone. If you need a cake for a special day and you want a little creativity thrown in look nowhere else and ask for Tom. By the way I read a lot of the bad reviews scoring one and two and my wife and I looked at some of the cakes that were still gorgeous. There are some very finicky, fickle people out there. This company is awesome Don't let the one and two reviews scare you.... Leave that to the people who wrote it.

I'm a procrastinator, soooooo...I needed something for a friend's birthday within 5 hours!!!!! They came through!! I had them customize a cupcake (yes, just 1) to sing happy birthday with. Staff was super fab and all in all def will be using them again!

PROS: Thank you for giving me the best birthday ever! I got my dream cake! I wore an ivory dress to match my bow-themed cake. I felt like a doll! The cake was so good. It was a chocolate berry purée. It was not too sweet and just right. I hope to have more events so I can order more form you! Also, the easiest transaction ever! The pricing is just right! They also delivered it to the restaurant when they were closed! I just want to thank you again for everything! YOU ALL ARE AMAZING CONS: NOTHING!

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience with Cake and Art. When it came to making a payment, they were incredibly responsive,quick to answer questions, send invoices, and ensure the transaction went smoothly. However, once I actually needed customer service regarding the quality of their work, they were nowhere to be found. I paid for a service expecting professionalism and quality, especially because this was for my birthday and this place is a highly recommended bakery, a special occasion that I wanted to enjoy without stress.The work I received was like if a ten year old did it, and when I reached out to express my concerns, I was met with complete silence. No response, no effort to make things right--just ignored. It's frustrating to see a company so eager when money is involved but completely unresponsive when it comes to accountability. Good customer service doesn't stop once the payment is processed. It includes standing by your work and making sure customers are satisfied. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who expects reliability, professionalism, or basic customer care. Please see how my birthday cake was a complete waste for $135 I expected detail and sharpness not a cake made with play dough

We were in a pinch for a birthday cake and they made it happen in just a few days! Everyone was not only raving about how beautiful it was but also how delicious it tasted. Would highly recommend them for all your cake needs!

After seeing all of their cakes, mine was half assed. Maybe I booked it too far in advance. I knew they didn't deliver, but i went with the three tier cake anyway. The box they put it in was flimsy as hell and I noticed when they helped to carry it to my car, the top two tiers were already wobbling. I had to go from their location to a venue in the valley, I was going way below the speed limit. 5 mph it most cases, got as far as making a left onto La Cienega when the top two tiers fell over onto the passenger seat door. Stopped to push them back on top and then the top two tiers just fell over into the seat. At this point I'm pissed, but I have my own party to host. The presentation was ruined due to the lack of properly having the top two tiers supported to the bottom tier. First, the half as look and then it falls over. Why did they have to ruin my milestone 50th birthday!! Beyond angry. And for the price, I was definitely conned.

first of all, I ordered 8 inch cake and I paid $70, $5 dollars extra for organic strawberries. I asked not to be too sweet. I received a 7 inch cake total of 5 half slice of strawberries inside. The so sweet that it was granular and it wouldn't melt. The declaration was OK I ordered basic design.

it's a shame that I cannot post a picture of the cake I had made. sufficed to say that if you want a cake with a fondant sexual organ involved, I cannot believe that there is another bakery in the world than this gem in WeHo. I was even pressed for time and was able to coordinate an Uber package delivery with them. Couldn't have been happier with everything!

Well, what do you get for someone who has anything? As my card read " we couldn't think of anything practical so we went with an inappropriate cake"... We definitely caused tremendous laughter and applause when we handed our friend his cake! This establishment has been in business since 1976. There is a reason why they're still in business! They make fabulous art and fun experiences for anyone who receives it and best of all it tastes delicious so bravo, bravo, bravo, bravo, bravo, bravo, bravo, bravo, bravo! Sarah was amazing to deal with! And, when I explained that I am a little klutzy, she walked my cake to my car and placed it safely inside... It was a small gesture that meant the world to me exemplifying this bakery goes the extra mile for their customers and been doing it for almost 50 years! This is not my local business but seriously, it's the best of its kind and I am now and forever a fan! This cake made my friend, so happy he is still giggling and thrilled. So thank you to everyone who works here. You really did me a great solid and made me and "our gang" look amazing and so cool!!' And cool rules! Thank you.!

Ordered $200 worth of custom cupcakes for my husband's tropical themed birthday party and they were the worst ever! First, the packaging, they were boxed in cheap, flimsy bakery boxes separated by a small amount of tissue paper which did not protect the cupcakes from shifting during the ride home. Secondly, the cupcakes were inconsistent in shape and size. Looked like something I could have baked if I had never baked before. Third, I requested custom flavors and got cupcakes that were vanilla cake with a weird flavored gel in the center rather than flavored batter or icing. Go to Sweet E's instead. Consistency and proper packaging every time.

Wow! I ordered a Hobbit Hole cake for my sons LotR themed 1st birthday and Cake & Art sure did deliver. The cake not only looked incredible but also tasted amazing. We did the strawberry shortcake and it was delicious. We had 50 guests and ordered a cake for 20. The cake was huge and we still have half left. We are so so happy with how this cake turned out. It was well worth the price! Highly recommend getting a cake here!

I had a themed avatar cake made for a birthday and was thrilled with how it came out. Not only did my cake look beautiful and taste AMAZING, but the price was great too. My cake was described as delicious by everyone who tried it. I'm having Cake and Art make a wedding cake for me now and they've been very accommodating, including offering delivery which is not a typical service they offer. Highly recommend!!

I recently purchased a cake with a photo on top. It was beautifully decorated. I will say that. BUT! The store was so gross. Trash everywhere. The counter had a bunch of cut up paper and crusty icing. Even the cake boxes looked dirty like someone put them together with oily fingers. At least the cake was cheap.

This place is wonderful. I ordered a cake for a friend and it came out so amazing! She was so happy with her cake and it was delicious. I was so impressed by the talent from the cake artist. Also the employees here are so kind and accommodating. I love this place and I will keep it in mind for future cakes!

It was an incredibly easy and straightforward process - and the fact that they delivered this within 24 hrs is beautiful! For reference, see photo, I ordered an 8-inch-diameter cake with a photo print of the Spongebob meme for 25! *FOOD QUALITY* Yes, it tastes delicious. I ordered red velvet and vanilla filling and it was moist and fresh and wonderfully generous in portion. The design of the cake is done way better than I requested (which were simple directions) - they followed everything to the T AND MORE! *VALUE* Totally worth ordering your next specialty custom cake from here - the quality and service is top notch and I paid $60ish for this cake!

I've been using this team for years. Get past the attitude over the phone because they're just trying to get their information down and they have their protocol. They keep it short sweet and to the point. Their artistic ability is beyond your imagination so put them to the challenge and be extremely descriptive and you'll get more than what you want. Their prices are on point and to say the least the cake is absolutely delicious. 1000%. As a chef and a baker and pastry expert. They come highly recommended. We will continue to use Cake and Art as a platform to deliver only the best creative cakes for our guests and clientele

My team at work ordered a cake for a company event, and it looked absolutely terrible. There were fingerprints, scuff marks, letters peeling off, and the color we had ordered was not what we had received. It looked VERY unprofessional, and they even added additional details that 1) we didn't ask for, and 2) were very tacky. I was told by those who tried the cake that it also did not taste very good. We reached out to politely let them know we were not happy with what was delivered, and we received a curt note back essentially saying that nothing was going to be done. They went radio silent after that. We wanted to support a local business we had not tried yet, and needless to say, we will never make that mistake with this particular business again. Back to Sweet E's for us!

OMG!! My 7 year old played IS IT CAKE! We bought 4 cakes: 1 huge cheeseburger, 3 strawberries (bundle), Belgian waffle, and a banana. EVERYONE got fooled with the waffle!! THANK YOU FOR GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND! I would definitely spend my money here again! They worked a payment plan out with me which allowed me to get everything for the party!

My expectations were kind of low because I gave a one week notice and they didn't get back to until two days later but WOW I was mind blown when I first saw it. I had a lot of requests and gave a few reference pictures and they freaking delivered. More specifically, BECKY DELIVERED. It was for my boyfriend's 30th birthday so I wanted to do something special and let me just tell you, he loves me even more. I was most impressed by the rice she created. She hand piped the frosting to every single one to make it look more realistic. The visuals are obviously amazing but it was also delicious. I got the red velvet with the cream cheese and I was skeptical of the taste because of the other reviews but it was actually very good. My boyfriend has a huge sweet tooth and he couldn't stop eating it and we gave it to his friends to take home and they personally messaged me saying how good it was. So safe to say, they all love me too and now, I am now fully welcomed.

Wasn't what I expected especially looking at the complexity of there past creations. Cake seemed rushed even with the minimum turn time that they requested. Provided examples and just didn't match what I was expecting. there were over sprays in some areas which made it look messy. The roses on top I requested I thought we're gonna be edible designs they grabbed plastic props and spray painted them black when I touched them I got paint on my fingers and you could smell the spray paint and that was on top of food? If it was a time issue I probably would have preferred them telling me they couldn't do it specially for the price. Original request: 1.round tall cake similar to example provided 2.All black cake with black roses on top with gold accent if possible, gold drizzling down the cake similar to example provided 3. Images of Addams family around the cake with frames around the pics in frosting (I have the selected the images all in black in white no color) 4. Chocolate cake with cream cheese filling, whipped icing 5. Dropped at the restaurant mama por dios at 7pm Sample pics included.

Cake was absolutely amazing. Everybody had a good laugh. I come to find out while placing my order that they had a delivery service and that was the icing on the cake. No pun intended.

Definitely recommend them I was helped online by matt they responded so quickly through email especially because I did my cake a week before I was glad they accepted my order!! The cake looked a bit different than what i used as a reference but it turned out better the pricing as well was just amazing for what I was given?!! Yes please! I got a vanilla cake with fresh strawberries. It was a bit more on the sweet side but I will definitely be coming back here every from ordering to picking up was amazing. When I picked up they place looked a bit small but you also get to see the different cake styles that are in the making which is amazing! Definitely a must when ordering here!! I can't say enough about this Brick & Mortar institution that has been on Santa Monica Blvd. for over 30 years. The cake blew everyone's mind. Amazing everything. Cake was absolutely STUNNING. Ordered a custom "Yayoi Kusama Pumpkin" birthday cake, for my 9-year old who loves Yayoi Kusama, and I couldn't be happier with the result. The cake was reasonably priced - I think it was something around $130 for a 8" cake that feeds 6-8 (but really more like 12+ servings for my family). This was as the best value of any custom bakery in Los Angeles that we contacted. Some of the insane quotes we received were $500+ (WHAT??!) So so happy with Cake and Art. They are truly masters, their cakes are a work of art.

Since my niece's graduation ceremony was canceled due to COVID we wanted to do something nice and have a family ceremony/celebration for her. We also wanted a special cake made in the shape of a book. Vons couldn't do it and neither could our local bakery. A friend of ours suggested Cake and Art. We called them and told them what we were looking for and they said they could make it. I wasn't familiar with Cake and Art even though they have been in business since 1976. They create and make custom cakes - anything from sculpted cakes, photo cakes, 3D cakes, erotic cakes, cakes in the shape of a shoe.... Their clientele includes celebrities, so you've probably seen their cakes on TV or social media. Knowing that parking in West Hollywood can be tricky I drove my mom to pick up the cake so she wouldn't have to deal with finding a parking spot. We were fortunate to find a space on the street near the shop. The store is very quaint and cute. The man behind the counter greeted us and was very warm and friendly. I think he may have been the owner. We had a nice conversation about graduations. On our way out he opened the door for us because it was very heavy. He said the door was 100 years old. When we got home we were blown away with how amazing the cake looked! It was very impressive. My niece's graduation colors were black & gold, per our request, those colors were used in the decoration of the cake. The cake itself was spectacular! It was very moist with a fudge filling, covered with vanilla buttercream and topped with a chocolate fondant. I'm not really a fan of fondant but this one was soft with a nice texture and flavor. My niece thought the cake was incredibly cool and she loved it! I would definitely purchase another cake from here, and I highly recommend Cake and Art.

The customer seems is great. The finished product was amazing. I recommend cake and Art if you want to make an event really special. My daughter graduated from Law school. I needed a special touch and I got it.

I am so happy with my 30th birthday cake and wanted to come on here and express how grateful I am. I showed up to pick up my cake and due to some miscommunications, it didn't look exactly right, but cake and art understood and changed the color as I requested, and it came back BEAUTIFUL! This was the final cake. I appreciate them fixing the color and making the perfect cake that I really wanted. Thank you so much! Truly beautiful.

These cakes come out really nice! They always seems to accommodate the order for when you need it. Even last minute (like 1-2 week notice). The more time you give them the better of course. The packaging of the cake is super safe so it travels well. The staff are really friendly. The only downside is parking since it's only street parking, but just circle around and you'll eventually find your way in. This is my go to cake maker for events.

Cake & art has been my go to for specialty cake requests & they never disappoint. I order my cakes 2 months in advance & haven't had any issues with my order being fulfilled. Outside of flawless execution, the cakes taste so good! Everyone at our parties always say the cake tastes as good as it looks. Which is hard to find. Love love love Cake & Art. Staff is friendly, bakers are true artists. 10 out of 10.

Let me start by saying that I was a bad customer to Cake & Art: I responded very late to their messages; ordered a cake within a limited time frame; sent a bunch of messages regarding the specificities of the cake; and even accidentally gave an inactive card for the deposit. Cake & Art, in response, communicated efficiently and patiently; met my unreasonable deadline; and delivered one of the most beautiful and delicious cakes I have ever had!! Rebecca, my cake artist, created my cake vision to perfection, and she was so sweet and wonderful. I shared the cake with loved ones, and they all asked where I got it made! I will DEFINITELY be back for my cake needs in the future! Thank you so much, Cake & Art!

Decided to go with this place for my best friends bday cake. Wasn't expecting it to be THIS perfect, but I sent them a pic of what I was looking for and they NAILED it! Not only was the cake a beautiful piece of art, it tasted absolutely amazing, jelly in the middle and it was so good! My bestie LOVED it, and freaked out! I'll post the pic I asked for first and what they made second! I will definitely be ordering from them again. The price made it even sweeter! I was surprised I wasn't charged hundreds for this! Thanks again! Also my sister who doesn't even like cake, finished her piece and LOVED it.

The cake turned out fabulous! I'd never ordered from them before so I was very happy with the outcome: the design was spot on and the cake inside was moist and yummy. They seem busy so communication was a bit harder than I would have liked--they seem to like email better than phone calls, however, things turned out ok. Sadly, the cake was delivered with a crack in it--but I was told that I'd get a discount (still waiting to see if it happens). For the two reasons above I am giving the 4 stars. I would definitely recommend them...but maybe try and go in to order and pick up instead of deliver‍. I loo forward to my next event to order from them again.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Don't ever trust them I order a very simple two tiered white cake for my civil marriage. Literally order a two tier cake with nothing on it simple. First of all the top layer wasn't centered in the middle of the cake, which made the cake extremely tacky and cheap looking. The woman packaged it up with two cheap regular cake box that she origamied herself. Upon reaching home and while holding it throughout the whole drive back home I open the cake and saw that it had HUGE air bubbles and a dent because of the cheap packaging they made. I called to ask for a solution because as you see in the picture the packaging was stained and that means it absorbed the cake in. Anyways he said they can't do anything and once it leaves the store it's not their problem when clearly it's their cheap packaging. He even said they can't pick it up or drop it off that we have to figure it out ourselves. And then had the audacity to say we'll yea it happens air bubbles we can't do anything about it. When clearly they don't know what they're doing. He even tried to convince to hide it with the flowers I was gonna decorate it with. Anyways these are the pictures horrible customer service. REPLY TO TOM BELOW: since I cant reply on a thread and it's not worth reviewing again. First of all, it wasn't later in the day it was 20 minutes after I reached home, that the cake looked like this. I really advise you to start investing In packaging in order for you to have happier clients. Of course I wont accept any of the solutions you provided because I didn't trust your quality anymore and for a bakery to say YES ITS NORMAL FOR AIR BUBBLES TO HAPPEN, says so much about that bakery's knowledge and limitations in general. I added more images for you Mr Tom to see. One picture was taken with the time for your reference was at 3:35 the bubble seemed mild in size. WHILE SITTING AT THE SAME COUNTER AND NOT MOVING ( as you may have suggested due to transportation) THE BUBBLE ONLY GREW BIGGER (check second picture for reference at 5:19). Mr Tom with all your respect if you think I was gonna let you stress me out by creating a new cake and risking my wedding day for my cake to grow in shape you're very wrong I was not gonna let that happen!! So yes when your staff tells me they can't do anything and I have to drop it off myself and it's not after I told him I don't want it anymore that he offered to create a new one, maybe you were worried about a negative review. SO HERE IT IS. I'm not surprised that you won't take the blame for anything, but this is the fairest thing to do Telling a customer that they can hide a mistake with flowers also says so much about that bakery, that I should use a Pin to deflate the bubble is pretty ridiculous. Found myself a new bakery and showed them the pictures to which they laughed it off and told me these comments we learn in culinary school and should never be said to a client as of it's not the clients job to do it. Lastly Mr Tom, they also insisted that if It was left at the right temperature to cool down and rest the bubbles would never happen because that layer need time to stick. Maybe that's a tip you should learn so you avoid it in your new endeavors and adventures making cakes

I contacted them the day before I needed the cake. My friend came in to town unexpectedly and it was her birthday. I had to figure out who is going to make a beautiful cake for her 60th birthday. I was able to contact cake and art at 5:30 PM and they simply said, we could make the cake for you, just submit the order. It was ready by 3 PM the next day. It's exactly what she wanted and she was very pleased. I highly recommend this bakery.

My nephew was so upset that he couldn't have his party at Chuck E. Cheese . The corona virus had become very serious quickly . People were on lock down . No cake at all for we were going to have one At the place . My Dad called Cake & Art and they were able to create a cake for us! They even delivered it too! A nice lady came to the door and my nephew was so unbelievably excited! He has high functioning autism and I was so impressed with the designs on the cake as well as he was. That fascinated them . Anyhow the cake was not only beautiful, it tasted amazing! He is very picky with texture and taste and he enjoyed every bite! I will be ordering my cakes here from now on! This is the first time I've ever ordered a birthday cake in Los Angeles. Every single time I've ever attempted to do so, the prices I've been quoted is literally an arm and a leg for a cake that feeds 6 people... This was a surprise cake for my friend and I can't begin to explain how amazing this cake was. Not only was the design so beautiful, but the cake was so delicious. I'm so happy I found this place! This is our new bakery for all future birthdays and celebrations! I would 100% recommend them! Thank you all again for such an amazing cake!!!

Once a year, Yelp should give each user one extra star to bestow on a company that absolutely dominated every category of quality and customer service. For me in 2021, it's Cake & Art. In the middle of the crazy holiday season with very little time to spare, I had an insane idea for a hilarious birthday cake. I sent my totally bizarre request accompanied with little more than a tragic attempt at a sketch. Not only did Cake&Art make sense of my jabberings and scribbles, but they turned it into something truly special. They got the joke and raised the humor with a combination of wit and wizardry. The birthday boy loved it. I loved it. And it was all anyone at the party could talk about. It's now been three weeks and I'm still hearing about the cake. (People even ate it, because it tasted good too. And my friends don't eat cake.) Big thank you to Mark(I think that's your name) and company. I can't wait for more cake excuses so I can work with you again.

I just really want to thank this place so much for being the savior of my baby's 2nd birthday. I was misinformed by another bakery causing me not to be able to get my cake on time. I called everywhere In hopes of finding a place that can do a custom cake same day, but I didn't expect much due to it being Christmas Eve and most places need time way in advance. I called and showed a picture of what I wanted, but he said he wasn't able to do that on such short notice but he was able to do a printed picture and simple design. I was bummed out but had to work with the option I had. I wanted a leopard/jungle theme for my baby's birthday, so I just tried to find the best picture I could on google. I was so worried on how it would turn out but they completely EXCEEDED my expectations for a last minute cake! It was actually SO much better than what I originally wanted and the price was GREAT for the work that was done. I will definitely be coming back here for cakes needed In the future. 1st pictures are the work they did, last photo is my original idea
