Cake Under My Pillow

We have just come back from staying here for the weekend and can honestly say that I love this place!!||It's got character and made us feel like we were getting 'the real amsterdam' which you wouldn't get if you stayed in a chain (or normal) hotel.||Our room was the green room and had an en suite shower room. This room overlooked the curved row of restaurants which back on to the Heineken Experience. Yes, it was a little noisy at night but I think you'll get that in a lot of places in amsterdam. Also, you're not going to be as close to a tram line without then hearing it go past. Room was more than comfortable for us & we had plenty of room for both of us.||There's also a communal living room you can use along with other guests. We didn't use this room but did see others using it. The communal kitchen was well stocked with various teas and coffee, plus there was an assortment of ham and cheeses, bread, cereals and fruit which you can help yourself to. You also get a free cake and coffee for each of the days you stay from the shop below... the cakes are amazing so make sure you get yours!! ||It should definitely be noted that the B&B is accessed via some very steep steps so anyone who has mobility issues would struggle.||As mentioned above, there's a tram line almost immediately outside the B&B, this tram line, 16, takes you to and from the train station in about 20 mins. We used this every day to get to and from the centre of Amsterdam as was so convenient. I wouldn't ordinarily have booked somewhere to stay in amsterdam as far out as this B&B is but the location of the tram stop is fantastic so it's not an issue at all, plus the area itself is really nice with so many good restaurants and bars and a market on your doorstep.||I would 100% go back here and recommend it to friends and family. Us rating it 4 and not 5 stars is us being seriously picky and mostly down to things like the shower room being a little dated (albeit spotless).

We booked this property to be within walking distance of the museums (10 minutes) and were very happy with the accommodations. Our Green room had en suite bathroom; other rental room bathroom was down the hall. There was a very nice kitchen stocked with food and drink for you to prepare your own snacks and breakfast. The shared living room was comfortable and offered access to a computer. There is no air conditioning which was not a problem in early June but could be an issue with hot summer weather. We were given coupons for two free coffees and cakes in the pastry shop below for each day of stay; delicious! Staff was very friendly and helpful; they carried our two heavy suitcases up the two flights of steep stairs (no lift!) and booked a taxi for our departure. There are many restaurants within a very short walking distance and the neighborhood is very nice and safe.

Enjoying my stay here in the green room with attached bathroom. There are two flights of stairs up and the staff helped with our bags. They offer a free slice of cake each day as a gift. Clean and well kept. Shared living room is for smoking and not usable as a non smoker. The kitchen is stocked and shared with the guests in the other rooms.

The great location made getting around Amsterdam easy, The biggest negative is that the rooms are up two very steep and narrow flights of stairs. Definitely not a place for the physically limited. Breakfast is a modest do it yourself arrangement. The second day we found a great breakfast place down the street, which was a much more appealing arrangement.

We chose the cake under my pillow hotel because of the great location. We got the blue room which has the shower and the toilet across the hallway. Unfortunately you don't get breakfast served, you need to make it on your own. However, you can always go in the kitchen and grab a drink or something to eat. (For free) |Furthermore you get a voucher for everyday's coffee and a cake at the café de taart van mejn tante. The staff is very caring, helpful, friendly, and well organized! You might wake up in the night because of the street noise - but that's nothing new to a city hotel. |All in all, we would recommend this hotel!

Stayed 4 days in the orange room. The room was cute and comfortable, with everything needed. It was so quiet i was able to sleep with the windows opened. On the same floor you can use the living room and the kitchen. The owner provides the kitchen with breakfast goods for the guests: fresh bread, cheese, ham, sweet stuffs, cereals, milk, coffee, etc.. But the best are the everyday vouchers for cakes and coffee from the cakeshop under your pillow ! Delicious !

We needed somewhere near family and found this gem, super close to the tram and museum district. We had the huge room with the bathroom, but would have been equally happy to stay in one of the 3 rooms that share a bathroom. Super light, clean and great location, and of course, the coffee and cake are an added bonus

Very nice place. Good cakes. Amazing relaxing atmosphere. Will come back. Service is very good, but not fast. Recommend it for families with kids. Girls will love it. So come and enjoy. Part of my family think that this is the best cafe in Amsterdam
