Cal Mar Hotel Suites

Best kept secret in Santa Monica. We have stayed in all the hotels in Santa Monica, Venice, Marina Del Ray including the higher end hotels and this is one of the best. Staff are accommodating and helpful and you can’t beat the location. Yes the rooms are dated but clean and spacious. If you’re looking for really good value and location this would be your hotel. A little bonus is they keep the pool warm, so you are able to swim anytime.

My husband and I travel to LA about every six weeks for business. We always stay at the Cal Mar and enjoy having an apartment instead of just a hotel room. The staff is so helpful and friendly- at this point they seem like friends! Yes, it's an old building but it's kept spotless as well as the pool

Very beautiful rooms , full kitchens and bathrooms very spacious. Has a swimming pool that’s heated ! Right off pacific high way can walk to the ocean ! Very friendly staff and hard working :) Really know how to accommodate you! Very much recommend! Very quiet place to be , no loud parties and mostly family friendly ! Worth the Check out 😋

The Cal Mar has a great location, the beach, the pier, the shopping street, everything is within a few minutes. The rooms are well equipped with everything from bathing utensils, dishes, fridge, cutlery, stove, fridge and whatever I just forgot. The pool is clean and well maintained, the staff friendly, very helpful and was available to us 24 hours with advice and assistance. During the days where Hilary swept through California there were even umbrellas to borrow at the reception. We enjoyed our stay very much and would check in at Cal Mar again anytime.

Positive: Size of the accomodation and the location were great. Negative: Not a 3 star hotel! No aircon. Room smelt funky. Window frames, fittings, fans, vents all filthy. Couldn¿t lock window to walkway outside our room and blinds didn¿t close properly. Carpet and couch were heavily stained. Room not updated since 1950¿s. Negative: ""

This is one of our favorite places to stay in Santa Monica. We love this place, but if you’re on the alley side of the building the noise from trash trucks and the custodial staff at the building across the alley will keep you awake/wake you with a start. The grounds are lovely for a mid-century hotel that seems to be a former apart building. Every room we’ve booked here has had a separate bedroom, full kitchen with dishes, stove/oven, refrigerator, cookware, utensils, dish soap, trash can, coffee and coffee maker, and a living room with a pullout couch, coffee table, desk, and chairs. The bedroom and living room each have their own (cable) tv’s, and there’s a dining room with a table and chairs. Some rooms have balconies. We’ve always received great service here, too. It’s only two short blocks from Palisades Park, and within easy walking distance to the Third Street Promenade, the Santa Monica pier, and beach. Our most recent visit was for a week to recover from surgery, and it was perfect for that purpose. Like a home away from home. Parking is $22 per night.

The staff was extra accommodating and took initiative to be helpful. We did have issue with heat but they have portable heaters and immediately worked to fix it which we were fine with. Multiple times was offered to help with bags or strollers. Eloise was excellent at making our room comfortable and even initiated to bring extra baby blankets and towels since we had a newborn. Pool was warm. Great location. They should invest in some shampoo/ conditioner. But was overall very happy with all of the staff and our stay.
