Great local grocery store. Friendly employees. Really large selection of local wines, as well as many cheeses, and all the appropriate accessories! You can also get Napa/Calistoga souvenirs here. But aside from all of that, they have a great selection of everything else you expect a grocery store to have. Lots of parking, too.

Google
Late Dec2024 Local Calistoga grocery that the main grocer at this small town. They have a decent selection of products for one's general needs. Interiors are a bit dated and reflective of the small town feel.

Charles R. Bucklin

Google
I go to this grocery store because it's close to my work. While I don't traditionally "shop" at this market I love the Deli. The staff make great sandwiches and they have a delicious selection of baked goods made locally. Plus there's Decent coffee and well stocked wine and beer aisles.

Google
We visited CalMart in Calistoga this week- bc of a local recommendation. Our Go to grocery store for great quality foods & variety back home in Redmond, WA is Whole Foods. WOW!!........ CalMart blew us away!! From a superb selection of wines to an amazing choice of delicious Deli foods. The sandwiches & so much more! We experienced extra friendly staff in the Deli dept. delighted to help us. And with smiles to share! Way to go Team CalMart!! Nothing like a small business for outstanding customer service! Lucky local Calistogians!! 🍀

Google
This store is cute. Produce and deli have a good selection. BUT, the star of the show? Daniel. He somehow knew what I was looking for when I didn’t . Then put me on a 10/10 cheese that I spent the rest of my checking account on. Worth it. I <3 Daniel and Cal Mart cheese selection.

Google
This market is packed with everything you could think of! From a large selection of cheese, wine and beer. The deli has hot and cold food for lunch and picnics. The bakery is very good lots of cakes and yummies. The also have a nice produce dept.

Google
This store for real makes me want to move to Calastoga. Great prices, excellent selection, a real blast from the past. They carry great bread and the house made deli turkey is fab.

Google
I don’t know how this grocery store is if it’s what you depend on for your weekly standards, but if you’re running into town to get 3 perfectly paired cheeses to go with the wine you just grabbed, to head off and watch the sunset on the coast, the cheesemonger will hook you up, and you’ll have everything you need else wise from the aisles to accompany it.

Yelp
CalMart Calistoga offers an excellent sandwich menu and equally great service, Fresh ingredients. Highly recommend,

Yelp
Cal Mart is exactly what you hope to find in a small town--local charm with the selection of a big box store. From the moment you walk in, it has that friendly, welcoming vibe that makes you feel like part of the community, even if you're just visiting. While in town for work, my mornings often start here. Their hot breakfast sandwiches are a must--hearty, delicious, and perfect for fueling up for the day. They do sell out quickly (a testament to how good they are!), but luckily there's no shortage of other options, including a full coffee bar to get your caffeine fix just the way you like it. Whether you're picking up groceries, grabbing something quick to eat, or just want to soak up some local flavor, Cal Mart is a gem in Calistoga.

Yelp
On our way to start a day of touring and wine tasting in the valley, we had a friend tell us that we must stop at Cal Mart. It was going to be the place to get snacks to take along for our adventures. We both love all sorts of cheeses so that was our first stop in the store. Daniel took us through all the different types of cheeses they offered and made several recommendations to us. We settled on two great choices and then turned to address the other accoutrements. We snagged some prosciutto and some feta stuffed olives before heading toward the bakery. There we got recommendations for a sourdough baguette as well as the olive loaf. The olive loaf goes quickly according to the bakery department. We got the second to last loaf of the day. It was that delicious. Snacks in hand, we headed off for our day. This was a great stop!

Yelp
This store has great sandwiches, amongst other things. This is my go-to store when in town.

Yelp
Who would have thought, i would find the BEST Peppermint Latte at the Calistoga grocery store? Been having a craving ever since the Snoopy ice rink show where I got a great Peppermint hot chocolate, and i saw Peppermint Mocha on the Cal Mart menu so gave it a go... I seriously wanted to turn back on the way to Napa and get another! So so good! Perfect blend of yummies, and they must use a premium coffee blend. (Decaf yet!). No Calistoga does NOT need a Starbucks when they have Cal Mart!

Stash Y.

Yelp
This is for the lady with the red hair working register 4 at 5:45. It feels like they throw the change onto my hand and I don't get a thank you either

Yelp
Warm day and decided to get lunch anyplace other than one of restaurants along the main street. Headed in to the very clean and well-organized Cal Mart. Both folks at the deli were super welcoming and we ordered one of their signature Club Sandwiches on Focaccia bread. Asked them to put it on the panini grill as well. The woman at the checkout was extremely friendly. Sat in the nearby park and enjoyed one of the best sandwiches we've had in a very long time.

Robert A.

Yelp
I mainly shop the meat department and the deli. The entire store staff is very helpful and friendly. My favorite however is Caeser in the Deli Department. He is so very helpful and informative. Always greets you with a smile and offers samples of new products and thanks you for your purchases.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 20 years plus for one thing and one thing only, sandwiches!. This market has all your sundries that you could possibly need that you might get on your trip but the real go to is the sandwiches and salad bar. There's nowhere else within 20 mi.² that you can eat such a great sandwich For such a low price that's well-made and they even put in a little thin mint chocolate for dessert every single time. There's a park about two blocks away where I go to enjoy my sandwich, drink a glass of whatever and take a nap and this place has been consistent over 20 years span of time. If you want to go to your extra fancy restaurants and pay exorbitant amounts of money that's all good too, but I would rather have a quality sandwich just to fill my belly while I'm winetasting.

Yelp
Fantastic cheese selection, and the gentleman at the cheese counter even cut up the hard cheeses for our picnicking needs. Recommend this local grocery store for lunch essentials.

Yelp
I am working in Calistoga for a few weeks and needed to stock up on some essentials. After doing a 'grocery stores near me' I decided to try the Cal Mart Grocery Store - in Calistoga. I was not disappointed at all. My large (Venti equivalent) latte with an extra shot of espresso, one pump of dark chocolate, made with oat milk = $5.60. At Peet's $8.25; Local Kuppa Joy $8.50; Starbucks $9.25. The team member was cheerful, happy to help, and made a truly great coffee experience while I shopped around the store. Oh, and let me not forget to let you all know their coffee beans are CERTIFIED ORGANIC! The selection of items were outstanding with incredible brands from around the world. Some high end brands were less at Cal Mart by up to 33% in near by towns - such as Napa. Every single team member on the floor and at the register were so pleasant. And the store was busy with every register open, a waiting line in the parking lot, and no one getting hyperactive and impatient. And there are a lot of tourist there at any given time. I love tuna salad. And they have a 'Homemade Tuna Salad' that tastes just like what Mom used to make. The egg salad was NOT DRY - creamy, spreadable, and very tasty. I could go on and on but I believe one gets the best of how this store meets all expectations for a wonderful shopping experience in a very busy tourist town, in the heart of wine country. When you are up in the Calistoga area stop in this little store and get one of their incredible sandwiches. And, of course, a great cup of coffee. Super place! I will be stocking up on some essential items, When I head home in a couple of weeks. Especially since I cannot get these items locally, nor does anyone make or carry a reasonable replacement locally!

Yelp
Cute store with, ample charcuterie items, but a bit pricey. They had a nice wine selection. However the salad bar was a bit ran through and messy.

Theresa H.

Yelp
We purchased two kinds of crackers. One was rancid and the other had a "best by" from four months ago. Nice selection of goods but they need to watch expiration dates!
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
One of the best mom and pop grocery stores ive ever seen. The butcher shop area looked absolutely amazing high quality meats. Had an amazing fresh made sandwich all the fixings from the sandwich station/deli. Aisles all clean organized and even the Customer bathroom in the back was clean. Great spot to stop in Calistoga, CA. Highly recommend. Friendly staff as well

Kennedy B.

Yelp
This is a great full-servicr grocery store: locally owned and operated ... almost everything you want, staffed by locals who care! ... all the basics, and excellent offering of Hispanic staples, and a great deli counter: sandwiches the way you want them! Parking available, but it gets tight at lunchtime ...and Bill the owner is a generous community supporter! This is the epitome of Local O&O: the reason to shop local!

Yelp
I really want to love Cal Mart as much as everyone else does but I'm simply just not a fan of their deli, nor do I find their staff to be very customer friendly. Ordering a few sandwiches at the deli counter, they seemed a bit put out. The bread seemed a bit stale and on my veggie sandwich I specified to add tomatoes, which they left off. I'll give them some props for having a nice variety of deli salads and a well stocked bake goods case. I can see, in theory, this could be a great place to stock up for a Wine Country picnic. Was excited to grab lunch here but ended up just feeling disappointed in the quality and overall service. Others seem to love it and perhaps I'll come back in case I just experienced an off day. I just didn't get or experience for myself, the hype of this place.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this store! Great butcher shop, produce, wine, cheese, a wall of hot sauces, great deli, espresso bar. They have it all, and it's all top notch. I may live in Saint Helena, but something about the store makes it worth the drive. Calistoga has parking, is charming, and has a vibe that other Napa Valley towns lack. Is it the resorts? Is it the 19th century feel? Is it the palisades standing sentry over town? Dunno, but this store, this town feels great.

Yelp
Since telling a luxury hotel with a 1-Michelin star rated restaurant SIX MONTHS IN ADVANCE that one is vegan doesn't result in provisioning vegan coffee creamer in the fridge, I popped into Cal Mart after an early morning bike ride on my birthday to pick up some plant-based creamer and yogurt. First, I'd like to thank the man with the adorable black and white dog for crossing my path just as I was arriving so I could get in some pets and truly exuberant dog love to start my morning. YAY, doggies! Since I hadn't brought a lock with me -- I asked the cashier if I could walk through with my bike. She said to leave it next to her station by the ATM so she could watch it. The store is super well provisioned with everything -- and they have a good selection of plant-based coffee creamers, as well as kombucha and Rebbl chocolate milk so I ended up with nearly more than I could carry in the front pouch of my pullover windbreaker. Next, I'd like to thank the two people who had 3 dogs just outside as I left -- I got to pet all 3 dogs -- a labradoodle and a pair of very sweet German Shepherds. Later that day, my friend and I popped into CalMart again to get a bottle of wine - and we were pleased with the selection and pricing (the wine shop down the street in Calistoga was very expensive -- we ended up paying $20 for a bottle priced at $45 at the other place). Again - everyone working there was super nice. The customers were nice. It was a good vibe in the parking lot, too. Bring your own bags and wear a mask.

Yelp
Small-town grocery store. $2.49 for a bottled coke zero. Nice selection of desserts. Fast service. Quaint.

YV M.

Yelp
Sam at the Deli has the worst costumer service. Sounds like he's not happy with his job and takes it out on the costumers. Sandwiches are getting more expensive by the day and they are adding less of each ingredient that you ask for.
google avatar

Louise M.

Yelp
Closes early at 8pm but has everything you need. Aldo has a good assortment of hot foods, made to order sandwiches, some premade salads, sushi, etc. staff very nice.
google avatar

Christine V.

Yelp
Deli is great prices and decent food but they get overwhelmed around lunch time and it takes twenty minutes to get a vegetarian sandwich made. Call your order in ahead because the convenience of just walking in and ordering isn't worth the wait time. Don't go to the older cashier lady if you have food stamps or gift card you want to use up. She will tell you "all it says is insufficient funds Not how much is left, I can't use up the last of it " and you will have to use a completely different method to pay or just go without. She is also very easily frustrated, and always has a bad attitude. Avoid her.

H B.

Yelp
Love this store. Miss everyone there. Their store has the best selection of produce and goodies. Everyone is so nice and helpful. And the store is just cute all around. I would recommend you go to this market if your in Calistoga. There is no other market like it. Can't wait to visit and come back home.
google avatar

Andre S.

Yelp
Cal Mart is the grocery option in Calistoga. They have a good selection of hot foodstuffs! I am a fan of the vegetarian breakfast Burrito! it has zucchini, mushrooms, tofu, peppers eggs. I was surprised how delicious it was when the selection of other burritos was gone and I had only the veggie to buy. Now it's all I eat! They also have a deli, meats, bakery goods and pastries. Fresh fruits and vegetables. A bit of a gourmet market. I'm glad Calistoga has this market. One stop shop, with out it there is nothing, a small Mexican market and gas stations. The only thing I can say negative is the price of products is a bit higher there. Hence the 4 stars.
google avatar

Mel D.

Yelp
Raw milk and a variety of raw cheeses. This is a very popular market for great reason. I always make a stop here when I'm in the area. The employees are knowledgeable and helpful. It may be pricier but can you really put a price on having excellent health? I can't wait to try every single raw cheese.

Yelp
My wife and I love to escape the big city life (yes I'm calling Sacramento a big city) and enjoy the relaxing small city vibes of Calistoga. Calistoga is perfect for its wineries and bed & breakfast establishments. What could use some work is the duration that restaurants are open. Plenty of times my wife and I have spent a majority of the day wine tasting, only to find out that most of the restaurants were about to close or already closed (7pm seems like the popular closing time). Knowing that we wouldn't be able to make it to any of the restaurants after a day of drinking in our room (Cottage Grove Inn-please reference my Yelp review if interested), my wife and I took a walk to check out Cal Mart. Since our room did not have a microwave, we decided to opt for premade sandwiches and snacks. Although we had plenty of wine in our room, it was nice to see their phenomenal assortment of wines (perfect for those whom need to keep the party going after running dry). The store also has a healthy assortment of cheeses to pair with said wine. Staff were generally friendly and very knowledgeable about the location of products in the store (not always the case at some stores). Since this is one of very few grocery stores in the area, this will be our go-to spot whenever we're in town!

Yelp
This place is awesome for grabbing your needs for a picnic or even groceries if you are staying at a local air b and b or house. Great selections of cheeses, meats, wines, and whatever you may need! Makes it particularly nice since it's in the heart of downtown, making it walking distance from most of the local resort motels.

Terry B.

Yelp
Great store in the heart of Calistoga. Has everything you could want. Besides the normal items they have a great deli for all meals of the day.

Yelp
Every time I go camping, I always search out a small town market to service me with supplies and quality food. This place fit the bill for a few days trip. It is definitely on the gourmet side, which fits my taste. It is clean and well stocked. Here are my observations: The Digs: +Even for a more gourmet selection, the prices are not over-the-top. +Cheese section is abnormally large by ratio of the store. The store is half the size of a Whole Foods, but the cheese section here was just as large and represented. I guess they love their cheese in this town lol. +They have pre-wrapped meat and a butcher counter. Nice options. +I didn't use it, but their deli counter seemed really nice. Lots of things to grab and go. The Whoas: -The parking lot is small and doesn't share with any other parking lots. If it's full, it's full. And street parking isn't the easiest on this downtown strip. -Some of the pre-packaged meats were starting to show some age on them. Gotta have a discerning eye here. Can't just blindly grab and go. -No hard liquor section. If you want anything in this department, you're gonna have to make an extra trip to the liquor store across the street. So as far as small town markets go, this one surpassed my needs and expectations for a brief stint. And if ever back in this area for an extended stay, I won't hesitate in remembering that they're a solid option.

Yelp
Cute little grocery store in Healdsburg. Has a little bit of everything. Love the tea collection.
google avatar

Yelp
Came to this store. Kolesow is terrible, the don't put dressing. Also the guy who take the order not friendly.
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
Cal mart is the best we are so very grateful to have you here. Thank you Bill for providing such a great store. The meat case is fabulous and always looks great. The staff is excellent and always smiling especially Chloe she is GREAT of course I'm biased (she is my niece) and Birdie (my sister) is the BEST meat manager. Love you all!

Jack K.

Yelp
This grocery store has everything that I needed. The store is very clean and conveniently located in downtown.
google avatar

Lily Rose P.

Yelp
CAL MART has various food items. They have friendly staff. The service is swift. This is the only grocery store in Calistoga that I know. We bought necessities like water, snacks, and soda. The price is a bit higher it's to be expected due to inflation. The ambiance is regular but with a flare of a small-town feel, where everyone knows everybody except the tourists, but are welcomed.
google avatar

Amber E.

Yelp
Great market - not huge, but had everything we were looking for. The only grocery store in town, so the best in town!
google avatar

Ivan M.

Yelp
You can't go wrong here wonderful people wonderful place, food is great too. Love the deli as well.

Yelp
Cal Mart is the spot to pick up groceries in the Calistoga area. There's plenty of parking here which is nice and I appreciate that they have a solid selection of produce, condiments, and other basic shopping needs. They've been around since 1968 as a family-owned grocery store - so they've obviously been embraced and well supported by the local community through the years. If you're in Calistoga for a brief amount of time and have a long car ride ahead - come here to stock up on healthy and unhealthy snacks. If you're looking to avoid long lines at nearby eateries or want to manifest a lovely picnic - Cal Mart's quality hot bar and sandwich making area - will serve you well. If you're a local and just looking to make a well sourced meal - come here. Trust.

Allison W.

Yelp
I came into this store while visiting in the area. It is a very charming place with a bit of everything you could ever want or need. The quality of the food items was excellent and the choice of wines was even good. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
If you need it, they have it, plus. The staff is so cool. The food is fresh so good. I highly recommend this store. It's easy and convenient oh and nowhere else to go for 10 miles lol.
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Love this market. We always stick up on snacks and what not when we stay at Indian Springs.
google avatar

Candace L.

Yelp
Quickly stopped off in here to pick up a few different cheeses and a package of rosemary crackers. If you're in the area and looking to build a picnic this would be a great place to pick up some essentials. Large private parking lot out front, and restrooms should you need them.

gabriela m.

Yelp
I was asking a young employee for help and she was very rude and then proceeded to ignore me. She went on to say to tell me to find the item myself. Her name is crystal, if I see her there again I will be getting corporate involved this type of customer service is not okay. I have been to Cal Mart many times and have not been treated like this before, this interaction makes me not want to come back.

Chris M.

Yelp
Calmart has always been talked about by the locals with their high prices. I live in calistoga and love calmart and have been a loyal advocate for them but for them to change their hours without any notice to their customers and their workers ignoring us at the door is sad. I used to be a proud and loyal customer but now I am going to join the rest of the locals and shop elsewhere! Look at your own webpage -- at least have the decency to post your hours correctly. Your prices you have no problem adjusting but your hours on your website is too much for you?????
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Great Deli: stop for a huge $8 sammich, terrific soup (Italian wedding), salads, desserts, hot bar....cheese bar. Pick up your picnic here, then head for the winery!

Kenneth P.

Yelp
Just the best people in the world. If they don't carry it they will get it for you. Great meat department, excellent wine selection with hard to find wines like Petrified Forest Vineyards which is really hard to find.

Talia L.

Yelp
Found these at their store sooo neat! Tahini !! Love the clean label and ingredients
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
This applies to deli only. Staff unprofessional and unfriendly. Sandwich was prepared sloppily, and took forever. The bread was stale, and had the most faint taste imaginable. Overall the sandwich was unremarkable, and it was quite disappointing. How difficult is it to make a sandwich?
google avatar

William M.

Yelp
This is a great medium-sized independent grocery store with the added bonus of a deli and self-serve prepared foods area. They also have a big selection of cold single bottle and can beverages available if you need a quick drink or something to go with your food. The burritos here are super good. They are freshly made, wrapped in foil with a colorful sticker identifying the ingredients and kept hot in a self serve warming tray. The flour tortilla wrapping my chicken burrito was thin and soft...not really suitable to hold, but easily torn with a complimentary plastic fork. Inside the chicken was so tender, but lean and along with the beans and rice was just the right proportions of all the ingredients. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
google avatar

Jared C.

Yelp
Yea masks are required but go about it..... Tone of voice and how you approach customers says a lot. I can tell this is a locals favored place. Won't be back.
