Came here after a recommendation for gluten free options. It did not disappoint, a lot of vegan and gluten free options. Free parking lot out front. A lot of seating and a closed in patio. Kid friendly in terms of high chairs and a diaper changer but no kid menu their recommendation was the margarita pizza (photo attached). Would recommend, nice place!

I had a pleasant experience dining at Calactus. While I found the food to be fairly average, the service more than made up for it. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and ensured everything went smoothly throughout the visit. The atmosphere was truly the highlight — warm, cozy, and inviting, creating a wonderful setting to enjoy a meal. Overall, a solid choice if you value excellent service and a comfortable, relaxing ambiance.

Google
recently visited this restaurant and had an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious — especially great for vegetarians. Every dish was full of flavor, and the overall taste was just wow. Highly recommended for anyone looking for tasty vegetarian options!

Google
Some of the best food I've had, veg or otherwise! Highly recommend the Enchiladas (I had it with cheese) The smoothie was simple but hearty, while the chocolate raspberry pie was incredibly and extremely filling I was so full trying to finish these, but thoroughly enjoyed them all! A tad expensive

Google
It's my friend's favorite place and she always make sure she visit here twice when she is in Moncton. So she took me here twice and I got to try few different dishes. I really enjoyed their falafel salad. Omg. It was good. And the bruschetta with balsamic vinegar was just omg! Her favorite is Enchiladas! And yes it's all good. The flavor is so rich.

Google
Giving a second star for whoever was working in the kitchen as they did a fine job on siding the vegetables for one of my dishes, clearly someone with skill. That and the decor is nice. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The menu lacks vision and feels like something you would see from a similar eatery 10+ years ago. It's a hodgepodge of cuisines that use very different spice profiles which they clearly don't keep on hand. I'm glad there is a place for locals to get vegetarian food but it was underwhelming for me. Not to mention the service left a lot to be desired.

Google
Visited Calactus today with a couple of friends for brunch; first impression was that it was a nice cozy place, loved how they had small booth like seats for more privacy! We ordered the Enchiladas, the cannelloni portobello and the lasagna - the food was delicious! The portion sizes were pretty good! Loved the sides that come with each dish! Our server was really nice and sweet! Customer service was on point! Great place to grab some good food and have a nice time! Definitely 💯 P.S. Vegetarians like myself should really check out this place - it’s amazing!

Google
Perfect experience for a diner in town, warm welcome and fast cooking. Not a vegetarian myself so I won't be able to compare but I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to have a good meal, it's as simple as that !

Yelp
We arrived right as the lunch rush was quieting down...service was prompt and friendly...wait staff very knowledgeable about the menu and they offer wonderful alternative ingredients for folks who have allergies or sensitivities to certain foods. I loved the tofu/veggie omelette with delicious greens, potatoes and gluten free bread. The hot chai latte was the best I've had...no sugar and dairy milk alternatives, and lots of cinnamon. My date loved the spinach pesto 1/2 pizza and 1/2 Greek salad. I also grabbed a hot lemonade to go...delicious! This restaurant is lovely to sit in and they clearly take pride in their ingredients, prep and dishes. It is a welcome space for every kind of human. We will return on our next trip!

Yelp
Bright space, in the downtown Moncton area, PARKING available. My favourite dish is the half pizza half salad. (The hot chocolate is to die for)

Yelp
Went here during my trip out East and had some hopes this would be a good restaurant based on what I was seeing online. However we were quite disappointed with the food, we wanted to try the top rated dishes as per the waitresses recommendations. We got the nachos, pasta, enchilada and burger. Of all the options only the burger was flavourful and enjoyable but everything else was just lacking salt and the portion size was very small especially considering the price. The atmosphere of the restaurant wasn't welcoming either and the inside of the restaurant was boiling hot because the A/C was non existent. The waitress was also not the friendliest. Seemed like all the reviews we saw were from locals which for someone coming from out of town was a little skewed.

Yelp
Unique setup! Nice having a curtain between tables for privacy. Waitress was attentive and friendly. As for the food, it's a mixed menu of Indian and Mexican options. We had the classic flute (veggies wrapped in a chapati), the moustafa (baked chapati with cheese and tomato) and the Oaxaca bowl (hearty rice, beans and cheese- like a burrito bowl). Portion sizes were big!! Very filling, especially with the sides of corn chips and tabouleh/quinoa. Would recommend!

Yelp
Recently had the vegetarian pizza! Delicious and plentiful! Had leftovers that were great too!

Yelp
Excellent everytime, the food, the staff, highly recommended. If you are not a vegetarian, no worries you will enjoy many items on the menu. Big Marc Burger. Thank you Calctus!

Yelp
It's been 3 weeks that I have been living in Moncton, like every students we are always struggling with money issues. For the quality of the food the price is pretty fair!! It's amazing! Best vegetarian/vegan place so far :) The background music is amazing, the service and the food is also great!

Yelp
Pour une superbe dégustation de délicieux mets végétariens, Shalom Salad + pizza is the way to go! Pi le owner est amazing!

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Good vegan menu choices. Outdoor seating is pleasant and covered

Yelp
I didn't care for the food, I ordered some sort of fajita wrap and it was awful, bitter to the taste. It could be that I'm just not the vegan type but if that's what the food in the vegan world tastes like...no thanks!!!
google avatar

Yelp
One of my all time favourite restaurants in Moncton! It's one of those places you need to keep going back so you can try everything on the menue, and every item will be your favourite lol I would recommend The Big Marc burger, Taj Mahal and all of the desserts!

Yelp
Let's be clear. I'm a meat eater. If someone told me there was no more bacon left in the world, or I could never eat a hamburger again, I would likely cry for weeks. However, meat doesn't have to be in every meal, and a well-made vegetarian or vegan dish can be just as appetizing. Plus, I am always open to trying new cuisines in general. While spending a few days around the Moncton area, this place looked like a must-try, and it was. The food and decor has a sort of Mexican/Indian flare. Being a Saturday, this place was totally hoppin'. New customers were flowing in every few minutes, but we were lucky enough to snag a seat right away (being a party of 2 helps a lot with that). One small criticism is that they seemed a bit understaffed - the waiters that were there had too much on their plate and were running around like mad men. Being as busy as they were though, they really did an excellent job. I ordered the Pesto, olive and feta pizza. While not the most unique thing on the menu, I just couldn't resist because those are three of my favorite things. It was excellent, and I gobbled the whole thing up. I just wish there were a couple more olives on it instead of one per slice. I believe my wife got the Taj Mahal Thali, and upon tasting a few bites, was also excellent although extremely different from mine. Still a bit peckish, we decided to have a look at a dessert menu. Our waiter, approximately as fast as Sonic the Hedgehog, dropped off a couple French dessert menus and said something like "Sorry, only have French Menus left." Before I could utter a word he was gone. I'm sure most native New Brunswickers could manage with this, growing up around so much French, but witnessing a Midwestern American boy trying to make out a French menu when he wasn't expecting to do so, equipped with only 8-weeks of French language, 20 years ago in 8th grade is quite a sight to behold. Anyway, we had a good laugh about it and I ended up ordering the Gâteau au Bananes, because well, I like Bananas, and it was an exquisite Banana cake with fresh cream, maple drizzle and topped with nuts. I'm so glad we went here, and really wish I could go back because honestly, everything looked really good.

Yelp
Driving from Halifax to Fredericton, I was looking for a nice lunch spot in Moncton. This place came up as the highest rated and I decided to give it a shot. I don't identify as Vegetarian or Vegan, but I do enjoy those types of meals when done right. I ordered the enchiladas, and the waiter assured me that they were his favorite. If you are a meat eater, you have to go in with an open mind and not expect a normal tasting enchilada. The plate was beautiful and the enchiladas were artsy with the sour cream swirls and perfectly placed tortilla chips. Overall flavor was good. The best way to describe it is almost a cross between Mexican and Italian. There is a tomato sauce in the enchiladas, giving it a bit of a pasta sauce feeling. The rice was tasty and overall a very satisfying and filling dish. The chips tasted slightly stale, but still had good flavor. If I head back through Moncton I would definitely stop back in.

Yelp
The worst part of this visit is the need for me to drive 2 days and cross 1 time zone to get here. Absolutely flawless on all points, more than excellent setting, ambience and food. Great drinks, great staff...and thanks to my buddy Ross for the recommendation. We had the Big Marc burger than was on special today. Came with a desert and soup, $23. Wow! The soup was red pepper, I tasted sweet potatoes, but in fairness, I think the server Mario mentioned that. The desert was apple cranberry crumble. Knock out! I normally avoid cranberries because I need them to be sweetened so much to lose the flavour. I'm a convert. We also had the half mushroom pizza and half beet goat salad. What a great choice. Add ginger lemonade and a sangria and everyone is happy. This place is perfect and I'm sorry I'm only in town for 2 days. Highly and will frequently recommend. I'm not detached enough to know this may be a different kind of crowd...not the usual burger and fries gastronomic brutes, but I'd put money on the fact that they would be blown away too. Shout out to Mario the best server in New Brunswick!

Yelp
Have been to this restaurant multiple times and every time has been an amazing experience! I have not tasted one bad thing at this restaurant. Lots of unique flavors and creative dishes and still so many I want to try. This is a must visit anytime you visit Moncton

Yelp
Whoever gave this place less than 5 stars should be ashamed, this is by far the best vegetarian restaurant I've ever eaten at and I cannot get enough of their Big Marc Burger. Their tofu cream is excellent and I've been trying to replicate it myself for months now with no success. This place definitely deserves 5 stars. Whoever gets me their tofu cream recipe gets 5 stars too!

Yelp
I've never had a veggie burger that I enjoyed until I visited this lovely spot in early November! It was surprisingly delicious, served with a yummy Caesar salad. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, especially on a snowy, wet day. The service was helpful and friendly - the whole package! Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Thank you for offering great vegan options!!! My sister took me here for my birthday dinner. We went with the special for 22$ - coffee, cauliflower & fennel soup, enchiladas and a brownie, what a great deal! I was so pleased when I was able to swap the cheese for a vegan alternative for my enchiladas. It wasn't your typical authentic mexican enchiladas but it was still VERY delicious and filling. The mexican rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The only thing that let us down was the salsa, which tasted like store bought jarred Tostitos salsa. This place has a fun casual atmosphere, and definitely recommend to everyone.

Yelp
What a gem. My vegan wife was super happy with all the choices. Service was quick, the atmosphere warm and intimate and the food was excellent. Very diverse menu with plenty of options for non-Veggie types (like me). And great deserts. Full wine / beer menu. The place was filled with locals on a weeknight... always a good sign.

Yelp
I came here with high expectations. The food looked amazing, the reviews looked amazing. I was pretty excited. The decor was awesome, drapes separated you from the other tables - everything seemed perfect. I came with three other people and each ordered different items. The first course was pretty good. The guacamole was delicious, and the hummus was good. However, when the dessert came out, everything changed. We saw a couple bugs on the plate and I was disgusted but the third one came out of the pie and I decided to take a video. When we asked the waiter to come over, he took it away. When he came back he said it wasn't their food 'it must have came from someone's jacket' it was freezing outside and that did not seem possible, it was clearly an ant. He said it had wings , but if it did t would have flown away and not waddled after. He gave us the dessert for free- which we wouldn't have paid for anyway because it had multiple bugs come out of it. We didn't see a manager and never got a proper apology. We definitely will not be coming back here, the atmosphere changed completely by the end of the night and I am completely disappointed that no manager came out and we did not receive a genuine apology. We were quickly shuffled out.

Yelp
I stopped here while traveling through Moncton to Hopewell Rocks. Being on the road while vegan, it's sometimes hard to find a place where you have multiple choices on a menu. This vegetarian restaurant offers to make any dish vegan. I had the Big Marc Burger and it was scrumptious! They have a vegan cheese they added on and it made the burger exceptionally tasty. It came with a side of roasted potatoes and your choice of salad. Cute place, friendly service, great vegetarian/vegan variety!
google avatar

Yelp
Very glad to see a vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Moncton and a good one at that. Atmosphere was warm and inviting, service was friendly, a real nice spot for lunch. Soup of the day was cauliflower fennel and was delicious. Had the shalom salad with falafel and tofu cream, which was hearty and colourful! I will come back again on my next Moncton trip!

Leah A.

Yelp
The Oaxaca bowl was delicious!! But the "garlic bread" and side salad sucked. The garlic bread is literally just toast with oil. It was super hot and stuffy inside because the windows don't open they should really fix that.
google avatar

CJ E.

Yelp
The food here is fresh and delicious Service is excellent and the atmosphere/mood is very positive. I will come back. Very family friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
Food this healthy shouldn't taste this good. I'm amazed. The flavour of all their dishes exceeds nearly all of the meat-based restaurant dishes from my past. This is the first vegetarian restaurant that has done this for me. The restaurant is located in a cute, eco house, filled with plants and brimming with life. I left with my belly satisfied and my energy replenished. I would eat here everyday if I could.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was absolutely fantastic!!! As delicious as the food tasted, the presentation was equally lovely. This was my favorite place we ate at on vacation. From our entrance into the restaurant to leaving the restaurant, our service was top-notch. The ambience is warm and intimate and very kid-friendly. And we were so happy that they welcome kids! My 6-year-old son enjoyed his plate and the place so much! Our waiter was awesome. I wish I remembered his name to give him a big kudos. He was super helpful, kind, and attentive. All around, I can't say one negative thing. Also, before going, I saw a review about the mushroom cannelloni being a small dish. I disagree and maybe they changed the size of the plate? The cannelloni was a generous portioned plate and was so tasty. I could not finish it! Keep on doing what you are doing, Calactus Cafe!!!

Yelp
This was probably our best food experience that we had on our trip to Canada. The hubby isn't even vegetarian and he loved it too. Really delicious and sophisticated vegetarian food that can be made vegan (mine was). The server was wonderful too. Desert was delicious as well and vegan. Go. Eat. There.

Téa R.

Yelp
My all time favourite restaurant. I love calactus with my whole heart. My family is vegan and we always drove through Moncton when I was a kid. One day we decided to stop here and we've gone anytime we're in the area since. They have the most amazing pakoras with chutney that is to die for. Their big Marc burger and Caesar salad is absolutely incredible. They used to have these amazing brownies for dessert (keep in mind I normally hate brownies) although I'm not too sure they still have them.

Yelp
Calactus is my sanctuary while staying in Moncton, NB. There are not may places in town that cater to those who seek to abstain from meat and dairy, and these fine folks do it with style and grace. Every food item, bar none, is fabulous. Nina runs an amazing space that never disappoints.
google avatar

Frederick F.

Yelp
If you are vegetarian then you can't miss the Calactus Cafe the next time you are in Moncton. The Veggie Burger is their signature dish--delightful.
google avatar

Ryan J.

Yelp
I don't eat vegetarian food often but this place was suggested to me as a good place for dinner. It was definitely tasty. I'm always in awe how meat substitutes end up tasting so..meaty. I had the lasagna and my friend had the Texas nachos. Both with ground beef subs and both, I swear, full of meat. LOL Great place to have a good vegetarian meal. Prices were a little high, although I find most vegetarian restaurants are like this. Service was excellent and friendly, and the food was superb.
google avatar

Luke R.

Yelp
Quaint little restaurant with a Vegetarian theme. Had a Mushroom cannelloni that was delicious an d their burger was impressive for both the size and flavour. I am usually not a fan of veggie burgers, but this was one of the better ones that i have had. Not to be missed is their chai lemonade. A real treat!

Yelp
First time having vegetarian food ! ..and i love it ! Wonderful embiance ; calm and relaxing . Service was friendly and fast . I suggest the big mac burger !
google avatar

Yelp
Great restaurant for anyone who wants to eat healthy and enjoy the food. I had the special; Moc burger, Caesar salad, fries, minestrone soup, dessert with other coffee. Fresh vegetables, gluten free and tasty!
google avatar

Cat S.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed eating at Calactus Cafe - the staff are friendly, the food is amazing at the pricing is reasonable. There is a real effort made to make diners feel comfortable and tiny touches, down to the type of dinnerware used. Fantastic. I'll be back here for sure next time I'm in Moncton!
google avatar

Kat S.

Yelp
Really great vegetarian place. Super friendly service, cool atmosphere, and interesting meals, that are healthy and delicious. I appreciate the effort that has gone into making the menu. It's not your usual boring vegetarian fare, and even my meat obsessed dining companions enjoyed it. The flat breads are hand made and tasty and the salads are huge!
google avatar

Yelp
In the pouring rain during our week at Fundy National Park, we made a break for a special meal in nearby Moncton and were so lucky to discover this vegetarian restaurant. We were greeted warmly and then were served up a menu full of so many wonderful options, we didn't even know where to begin. I opted for a bowl of split pea soup and a Calactus club sandwich (hey, if it has the name of the restaurant on it, it's gotta be good!) AND IT WAS. So good. It was the perfect detour during our rainy day, and when I look back on our trip, it was one of the highlights. The kind of meal that just makes you feel good inside and out. The kind of place where every other table's food looks just as good, and you want what they got. It was a little more than we usually spend on food, but I'm glad we made the exception.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious vegetarian fare, with vegan options. Very busy on a Friday at 12:15 for lunch, so be prepared to put your name on a waiting list and to hang out for 15 minutes or so. There's a deck where it'll be lovely to sit as the weather warms up. The service was friendly, efficient, and bilingual. Menus are available in English and French. We split a 'thousand and one nights' appetizer platter to start, which included housemade curried hummus, kalamata olives, homemade buttery chapatis, a few veggies, and would have come with a dish of feta but we substituted it for our vegan friend with a creamcheese-like soy spread that was creamy and totally delicious. For the main I tried a special, the Mustafa melt with tomatoes, feta, and another cheese spread over homemade bread that was light and tasty, along with a bowl of the red pepper yam soup, which was very good. Everyone was pleased with their dishes and the service really was excellent. I will definitely go back if I have the chance!
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
So this is probably my new favourite restaurant I have ever been to for vegan cuisine. The atmosphere is really nice, I love the decor and how warm and cheery it feels. The service was prompt and friendly and the food is to die for. My husband and I, being vegan, ordered all the options veganized since this is something they offer. I believe almost everything on the menu can be made vegan. We started with a banana chocolate shake, followed by the Texan nachos and finishing with a big marc burger. Everything was incredible and as I said, probably the best vegan food I have ever eaten. Definitely will be back.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
Definitely will be back here again! Their menu is amazing, so much goodness to offer! We started with the ceasar salad (huge) and then had enchiladas and Oaxaca deep dish! Highly recommended the tofu cream instead of cheese, it's unbelievable!! The rice they make is one of a kind too! Everything was perfect, and the service was excellent! We went around 1pm and it was completely full!

Yelp
Delicious food. Pleasant decor. Outdoor seating (but not when I went in December!). Right next to the train tracks. Light, simple, tasty, well crafted. Great to find a vegetarian restaurant in Moncton/Dieppe. They say they can make all the items on their menu vegan, but my melt was just "sans cheese." I find it a bit annoying to go to a restaurant and be told that it can be vegan and it's just a less-expensive version of the same food (but, of course, at the same price). The "melt" I had DID include an excellent tofu spread, so it's not like it was just veggies on bread, but I would have liked them to say "we can withhold dairy/egg from any item upon request" rather than present it as having vegan options (I know, this is a bit picky on my part, and the food was still excellent). Try the Inka Latte! Great alternative (they also offer coffee espresso drinks).
google avatar

Ken H.

Yelp
This is one of the better vegetarian restaurants I've been to. The restaurant is an old house next to the train tracks, and has both indoor and outdoor seating. When I was there in May, some diners were outside, but personally I was happier indoors. The decor is soft and natural, and each table feels like it has some separation from those around it. The waitstaff the night we were there were speaking French among themselves, but everyone spoke excellent English. The food was excellent. I am not a vegetarian, but I was looking for something refreshing that wasn't fish & chips. My canelloni was a well-designed dish, full of flavor and substance. The wine list offers only organic or bio-dynamic wines. The bottle of Malbec we had was OK, but nothing special for the price.
google avatar

Brittney J.

Yelp
Just ate here for dinner, the place was very cute the food was really good. I was not blown away, but I would definitely go back. Great flavours, good options and healthy. Although the waiter we had was not the most pleasant, besides her poor attitude I enjoyed it very much.
google avatar

Kyle M.

Yelp
Calactus is a great time, cozy & warm atmosphere, good prices and great quality food and selection. I'm a meat eater (my meals always tend to revolve around a meat based choice) however all of the options here are really fantastic. Amazing staff and reliable return experience!

Sandra S.

Yelp
How many ways can I say I LOVE this restaurant?? Whether you're vegan or not, the food is fabulous, the wait staff are terrific and the atmosphere is super. Before I moved to Moncton, I would visit and my first stop would be this restaurant. Now that I live here, I am in heaven that there is a vegan restaurant that has such great food close by. As someone who has various digestive issues, I can honestly say the food settles nicely every time I visit....even if I tend to overeat because everything is soooo delicious!

Bob L.

Yelp
I appreciated this place as a tourist entering a seafood heavy province. Cute atmosphere, promising fusion menu, but the food is only okay in terms of vegetarian fare. I did go twice during my trip and nothing absolutely blew me away. The burger was a little too sweet for my taste. Their take on a vegan caesar salad was delicious. The wrap sandwiches were good too, but just a bit basic.
google avatar

Cassi P.

Yelp
This place was incredible! The food tasted amazing and lots of options. I really enjoyed the healthy options to pick from and usually I'm super picky about the types of veggies I'll eat but this place had a great variety. The wait staff was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxing. If you're looking for healthy, amazing food at a great price and great atmosphere this is the place to go.

Lyla D.

Yelp
I was simply amazed by the outstanding quality of the food! It was so good. I love when I go to a restaurant and can order anything on the menu. Service was great as well.
